'Netflix and chill' is the new 'want to come up for a drink?' in the world of dating – a casual suggestion that we all know is going to lead to something more.

Now, some smart tech folks have capitalised on the term with a new app that serves a genius function.

If you're bored and not in the mood to swipe through hundreds of potential Tinder matches, you can simply find out who is nearby and send them an invite to, you've guessed it… watch Netflix and chill.

Like this:

The app, TikiTalk, was launched last week to great success, but the founders say it was just a flukey idea.

"Netflix and chill is just so funny. It was everything we were about. Sending someone an invite or whatever, you can make them smile," co-founder Daniel Ahn told Unilad.

"With Tinder, you have to swipe with every person. With this app, you literally open it, and you see who’s around you. From there, you can send them an invite to Netflix and chill."

Just last week, another new app, Netfling, promised to find you a match based on your Netflix preferences, pairing people with lots of mutually loved shows.

And with TikiTalk, we reckon the circle is complete. Find a match who loves the same shows, then invite them up with a cheeky 'Netflix and Chill?' request.

Who needs Tinder?

You may not want to admit it, but at some point in you relationship things are going to move from steamy and exciting to stay in and chill. So, when it comes to thinking about how compatible you and your new significant other are, people are taking their Netflix que and DVD collection into account more than ever.

The thousands of internet memes that propose we should look into using our Netflix accounts as an online match making service are finally becoming a reality. Netfling is hyping itself up as the best way to "find your perfect couch companion."

netfling

Working much like Tinder, just without having to use a Facebook account to sort through your possible matches. Netfling would rely on your Netflix information to find people who watch the same TV series and films you do.

So there will actually be a real-life verson of 'here's 25 other singles who just watched seven series of Grey's Anatomy'.

The people at Netfling are making the claim that: “The secret to a happy relationship isn’t communication…it’s having the same Netflix taste.”

Considering there has been a dating app that bases your possible love interests on their pet ownership status, among many more bizarre dating services, we are considering Netfling might be a success. Look, winter is a long season with shorter days and chilly, wet weather. It is a time when we will shamelessly indulge in lazy evenings on the couch, so why not make the most of it?

The argument can also be made that people's taste in TV will tell you a lot about them, but also maybe too much. Do we really want potential suitors to know just how much time we spend watching Say Yes To The Dress? Hmmm.

At the very least though, you will know that you have at least two common interests: TV and online dating. Recipe for success, yes?

It was a shock to hear how much Amazon Prime is paying for the Top Gear boys to hit the small screen again.

Yup, for those that don't know it's coughing up an astonishing €220m for 36 episodes – which is enough to make anyone's eyes water.

Understandably, the boys seem to be delighted to be back on the road (hey, so would we), but they have certainly caused a lot of controversy in doing so.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Netflix's influential Neil Hunt said bluntly that Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May were simply not worth that amount of cash.

It had been rumoured that the streaming service was interesting in signing up the former BBC stars for a Netflix original series, but evidently it wasn't willing to hand over a blank cheque.

"We have past episodes of Top Gear, so we have a pretty good gauge of what audiences like. Our buying decisions tend to be somewhat data-driven," Mr Hunt explained.

"We have a lot of data to get the deals we want, so there we go.

"Clearly it wasn't worth the money to make the deal… I think they sold themselves for way more money than they're worth."

You may think he sounds bitter, but Neil does have a point: the new, as yet unnamed show will have to fork out €6m for every episode that airs.

Whether Amazon Prime paid too much for the trio of presenters in question will remain unknown until the new show airs next year.

This news has hit us hard today. The Office is one of our favourite Netflix series to binge watch for a few hours, or ya know, an entire weekend.

But those beautiful marathons are set to be a thing of the past unfortunately, and we are devastated.

A Netflix fan site which monitors the expiry dates of television shows and movies on the website has shared the latest casualties and the US Office is in there.

Also featured are The Rugrats, This is 40, iCarly and The Undateables. These ones we could probably go without, but how are we supposed to live without our fix of the greatest love story of all time, Jim and Pam. How Netflix??

But it seems there may be a glimmer of hope, Netflix may choose to renew the show closer to the date. But for now, we'll be in our internest enjoying as many hours of Michael and Dwight as we possibly can.

We had just gotten over the blow of Modern Family being removed from Netflix last year, you guys are toying with our emotions.

We unfortunately have some bad news for those Netflix users amongst you, it turns out we may have to get ready for a hike in prices.

According to the Gaurdian, Reed Hastings the Netflix CEO said subscribers should get prepared for an increase in their monthly TV streaming costs.

The company has 65 million subscribers and a higher than expected income but they are still planning to hit fans of the service with the news.

Reed told investors on Wednesday that they are planning on pushing users towards a higher price plan in the US in the next few years.

The company doesn't seem like they need to higher the prices as they have made €838 million already this month.

It seems that Netflix will also become less tolerant of people widely sharing their passwords across different devices.

But don't worry, this isn't coming for a while. Netflix intend to bring in this change as slow as over the next decade.

We are just a little over a month away from Netflix’s newest crime drama’s release and oh, are we excited or what!

Narcos is based on real-life Colombian drug lord, Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura), when he was at the height of his power in the 1980s.

In the show’s first trailer we see DEA agent Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook aka Elizabeth Olsen’s ex-fiancé) as the policeman who is determined to bring the ‘King of Cocaine’ down.

Narcos tells the story of the most powerful man in Colombia who became responsible for approximately 80 percent of the world’s cocaine distribution and almost single-handedly turned Colombia into the murder capital of the world.

Game of Thrones fans will be glad to see a familiar face as Oberyn Martel (Pedro Pascal) plays Javier Peña, the Mexican DEA agent who helped to bring Escobar down.

And for any Entourage fans out there, we can promise you that this looks a WHOLE lot more promising than Vincent Chase’s Medellin

Free stuff? Yes please. Free Netflix? YES DEFINITELY!!!!!

Sorry everyone, it’s not what you think. Netflix is a one-year-old black cat in need of a new home.

This cat named after the popular online streaming service needs somewhere new to live ASAP because, as stated in the Craig’s List ad: “the place at which I am now residing does not allow pets.”

Lucking for this young cat, the streaming service were more than happy to share his story via their twitter to over 1.4 million followers in a bid to help his search for a new home.

His owner Jordan is moving house and we can definitely see he’s not looking forward to parting with his feline friend: “I'm not asking for any fees, but only a new owner that can provide love and care to this sweet animal.”

The advert reads: 'Netflix is a year old (as of next month), and has been caught up on his shots, but has not been spayed.

“He is a very loving cat and would make a great addition to any family.” (Awww – If we lived in Washington we would certainly take him in!)

After posting this advert, Netflix’s story has gone viral but we don’t know yet whether he has a new home or not.

The third season of the Emmy award-winning series Orange Is The New Black has now been released on Netflix – a full six hours ahead of schedule.

The uproarious drama was set to be shared on the streaming site this evening, but Netflix delighted OITNB fans this morning when it announced over Twitter that the series was live.

Safe to say we know what we’ll be doing this weekend!

This dark and gritty yet hilariously real drama-comedy has proved a huge hit with audiences since being unveiled two years ago.

So what's its sercret? Firstly, it is one of very few shows that competes at the top of the ‘quality TV’ genre that has a cast made up of almost entirely women.

While many shows have strong leading female women (think House Of Cards and Breaking Bad) that are the driving forces in the show, they still, to a certain extent, are there to play counterpart to the predominantly male leads.

While Claire Underwood and Skyler White are undoubtedly the portrayal of sound reason and logic in their respective shows, it is still the characters played by Kevin Spacey and Bryan Cranston that take the lead.

But not in Orange is the New Black. With a cast that boasts a host of totally diverse women, and characters with real depth, the show brings a sense of brutal realism to its audience.

The show is based on the 2010 memoir of Piper Kerman, whose seemingly perfect middle-class life was interrupted when she had to serve a 12-month prison sentence for drug offences that were committed years earlier.

So where are we now?

At the end of season two Piper (Taylor Schilling) had ratted on her former lover Alex (Laura Prepon). Vee (Lorraine Toussaint) had escaped from prison, only to be run over by another fugitive.

We can’t wait to see where season 3 is going to pick up from. So, cancel all your weekend plans, the OITNB race is on!

We reckon a weekend of refreshing our memories on season 2 is in order.

Manicures, massages and cocktails – and that was before being shown to the ultra glamourous private cinema in The Soho Hotel in London for a screening of a new Netflix Original series, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. The ultimate girlie day out!

Netflix celebrated “unbreakable” women by treating a group of fab female bloggers and writers to some much needed "me time" for the premiere of a new sitcom starring the hilarious Ellie Kemper and Jane Krakowski.

With Tina Fey and Robert Carlock on board as executive producers, it’s no surprise that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is hilarious right from the start.

Ellie, best known for her roles in Bridesmaids and The Office US, takes on the title role of Kimmy, playing a woman who has been rescued from a doomsday cult and has to re-start her life in busy New York.

Kimmy strives to be “unbreakable” in a city where failure is expected, aiming to live life by her motto, “You can do anything for 10 seconds!”

Along the way Kimmy meets some brilliant characters, particularly her roomie Titus, a failed broadway star.

If you are looking for some hilarious light relief, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is the perfect "me time" show with a great feel-good element.

The show launched today, Friday March 6th – and as it's a Netflix Original Series, you can binge-watch the entire first series all at once… go on, we won’t tell anyone!
