Following claims that a young female music fan was sexually assaulted at a Kasabian gig in Kentish Town last night, members of the public have taken to Twitter to discuss the ramifications of the claims.

According to numerous reports, a member of Cabbage – Kasabian's supporting act on the night – sexually assaulted a female who was in the front row of the venue with her father.

Nicole Rushworth, a supposed eyewitness, took to Twitter and claimed that Lee Broadbent had violated the fan.

"The lead singer, Lee Broadbent, sexually assaulted a young woman at the show. Her and her dad had been in the queue since the early hours of the morning to ensure their place on the barrier for Kasabian, only to have their night tarnished by this awful behaviour," she wrote.

"Whilst stood on the barrier, he proceeded to put his hand down his trousers, fondle himself, then rub his hand on the girl, ragging on her hair. Basically forcing her face first into his crotch."

"Rightfully so, her dad complained to security who said they would speak to Kasabian’s production team. They then brought out the singer to apologise to the girl and all he did was start an argument with her dad. He flat out refused to apologise and got aggressive with him, stating that it was all part of the act."

"His behaviour was completely appalling, I have never witnessed anything like it at the many shows I’ve been to over the years," Nicole added.

Strenuously denying the allegations, the band replied: "We completely deny the accusations put against Lee this morning. His hands were never down his trousers – although he did go down to the barrier to interact with the crowd, as he does at all Cabbage shows."

"Security guards and everyone who saw the show, know that these complaints are completely unfounded. We’re very shocked and deeply troubled by these fabrications. We 100% support Safe Gigs For Women and everyone.”

Meanwhile, Twitter users have weighed in on the controversy, with some insisting that the public have been too quick to believe the claims while others have sided with the individuals who reported the incident.

The father of an 18-year-old Co Monaghan woman has told an media outlet that his daughter doesn't remember anything from an incident which led to her hospitalisation last November.

Kym Owens was returning to her accommodation in Maynooth, Co Kildare when she sustained extensive head injuries at the entrance to the Moyglare Abbey estate on November 20.

Gardai initially believed the first year NUIM student had been the victim of a savage assault, but as the investigation progressed, reports circulated that Kym may have simply fallen or been struck by a vehicle.

As his daughter awaits further surgery following her medically induced coma, Ray Owens told The Herald that while she has been discharged from hospital, her memory of the incident is non-existant.

"She is not back at college yet but is up and about. She still doesn't remember anything of the incident," he explained.

It is understood that the Gardai have interviewed more than 300 people since the incident in the university town five months ago, but no arrests have been made.

Surgeons in the United States are urging the public to consider the ramifications of constant phone use as the number of young patients presenting with spinal problems increases.

According to a study published in The Spine Journal, individuals, whose age suggests they shouldn't be experiencing back and neck ailments, are complaining of various issues which experts believe is related to the use of mobile phones.

Written by Dr. Todd Lanman, a spinal neurosurgeon, and Dr. Jason Cuellar, an orthopedic spine surgeon, – both of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles – the study indicated that prolonged phone use takes its toll on an individual's posture which ultimately results in health issues.

"In an X-ray, the neck typically curves backward, and what we're seeing is that the curve is being reversed as people look down at their phones for hours each day," Dr Lanman explained.

'The real concern is that we don't know what this means down the road for kids today who use phones all day."

Speaking to Reuters Health, he added: "'By the time patients get to me, they're already in bad pain and have disc issues."

Determined to address the issue at the source, the surgeons advise the public to adopt certain positions when using their phone or laptops.

From holding your phone in front of your face and ensuring that your computer is at eye level to allowing your head to hand over the edge of your bed in an extended stretch, the surgeons are keen to address the issue of 'text neck' before a whole generation is plagued with disc issues.

At this stage, there are very, very few among us who don't know the benefits of breaking a sweat on the regular.

And while you may look, feel and sleep better by incorporating an exercise regime into your life, did you know that some forms of cardio can actually increase your life span?

According to scientists at Iowa State University, 60 minutes of running ultimately provides you with an extra seven hours of life.

Developing on a study which established that 10 minutes of running a day reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, Duck-chul Lee, a professor of kinesiology at Iowa State, focussed further on the benefits of the exercise.

Data published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology indicated that running decreased the risk of premature death by 40 per cent, and that the activity in itself increases a person's life span.

But how did researchers arrive at a figure of seven hours per 60 minute-run?

According to The New York Times, two hours of training per week translated into less than six months of your life, and ultimately increase your life expectancy by almost three years.

Simply put, runners – in comparison to non-runners – tended to live three years longer no matter their pace, their weight or their smoking habits.

Not too shabby.

United Airlines was, unsurprisingly, on the receiving end of considerable criticism yesterday after footage emerged which showed a passenger being forcibly removed from one of its aircrafts.

Bloodied and traumatised after being dragged through the plane's narrow aisle, the individual at the centre of the shocking footage repeatedly told fellow passengers he 'wanted to go home'.

As the footage went viral, United Airlines responded to the scandal, but their misuse of the word 'volunteer' did not escape the attention of the folk behind Merriam-Webster dictionary who promptly shared their statement and highlighted the error.

"Flight 3411 from Chicago to Louisville was overbooked. After our team looked for volunteers, one customer refused to leave the aircraft voluntarily and law enforcement was asked to come to the gate. We apologise for the overbook situation," read the statement,

Taking issue with the reply, Merriam-Webster's Twitter account hit back, saying: "Volunteer' means “someone who does something without being forced to do it.”

Following the airline's feeble justification for the incident, the dictionary continued to share their perspective on the response on their website.

"Some of the interest in the definition of volunteer may come from the wording of the statement from United, since a person who did not volunteer to leave was then described as refusing 'to leave the aircraft voluntarily' — and subsequently being forced to do it," they added.

It is understood that searches for the definition of the word 'volunteer' spiked by a staggering 1,900 per cent following the release of the United Airlines statement.

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are undeniably one of Hollywood’s cutest couples.

Although the pair are known for keeping a relatively low profile, Ashton has never been shy about letting everyone know just how loved up they are.

Over the weekend, Ashton, who has been known to work closely with local schools and communities, was presented with the Robert D. Ray Pilliar Character Award for demonstrating "good character as a role model" at a ceremony in his native Iowa.

Ashton began his 16- minute acceptance speech by joking that he was probably the only person to ever receive the award who was once "pulled over by a state trooper while tripping on mushrooms".

The actor then quickly turned his attention to his children and wife Mila, who was in the audience at the time. In an emotional tribute he praised Mila, saying: "I mean, I'm telling you, this morning, I woke up and she kicked my ass on character,"

He continued: "I thought I was awesome because I got up early and helped with the kids before she woke up and I let her sleep a little bit and then she's like, 'Well, now you're gonna act tired? I do it every day.' But it was a character moment, right? Because she's right!"

The actor also spoke fondly of his parents saying how he actually felt lucky after they got divorced because they ended up marrying ‘’amazing’’ people.

"As long as you have love and kindness and optimism and a pursuit of something greater in your heart, you're the lucky one"

"So this award is for you. It is for my family, it's for all four of my parents, it's for my wife, who kicks my ass on character every day."

Ashton and Mila first met on the set of hit comedy series That '70s Show back in 1998, but romance wasn’t on the cards for the couple until 2012.

The pair have been happily married since 2015 and have been our ultimate couple goals ever since!

A series of six short films produced by David Schwimmer have been met with considerable praise this week.

Part of a campaign entitled #ThatsHarassment, the former Friends star sought to highlight various incidents of sexual harassment perpetrated by men against women.

The ActorThe Co-workerThe DoctorThe BossThe Politician and The Photographer are a lesson in the sometimes subtle, sometimes obvious acts of harassment endured by women in everyday settings on a regular basis.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan, the 50-year-old actor and director explained his motivation behind the campaign.

"The whole purpose of this is to encourage people and to give them the courage to speak out if they’re a victim themselves of harassment, or if they witness or are aware of sexual harassment," he said.

"Every woman in my family, in my life, has been harassed, constantly told that you aren't worth the same as men or what you look like comes first – it makes a lot more sense to me that a lot of women don't even recognise when they’re being harassed."

Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon and Emmy Rossum of Shameless fame also appear in the campaign.

There has been considerable backlash in the UK this week following the introduction of tax regulations which require women to prove they were raped in order to receive child benefits.

The new regulation limits tax credits to the first two children unless the child was the result of a rape.

The policy has been widely condemned, with UK MP Alison Thewliss saying: "From today women will need to prove that their child was conceived as a result of rape – just in order to claim tax credits."

"It is one of the most appalling, disgraceful and demeaning policies ever to emanate from Whitehall and should never have seen the light of day, let alone the statute books."

Women who wish to seek tax relief are obliged to complete a form which explains that 'eligible women' must 'provide evidence of a conviction for rape or controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship, where this relates to the conception of your child.'

Unsurprisingly, social media has been awash with posts protesting the move, with members of the public highlighting the devastating impact the requirement is likely to have on a mother and rape survivor.

Remember the last time you longed for a quick text off your favourite milk carton? Yeah, us neither, but that doesn't mean it won't soon happen.

Wait, hear us out.

According to The Irish Times, researchers at the Science Foundation Ireland-funded Amber Centre in Trinity College are currently examining ways in which to turn everyday household items and features into smart devices.

From milk cartons which could text you a 'use-by' warning to window panes that could communicate the weather forecast, you might soon own a home that is basically alive… well, kind of.

And how would this work exactly?

According to the report, leading investigator, Professor Jonathan Coleman, and his team aim 'to take liquid dispersions of nanosheets and, by carefully tuning the liquid properties, optimise them for use as inks.'

Speaking to The Irish Times, Professor Coleman said: "Electronics has been around for donkey’s years and Intel out in Leixlip are among those making high-end, high performing transistors."

"However, unlike them we are trying to make transistors so cheaply that they could be used in pretty much anything."

But before you start naming your window panes, the team are keen to stress that this development won't be taking place today or tomorrow.

"All of this is a long way off in the future, but it is imaginable that at some point milk cartons could send messages to your phone warning that the milk is about to reach its sell-by-date," Professor Coleman added.

Well, we live in hope.
