If you grew up with an Irish mammy in a Catholic household, chances are you know that St Anthony is your only man if you're frantically hunting for something you've lost.

And while we have the man himself to thank for reuniting us with countless things over the years, one pensioner from Germany has – wait for it – a carrot to thank for his good fortune.

Three years after losing his wedding ring while doing some gardening, an elderly man from Bad Münstereifel was reunited with the piece of jewellery when it reappeared wrapped around a vegetable during a recent harvest.

No, seriously.

Having searched unsuccessfully for years, the mam and his wife resigned themselves to the notion that the ring was lost forever, but 18 months after the latter's passing, the 82-year-old widower was presented with his ring which had spent three years nestling beneath the soil.

Commenting on his good fortune, the pensioner confirmed that the ring was in perfect condition and finally back with its rightful owner.

Anyone else melting right now?

It seems like there's one controversy after another in this year's X Factor, and the latest contestant to get on the wrong side of the public is Finnish contestant Saara Aalto.

Having had her performance dubbed 'ridiculous' by Simon Cowell on Sunday night, Saara probably didn't expect her weekend to get much worse, but it looks like she was mistaken.

Slamming the star and the production theme for her Japanese-inspired performance of Sound of the Underground by Girls Aloud, X Factor viewers wasted no time branding the singer 'racist'.

"Why have they styled Sound of the Underground into a weird racist parody of Japan? I thought it couldn't get any worse this week #XFactor." wrote one viewer on Twitter in the wake of the performance.

"OK I like Saara but why is she dressed like an offensively stereotypical Japanese woman singing Sound of the Underground?? #XFactor," added another.

Commenting on the backlash this morning, Saara told Good Morning Britain hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard she thoroughly enjoyed her performance, but insists the production team had a lot to do with the concept.

"I loved it, because I love Japanese culture – I've studied it for many years." she said earlier today. "We had a party in Tokyo with that song. I wanted to bring something new, so it was kind of my idea to bring something Asian to it."

"But then, it was mainly the intro of the song that I did in an Asian way, but then the costume, the staging… they were like woah, very produced!"

Something tells us that won't be enough to placate viewers…

Remember the last time you were rooting for spare change and found yourself wishing your purse looked like a vagina?

Yeah us neither, but apparently we're in the minority if the popularity of Vachina is anything to go by.

Transforming the vagina from a figurative 'pocket' into a literal one, Bec, the designer behind Not Made In China, has created a purse based on the shape of a woman's vagina.

And just like real-life vaginas, the Vachina comes in a range of shapes and styles, with customers choosing between three variations of skin tone and hair design.

Commenting on her creations, Bec, according to The Metro, said: "The Vachina was a happy accident."

"I was actually pattern drafting a headphones pouch and my pattern testers kept saying that it looked like a vagina, so to “prove them wrong” I made one to deliberately look like a vagina with a pink zipper and with faux fur"

"I posted it as a joke on my page to have a laugh and it exploded from there, with in 48 hours I had 55 orders for them!"

Oh, and did we mention that each style has a snappy name?

So ladies, are you a Tidy Twat, Overly Manicured Muff, or the 70s Porno Puss kinda gal?

And if anyone needs us, we'll be lying in a darkened room.

It's been almost a year since a series of coordinated terrorist attacks in the French capital left 130 people dead and dozens more injured.

The horrifying events of November 13, which sent shock waves throughout Paris and the wider world, ultimately resulted in the declaration of a three-month state of emergency across France.

And today, Sting has announced that on the eve of the attacks' one-year anniversary, he will be re-opening the Bataclan Theatre which saw the slaughter of 89 concert-goers attending an Eagles of Death Metal gig on the night.

Sharing a photo of the iconic Parisian venue on Twitter, Sting wrote: "Exclusive concert in Paris for re-opening of @le_bataclan just announced for Sat., Nov. 12. Details/ticket info at http://www.sting.com."

The acclaimed star released further details on his website and was eager to explain the motivation behind his decision to take to the stage on the eve of the anniversary.

"In re-opening the Bataclan, we have two important tasks to reconcile." he began.

"First, to remember and honour those who lost their lives in the attack a year ago, and second to celebrate the life and the music that this historic theatre represents."

"In doing so we hope to respect the memory as well as the life affirming spirit of those who fell. We shall not forget them," he wrote.

It has been confirmed that all revenue from the show will be donated to Life For Paris and 13 Novembre: Fraternité Verité.

It sounds like Phillip Schofield is just like the rest of us when it comes to his fascination with Cheryl Cole's reported pregnancy.

And after the former Girls Aloud singer appeared on The One Show this week, Phillip was unable to hide his confusion over the presenters' decision not to broach the topic with the Geordie star.

"They can’t have failed to have realised that that was a very important question to ask," he said while discussing Cheryl's appearance on the show.

‘They’re very good on that show, so I can only think that the only reason they didn’t ask was because they were told not to."

Reading between the lines, Phillip came to the conclusion that Cheryl had told the show's team that that particular line of questioning was off limits.

"We know from our job here that every so often someone comes in – and I’m not saying that’s the case here – but someone comes in and says, “Under no circumstances are you to ask me about whatever," he explained to viewers.

"So normally we don’t. Sometimes we’re a bit naughty, but normally we don’t. So it appears, although I don’t know, that she may have said, “Don’t talk to me about it”. In which case – why?" Phillip wondered.

Sounding as perplexed as the rest of us, the 54-year-old This Morning host wondered if Cheryl was secretly enjoying the speculation.

"I’m not sure I understand the intricacies behind this one,’ he admitted. ‘If she is pregnant – fantastic. If she’s not, maybe she’s just enjoying all the fun."

Hmmm, we're starting to think he may be on to something.

After years of heartbreak and two subsequent best-selling albums, there's no doubt Adele has finally found the man for her in the form of Simon Konecki.

And while rumours circulate that the couple, who share a three-year-old son together, are set to tie the knot, Adele is more concerned with setting the record straight on another issue.

Having recently revealed she's ditched the razor in favour of the au natural look, the When We Were Young singer was keen to remind her fans that her partner had absolutely no say in the matter.

And rightly so.

During her candid interview with Vanity Fair where she opened up about her struggles with postnatal depression, Adele addressed body image and revealed that she only starting shaving her legs at the beginning of her tour, but generally opts for a more natural look.

Reflecting on her partner's take on her decision to ditch the razor, Adele insisted: "He has no choice!"

"I’ll have no man telling me to shave my f**kin’ legs," she said. "Shave yours.”

And that, ladies, is why we love her.

While Queen Bey has most of us eating out of the palm of her hand. the Drunk in Love singer has yet to win over a particular section of society if her recent performance at the Country Music Awards is anything to go by.

Having performed alongside the Dixie Chicks at the annual award ceremony this week, the Grammy Award winner was subject to criticism on social media from county fans who questioned the organisers' choice of performer.

With the Dixie Chicks having previously criticised former US President George Bush, the band's patriotism was the subject of much debate online while Beyoncé's stance on police brutality also came under fire.

"You're going to have Beyonce there!! Such a racist little witch, hates police, hates white people," wrote one CMA viewer. "Give me a break, this is absolutely the lowest of the low."

"Disgusting and very disappointing that country music would stoop so low and desperate," added another.

"All she's going to do is promote her devil worshipping rituals and summon demons and create more problems with the nonsense racial hate and division."

Following the fall-out from Beyoncé's appearance, fans of the star suggested organisers had removed all promotion relating to Bey's performance – an allegation the CMA's have strenuously denied.

"CMA has not erased any mentions of Beyonce’s performance on the CMA Awards, Beyonce’s performance with Dixie Chicks was a highlight of the evening and we are continuing to share the amazing full-length performance clip via our official social channel," a spokesperson confirmed.

The UN recently appointed their Honorary Ambassador for the Empowerment of Women and Girls.

And she’s a comic book character.

Albeit a bad-ass, take no sh*t gal with hair so wondrous you want to reach out and touch it, but a fictional character none the less.

With Emma Watson acting as UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, Charlize Theron as Messenger of Peace and countless other women fighting for gender equality, the mind boggles as to how the good folk at the UN suddenly came to the conclusion that they’d been barking up the wrong tree all along.

“Ah, Ala Murabit and Charlize Theron are all well and good, but they’re just too damn real. Any objections to Wonder Woman?”

In one fell swoop, the UN suggested that of the millions of women performing admirable, worthwhile tasks on a daily basis, they’ll never quite measure up to a fictional character in hot pants and headband.

And in a maddening kind of way, the idea is so absurd, so toe-curlingly offensive, so close-your-eyes-and-count-to-ten insulting, you almost – almost – have to laugh.

It’s like trying to reason with a drunk person.

“But she’s not an actual woman.”

“What? She is. Woman’s even in her name FFS.”

“She’s not a living, breathing real-life woman, lads.”

“No, but she’s so wondrous she transcends actual real-life women. And isn’t that something all you ladies should aspire to?”

In that case, how long before we kick Ban Ki-moon out of the UN Secretary-General position and replace him with He-Man?

And if the idea that the United Nations didn’t think they could find ONE worthy ambassador among millions of real-life women isn’t crushing enough, a magazine aimed at the female population has this week nominated a man for its Women of the Year award.

That’s right, ladies. As well as being a multi-millionaire with a back catalogue of number ones, Bono also has this whole 'being a woman' thing nailed down too.

Well, according to Glamour magazine's annual awards, that is.

As news broke of Bono’s nomination, many assumed it was a publicity stunt to draw attention to the other more worthy nominees who include Olympic medallist, Simone Bails, and Nobel peace prize winner Nadia Murad.

And how dispiriting, how overwhelmingly disheartening if that is, indeed, the case?

Despite there being a Nobel Prize winner and Olympic medallist to herald,  there is a suggestion that the public need a man’s name in the headline if they’re going to pay a blind bit of attention to a ceremony that honours women.

Well sure look, if the ageing male rocker doesn’t pull in enough publicity this time around, we can always give Wonder Woman the nod next year.

Or, you know, the pink Power Ranger…

She may have been only five-years-old when Christina Aguilera released Dirrty 2002, but that didn't stop Kylie Jenner perfectly recreating the look which Chrissie rocked in the now iconic music video.

In a homage to Halloween, Christina and…well… herself, Kylie shared multiple snaps and videos of her Chrissie costume on Instagram over the weekend, racking up millions of likes in the process.

Can I be XTINA forever

A video posted by Kylie (@kyliejenner) on

"Can I be XTINA forever?" she asked in one post while in another she can be seen dancing for the camera while Dirrty blared in the background.

And by the looks of things, Christina Aguilera can't get enough of Kylie's tribute to her heady days as music's most controversial female popstar.

Sharing a snap of the youngest Jenner sister working the bikini and chaps which she rocked over 14 years ago, Christina wrote on Instagram: "YAAAAS! Killin it Kylie Jenner. Yes to dirrty 2016. Get it girrrrl!"

Christina's sisterly attitude has been praised by her fans and followers, with one writing: "Women supporting other women, love it."

In fairness to Kylie, she absolutely nailed it this year.
