Debate over the acceptability of 'locker room banter' hasn't been far from the headlines this week following the circulation of leaking recordings featuring Donald Trump.

And while the general consensus suggests that the presidential candidate's misogynistic attitude was egomaniacal at best and predatorial at worst, there is a lingering undercurrent which implies the conversation was nothing more than a form of 'lad banter'.

And while countless find the latter attitude hard to comprehend, recent studies have shown that the line – for some – is incredibly blurred.

According to three studies published in the journal of Psychology of Men and Masculinities, hundreds of male students were unable to differentiate between comments made by convicted rapists and 'jokes' featured within lad-oriented magazines.

From 'If the girl you’ve taken for a drink won’t spread for your head, think about this mathematical statistic: 85 per cent of rape cases go unreported' to 'You know girls in general are all right. But some of them are b*tches. The b*tches are the type that need to have it stuffed to them hard and heavy', the men surveyed were unable to decide which category the comment fell under.

As it happens, the latter comment was the only one made by a convicted rapist while the rest were standard fodder found in magazines aimed at men.

While acknowledging that the circulation of lads mags has waned in recent years, researchers are keen to remind the public that the culture itself still exists.

"Our findings may be useful in applied attempts to engender critical thinking among young men in such contexts where equal treatment of women is a social norm, but sexism remains relevant to young men’s sexual socialization."

According to The Independent, Surrey University psychologist Professor Peter Hegarty feels the study confirms a worrying truth.

"Sales of lads' mags have declined significantly in recent years, with several ceasing publication, but 'lad culture' and the normalisation of sexism is still a major concern, particularly on university campuses and online," he asserted.

So, NUI Maynooth may have undergone some structural changes in the past five years, but whether you attended in 2005 or 2015, there's something about that college that stays with you.

From wishing they'd install even ONE extra socket in the Arts Block reading room to wondering if the 66 bus was merely a figment of your imagination on wet and windy winter nights, attending NUI Maynooth brought with it many struggles.

But not one of them overshadowed the craic you had as part of one of the soundest, friendliest colleges in the country, right?

And here are just ten ways you know you won't be forgetting your time there any day soon.

1. Tackling that Godforsaken bridge to the south campus meant you REALLY needed a pass in that module.

"I'll just go on Moodle"

2. No matter how much you squinted, the statue of Pope John Paul always reminded you of a giant beetle.

"Sorry Mam, but you'd wanna see that yoke."

3. The resident cat of the Arts Block brought balm to your soul even when she ignored you.

"She's chilling out by the automatic doors, sure."

4. From the day you started to the day you graduated, you never managed to orientate yourself inside the library.

"How have we ended up back here AGAIN? Try those stairs."

5. The noise of the blender in Juicy Lucy made your fillings rattle and your temples contract.

"My hangover cannot cope with this."

6.  The canteen fire of 2008 was the defining moment of your time in NUIM.

"I'll never forget where I was…"

7. Mantra's opening night was your cue to get yourself some hefty notions.

"A round of strawberry daiquiris, Saoirse?"

8. The mile-long queue for O'Briens in the John Hume building made you question your love of carbs, but then you got called 'hun' by the friendliest woman on the planet.

"Worth it, definitely worth it."

9. A bottle of Kinsey vodka from Dunnes signalled a week off lectures.

"It's grand, I'll split it with everyone."

10. Manor Mills was the place to go when you needed a little last minute style.

"It's grand, we'll just grab a few nice tops and meet up in the Roost."

While there's been radio silence from Kim Kardashian herself, a number of people – including family members  – have been willing to update the public on the reality star's condition since being held at gunpoint by a gang in Paris last week.

Speaking earlier this week, her younger sister, Khloe, explained that the family have realised the importance of making adjustments in light of the burglary, but was less forthcoming when it came to Kim's reaction to the incident.

However, a source close to Kim and Kanye has revealed that the mother-of-two is struggling both mentally and physically since being gagged and bound in her Parisian apartment.

"Kim is very paranoid still when she is alone," the insider revealed. "She has been having flashbacks and hasn't been sleeping well."

Acknowledging the massive support network she has, Kim is looking to the future, with the source adding; "She is hoping with time it all gets better. Now is about recovering and being around the people she loves and trusts."

While the family have attempted to shield its younger members from last week's ordeal, it seems Kim's daughter North has picked up on her mother's distress.

"Being around her children is the biggest distraction for her mind. North West is aware her mom is sad and not herself, but Kanye and Kim are trying not to talk about it around her."

Kim has taken a step back from filming and promotional events in the aftermath of last week's ordeal.

Despite the intense speculation which has surrounding her pregnancy, there's no denying that Stephanie Davis has appeared to relish every moment of her nine-month journey.

So, it may come as no real surprise that the former Hollyoaks star is already planning on doing it all over again in the future.

Opening up about the latest developments in her column for OK!, the Celebrity Big Brother contestant admitted that her bump has brought her comfort during some of the more intense periods of press speculation.

"I know I have a few months to go yet but I already know I'm going to miss being pregnant," she wrote. "With him in my belly I feel so close to him. I feel extra safe and protected because he's there with me all the time."

Stephanie, whose relationship with Dublin model, Jeremy McConnell, was the topic of much online debate this year, insists that she would like to have a bigger family when she meets the right person.

"When the time is right I want to meet someone and have a nice family. I don't want him to be on his own." she explained.

"One day, I would love to give him a brother or sister. I'd definitely have more, I want him to have someone to play with like I did with my three younger brothers."

It looks like there's no love lost between Nicki Minaj and Sharon Osbourne if a recent interview with the rapper is anything to go by.

While chatting with Marie Claire recently, the Anaconda singer pulled the X Factor judge up on her apparent hypocrisy when it comes to women within the entertainment industry.

Drawing attention to comments Sharon made regarding Nicki's Anaconda artwork back in 2014, Nicki suggested that the reality star has a warped view of what is and isn't acceptable when it comes to the female body.

Speaking at the time, Sharon compared the cover to pornography, saying: "This looks like a cheap porno cover of a DVD… I love women’s bodies. I love nudity, but this is cheap."

And yet when Kim Kardashian shared a nude selfie online, Sharon was among Kim's supporters – something which Nicki struggles to understand.

"When Kim Kardashian’s naked picture came out Sharon Osbourne praised it and my fans attacked her for being such a hypocrite," Nicki told the magazine.

"So it wasn’t trashy and raunchy when a white woman did it but it was when a black woman did it?" Nicki asked while reflecting on the apparent hypocrisy.

The star, who is known for speaking her mind and drawing attention to inequality within the music industry, says she's learned to accept it on some levels.

"It’s quite pathetic and sad but that is my reality and I’ve gotten accustomed to just shutting it down." she added.

Sharon? Your move.

For anyone who hasn't been keeping up to speed with the goings on of former Girls Aloud members, Sarah Harding has been busy treading the boards in Blackpool as Molly in Ghost the Musical.

But it doesn't exactly sound like she's been captivating audiences if Twitter is anything to go by.

Having been forced to pull out of her Monday night performance due to a knee injury, Sarah was replaced by understudy Kelly Hampson who reportedly pulled off the performance actually expected of Sarah.

Taking to Twitter to pour scorn on Sarah's depiction of Demi Moore's on-screen character, members of the public didn't hold back.

"Just been to see Ghost and I've never heard anyone sing as bad as Sarah Harding," wrote one.

"Thank god Sarah Harding understudy came on half way through, I've never heard or seen someone that bad in a show!" added another.

"Sarah Harding was an embarrassment, she can't sing and kept talking over co stars lines I won't be wasting money," commented another.

It's going to be hard to come back from that amount of criticism…

Having previously launched a streetwear line and shoe collection, Zayn Malik is no stranger to the world of fashion, but his latest endeavour within the industry is bound to set his star soaring.

According to The New York Times, the former 1D member recently caught the attention of Donatella Versace who has chosen to team up and design a clothing line with the young singer.

Having met the Bradford-native during London Fashion Week, Donatella admitted she was pleasantly surprised by the relationship he shared with Gigi Hadid as well as his enthusiasm for fashion.

"I met him again when he started to date Gigi, who I work with all the time. And he impressed me very much –  he was so mature, so thoughtful, treated her like such a gentleman," Donatella told The Times.

"They are very nice young people, a lovely couple, in fact. And then he told me how much he loved fashion. It was then I knew he was the right face for what I had in mind."

Commenting on the capsule collection,  Zayn X Versus, which will hit stores in May of next year, the acclaimed designer insisted that the project goes far beyond the standard celeb collaboration.

"Many celebrities do clothing lines that just aren't relevant," she added. "This one? It will be. He's smart to do it with me."

And Zayn sounds equally excited at the prospect of working with one of the most famous people in the industry.

"The bonus is that I get to collaborate with Donatella, whom I love and admire. I know we'll create something amazing."

Something tells us they may be on to a good thing with this one.

Just weeks on from the announcement that Cathriona White's estranged husband, Mark Burton, had initiated legal action against Jim Carrey, Cathriona's family have announced the same intention.

Cathriona, a make-up artist from Tipperary who died in Los Angeles in September 2015, had been dating the Hollywood star at the time of her death, and it appears her family feel he played a part in her untimely demise.

Confirming their intention to file against the Bruce Almighty star, Brigid Sweetman said: "As a family, we want the world to know the truth about who Jim Carrey really is."

"A man that will give your daughter three STDs, lie about it, call her terrible names and demean her, use his high priced lawyers to try and shut her and her family up, and then give her illegal drugs."

According to a statement obtained by ET Online, Cathriona's mother said: "Jim Carrey should be ashamed of what he did to my daughter."

"And he should be ashamed for how he has used his Hollywood attorneys to badmouth Cat’s husband Mark with the hope that nobody will hold him responsible for what he did," she added.

Supporting her late daughter's estranged husband's suspicions about the 54-year-old actor, Bridgid added: "Every mother and father that has a daughter should read Cat’s handwritten letter to Jim and decide for themselves what kind of a guy he really is."

Responding to developments this week, Carrey's attorney, Marty Singer, said: "It is understandable that a mother who has lost a daughter will look for someone to blame."

"But in directing her grief and rage at Jim Carrey and joining this ridiculous lawyer's attempt to capitalize on Cathriona's suicide, Mrs. Sweetman is heading down the same dark path as Cathriona's green-card 'husband,' Mark Burton," he added.

Cathriona's mother filed the lawsuit in Los Angels on Tuesday.

For the countless fans who missed out on a Coldplay ticket last Friday morning, the latest news to emerge on the back of the Ticketmaster controversy won't make for pleasant reading today.

According to reports, Coldplay will not – repeat, will not –  be adding a second date to the Irish leg of their tour.

Dashing the hopes of fans around the country, MCD manager Denis Desmond confirmed that the suggestion simply isn't an option for Chris and the lads.

"There won’t be a second Coldplay gig in Dublin. They don’t have the time." he confirmed when quizzed on the issue.

“The band is playing only 15 gigs in Europe next Summer and only two in the UK," he added.

While their Irish fans won't be treated to a second date, a number of other European cities are getting the two-day treatment.

Bitter? Us? Yes.

Look, Geordie Shore's Gaz didn't hit the big-time by offering an insightful commentary into global politics, but if his latest column for the Daily Star is anything to go by, the reality star has been only dying to weigh in on Donald Trump's presidential campaign and the controversy that surrounds it.

And while the rest of the world have made up their minds on this one, it looks like Gaz is having a hard time deciding exactly how he feels about the business tycoon.

In a lengthy post, a seemingly confused Gaz lurches between celebrating Trump's 'success' with women to condemning his misogynistic behaviour.

"He's a player when it comes to women. He's a f***ing Silverback, in fact. The man has appeared in Playboy, FFS. I bow down to him," Gaz wrote.

"Their bedroom at the White House, should he get in, is going to get a bashing, ya know."

"He cheated on his first wife Ivana with hot model Marla Maples, then bagged his latest one while on a date with another person, yet that didn't stop the tiger asking for Melania's digits."

And while you'd be forgiven for thinking Trump had a stalworth supporter in the 28-year-old Geordie lad, Gaz then turned his attention to the recently leaked Trump Tapes.

"Hands up. I am guilty of locker room banter, but I am a lad enjoying life, who pulls birds and has had a lot of sex. Here's the thing though, I would never boast about forcing myself on "beautiful women", let alone do it in the first place," he wrote.

"We may have had our fair share of bell-ends (Nigel Farage included), but personally, I prefer our leaders not to talk about grabbing women by the "p***y". Gaz opined. "Mrs Trump, you are one lucky woman. Not."

In a few short paragraphs, Gaz veers between saying he would bow down to the Trump to slamming him for his predatorial attitude towards women before eventually turning his attention to the American public.

"You know what, America, there's a reason clowns keep appearing around the States. It's because having Trump as a Presidential candidate has made your country into a circus," he finished.

Well, thanks for that Gaz. It was as clear as… mud.

Just a few days after she sent Instagram into a tailspin with a series of nude shots, Jodie Marsh has taken to Twitter to announce she has had a run-in with the law.

The fitness enthusiast, who split from her husband of eight months last April, has been busy retweeting reports that she has been arrested for harassment.

Without offering her fans and followers any specific details, the 37-year-old tweeted: "I'm not allowed to comment sadly but if you see @KTSTalentMgt – he is my spokesperson from now on…."

Considering she couldn't provide her followers with an insight into the circumstances which led to her arrest, you'd be forgiven for thinking the former glamour model might lay low, but instead appeared to boast about the incident.

"You thought I was a bad girl cos I'm covered in tattoos and ride Harleys….. now I'm the ULTIMATE bad girl #arrested." she tweeted.

"To sum up; I have been arrested and charged with "harassment" – see @KTSTalentMgt for details… I'm a very bad girl…."

Fans of the star wasted no time throwing shade at Jodie's ex, James Placido, with one writing: "Sorry to read about the stuff you are going through. It is a shame how your Ex behaves."

"Wow – your well rid of him. You deserve so much better x," added another.
