Earlier today while appearing on The Howard Stern Show, Ben Stiller revealed that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2014.

Following on from his chat with Howard, the much-loved actor published an essay which detailed his diagnosis and offered an insight into his thought process at the time.

"As my new, world-altering doctor spoke about cell cores and Gleason scores, probabilities of survival, incontinence and impotence, why surgery would be good and what kind would make the most sense, his voice literally faded out like every movie or TV show about a guy being told he had cancer," Ben wrote.

"A classic Walter White movement, except I was me, and no one was filming anything at all," he added.

After undergoing a routine prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test in June 2014, Ben, who married actress Christine Taylor in 2000, was dealt the devastating blow, but insists he is grateful and urges men to get tested.

"Taking the PSA test saved my life. Literally. That's why I am writing this now," he wrote. "If i had waited, as the American Cancer Society recommends, until I was 50 I would not have known I had a growing tumour until two years after I got treated."

"If I had followed the US Preventative Services Task Force guidelines, I would have never gotten tested at all and not have known I had cancer until it was way too late to treat successfully."

Explaining that he immediately sought the advice of Meet the Parents co-star Robert De Niro, who was also diagnosed with the disease, writing: "The first thing I did when I got diagnosed was get on the internet to try to learn. I saw De Niro had had it. I called him right away."

Ben, a father-of-two, underwent a prostatectomy three months later and is now cancer-free.

"As of this writing I am two years cancer free and extremely grateful," the 50-year-old said in a piece which has been published in Medium.

She may have had a role in one of Britain's biggest soaps at the height of its popularity, but it was Danniella Westbrook's struggle with chronic drug addiction which made her a household name in the 90s.

Having destroyed her septum through regular cocaine abuse, the former EastEnders actress spent years attempting to rebuild her life and career, and most recently enjoyed a stint in the Celebrity Big Brother house.

But if emails which were purported to have been sent from Danniella's private email account are to be believed, the 42-year-old star has suffered a major relapse, and may be using cocaine again.

in correspondence which was reportedly sent to the Daily Star, Danniella is alleged to have written: "I have relapsed and I’m trying to stop using but it’s a long road ahead."

"I feel broken and that I’m back to square one and my first form of defence is cocaine," the email reads.

However, it sounds like there may be more to the email than meets the eye as recent reports claim the actress was unaware of the story and insists her private email account had been hacked.

According to The Mirror, Danniella's representative was equally baffled by the story and confirms she has not been speaking to the media.

In recent months, Danniella claimed she been the victim of stalkers and hackers, and  made the decision to take a step back from social media in August of this year.

Taylor Swift may say she's all about the ladies in her life, but as far as Demi Lovato is concerned Taylor's priorities are totally out of whack when it comes to female empowerment.

In a move which is set to put Tay and the squad on high alert, the former Disney star has made reference to the singer's decision to use her feud with Katy Perry to sell records and curry favour with fans.

Speaking to Yahoo, Demi refused to beat around the bush when it came to Taylor's record Bad Blood, saying: "I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that's not women's empowerment."

And when it comes to Taylor's uber-famous galpal gang which include Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Karlie Kloss, Demi fears the squad's appearance may be detrimental to young women's perception of their own body image.

"This will probably get me in trouble, but I don't see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body," Demi said. "It's kind of this false image of what people should look like."

And if this week has taught us anything, it's that Demi is all about the accurate portrayal of women's bodies.

Just three months after the death of much-loved writer, actress and comedian Caroline Aherne, her ex-husband has come forward with claims that the star abused him over the course of their marriage.

In his new autobiography, Peter Hook of New Order and Joy Division fame has claimed that the star attacked him with knives and bottles during their three-year marriage in the mid-nineties.

"Yes, I loved her, yes, she could be very funny, and there were times I felt privileged to have a private audience with such a great comic talent," Peter wrote.

"But she was also a very troubled person and nowhere did that manifest itself more than in our relationship," he added.

Outraged by the allegations levelled at his late sister, Patrick Aherne has taken to social media to express his disgust over the musician's claims.

"I am so disgusted by the claims made by Peter Hook in most of the tabloids today. Hook was married to my sister over 20 years ago and they were divorced because the marriage did not work well." Peter wrote.

"What sort of man would make these claims after the death of Caroline? Is this because she is not here to defend herself? Why did it take Hook 20 years to make these claims?"

"R.I.P Caroline – the world knows you were an amazing woman. I do not think the world will be saying the same about the excuse of a man called Peter Hook," he finished.

Caroline died of throat cancer in July.

If you – like us –  find yourself lying about the number of coffees you get through in a day, the good folk from the world of science are here to tell us that we no longer have to live a lie.

While your friends and co-workers reach for their second litre of water and you guzzle down your fourth flat white, experts in the field suggest you stop hiding you habit and start boasting about the benefits.

According to a recent study, your coffee habit will stand to you in the future, with findings suggesting that women over 65 who drink two or three cups of coffee per day reduce the risk of dementia by a third.

With the help of almost 6,500 women, researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee established that caffeine consumption of more than 261 mg per day was associated with a staggering 36 per cent reduction in the risk of dementia.

"The mounting evidence of caffeine consumption as a potentially protective factor against cognitive impairment is exciting given that caffeine is also an easily modifiable dietary factor with very few contraindications," lead author Professor Ira Driscoll explained.

"What is unique about this study is that we had an unprecedented opportunity to examine the relationships between caffeine intake and dementia incidence in a large and well-defined, prospectively-studied cohort of women."

The study's authors explain that the level of caffeine recorded in the study equate with two to three 8-oz cups of coffee per day, five to six 8-oz cups of black tea, or seven to eight 12-ounce cans of cola.

Get thee to the local cafe, ladies!

It's the conception their fans and followers have been discussing since news broke Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne had become an official item last December.

From analysing Cheryl's loose-fitting dresses and books on motherhood to discussing her mum's trips to Mothercare, the public have found themselves on one serious 'bump watch', and this week it looks like we got the first glimpse of it.

Posing at a L'Oreal event in Paris this week, Cheryl appeared to be boasting a burgeoning bump, and bookies have gone into meltdown as fans place wagers on when that oh-so-important announcement will be officially made.

But it looks like the public's enthusiasm for the couple's potential announcement has resulted in one bookmaker deciding to suspend bets for the time being.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Coral's John Hill said: "After being flooded with bets over the last 48 hours on Cheryl announcing she is pregnant before the year is out, we have decided to pull the plug on this market for now."

"The sheer intensity of this gamble suggests an announcement could be imminent," he added.

The bookmaker's announcement comes after the former Girls Aloud star was forced to disable comments on her Instagram account after eager fans inundated with her questions over that appearance for L'Oreal.

Arguments for and against gun control in the United States have waged back and forth between pro-gun lobbyists and anti-gun campaigners for decades.

And it looks like the National Rifle Association of America have decided to use Kim Kardashian's recent ordeal in France to taunt those who insist tighter gun control would result in fewer violent crimes.

Referencing France's stance on gun law, the association posted a series of sarcastic tweets which they feel highlights the supposed lack of logic from the anti-gun camp.

"Wait, criminals held @KimKardashian at gunpoint in Paris?" they tweeted late last night. "How is that possible? Does anyone know if they passed a background check first?"

"It's shocking that these criminals did not subject themselves to Paris' strict #guncontrol laws before committing this awful crime."

The association, which held a rally in Columbine shortly after the town's notorious school shooting in 1999, continued in this vein, tweeting: "We just think criminals should stop breaking the law. Oh wait."

Implying that stricter gun control has little bearing on criminal activity, they added: "NRA expresses confusion about how this happened. Guns aren’t really allowed in Paris, so…."

Many Twitters users were unsurprisingly put out by the association's perceived lack of sympathy for Kim, with one writing: "Nothing better than a snarky know-it-all in the wake of a tragedy."

"Excellent PR move there. Maybe you weren't hated enough yet. Sheesh," they added.

"What's more shocking is your lack of humanity," tweeted another in reply to the organisation's stance on the matter.

Kim has since returned to the States following Monday morning's incident.

We all know that reality stars come in for whole host of abuse at the hands of keyboard warriors.

And while some force themselves to rise above it, not everyone is capable of turning a blind eye to the insults they receive on a daily basis.

Opening up about her response to online trolling, Geordie Shore star, Sophie Kasaei, admitted that the taunting became so bad, she turned to cosmetic surgery to silence her bullies.

Speaking to new! magazine, the reality star explained that a particular period in her life had caused her to drop multiple dress sizes – weight loss which Twitter users felt compelled to call her out on.

"When I lost the weight last year people were tweeting us saying l looked like a Space Raider crisp, like an alien," Sophie admitted.

Explaining that the comments left her feeling insecure over her appearance, the reality star admitted that she had sought the help of professionals, adding: "So I got fillers in my face and under my eyes."

Sophie dropped to a size 8 last year while suffering from stress.

Remember when Geordie Shore's Charlotte appeared on Lorraine Kelly's chat show and was forced to defend herself against the host's barrage of criticism?

From slamming Charlotte's on-screen antics to criticising her distinct lack of bladder control, Lorraine really went to town on the reality TV show.

And while fans of the star and viewers of the show criticised Lorraine's heavy-handed approach, Charlotte was quick to jump to her defence.

Speaking at the time, she acknowledged the tough nature of the interview and  said Lorraine has gone a "bit far, but was dead nice."

However, it looks like Char has had a serious change of heart since the controversial interview took place and recently admitted she hated the chat show host.

While chatting with The Style on Facebook Live this week, Charlotte was asked to name her least favourite celebrity.

"Lorraine Kelly is a b**ch. I went on her morning show and she was so horrible to us," she vented.

"She didn’t even just be horrible in one answer, she continued and continued. She had it in for us, she hated my guts!"

Momentarily reining herself in, Charlotte then said: "Hate is a strong word so I strongly dislike her. I would never go on her show again. It was c***."

Lorraine, that's you told.

Just a day after Kim Kardashian West was held at gunpoint by a group of burglars in her Parisian accommodation, authorities investigating the crime are pursuing a line of enquiry which suggests the crime may have stemmed from a member of Kim's own team.

Speaking to the New York Post, a source told the paper that officials believe that the gang involved had ties with the 35-year-old star's own entourage.

"French police suspect that the five alleged robbers had some contact with her security and were tipped off about her procedures." they revealed.

"They knew there was no security with her inside her apartment that night. All they had to do was go in, make contact with someone inside the hotel." they added.

According to those in the know, alibis and witness testimony don't add up, with the source revealing: "They have issues with the story of more than one worker at the hotel."

"They are also talking to bodyguards who worked with her earlier in the week.”

The mum-of-two, who has been reunited with Kanye and her family back in LA, had $8.5 million dollars worth of jewellery stolen in Monday morning's incident.

Remember how hideous it was when a middle-aged teacher would utter words like ‘orgasm’ or ‘ejaculation’ when attempting to educate you and your class on the wonder that is the human reproductive system?

While we all made it out of those particular Biology classes alive (only just, mind), the hideous memories came flooding back this week when we heard Pat Kenny throwing the word ‘gee’ around on national radio like nobody’s business.

Assuming the much-loved broadcaster had momentarily lost his mind and forgotten the mike was switched on, we soon realised good ol’ Pat was simply trying to get to grips with a butter-like product known as ghee.

Inviting what we can only assume is a ghee expert to join him in the studio for a crash course on the aforementioned product, she and Pat indulged in numerous innuendo with wild abandon.

And listeners all over Ireland instantly regretted ever purchasing a radio.

We mean, did he really need to use the word over and over? And did she really need to invite him to smell her ghee? And did he really need to ask her how she uses her ghee?

No they didn’t, but now we all know…. and there's nothing any of us can do about it.

Stepping into the shoes of America’s favourite chat show host is no easy feat, so Miley Cyrus should be giving herself a serious pat on the back for this week’s efforts.

With Ellen DeGeneres unfortunately unable to host her own show, the Wrecking Ball singer was called into action, and she pretty much nailed it.

We all know there’s no one quite like Ellen, but the 23-year-old star did a damn good job channelling her.
