Along with Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell was instrumental in creating the 'supermodel’ phenomenon.

Setting themselves apart from other women in the industry throughout the 80s and 90s, Naomi and her counterparts enjoyed worldwide fame, and soon became synonymous with fast living, front pages and fashion runways.

But at the age of 46, you’d be forgiven for thinking the Londoner might now be happy to take a step back and allow the Kendalls and Gigis of the world to flourish, but that’s just not the Naomi we all know and love.

Reminding the public she still has what it takes to wow the masses and astound the fashion pack, Naomi took to the runway during Milan Fashion Week, and epitomised the supermodel aura she helped to create.

Walking for Versace, Naomi showcased Donatella’s latest creation in athleisure, and let's be fair, she absolutely slayed.

Since its launch in 2009, Modern Family has been lauded for its treatment of adoption,  same-sex couples, and multi-cultural families.

And in keeping with the trend, the makers of the hit ABC show have confirmed that they are thrilled to feature the first openly transgender child actor on television in their next episode.

Taking to Instagram last night, the episode's director, Ryan Case, shared a snap of herself with the budding star, and could barely contain her delight at having him on set.

"This is Jackson Millarker. He's 8 years old, from Atlanta, and just happens to be transgender," Ryan wrote alongside her snap.

"He plays Lily's friend Tom in this week's Modern Family and he's wonderful," she continued. "One of the many reasons I love being a part of this show."

While there were some cruel remarks, the vast majority of Instagram users were pumped for Jackson, with one writing: "Awesome! So glad we are finally getting to a place where young ones are feeling safe enough to be vocal and express themselves how they choose to."

"Of course there will always be those few who speak against it… ahem…. a few of the above comments…. but it will take small steps to erase the ignorance of many," she continued.

"Cheers to you Jackson and to taking small steps in the right direction!"

Jackson will feature in the show's latest episode 'A Stereotypical Day'.

It took Larry Mullen's notice on a bulletin board in Mount Temple to put the wheels in motion, and four decades later U2 is still going strong.

And while the music world may be celebrating the remarkable milestone, the four Dubliners look less enthused by their impending 40th anniversary.

Taking to Instagram this week, Larry, Bono, Edge and Adam shared an insight into their attitude to the band's birthday, and it's pretty funny, to be fair.

#U240

Looking miserable and awkward, the guys sat amongst party paraphernalia in footage which has been viewed 79,000 times since its upload yesterday.

Fans of the band took this opportunity to offer their congratulations, with one writing: "Your music has been my life, I was only 15 when I first started listening to the music of U2."

"Listening to your music is like coming home – thank you for 40 years of great music, love and inspiration!" added another.

So, the lads may not be too happy, but the fans definitely are.

*Oh, and bonus points for Adam's jaunty hat.*

Tom Hanks is a man of the people – we all know this.

From reuniting a Fordham University student with her ID to posing alongside a sleeping college student in a rowdy pub, the Forrest Gump actor is the kind of star you might actually feel comfortable approaching for an autograph.

Or – if you're super lucky – cosying up with during the most exciting photo shoot of your life as one couple in New York discovered this week.

While posing for their wedding shots in Central Park, Elizabeth and Ryan made the acquaintance of the Oscar-winning star who decided to get involved in their celebrations, and Instagram is (unsurprisingly) having a field day.

Sharing a collage of the incredible moment, photographer Meg Miller wrote: "Yesterday's wedding was so beautiful! Elisabeth and Ryan you planned one amazing celebration."

"The icing on the cake was @tomhanks stopping in Central Park to wish them congratulations."

From shaking the hand of the groom to kissing the hand of the bride, Tom played an absolute blinder, and nabbed himself countless more fans in the process.

"Totally awesome…Love Tom Hanks!" wrote one on the photographer's Instagram while another added: "Mr Tom Hanks is simply the best! And best wishes for happy and lucky couple."

How jealous are you right now?!

Celebrities are used to the old comparison game.

Whether it's the roles they choose, the relationships they embark on or the ensemble they opt for, Hollywood's heavy-hitters know that carving out a unique identity is essential if you don't want to get left behind.

And while many have created a distinct persona which allows them to stand out from the crowd, it looks like a number forgot to factor in that one particular pitfall.

That's right ladies, when it comes to our favourite celebrities, most have fallen head-first into the trap of looking like a discarded mattress.

Whether it was an on-stage moment, red-carpet event, or quick dash to the shops, some of Tinseltown's biggest names have stepped out looking like something that gets propped against a skip before being piddled on by a passing dog.

And one Reddit user is determined to name and shame the industry's biggest offenders.

Jeez guys, clones much?!

Who wore it better?

Some take dozens a day and others opt for a more minimal approach, but there are very, very few amongst us who don't indulge in the odd selfie from time to time.

And it turns out this little habit, which older generations literally can't get their heads around, is pretty good for us.

Exploring the phenomenon during a recent study, researchers at the University of California established that taking selfies has a positive effect on the individual's mental health.

Using 41 students – 28 female and 13 male – psychologists analysed the group's day to day routine for four weeks and requested that participants – in the first week – make note of their mood and the time or event which influenced it at least three times a day.

In the three weeks which followed the introductory period, students were required to take a photo each time they made note of their mood change.

Dividing the group into three, one were instructed to take a smiling selfie, another were asked to snap a place or object which brought them joy while the third were asked to take a photo of something that would make someone else happy before sending it to them.

Researchers soon established that the group which indulged in multiple selfie shoots over the course of three weeks were happier and more confident than their fellow participants.

And that's all we need to know.

Not long after news landed that Brangelina had come to an end, rumours began swirling that Jennifer Aniston's marriage to Justin Theroux was also on the rocks.

While some media outlets suggested Jennifer was overjoyed by the news her ex had parted ways with Angelina, other outlets began casting aspersions on her own long-term relationship.

And it looks like Jen's husband, Justin, is keen to set the record straight and explain exactly why his and Jennifer's marriage works.

While being interviewed on Entertainment Tonight this week, the actor explained that the formula needed for a happy relationship is far from confusing.

"We appreciate each other's sense of humour, we respect one another and we get along," he told the show's host, Nischelle Turner.

"I know it sounds simple but it's true!"he added in response to reports that Jen and Justin may also be headed for the divorce courts.

The couple, who began dating in 2011, tied the knot last year.

When Stephanie Davis announced her pregnancy earlier this year, the former Hollyoaks actress was plagued by reports and rumours that the pregnancy was nothing more than a publicity stunt.

And while Stephanie defended herself online and in interviews, it took months for the Celebrity Big Brother contestant to escape the doubt that surrounded her when news first landed that she and Jeremy McConnell were expecting a child together.

But seven months into her nine-month journey, the reality star's obvious bump began to do the talking for her… until it disappeared, that is.

Taking to Snapchat this week, the 23-year-old shared a shot of herself on a her 'babymoon', and her distinct lack of bump got fans and followers talking.

"Feel like Stephanie Davis's bump changes size every time I see a pic of her," wrote one confused fan of the star.

"Cannot actually deal with Stephanie Davis's bump, why is it huge in some pics and non existent in others?" asked one while another added: "Umm, Steph where's your baby?"

In fairness, you can see where the confusion arises… right?

When we come to think of it, Daniel O'Donnell and Peter Andre have a lot more in common than people might realise.

As well as being fairly nimble on their feet, they obviously know how to carry a tune or two and are, most importantly, adored by mammies and grannies the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland,

So, when we stumbled upon this snap of the pair posing for a photo before appearing on Loose Women last week, we couldn't help but imagine the mania – sorry, insania – which would ensue if that pair decided to join forces and release a duet.

Sharing the snap on Twitter in recent days. Daniel's wife Majella wrote: "Great to chat up with @MrPeterAndre"

That's right, ladies. Not 'CATCH up with' or 'chat TO', but 'chat up with'…

Looks like Majella came over all funny surrounded by that slick pair… and who wouldn't, in fairness?

Considering the speed with which some celebrities dip in and out of relationships, Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston's break -up could definitely be considered old news at this stage.

And yet, it looks like the drama which surrounded Tom since sparking up a romance with Tay tay back in the day isn't far from Lea Michele's mind.

While appearing on Ellen this week, the former Glee star was asked to choose between male celebs for, know, wining, dining and general merriment, and while she was super gracious about the vast majority of those 'on offer', her defences went up when it came to Tom.

"He's got too much going on, Tom Hiddleston," she said with a dismissive wave of her hand.

"I can't get in – I can't get with that. I can't. It's a lot," she insisted.

And while Ellen sought to reassure her the door had been closed on the love story that was Hiddleswift, Lea wasn't having any of it

Check out the magic moment here.

How many times have you said yes for fear of causing offence, creating tension or engendering ill will?

As women, we’re offered daily reminders that we frequently take on too much or put ourselves out for others due to an innate desire to please all of the people all of the time.

Self-help features and handy listicles on the phenomenon regularly saturate our news feeds – Setting Boundaries And Saying No21 Ways To ‘Give Good No', How To Stop Saying Yes When You Want To Say No – and call to mind the countless times we’ve found ourselves reluctantly complying in daily life.

While these quirky write-ups generally focus on the holy grail that is the ‘perfect’ work / life balance, they do, inadvertently, act as a reminder that when it comes matters of consent, a simple ‘no’ is sometimes not an option.

And yet despite this, it does not mean that the matter of consent is any less black and white.

We may live in a Fifty Shades Of Grey society, but suggesting that the matter falls under any one of those shades is the reason why so many sexual assault cases fail to make it to trial.

If we struggle to say no to a party invite, tie ourselves in knots over declining an after-work coffee or utter a resigned ‘yes’ to an unexpected and totally inconvenient task, how can we be expected to properly articulate ourselves when in fear for our lives?

The matter of consent has dominated headlines in recent months and beneath calls for judicial review and longer sentences in rape cases, there lurks a narrative which suggests that when she doesn’t say no, she ultimately means yes.

From Brock Turner’s laughable three-month stint behind bars to the number of rape cases which collapse before and after making it to trial, there is no doubting the fact that society, as a whole, needs a lesson in consent.

Highlighting the stark difference which exists between consent and submission in last night’s episode of The Fall, Gillian Anderson’s character, Stella, attempted to placate the husband of a woman who struggled to understand his wife’s reaction to being abducted.

Stupefied that she hadn’t screamed or raised the alarm, and instead linked arms with her assailant, he frantically sought answers.

“Men always think in terms of fight or flight. In fact, the most common instinct in the face of this kind of threat is to freeze,” Stella told him.

“If she didn’t fight, if she didn’t scream, if she was silent and numb, it’s because she was petrified. If she went with him quietly, it’s because she was afraid for her life.”

“In that state of fear, she might well have been compliant. She might well have submitted. But that does not mean she consented.”

If we struggle to say no when pressed for an after-work drink, how likely is it we can say no when we’re not certain we’ll make it out of the exchange alive?
