A free helpline aimed at assisting women who have used online abortion pills is set to be launched across the county.

According to The Independent, The British Pregnancy Advisory Service will be providing women in Ireland with confidential aftercare while offering reassurance and advice to those who have taken tablets ordered from two websites.

Commenting on the launch, BPAS chief executive Ann Furedi said: "What these women really need are accessible, high-quality abortion services at home."

Acknowledging the Repeal the 8th debate currently raging across the country, she added: "They shouldn't have to make the choice between travelling to England and breaking the law by purchasing pills online."

"While we wait for politicians to do the right thing, BPAS will provide telephone aftercare to women who have bought pills online from these two women's organisations and who want to speak to someone in confidence about what they are experiencing, or who simply need a reassuring voice at the end of the line,"

As it stands in the Republic, the offence of procuring an abortion carries a potential 14-year jail sentence while in Northern Ireland the maximum penalty for the crime of administering a drug to induce miscarriage is life imprisonment.

It is understood that the new helpline staffed by nurses will be advertised in newspapers in Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the Isle of Man.

The announcement has been met with criticism from Pro-Life campaigners.

Niamh Uí Bhriain of Life Institute argued: "Maybe they would consider putting this time and money into actually helping women, who are all too often seeking abortions in fear and panic, have their babies and raise their babies."

Following multiple reports that Galaxy Note 7 phones have caught fire or exploded in recent weeks, Samsung, who have sold more than one million Note 7 smartphones in 10 countries so far including South Korea and the US, have made the decision to issue a worldwide recall.

Suspending sales of the smartphone, the company's president, Koh Dong-jin, has confirmed that an investigation carried out by the company discovered that a particular battery cell was causing the sudden fires.

Acknowledging the 35 confirmed cases, Koh said: "We have received several reports of battery explosion on the Note 7 that was officially launched on 19 August, and it has been confirmed that it was a battery cell problem."

Expressing regret over the incidents, he advised the public that anyone who has purchased a Note 7 will be entitled to swap it for a new smartphone regardless of the purchase date.

"For customers who already have Galaxy Note 7 devices, we will voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming week," a spokesperson for the company confirmed.

It has been established that Samsung – a south Korean company – would require two weeks to prepare replacement devices for the faulty phones, and the planned release for the model in several European countries has now been suspended.

Customers affected in Ireland can contact 01 6950367 to arrange a replacement over the coming weeks.

There are very few of us who manage to navigate adult life without falling foul to a few moments of total idiocy.

Whether it's confusion over tax returns, bewilderment over car insurance or total bafflement over credit union loans – we all need a little helping hand in some matters,

And for Lauren Goodger, it's her TV licence.

Taking to Twitter yesterday, the reality TV star posed a question to her followers, and now people are struggling to believe she's made it this far in life.

"Man just knocked at my door for TV licence ? I paid there and then is this correct?" she asked.

And if that wasn't bad enough, poor ol' Lauren then admitted that she actually paid for something she already possessed, writing: "But I do actually have one? Does this happen normally."

Lauren's followers wasted no time telling her that this wasn't normal protocol, with one writing: "If I was u I wd ring police & to licence people & explain what's happened" (sic)

"Nooooooo lol that's not normal LG," replied her former co-star Vas Morgan.

Thankfully for Lauren, it doesn't sound like she'll be out of pocket for long as TV Licensing contacted her via Twitter asking for more further details before telling her they'd look into the matter for her.

Thank God for grown-ups.

Over the course of their five years together on Geordie Shore, it was hard to keep up with the goings on between Gary Beadle and Charlotte Crosby.

But one thing was for certain – Charlotte was definitely more invested in the relationship than Gary ever was.

And now it looks like Gary is accepting both that and the fact that his on-screen actions ultimately brought their on again / off again romance to a complete end.

Opening up during an interview with This Morning yesterday, the 28-year-old Geordie lad accepted that his antics while filming Ex on the Beach was the straw that broke the camel's back.

"It was me who messed up, I won't lie about that," he began. "We were kind of seeing each other again before I went on EOTB. I was like, look it will be make or break."

"Me being me went in there the first night, got drunk and got with someone," he admitted. "I knew straight away I'd messed things up with Charlotte."

He added: "Being drunk is not an excuse at all. If I hadn't have done that, I would have come back and we'd probably have been fine."

The professional party-boy accepts that filming together put a strain on their potential future together and sounds relieved that the drama surrounding them appears to have come to somewhat of an end.

"We had a crazy five years and there was a lot of pressure on our relationship," he said. "It would have taken one of us to leave Geordie Shore before we could both move on with our lives."

Anyone else still holding out hope their paths might cross again though?

Mortifying your siblings on social media is something we all tend to do from time to time, and it looks like Kylie Jenner is no different.

Taking to Instagram last night, the youngest Jenner sister shared a snap of a fairly ropey-looking Kourtney, and sarcastically captioned it 'Vibes'.

The photo, which shows a teen Kourt rocking a pretty dodgy blonde look, has been liked almost one million times, with Kylie's followers wasting no time calling the mum-of-three out on her questionable beauty choices.

VIBES

Noticing the startling resemblance between the eldest Kardashian sister and Nirvana's late frontman, Kurt Cobain, one Instagram (brilliantly) commented: "Kourt Cobain."

Others fans were quick to question whether Kourtney had gone under the knife since this snap was taken, with one asking whether Kourt had had a nose job.

And in one particularly heartwrenching remark, one of Kylie's young followers tagged a friend and used Kourtney's photo as evidence that there's hope for everyone. (No, seriously.)

"See, she wasn't that hot as a teen but we WILL get hotter," she wrote, and now we're finding ourselves feeling weirdly emotional over Kourtney's 90s grunge look.

No? Just us?

We thought Adele was pretty damn impressive when she tried her hand at a bit of the ol' rapping during Carpool Karaoke with James Corden, but it looks like she might have some competition in the form of Millie Bobby Brown.

Millie has become an overnight sensation after nailing her role as Eleven in Stranger Things, and while we knew she had the acting and singing downpat, we had no idea she was so skilled in the rhymin' department.

While appearing on Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show, the young British star was encouraged to showcase her skills during a game of Stranger Strings in which the young cast of the hit sci-fi show read out statements and guessed who they might apply to.

Sounder slicker than we ever could, Millie launched into the first verse of Nicki's Monster, and frankly we're all blown away.

Is it weird to be jealous of a 12-year-old?

Earlier this week, Dublin commuters were left gnawing their knuckles when word landed that Dublin Bus were planning six days of strikes across the month of September.

With images of the chaos caused by the Luas strikes still fresh in the public's mind, more than a few of us began panicking over what this strike might bring.

But, it looks like we might not have to worry if a meeting scheduled for later today goes well.

According to Newstalk, unions representing Dublin Bus are set to meet with management this afternoon in an effort to avert proposed industrial action.

Speaking to the radio station today, Dermot O'Leary, the general secretary of the NBRU, explained that Dublin Bus drivers are seeking a pay increase akin to that received by Luas drivers earlier this year.

"When we’re comparing like with like, which is what trams and buses are, from our point of view, you’re looking at a situation where tram drivers, come 2020, will be on €53,000 including their bonus," Dermot said.

With Dublin Bus drivers receiving on average €38,000 a year, Dermot is keen to highlight the disparity which exists between salaries revieved by both.

Here's hoping this afternoon brings good news.

Look, we'd be lying if we said a tiny part of us didn't wish our own lives mirrored that of the one John Legend and Chrissy Teigen share with their daughter Luna.

And judging by the response internet users gave a video Chrissy posted last night, we're definitely not alone.

Racking up more than two million views in just 11 hours, Instagram is all over footage of John playing O Tannembaum for his daughter as Chrissy cradles her.

Looking chill AF, the couple entertained their four-month-old daughter with the traditional German Christmas carol while the rest of us melted, and wished they could just adopt us.

"They are so perfect, I can't handle it," wrote one of Chrissy's followers this morning while another gushed: "This is my favorite video ever."

Ah lads, we can't cope.

If you squat like a good thing, but have yet to see any change to your tush, you may have your working environment to blame.

According to emerging reports, you can squat until you're blue in the face (literally), but you'll undo all your good work if you spend most of your working day sitting on your bum.

For those of you who spend the majority of the day at a desk, you're unfortunately leaving yourself susceptible to the curse of the pancake-arse, also known as 'office-ass'.

Speaking to the New York Post, physical therapist, Abby Bales, advises office workers to stretch their legs for five minutes every hour in order to avoid that 'extra-long back' look.

Reminding the public that, despite popular opinion, sitting on your arse won't make for a bigger booty, Abby said: "The more you sit, the more you have the chance of developing a flatter booty."

"So, the first line of defence is to stand up more," she advised.

More regular tea breaks, it is.

Glenn Coco is one of the most recognisable names in the world of teen movies, but his face? Well, his face, not so much.

In a Mean Girls scene which we tend to recreate any time we have to divide anything between our friends, Damian can be seen distributing Candy Canes around Cady's classroom, and good ol' Glen Coco manages to get his hands on four.

While his name steals the scene, viewers only get the briefest glimpse of the back of his head, so if you've spent the last 12 years wondering exactly what Glenn Coco looked like, you can stop right now.

Almost ended up in a 127 hours type situation to get this view.

A photo posted by David Reale (@therealedavid) on

Played by David Reale, Glenn Coco is a bit of a looker, and only got himself a part on the film on account of being super hungry. (No, seriously.)

Speaking to Dazed, David explained: "I actually auditioned for a different part in the movie. I didn't get it."

A photo posted by David Reale (@therealedavid) on

"I wasn't 'officially' cast in the film at all – my first day was my only day," he said. "I just spent it trying not to look guilty while I ate all the free food."

"What happened was, they ended up filming a lot of the school stuff right across the park from my apartment in Toronto," he explained.

Trapped in a box of infinite vanity, thirty thousand feet in the air.

A photo posted by David Reale (@therealedavid) on

"One day I sort of wandered onto set to see if I could watch some scenes being shot and maybe get some free food – I was a 19-year-old actor with no money so eating was a daily mission."

Impressed by his nerve, the director gave David a role, and Glen Coco was born.

Altogether now, four for you…

Unless you're extremely fortunate, you're very likely to endure at least one horrendous first date over the course of your adult life.

And along with that stand-out stinker of a meeting, there are often dozens more dull, mundane, and mind-numbingly boring dates which are just part and parcel of the single gal's life.

But before you think the rich and famous amongst us get to skip these classic dating foul-ups, think again.

According to Britney Spears, having a few number one hits and a couple million in the bank doesn't make you immune to that awkward first date where the other person – and we're going to be kind here – simply isn't that into you.

Opening up during a recent interview with Marie Claire, the singer revealed she has endured the horror of realising she was much more into her date than vice versa.

"I had a really bad date. I mean, it was really bad," she admitted.

"I've been single for ages and had a date with a guy I liked. I was getting anxious, worrying he wouldn't like me," Brit continued.

Reflecting on the meeting, Britney said: "We went to the movies, but I could tell right away it wasn't working. It was sort of awkward."

"So after the movie I came home and that was it. He just wasn't that into me," she admitted. "I liked him. He knew that. But he definitely didn't feel the same."

Reminding us that we're not alone when it comes to those cringe-worthy dates – the memory of which have been known to keep us awake at night – Brit simply said: "It happens to everybody."

"Being famous doesn't make you any different."

Thanks for that, Brit. We feel so much better now.
