If you've just surfaced and have no idea what's taking place around the country right now, thousands of Leaving Cert students have officially taken one giant step into the next stage of their lives.

And social media has been on hand to give a play by play of the big event.

As anxious 6th years waited to hear how they performed in their exams, mammies lit candles, grannies said prayers, and Twitter had an absolute field day.

From secondary school students who had had enough of LC talk to randomers recalling their own results day, there was a reason why #LeavingCertResults was trending online today.

And whether you're currently re-calculating your points or simply remembering your own results days, these tweets will ring a bell with EVERYONE.

Take it away, Twitter.

1. There's always one

2. All makes sense now

3. Don't be this guy

4. When the stress never ends

5. The fear that never goes away

6. See, this is why you need an app

7. See? He's graaaand

8. Oh Pat, what a day to be arrested

And we'll leave it to the patron saints of our generation to explain why the results of your Leaving Cert never have, and never will, define you.

According to reports emerging this afternoon, Lillie Lexie has been left devastated by the relationship Stephen Bear shared with Chloe Khan inside the Celebrity Big Brother house.

And it doesn't sounds like she plans to wait for his eviction to have it out with him.

According to The Mirror, Gaz Beadle's ex-girlfriend has been spotted outside the Elstree studios with a packed suitcase sparking rumours that Stephen may be in for a very unwelcome surprise tonight.

Lillie, who dated Geordie Shore's Gary for two years, had plans to marry Stephen after meeting on Ex on the Beach, but it looks like Stephen's romance has (unsurprisingly) put the brakes on those plans.

"I just want to know why he's done this to me. How can you do that to someone you care about?" she said while speaking exclusively to The Mirror last night.

Referring to Stephen's X-rated on-screen antics with Chloe Khan, Lillie added; "If the roles had been reversed, no way in a million years would I have behaved the way he has. I wouldn't want his family to see that."

Clearly stunned that the man she planned to marry would disrespect her in front of millions, Lillie added:" The thing is, if he doesn't want to be with me then that's fine, but why couldn't he have just said that before he went into the house?"

Lillie recently hit the headlines after a very public spat with Geordie Shore's Charlotte.

When it comes to style and beauty, there's absolutely no denying that Kylie Jenner is the most adventurous of her world-famous sisters.

At just 18, Kylie shows no fear when road-testing a new look or trialing an up-and-coming trend, so it's no surprise she regularly grabs headlines for her experimental approach to all things fashion-related.

But whether her look is something the rest of us mere mortals could attempt on a day-to-day basis is another story, right?

Thankfully for everyone only dying to inject a little Kylie into their lives, Limerick blogger, Jade Mc Namara decided to investigate.

Documented on her bigbrowsmessyhair Instagram page, Jade spends a week in Kylie Jenner's shoes, and the results are nothing short of stunning.

Acknowledging that Kylie's look may not always suit a day spent dashing between showers and shops, Jade wrote: "Not sure how ideal this outfit would be for your average Tuesday running everyday errands in Ireland tho." (sic)

Emphasising Kylie's chameleon-like approach to her wardrobe, Jade alternated between down-time, red carpet and uber-glam, and we're officially inspired.

After rocking Kylie's down-time look and denim and knee-high combo, Jade recreated one of Kylie's most recognisable looks – a plunging, figure-hugging white dress.

Explaining that it's a style she would happily rock of her own accord, Jade wrote: "This was a great outfit to finish the week on…I found it very easy to recreate."

Jade has unsurprisingly been inundated with comments from fashion-forward grammers only dying for more of the blogger's updates.

"Love seeing more videos of you on snap btw," wrote one. "Keep em' coming."

We're with them on that one.

Oh, he can cover 100 meters in 9.81 seconds, but could Usain Bolt solve a Rubiks's Cude in the same amount of time?

Reminding the public that some skills have yet to be included in the Olympic Games, one YouTuber decided to share footage of himself competing against Usain… in two very separate events.

While the Jamaican runner competed for an Olympic gold in the 100-metre, Anthony Brooks crouched in front of his television screen and frantically completed the head-melting puzzle in the same amount of time.

In footage which has been viewed more than 66,000 on YouTube since its upload earlier this week, Anthony, whose mother is the Jamaican national record holder for the Rubik's Cube,  wrote: "Two Jamaicans race against the clock. To the world!"

Since we struggle to run for a bus and once tried to dismantle a Rubik's Cube in fury, we're pretty impressed by everything going on in this video.

Before landing the role of Ross Geller in Friends, David Schwimmer had studied acting at Northwestern University and treaded the boards in LA.

In an effort to hone his craft, a young David would regularly engage with other people and happily draw inspiration from day-to-day situations, but this all changed after Friends hit the big time in the mid 90s.

Stunned by the level of fame he was experiencing at the height of his television career, David recently admitted that he began to withdraw – something which went against everything he had been taught during his days in university.

"As an actor, the way I was trained, my job was to observe life and to observe other people, so I used to walk around with my head up, really engaged and watching people," he told the Hollywood Reporter.

"The effect of celebrity was the absolute opposite: it made me want to hide under a baseball cap and not be seen," he explained. "And I realised after a while that I was no longer watching people; I was trying to hide."

After becoming a household name along with his five co-stars, a 27-year-old David struggled with the implications of their overnight fame.

"It was pretty jarring and it messed with my relationship to other people in a way that took years, I think, for me to adjust to and become comfortable with," he admitted.

Attempting to reconcile the actor he was before hitting the big time and the actor that emerged from the hit sitcom took David some time.

"So I was trying to figure out: How do I be an actor in this new world, in this new situation? How do I do my job? That was tricky," he said.

Since finishing his last coffee in Central Perk, David has starred in a number of shows, mostly recently earning an Emmy nomination for his role in The People v. O.J Simpson: American Crime Story.

There was absolutely no denying the raw emotion evident in Michael Conlan's post fight interview yesterday.

The 24-year-old boxer from Belfast didn't censor himself when giving his assessment of his match with Russian counterpart, Vladimir Nikitin.

With Nikitin crowned the winner despite public opinion to the contrary, the Irish boxer slammed the Amateur International Boxing Association claiming it was wholly corrupt.

"AIBA are cheats. They’re fu*king cheats. Sorry about that, but that’s me. I don’t give a fu*k, I’m cursing on TV," he ranted moments after losing out on his chance at Olympic gold.

"My dream’s been shattered, but you know what? I’ve got a big career ahead of me and these, they’re known for being cheats," he reasoned.

Michael went on to question the validity of the judging system, insisting: "Amateur boxing stinks from the core right to the top. Russia can’t dope this time so they are obviously paying the judges a lot more."

The boxer, who took home bronze after the London Olympics in 2012, expressed disbelief over the assessment of his performance.

After explaining that he was more than confident following the first round: he added: "I put it on him more and more. I thought I annihilated him in the second-round. The third was closer, but even that I thought I did enough to win."

Clearly emotional, Michael made his feelings for the Olympics clear, saying: "I’ll never box in this competition again. If people watch this Olympic Games and they see some of the decisions…I think boxing is dead."

Eager to highlight the discrepancy between the fight and the result, he said: "The Russian afterwards, he didn’t believe he won. I didn’t believe he won. The referee didn’t believe he won. I couldn’t think his corner believed he won. Then he reacted as if he’d won a gold medal."

Despite public outrage, AIBA has denied Conlan’s accusations and extended their condolences following the judges' decision.

"AIBA is striving for a fair, level playing field. The idea is not to benefit one country towards another. We represent 200 national federations," they said.

"Michael is a current world champion and he came here with high expectations,” said an AIBA spokesman. “His disappointment is massive, we can all understand that. It’s his personal judgement."

As a gesture of goodwill, Boyle Sports have agreed to pay out on bets placed on the fight.

Take a look at Michael's interview in full.

When Karlie Kloss was asked her opinion of Kim Kardashian recently, she did what most media-trained celebrities do and played the perfect diplomat.

Despite the fact millions thought Kim was responsible for the ruination of Taylor Swift's 'good girl' image, Tay's pal refused to be drawn into the drama, and instead erred on the side of caution by offering a vague pleasantry about the reality TV star.

"Look, I really don't know her that well," Karlie told The Sunday Times before noting that Kim had 'always been a lovely person' to her.

But if the Victoria's Secret model thought she had dodged a bullet with that remark, she was sorely mistaken as media outlets had a field day suggesting that Karlie had let down the 'squad' by missing an opportunity to slam Kim.

The rumour mill, unsurprisingly, went into overdrive as Tay-haters (Tayters? Ok, no) decided that Karlie's lacklustre remarks indicated a lack of solidarity within Taylor's infamous squadron of long-legged beauties.

And it looks like Karlie has officially had enough.

Taking to Twitter, 24-year-old Karlie made her feelings know, writing: "I will not allow the media to misconstrue my words. Taylor has always had my back and I will always have hers."

"And I will never be the girl that you can use to pit women against each other. That isn't me," she added.

Seemingly certain that Karlie would have to address the furore at some point this week, fans of the model were on hand to offer sisterly support.

"You are an amazing woman and friend," wrote one while another added: "You don't have to explain yourself to the public. As long as @taylorswift13 knows your true feelings, that's all matters."

Unfortunately not everyone bought it, with one Twitter user responding: "But your precious Tay Swift is the one who also pits women against each other."

Ouch!

It's rare you hear Ellen DeGeneres coming under fire for anything, so when she does find herself on the receiving end of public criticism media outlets really do sit up and pay attention.

As the darling of daytime chat shows and the queen of all things Oscar-related, Ellen has barely put a foot wrong since her star ascended in mid-nineties, but it looks like the day has come for the 58-year-old star.

Taking to Twitter earlier this week, Ellen shared a photoshopped snap of herself and Jamaican sprinter, Usain Bolt, and joked that she was going to require Usain's assistance for all future tasks.

Pictured riding on the back of the Olympic gold medallist, Ellen wrote: "This is how I’m running errands from now on."

While the vast majority of Ellen's followers took the post in the manner it was intended, a vast number took exception and wasted no time calling the star out on the racist connotations of the photograph.

"You thought it'd be funny to post a pic of yourself riding on the back of a Black man? Nope," wrote one. "Delete this racist garbage."

"This is utterly f*cking ridiculous. How dare you!?" slammed one while another added: "Ellen, your whiteness is showing."

Responding to the accusations, Ellen swiftly attempted to placate social media users, insisting: "I am highly aware of the racism that exists in our country. It is the furthest thing from who I am."

Unfortunately for Ellen, not everyone was satisfied by her follow-up tweet with many demanding an explanation for the post.

After months of endless speculation and recrimination, the divorce case between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp has come to an official end.

According to reports emerging from the States, the actress chose to settle with Depp thereby bringing the high-profile case to a close.

TMZ reports that Amber 'settled the case with prejudice' which means the actress can never re-file against the Pirates of the Caribbean star, and she has, in addition to this, dropped the restraining order she had issued against him.

Releasing a statement in the aftermath of today's decision, the former couple said: "Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love."

"There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm," it continued.

"Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity," it concluded.

To the vast majority of movie-goers, Trainwreck, starring Amy Schumer and Bill Haderwas a laugh-a-minute, modern-day romcom, but to clamouring journalists it acted as a platform with which to deride the film's female protagonist.

According to Amy Schumer, promoting the 2015 release – which acted as a clear departure from traditional romcoms – was a complete nightmare for the writer and actress.

Laying bare her thoughts on her experience while promoting the movie in Europe and Australia, the 35-year-old star recently wrote: "Maybe it was just a cultural thing that made the foreign journalists seem out of line."

"Some interviewers brought this vibe: Well, you talk about sexual subject matter in your movie, so I can say anything I want to you'," she recalled. "Which made me want to shower for the rest of my life."

When discussing the film's themes, Amy remembers being asked by a reporter in Australia: “So your character is a skank. Do you have a word for skank in America?”

And if that wasn't demeaning enough, Amy was forced to field questions about her own sex life while promoting the movie in Berlin.

When asked what she was like in bed, Amy's co-star Bill leaped to the actress's defence, but was placated by Amy who felt that it was par for the course at this stage.

"Bill didn’t like this question and stood up for me, but I said it was fine and explained that it was like being with one of those performers who stand on boxes on street corners spray-painted entirely in silver,"

"The only difference, I said, is that no one ever gave me a dollar," she added.

We knew those press junkets could get awkward, but seriously?

Having carved out a hugely successful career for herself in spite of initial gender-specific criticism, one would be forgiven for thinking that Kim Kardashian would happily consider herself a feminist.

But as the audience at the BlogHer conference learned earlier this month, that is not a label which sits too comfortable with the mother-of-two.

"I love to support other women, but I’m not the ‘free-the-nipple’ type girl," she explained at the time.

Hailing from a predominantly female family with a strong matriarchal presence, many were aghast that Kim would be reluctant to wear the Feminist badge proudly.

Responding to the discussion which was ignited as a result of Kim's off-the-cuff remark, the 35-year-old penned a piece which offers an insight into her perspective on the situation.

"For me, a feminist is someone who advocates for the civil and social rights and liberties of all people, regardless of their gender; anyone who believes that women should have the same choices and opportunities as men when it comes to education and employment, their bodies and their lifestyles."

And while Kim says she obviously wants to do all these things while empowering and uplifting women, she shies away from labels.

"Why do we have to put labels on things?" she asked. "You’re Republican, you’re Democrat, you’re bisexual, you’re plus-size, you’re poor, you’re a criminal, you’re a mother, you’re a feminist."

Kim insisted that over-simplication is the issue, continuing: "I’m a human being, and I have thoughts, feelings and opinions about a lot of different things."

"I don’t need to be defined by those beliefs, just as much as I don’t want to be set apart from – or viewed as being against – those who DO define themselves by those beliefs," she explained.

The KUWTK star  clarified her position by adding: "The fight for equality is about ALL human beings being treated equally – regardless of gender, sexuality or ethnicity."

And now we know.
