Earlier this year, Colton Haynes of Teen Wolf and Arrow fame decided he no longer wanted to hide his sexuality from the public, and made the decision to come out in May.

Explaining that he hadn't felt ready to reveal that part of himself to his fans until this year, the popular actor insisted he's happier than he's ever been.

"It took me so long to get to this point, but I’m doing so good. I’m happier than I’ve ever been, and healthier than I’ve ever been, and that’s what I care about," he said at the time.

However, despite Colton's upbeat attitude, the star was concealing the fact that he had been told that his father's decision to take his own life was due to his son's sexual orientation.

In an exceptionally revealing interview with Out magazine, the 28-year-old, who came out to family and friends at 14, explained that he had shouldered responsibility for his father's tragic passing.

"But I was told that my dad killed himself because he found out I was gay," he explained. "So, of course, I lost it and was like, 'How could you say something like that."

"No one will ever really know the truth," he added.

Colton told the publication that he doesn't expect pity on account of his father's death nor the fact he was forced to consider the possibility that his sexuality was the catalyst for his passing.

She may be an incredible actress who can actually make Eggos look appealing, but it turns out Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things fame can also really sing.

In footage which has been uploaded to YouTube, the hero of the latest Netflix smash hit show channels her inner Ed and Amy, and the public are seriously impressed.

Before performing Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran – who is currently being sued on the grounds that the song bears a striking similarity to a Marvin Gaye track – the young actress appears a tiny bit nervous, but then comes into her own in footage which has been viewed almost 100,000 times.

More recently, the 12-year-old actress gave it her all to Amy Winehouse's You Know I'm No Good, and while YouTubers cannot get enough, many couldn't help but turn attention towards Millie's role as Eleven in the sci-fi show.

Praising Millie's performance on Stranger Things, fans of the actress insist her star is only set to rise, with one writing: "They are going to put you on the big screen. just wait and see."

We're with them on that one.

While other countries are guaranteed a consistent supply of Vitamin D during the summer months, those of us in Ireland have to wait with fingers crossed for the sun to reveal itself.

So we’re sure you’ll be delighted to hear that this weekend we’re in for some sun.

According to the Independent, Ireland’s temperature will begin to rise today with those in the sunny South East benefitting the most.

Between Sunday and Tuesday temperatures in the west of the country are expected to reach 25 degrees, while the rest of us should be prepared for 21 degrees.

Unfortunately you’ll have to make the most of the weekend sunshine as Mr Sun will be dashing off late on Tuesday, only to be replaced by a thunderstorm.  From there temperatures will drop to around 10 degrees.

Well, you can’t accuse an Irish summer of being boring!

When Katherine Heigl slammed the movie she starred in alongside Seth Rogen in 2007, the Canadian actor admitted he felt fairly taken aback by the star's take on their time filming together.

Speaking to Howard Stern at the beginning of the week, Seth explained that he had fond memories of filming Knocked Up with Katherine, and was surprised that the Grey's Anatomy star didn't feel the same.

And yet despite the less-than-subtle hammering Katherine gave Seth and filmmaker Judd Apatow in the press following the movie's release almost a decade ago, Seth wished Katherine the best this week.

And it looks like Seth's kind words had an effect on the star who has been known to call out her co-workers over the course of her professional career.

Reflecting on Seth's chat with Howard on Monday, Katherine said: "I think he's handled it so beautifully. I feel nothing but love and respect."

While attending the 2016 Television Critics Association Summer Tour Party on Wednesday, Katherine acknowledged that she never doubted the pair's mutual respect, and was keen to riciprocate.

"It was so long ago, and I just wish him so much goodness. I felt that from him, too," she told the press.

Aw, you guys!

When some people lose the rag, they REALLY lose it, and Renee Graziano really loses it with Stephen Bear in tonight's episode of Celebrity Big Brother.

In a house which has already seen its fair share of drama, the Mob Wives star turns on Stephen tonight, and she really lets him have it.

Despite clearly having a thing for him at the start of the series, Renee doesn't hold back when sharing her revised opinion with him.

"You're ignorant, and childish," she ranted. "You're a cruel individual, you're self-centred and you're selfish. You're worth f*cking nothing."

Clearly taken aback by the outburst, Stephen – whose relationship wth Chloe Khan has attracted criticism from housemates and viewers – reflected on Renee's words, saying: "Didn't you fancy me in the beginning?"

Conceding that she had indeed seen the Ex on the Beach star in a different light upon first meeting, Renee admitted: "I thought you were cute and had great legs and beautiful eyes."

But it sounds like Stephen's doe eyes are no longer enough to placate Renee who insisted Chloe's on-screen bae avoid her for the rest of their duration in the house together.

"Big f*cking deal. Get over yourself!" she vented. "And stop addressing me. Stop speaking with me."

Well, that exchange went well…

An upmarket fitness centre in Georgia has come under considerable criticism after advising female members to refrain from using the swimming pool during their period.

In a move which has unsurprisingly become a discussion topic on social media, the Vake Swimming Pool and Fitness Club posted notices around the building which suggested half their members re-think their exercise schedule when Mother Nature comes a-knocking.

Stunned by the centre's decision to make a request of this nature, a member of the club posted an image of the notice on Facebook, and called the club out on their attitude towards women.

"Vake Swimming Pool And Fitness Club, do you even realize how offensive this is?" Sophie Tabatadze wrote earlier this week.

"And, by the way, since according to your rules we are not allowed to use a swimming pool 5-6 days each month, do we get a preferential price compared with men?" she asked before adding ‪#‎mysogyny‬ ‪#‎mysogynyinaction.

"When you go into a public swimming pool you should accept certain level of germs. And since when are men exemplary clean creatures?" Sophie added.

Defending their decision, the club argued that the request acts as a preventative measure after their swimming pool was apparently 'contaminated' by menstrual blood.

While the Facebook post has been met with support from members of the public who have expressed disbelief at the club's decision, some social media users have sided with the club,

"It is for hygiene reasons for hell sake," wrote one. "This has nothing to do with feminism or being against women rights. Some girls have strong periods that even when they use tampax the blood leeks out." (sic)

"I am sorry but if I am swimming in the pool I do not want to see that. That is called asking for decency and it is by no means offensive," he added.

If there's one thing we took from our primary school days, it's that you must show respect and maintain composure during the National Anthem… until the very last line when you can throw your head back and roar like a good thing about how great Ireland is.

And we're fairly certain that that's the case across the board.

So, when Michael Phelps, who won the 200-metre fly final on Tuesday, was seen guffawing during the US anthem at the presenting of medals in Rio, the public were only dying to know what had set the US swimmer off during a rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner.

And thankfully, he didn't keep his fans in suspense.

Speaking to NBC after being awarded his 20th gold medal, the 31-year-old athlete explained that it was the presence of his hometown mates in the crowd which had caused him to crack up at a certain point in the anthem.

"My boys from Baltimore were down on the other end, and back in Maryland, we all say “O!” for the Orioles during that part of the national anthem," he explained referring to the Baltimore baseball team.

"And all of the sudden I hear them roar “O!” and I knew exactly where it came from, and I just lost it because those guys came down from Baltimore and New York City to be here, and it’s just special to see those guys in the stands," he said.

His boys from Baltimore? Excuse us while we melt.

If you rely on Dublin Bikes to get around the country's capital city, you may want to consider investing in your very own two-wheeler because we mightn't have the service for very much longer.

According to councillor Mannix Flynn, who is a member of the transport committee, the service, which was launched in Dublin in 2009, "is hugely in danger of collapsing" for two specific reasons.

In addition to not having the means to extend the service, objections have been made to the addition of metropoles in the city centre.

According to the councillor, the service, which has previously been considered one of the most successful bike sharing schemes in the world, is currently making a loss.

Outlining the severity of the issue, he explained that the service is haemorrhaging almost €400,000 per year, and is "beginning to creak at the seams".

When we come to the conclusion we need to lose a little weight but have absolutely no time to do so, we simply opt for our failsafe black outfit, and ban the use of cameras until we've had a vino or two.

And that's because we're mere mortals, and not members of the Kardashian family.

According to Kim, when any one member of the Calabasas clan feels the need to drop a few lbs, they turn to Khloé who has created a – wait for it – fitness emergency kit.

Kim, who has been attempting to shed weight since giving birth to baby Saint, insists she has a plateau since edging ever closer to her goal weight.

"It's impossible. Khloé has this fitness emergency kit that she's made and created herself," Kim told E! News yesterday.

Explaining that Khloé is basically the Inspector Gadget of the fitness world, Kim said: "It's a backpack full of these things and one of them is a sweat suit that she made that makes you sweat."

"And there's this workout band and these workout things," Kim added.

Coming to the rescue of her sister, Khloé even provided a personal drop-off service so her older sistser can sweat herself into oblivion.

"She literally dropped it off yesterday because I was like, ‘I've gotta just lose these last 5 pounds,' so I'm just going to follow Khloe's lead," Kim admitted.

Cool, just don't it in the hairstyle stakes.

A survivor's of last summer's Berkeley tragedy has addressed a court in Sacramento, and spoke of the effect the devastating incident has had on her in an effort to ensure the passing of a bill which forces greater transparency among building contractors with poor safety records.

22-year-old Aoife Beary was celebrating her 21st birthday while on J1 in California when six party-goers – who had congregated on an apartment balcony – lost their lives after the balcony in Library Gardens collapsed.

Aoife, who also sustained catastrophic injuries during the incident on June 16th, told a public hearing that her life has been forever altered as a result.

After introducing herself and thanking everyone present for the opportunity to speak, Aoife recalled the excitement she and her friends felt at the prospect of a summer in the United States.

While paying tribute to her friends, Aoife struggled to maintain her composure as she recalled the various other adventures they had embarked upon together since beginning university.

"I miss my friends so much. I have known them since we started school together at four years of age," Aoife told the hearing while attempting to hold back tears. "We had grown up together. And now my birthday will always be their anniversary."

Addressing the US state committee, Aoife expressed disbelief that a debate over the issue was even taking place, saying: "I cannot believe why you are even debating this bill. You should ensure that all balconies are scrutinised in this state to prevent this happening again."

It is understood that representatives of the construction industry at the hearing withdrew their opposition to the bill.

Eimear Walsh, Olivia Burke, Niccolai Schuster, Eoghan Culligan and Lorcán Miller and Ms Burke's cousin, Irish-American Ashley Donohoe lost their lives last summer.

Handing in your notice can be a nerve-wracking moment.

Unless you despised your position with every fibre of your being, most of us want to leave our job on a high note, and ensure we don't burn any bridges in the process.

And while some of us are incredibly pragmatic when it comes to the whole procedure, others tend to get a little more creative when saying goodbye to their current position.

Take this Reddit user, for example.

Upon deciding to quit his job, he came to the conclusion that his employer's loss was bigger than his own, and chose to illustrate as much by opting for a sympathy card.

Containing the words 'Even though you knew this time would come, there's no way to prepare your heart for such a loss," Alex signed off the card with the day's date and a brief '2-week's notice' finisher.

I just quit my job the best way I know how.

And the internet is absolutely loving it.

"I like the cut of your jib" wrote one Reddit user while another revealed: "I'm planning on putting in my notice on Friday. I've been trying to figure out what to say. This is great inspiration!"

Hmmm, we don't know about that one…
