If The Lion King is the first film you can remember shedding a tear (or 200) at, you're most definitely not alone.

The 1994 Disney classic was one of the first movies which forced many of us to consider not only our own mortality, but that of our parents'.

And Lord knows, it wasn't always easy viewing.

But as a nod to the film which helped shape our understanding of life's challenges and gave rise to our appreciation of the jungle's long-established king, we've compiled a list of lessons which Mufasa, Simba and the entire gang taught us.

Happy World Lion Day, ladies.

1. Holding your pet like this will ALWAYS be a worthwhile way to pass the time.

"Look, he loves it."

2. Comparing your drunk friend to Ed the Hyena is the easiest way to describe their level of intoxication.

"She's rocking back and forth now."

3. Play-fighting with your next door neighbour could let to Netflix and Chill sessions.

"Am I alone in my thinking here?"

4. Individuals who sound a little too slick and a little too charming aren't to be trusted.

"Scar-level slick, though?"

5. The post-nightclub walk with the squad is all the better if you imagine it like this.

"I'm Simba – he's so sassy"

6. Human dads don't respond as well to ear-biting as lion dads.

"Your father's had to go to the jaysusin A&E."

7. Allowing yourself to cry for three days straight over a small voice whimpering 'Dad' will always be acceptable.

"He just… he just didn't… didn't see it coming."

8. Pumba and Timon's friendship will always be the benchmark for all other friendships.

"See that, babes? That there is #SquadGoals."

While The Hills is probably best known for the tension that played out between Lauren Conrad and Spencer Pratt, Spencer wasn't the only co-star Lauren had trouble getting on with.

As regular Hills viewers will know, another seed of resentment bubbled beneath the surface for years, and it involved Lauren and Audrina's on again/ off again boyfriend Justin Bobby.

While they never had too much face-to-face animosity, the reality show devoted numerous scenes to documenting the pair's mutual distrust of each other.

Whether it was Lauren warning her friend off the biker boy – "Homeboy wore combat boots to the beach" – or Justin urging Audrina to reconsider her friendship with LA's favourite headband-wearer, it's safe there was no love lost between JB and LC.

And while it doesn't seem like Lauren has given Justin a second thought since leaving the show, Justin has PLENTY to say about her Laguna Beach alumni.

With MTV celebrating the show's 10th anniversary, Audrina's former flame decided to speak out and share his opinion of Lauren.

"She wasn't the most down-to-earth. You get a young girl like that, who has been on TV since she was 18, and her whole life's exposed – how do you get an actual normal person at that point?" he asked while speaking to Broadly.

"You don't get someone who's down-to-earth and someone who's loving and caring," he raged."You get someone who's f*cking twisted."

In comparison to his opinion of Heidi's former BFF, Justin is a major Speidi fan, continuing: "I liked that their love stayed true.  I mean they had so much ridicule for doing what they're doing, and they're still together."

"They're still saying, 'Fuck you.' That to me is like, 'You guys won all the way around.'" he added.

This is all the evidence you need that you should NEVER mock a man's decision to change his name.

Nope Justin, clearly not.

There are some beauty procedures which we adore having done, and would gladly share online.

From manicures to blowdries, if our Insta followers want to see us getting our preen on, then we're more than happy to oblige.

And then there are the other ones.

We all know that the bikini upkeep and the lip and chin waxes are a necessary evil and not something we'd ever deny having done, but they're also not an aspect of our beauty routine that we'd be overly quick to share online.

But that's because we're not Lea Michele.

In a move which has fans following all over themselves this week, the Glee star shared Snapchats of herself getting her upper lip waxed before moving on to her eyebrows.

Joking that her de-fuzzing routine – which she says is the 'real beauty' – comes down to 'being half Jewish and half Italian', Lea officially earned herself a place in the 'Sound Celeb' Hall of Fame.

It's no secret that Katherine Heigl was far from impressed with Knocked Up – a movie which she starred in alongside Seth Rogen – when it eventually hit cinema screens in 2007.

In the year following the comedy's release, the Grey's Anatomy star slammed the apparent gender divide created by the film's producers.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Katherine insisted the film portrayed "women as shrews, as humourless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys."

And it sounds like her co-star, Seth, was not only stunned by the actress's take on the comedy, but also couldn't help but take many of her comments quite personally.

Speaking on Howard Stern's radio show this week, Seth echoed the thoughts of millions of movie fans.

"I thought we had a great dynamic, people seemed to like it, we were funny together," Seth recalled. "I was having a really good time, and then when I heard afterwards that she didn’t like it…your trust feels somewhat betrayed."

Surprised that the actress didn't speak up during filming, Seth added: " We have a very open process. We’re like, 'You have the ability to say anything at any moment. I don’t like how I’m coming across here."

Katherine, who is known for speaking out against directors and producers she has worked with over the course of her career, experienced professional backlash as a result of her comments – something which Seth feels regret over.

"I respect the fact that maybe that perhaps she realises it has hurt her career. And I don’t want that to have happened to her at all," he told Howard.

Insistent that Katherine, who played Alison in the movie, had every right to voice her opinion before, during and after production, Seth admitted he felt it was unfair her career may have suffered as a result.

"Especially if she is being honest, the only people who, in this situation, should in any way take anything from it is me and Judd," he argued. "Because we are the ones she was talking about. For other people to not work with her because she didn’t like her experience with us is crazy."

We've said it before and we'll say it again, that Seth is a stand-up lad.

This is a developing story

According to emerging reports, police in Denmark have this afternoon responded to an individual who has climbed on top of a refugee centre and threatened to blow himself up.

It has been established that the incident occurred at the Nyborg Asylum Centre on the island of Funen, and a heavily armed police presence is currently surrounding the centre in question.

A spokesperson for the force has confirmed today's incident, telling press: "The person is on the asylum centre’s roof. Police and rescue personnel are on location and the residents of the centre are being evacuated."

It is understood that the centre is home to approximately 500 occupants who have been relocated to a 'safe location' while a 'no-fly-zone' has been established over the centre.

Issuing a statement to the press, the police force have confirmed: "The ban applies to all types of aircraft — including helicopters and drones."

It has not yet been established whether the individual at the centre of this afternoon's incident is himself an asylum seeker.

With more than 54 million Instagram followers, it would be fairly impossible for Khloé Kardashian to keep everyone happy, but it looks like her latest upload has managed to enrage more than a few people this time around.

Taking to social medis to share a snap of herself sporting a head of Bantu knots, the reality star has come under fire and been widely accused of cultural appropriation.

After uploading a photo of herself with the caption 'Bantu Babe', the 32-year-old deleted it before replacing with with another entitled 'I like this one better'.

I like this one better

But by the looks of things, her followers certainly didn't, and wasted no time calling the star out on her choice of hairstyle.

"Such a trifling mess. My soul hurts," wrote one Instagram user beneath the snap while another added: "Jesus lawd. This sh*t? AGAIN BRUH?!"

"You don't stand up for black lives, but you love to take black culture," opined another while a fellow follower insisted: "If your using my culture as a trend your part of the problem." (sic)

However, with the photo having been liked almost half a million times in 12 hours, it's clear that not everyone is offended by the star's decision to attempt the style.

"Take some the criticism with a pinch of salt, some people just can't help being dumb! You look great," encouraged one of Khloé's fans.

Something tells us that despite the criticism Khloé won't be removing the photo (or the knots).

For those of you who have yet to get stuck into the sci-fest fest that is Stranger Things, Barb was undoubtedly the unsung hero of the latest Netflix smash hit.

The long-suffering friend of the high-achieving Nancy, Barb embodied ALL of us during the most awkward phases of our teenage years.

Ginger, bespetacled, and with all the craic of someone's particularly uptight grandmother, Barb was everyone in secondary school attempting to fit in with the cool kids while doing right by her best friend.

And with the show's creators having been commended for their uncanny portrayal of 1980s America, it seems they really hit the nail on the head when it came to the ill-fated Barb.

Taking to Twitter to acknowledge the all-round appeal of the awkward teen, social media users have shared throwback photos of themselves looking like a stand-in for the flame-haired Barb.

And ladies, they're not wrong…

Since its advent at the dawn of the new millennium, Big Brother, and its celebrity spin-off shows, have gradually become more and more risqué.

With members of the general public and so-called C-list celebs vying for notoriety in the now infamous reality TV house, the antics of contestants has, over the years, escalated from chaste kisses and nocturnal fumblings to full-on sexcapades in full view of other housemates.

And it sounds like a lot of people have had enough.

With Marnie Simpson making headlines after enjoying the 'most romantic shower' of her life with Lewis Bloor, and Stephen Bear (who has a girlfriend) begging Chloe Khan for sex in the house bathroom in the latest series, campaigners are concerned about the x-rated nature of the show.

Calling for the long-running show – which switched from Channel 4 to Channel 5 in 2011 – to be axed, a spokesperson for Mediawatchdog-UK said: "If Channel 5 needs to resort to this sort of controversy to maintain any interest in Celebrity Big Brother, then perhaps the format needs to be allowed to die a bit more quietly."

"What’s most concerning here is Channel 5’s on-demand service that allows children to watch such programmes with just a box tick to say they’re old enough."

"Post-watershed is one thing but the Internet means nudity is on the air 24 hours a day," they added.

Remember when Tom's red shorts were the talk of the summer back in 2000?

So, it doesn't exactly sound like the Suicide Squad cast fully nailed it in the performance stakes, but when it came to the aesthetic for the highly-anticipated superhero flick, it looks like those guys gave it their all.

Having to share the vast majority of her screen-time with a pair of miniscule hot pants, Margot Robbie dedicated herself to a work-out regime which anyone can recreate…as long as they have three hours a day to spare.

According to Margot's trainer, Andie Hecker, in the run-up to a scene which shows her in little more than a bra and fishnets, the Aussie actress exercised for a staggering three hours per day.

Opting for a Pilates-based routine as opposed to high-intensity interval training, Margot worked herself into the shape which has gotten movie-goers talking since the first sneak peeks of the film leaked earlier this year.

In addition to incorporating extra reps into a standard Pilates routine, Margot's trainer also included swimming sessions as well as a ballet-inspired jumping circuit which saw Margot perform ballet jumps, jump rope, and make use of a rebounder trampoline.

Acknowledging that the actress was not required to prioritise any one body part over another, Andie told Cosmopolitan: "It was very important to me to keep her regiment well-rounded in order to condition the entire body and not overwork any one muscle group."

Between Margot's regime and Gigi Hadid's dedication to the gym mat, we can just FEEL our motivation increasing…well, ya know, kinda.

Since its release in 2014, Ed Sheeran's Thinking out Loud has become a modern-day romantic classic.

From engagements to first dances, this song is the soundtrack to millions of relationship milestones, but it appears we mightn't actually have Ed to thank for it.

According to emerging reports, the 25-year-old pop sensation is being sued on the grounds he copied Marvin Gaye's track Let's Get It On for the production of Thinking Out Loud.

The Independent reports that the family of Ed Townsend –  the co-writer for the 1973 track – have sought legal advice as to whether they are owed damages due to the similarity seen in Sheeran's song.

According to court documents, the Townsend family conducted their own research into the the issue, which read: "The Defendants copied the heart of Let's and repeated it continuously throughout Thinking."

"The melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic compositions of Thinking are substantially and/or strikingly similar to the drum composition of Let's". it continued.

While Ed, his record label and legal team have yet to issue a response regarding the track which has racked up 1.2 billion views on YouTube, media outlets have made reference to the fact this is not the singer's first time being implicated in such a situation.

Earlier this summer, the singer was sued for $20 million for copying Amazing – a song penned by Matt Cardle's songwriters –  for the production of Photograph.

It has been established that 12 food businesses around the country have been issued with Closure Orders – five under the FSAI Act of1998 and seven under the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations of 2010 – while one was issued with a Prohibition Order during the month of July.

When officials rule that there exists a grave or immediate danger to public health, a Closure Order is served which can lead to the immediate closure of all or part of the food premises, or all or some of its activities,

Commenting on the issue, Dr Pamela Byrne, Chief Executive of the FSAI, insists food businesses have a responsibility to their customers, saying: "There are simply no excuses for putting consumers’ health at risk through sub-standard food hygiene practices."

"The summer months are busy months for food businesses and systems must be put in place to cope with the increase in customers," she added.

"It is essential that all food businesses have the appropriate food safety management systems and procedures in place and that all staff are fully trained to ensure these systems and procedures are adhered to all time."

With 13 businesses hitting the headlines for non-compliance, Dr. Byrne issues a warning, saying: "We are re-emphasising to all food businesses that they must comply with food safety and hygiene laws at all times."

Five Closure Orders were served under the FSAI Act, 1998 on:

Blueberries “Pop Up” (restaurant), No. 13 Lower Cork Street, Mitchelstown, Cork

Fade Street Social (restaurant), 4-6 Fade Street, Dublin 2

The Spice House (restaurant), 2 Church Street, Cavan

Nite Star (take away), Main Street, Glenties, Donegal

Majas Virtue (food stall), Trading at Farmleigh Estate, Phoenix Park, Castleknock, Dublin 15

Seven Closure Orders were served under the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010 on:

Chen’s Chinese Take Away, Parnell Street, Mountmellick, Laois

Cashel Take Away Foodstall, Cashel, Achill, Mayo

The Jolly Roger (public house) (closed activity – food production, handling and storage), Sherkin Island, Skibbereen, Cork

Sandyford House (restaurant) (closed area: kitchen and food service areas only), Sandyford Village, Sandyford, Dublin 18

Azeem Meat and Grocery (butcher), 2 Pound Street, Edgeworthstown, Longford

Lucky Dragon (take away), 70 Fassaugh Avenue, Cabra, Dublin 7

Craigs Fresh (wholesale), Drumnabratty, Raphoe, Donegal

One Prohibition Order was served under EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010 on:

Kearney's Restaurant, Main Street, Tallow, Waterford

Further to this it was established that a successful prosecution was carried out by the HSE on Dragon Inn Chinese Take Away of Barrack St Waterford, which is now under new ownership.

Remember the last time a male athlete was described simply as someone's husband in a headline announcing a recent win? Yeah, us neither.

And yet reducing a woman to nothing more than her marital status is an all too frequent occurrence in the media, and it looks like Twitter is officially OVER it.

Slamming the Chicago Tribune for their coverage of Corey Cogdell's bronze in Rio, Twitter users questioned why the athlete's identity was linked only to her husband.

The headline 'Wife of a Bears' lineman wins a bronze medal today in Rio Olympics' was met with outage from social media users who demanded the newspaper explain their choice of headline.

"Isn't awful that she was born nameless and without an identity of her own," wrote one Twitter user while another highlighted the disparity which exists between reporting on male and female athletes.

Sharing a photo of Michael Phelps, another Twitter user wrote: "Son of middle school principal Debborah Sue wins Olympic gold' before adding the hashtag TweetLikeTheChicagoTribune.

Doing their job for them, another irate member of the public took the opportunity to edit the Tribune's tweet before sharing it with followers, writing: "SHE HAS A NAME. Congrats to amazing markswoman and all-around BAMF, Corey Cogdell"

Wife of Bears' lineman? Seriously?
