Any die-hard Scarlett Moffatt fan will know that Gogglebox wasn't the Geordie's girl's first foray into reality television.

Oh, long before the Moffatt family invited us into their front room, the family's eldest daughter got a taste of fame during her role in MTV's Beauty School Dropouts.

And it was in this 2013 show that Scarlett and Jeremy McConnell got up close and personal.

Before the Dubliner ever laid eyes on former Hollyoaks actress, Stephanie Davis, in the Celebrity Big Brother house, Jeremy had his sights set on Scarlett, and the feeling was mutual.

Commenting at the time, Scarlett made her feeling for Jeremy known after a sneaky shift, telling producers: "He’s the sexiest leprechaun I’ve ever seen in my life."

But it wasn't only our very own Jezza who caught Scarlett's eye at the time, saying of another cast member: "Richard might not have much going on upstairs but reading never gave me an orgasm."

Indeed Scarlett, indeed.

International rugby player, Cian Healy, has come in for serious backlash on Twitter following a particularly ill-advised tweet he shared with followers last night.

Referring to the publicity currently surrounding the Repeal the 8th mural in Dublin's city centre, Cian tweeted: "Ya ain't alternative unless you're in front of a blue wall these days" and followed the comment with an eyeroll emoji.

Raging with the sport star's take on an issue which affects thousands of women in Ireland every year, Twitter users wasted no time slamming Cian for his remark.

Responding to the rugby player, one Twitter user wrote: "Ah yeah because supporting human rights is totes hipster, we're all just doing it for likes."

Taking aim at Cian's Twitter bio, another member of the public wrote: "Hey @ProperChurch 'a prop with a dream to play centre'? Well replace 'prop' with 'woman' and 'play centre' with 'have basic human rights'."

After deleting the tweet, the Leinster player told followers he was oblivious to the meaning of the mural, tweeting: "Ignorance on my part to what the "blue wall" was. Merely reacted to seeing it all over my timeline."

"Sorry for any offence caused. no political slamming on my part, nor none intended," he added. "But cheers for your lovely messages."

Unfortunately for Cian, not everyone was placated by his new tweets, with many slamming the star for pleading ignorance.

"Ignorance is bliss but it's not an excuse… #eejit" wrote one while another remarked: "Cian, you really should have at least looked it up."

"Yes how absolutely ludicrous for a woman wanting the rights to her own body. We're all insane," added another.

We can't see the controversy around this dying down any time soon.

According to emerging reports, a teenage boy from Co Galway has died following a swimming accident in Germany.

Officials in Munich have confirmed that 16-year-old Jack McHugh passed away in Munich Hospital yesterday following the tragic incident last week.

The teen, who had been swimming in the Wurn river with two of his friends, had been in a critical condition in the German hospital, and tragically lost his fight for life on Tuesday.

Speaking to the Tuam Herald, Cllr Tom McHugh said: “The authorities recovered him from the water quickly and the doctors treating him tried very hard to save his life but by Monday of this week it became apparent that there was irreparable damage to his organs and he passed away at midday today.”

It has been established that Jack, who had been visiting an uncle in the German city, was a sport enthusiast who had recently completed his Junior Cert at St. Jarlath’s College in Tuam.

It has been one seriously dramatic week for Lindsay Lohan, and it looks like media scrutiny is only set to intensify after her father, Michael Lohan, confirmed that his daughter is pregnant.

According to numerous emerging reports from across the pond, the star confided in her father who then made the decision to spill the deets to various media outlets.

While the press are still unsure as to the validity of the claims, Michael did his best to ensure reporters that he's most definitely in the know when it comes to this one.

"She is my daughter. She hasn’t lied to me," he insisted while speaking to US magazine.

The speculation arose after Lindsay posted a link to her 2009 movie Labor Pains along with the caption “Lindsay Lohan Labor Pains trailer — I am pregnant!”

While Lindsay swiftly deleted the tweet, Michael went to great lengths to ensure the public know of his daughter's big news, saying: "She hasn’t misled me. I go on what she tells me."

In light of his daughter's high-profile spat with fiancé Egor Tarabasov, Michael insisted the Lohan would 'be there' for' the Mean Girls actress as she navigates her first pregnancy.

While Lindsay has not referred to her previous tweet, she has 'respectfully requested' that speculation regarding her personal life comes to an end.

Hmmm, we're not sure Michael got the memo.

This time two years ago, our social media newsfeeds were awash with footage of friends and family members dousing themselves in ice-cold water all in the name of charity.

And as the public became more and more creative with the execution of their own Ice Bucket Challenge, it wasn't long before many of us forgot the main aim of the endeavour, and simply went around nominating mates for a freezing.

Gaining momentum in the US, the Ice Bucket Challenge was born of a desire to raise awareness of ALS – also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease – and it looks like what many ultimately considered an internet fad has paid off in ways few would have anticipated.

According to numerous reports emerging from the States today, one million of the $115 million raised went towards Project MinE which has aided in the identification of a gene responsible for the degenerative disease – a development which has brought scientists closer to treating the disease which sees the rapid deterioration of patients within just five years.

Commenting on the breakthrough, Dr. Lucie Bruijin, Chief Scientist at the ALS Association said: "The sophisticated gene analysis that led to this finding was only possible because of the large number of ALS samples available."

"The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge enabled The ALS Association to invest in Project MinE's work to create large biorepositories of ALS biosamples that are designed to allow exactly this kind of research and to produce exactly this kind of result."

In Ireland, our own version of the Ice Bucket Challenge raised a staggering €1.4 million for Motor Neurones Disease.

After the release of Rock DJ, most of us had more than a passing idea what Robbie Williams looked like in the nip.

But considering that was 16 years ago – Yeah, we know – it seems the former Take That member decided the public needed somewhat of a refresher.

With the help of his wife Adya Field, the 42-year-old popstar decided to remind his fans and followers where his various tats are positioned on his body, and why he was considered one of the biggest heartthrobs of the nineties and noughties.

After a game of Would You Rather, Robbie revealed he would rather be invisible than have the power to eat as much cake as he desired without gaining weight, and then set about proving to his wife he had indeed become invisible…

He hadn't.

Good man yourself, Rob…

Trying to pull the wool over the eyes of any Irish mammy is no mean feat, so hats off to Ciara Redmond who did the almost impossible this week.

After four days of air travel and God knows how long keeping her secret to herself, Ciara, originally from Co Cork but living in Melbourne, made her way to Co Wexford where her mum was staying for the summer, and got a reaction which had us more than a little choked up at SHEmazing! HQ this morning.

Sharing the footage of her reunion with her mam on Facebook, Ciara wrote: "Well after 4 days of travelling from Oz, 19 hour layover in Delhi and caught on a 17 hour cancelled flight in Frankfurt- it was well worth the surprise!"

"Home for good. Ireland I missed you but even more I missed my family," she wrote in the post which has been viewed more than 1,000 times since its upload.

"Thanks to everyone who helped surprise my mammy! God she reacted well!" Ciara added.

Ah lads, we are all OVER this.

When it comes to high-profile couples, it's no exaggeration to say that much of the world is head over heels for Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, but unfortunately the same can't exactly be said for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

And yet despite their conflicting positions in the eyes of the public, the two couple remain firm friends, seeing each other through engagements, marriages, and children.

While reflecting on their bond in footage which Kim uploaded to her app this week, the two ladies admitted that each other's wedding days coincidentally signalled two of the biggest rows they have ever had with their respective partners.

Opening up about her reaction to Chrissy's wedding which Kim didn't end up attending, Kim told Chrissy: "I got in a fight with Kanye during your wedding."

"I didn’t go. North was just born and I was so fat, and I had nothing to wear, so then he kept texting me," Kim explained.

"Babe, this is so pretty. I really wish you were here at Lake Como.’ Literally a play-by-play text," Kim told her friend. " We got into the biggest fight. ‘Just stop texting me. Go enjoy the wedding, you’re making me feel so bad!"

Thankfully, Chrissy had Kim's back on this one, and revealed that she and John also had an absolute blazer on Kimye's big day.

"John and I got in the biggest fight at [Kim and Kanye’s] wedding that you’ve ever seen in your whole life," the new mum admitted.

Is it weird that this makes us feel better about our own bust-ups?!

This is a developing story

According to emerging reports, police in northern France are currently dealing with a hostage situation in the Haute-Normandie region of the country.

It has been established that two armed individuals stormed the Church of the Gambetta at around 9.45am local time, and are, at present, holding a priest, two nuns and several worshippers against their will.

Media outlets have confirmed that reports at this time are conflicting, but it appears between four and six people have been taken hostage.

Officials have evacuated a large portion of the Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray commune and have cordoned off the scene, while paramedics can be seen removing stretchers from ambulances.

Update: It has been established that police have killed the two individuals responsible for this morning's hostage situation, and the motive for the perpetrators' attack remains unclear.
