To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is easily one of our favourite Netflix movies. We were absolutely overjoyed when news of Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean’s return was announced last year.

Jenny Han, author of the TATB book series, said the second movie will focus on fan favourite John Ambrose McClaren.

She said, ‘There's so many things in the second book that I would love to see in a sequel. The whole reason why I wrote a second book was for the character of John Ambrose McClaren, who is a fan favorite, and he's a favorite of mine too.

Following his role in To All The Boys I Loved Before, Noah Centineo was crowned the Internet’s new boyfriend (sorry, Tom Holland) but it looks like our beau is off the market.

The actor is reportedly dating Alexis Ren and we may be a little bit heartbroken.

Just a little.

Well, a lot.

According to Us Weekly, the couple have been together for months.

A witness told the publication that Noah was spotted collecting his beau from the airport in L.A. Alexis is an influencer, with a whopping 13 million followers on Instagram. The social media star also appeared on Dancing With The Stars.

“He picked her up as she was on my flight. He was waiting for her at baggage claim. He kissed her on the head, [and] they were holding hands and hugging,” they revealed.

The internet has been steadily lusting over Noah Centineo ever since he debuted as Peter Kavinsky in To All The Boys I've Loved Before.

They essentially hired him as their boyfriend, and the heartstrings have been tugged at every turn and Instagram photo from the actor.

He certainly knows how to get a reaction, that's for sure. He recently uploaded a series of images from his Calvin Klein modelling shoot, and sent the social media site into meltdown:

Well, our gal Lily didn't waste any time. We don't blame her, she went straight in with the comment and struck GOLD with his reply.

The Love, Rosie actress wrote, "I never look that good when I lounge." We understand that on a spiritual level, but Noah disagreed and wrote back, "Oh please" and a FLAMES emoji.

A flame emoji translates to; "Gurl, you are a fine-ass honey and I want to trap that bee in her hive."

An eagle-eyed fan also spotted some love-heart emoji's being exchanged, which in 2019 basically means you're married. We don't make the rules, the online community do, okay?

Emojis appear to decide the fate of existence nowadays, but we truly hope these two can meet again in person and further give evidence of their romance.

They're both gorgeous-looking people, and would have stunner babies.

Noah and Lily actually do know each other, after working together on a project when he starred alongside and directed her in ARTY's Save Me Tonight music video.

Noah wrote at the time, "I convinced @artymusic to let me direct the music video for Save Me Tonight and somehow Lily Collins agreed to star in it with a bunch of our friends."

Lily also said it was "an insanely fun day." Yeah it was, because Noah was there.

So the dating rumours don't exactly sound legit, but we're heavily enjoying their harmless Insta-flirting. They've got chemistry, don't they?

Long may the flanter last, in our opinion. Carry on, we'll be shipping them in the corner.

Introducing the internet’s new boyfriend: Noah Centineo.

He has taken over the job in 2018 through two new Netflix teen romance films: To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (adorable, American-Asian leading actress) and Sierra Burgess Is A Loser (glamorizing catfishing, just sayin’).

After starting off on the Disney Channel when he was a teen, and appearing in Camilla Cabello’s music video for ‘Havana’ in 2017, his career has only really propelled itself this year after emerging as a charming and endearing male lead, which the people of 2018 are apparently craving.

The role of Peter Kavinsky, the jock with the heart of gold, has caused his profile to skyrocket, and the world has pretty much swooned permanently ever since. A high school athlete who somehow has a sensitive streak matched with respect for boundaries is a formula for success when it comes to rom-coms.

Troy Bolton was the original, let’s not forget that, but Noah Centineo makes it more believable. Past internet boyfriends include Tom Holland, Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac and Benedict Cumberbatch.

It’s essentially a celebrity that the entire internet lusts after even though the reality is that there is pretty much zero chance of any possible relationship.

Hence, the entire internet claims him as property of social media users to share as the Internet Boyfriend. See below for the Urban Dictionary definition:

“How does one become an internet boyfriend?” we hear you ask. It seems to be elements of protectiveness over a male actor who has reached hearthrob status through a film role, usually where he shows any shred of emotional intelligence as the character.

The reason why fans have been reacting so well to Noah Centineo’s label as the new internet boyfriend is most likely because, after the TimesUp and Me Too movements, the online community are craving someone who gives off a safe and unassuming air, paired with purposefully messy brown hair of course.

Noah Centineo has perfected the art of the longing gaze, the smile that would melt anyone’s heart and the social media presence with both vague and romantic captions (presumably so each fan believes that deep down he’s really talking to them instead of the world wide web…)

Some of his best poetic (sappy?) Instagram captions include: ‘She melts my heart’, ‘I can’t abandon the person I used to be so I carry him’ and my personal favourite: ‘Remember that blessings may come in the form of tragedy, speak gratitude into the darkness and feel the echo beating in your heart.’

His tweets are just as romantic, fuelling the rapid heartbeats of teenagers worldwide.

Hmmm, we’re starting to see a trend here with the ‘lovingly stares at love interest co-star’ move.

He’s really nailing the ability to convince the world that him and his co-star are genuinely loved up, to be fair. Internet boyfriends are usually temporary, with the fan base losing the fantasy adoration over time and then a new handsome, charming film star will emerge from relative anonymity to newfound fame and marriage proposals from people he’s never met.

Between his gushing about working cast mates such as Lena Condor, his goofy and humble attitude in interviews, and videos of him playing with puppies, it’s hardly surprising he has caused international infatuation.

Noah Centineo’s earnest charm is a refreshing change from going online and seeing the newest accusations of sexual misconduct from some of the most beloved actors in Hollywood. Let’s pray he doesn’t do something to ruin it.

Anyone who has seen the wholesome content that is To All The Boys I've Loved Before are 110% aware of how ADORABLE Noah Centineo and Lana Condor are.

It's not a question, it's fact. We all DEVOURED the cuteness between Lara Jean and the iconic God of 'Whoa, whoa, whoa' himself; Peter Kavinsky.

Noah Centineo has since gone on to land roles in the Charlie's Angels reboot, and also is filling the part of 'internet boyfriend' beautifully, if we do say so ourselves.

When the pair first met, the chemistry was so apparent that this rule wasn't so black-and-white back then.

Condor stopped by The Tonight Show last night and told Jimmy Fallon that she definitely "felt something" the first time she and Noah hung out. Obviously, have you seen the man's face?

"We had just got back from a hot yoga class, and we went to his apartment and we ordered pizza — it was right before we shot the movie, and we were just getting to know each other," the actress explained. "And I felt something." GET IT, GURL.

Unfortunately, Lana Condor had to shut the whole thing down for "professional" reasons. BOO.

"We kind of did what we did in To All The Boys, the movie," she laughed, squashing all of our hopes and dreams.

"We made a contract and set boundaries. I'm so happy that we did that, because the movie turned out great, and now we're doing a sequel."

Good Lord, this woman has got seriously levels of restraint.

Lana also has a STUH-NING boyfriend, so we're guessing that put a spanner in the Kavinsky-works too.

Watch the interview below, and try not to cry over their lack of IRL love. We couldn't help ourselves.

Elizabeth Banks has announced that filming on the new Charlie's Angels reboot has officially WRAPPED, which means one thing and one thing only: our excitement has just quadrupled to unhealthy levels.

"That's a wrap. So much love and gratitude to these Angels."

For anyone who has read the books by Jenny Han, the book is actually part of a trilogy. Meaning that there are pages and pages of sheer love-themed EXCELLENCE waiting for us, and for Netflix, to crave.

You may remember that our pal Lara Jean sent five letters originally, and we met each of them except one; John Ambrose McClaren from model UN.

We're guessing that he will make an appearance in the sequel, and maybe cause some mischief between Lara Jean and Peter. Jenny Han has written that McClaren sparks a friendship with the protagonist by writing her letters.

"There’s so many things in the second book that I would love to see in a sequel," she told Indiewire.

"The whole reason why I wrote a second book was for the character of John Ambrose McClaren, who is a fan favourite, and he’s a favourite of mine too."

Susan Johnson, the director of the first movie, told Entertainment Tonight; We're so invested in Peter and Lara Jean, that seeing them go through struggles is going to be hard but also something everybody can relate to,"

"The next shiny face comes in and you're like, 'Oh shoot, this guy's really nice too. What do I do?'" LJ & Peter might just hit some trouble in paradise.

Our favourite new shining star Lana Condor confirmed that she and the rest of the cast are definitely up for a sequel;

"I would love to. I haven't heard of anything official, but I've heard some very positive things," she said. "I think it all comes down to if people watch the movie and if they're vocal about it in a positive way. So, we'll see. I would love to do a second and a third one."

"Noah, Israel, Janel, everyone — we all talked about wanting to start the second one immediately after. So, we're definitely on board." YAS NOAH.

And breaketh the internet they did, fans all over the world were petitioning for two more films straight after the initial one was released.

Now that's dedication to the ship.

First and foremost: let’s get something out of the way. Noah Centineo is the internet’s new boyfriend and if you disagree with that then i’m sorry but we just can’t see eye to eye.

Now to the matter at hand… MAJOR SPOILERS INCOMING! You have been warned. If you’re looking for a film you can sit on the couch with your fluffiest pyjamas and possible hangover, that is precisely what this movie can offer you. What this film cannot offer you, however, is a decent moral compass, or a lesson in consent.

It goes without saying that the talent of the cast is noteworthy (hello, Peter Kavinsky from To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, we see you and we appreciate your existence). Shannon Purser plays the lead role in this Netflix romantic teen comedy, and shows off her singing voice during the film with a charm that adds to her actor’s repertoire. Purser is mostly known for her stint as Barb in the sci-fi Netflix hit Stranger Things, which earned her a surprise Primetime Emmy award nomination in 2017.

Noah Centineo continues to fuel our hormones to dangerous levels in his second Netflix rom-com in a matter of weeks, and yet this effort lacks the simplistic sense of fun in comparison, mainly due to the Catfish narrative that weaves its way through Sierra Burgess. It’s hard not to want to like this film, and there’s no doubt it makes for entertaining viewing primarily because of its talented cast of three-dimensional characters, and yet the unrealistic ending taints the protagonists’ likeability.

@ShannonPurser Instagram

The movie itself is at least trying to give the audience the themes and messages that resemble the John Hughes cinematic vibes of the 1980’s, except they tend to fall flat when the person we are meant to root for conspires to deceive someone into dating them. Shannon Purser as Sierra Burgess is cast as the “ugly duckling” (let’s pretend she’s not absolutely beautiful for a hot second, Hollywood’s idea of non-conventional beauty is literally laughable) and the mean girl, played excellently by Kristine Froseth, plays a trick that gets the ball rolling.

By giving Noah Centineo, A.K.A. Jamey the Magnificent and Emotionally Intelligent Jock, Sierra’s phone number, it connects the two characters, who begin texting. Naturally, Sierra falls for Jamey, because who wouldn’t, despite the fact that he thinks she is a beautiful cheerleader named Veronica. She is then left with the choice of whether or not to reveal her true identity.

RJ Cyler deserves a shout out as Dan, the best friend of Sierra and a scene stealing icon. He has the wit of the perfect sidekick, but honestly the boy should have his own movie, or at least a Netflix comedy special.

The movie does well by giving the ‘Mean Girl’ Veronica layers to her background. Living in a turbulent home with a beauty pageant obsessed mother who has issues with her own self esteem, Veronica’s life is more miserable than her outer appearance lets on at school.

Sierra persuades Veronica to help her continue to text Jamey under the radar, and in return gives Veronica tutoring lessons to appear more intelligent for her (ridiculously toxic) college boyfriend.

Their burgeoning friendship would be a huge positive if not for the fact that Veronica and Sierra are literally catfishing a teenage boy who has no idea that he is calling, texting and sending shirtless photos to a girl he has never met before, and thinks she is someone else entirely.

A post shared by Sierra Burgess Is A Loser (@sierraburgessisaloserig) on

It’s hard to deny that if Noah Centino and one of his mates had conspired to change their identities to get a girl, would the audience still feel comfortable watching it? Maybe I’m just hyper protective of the internet’s newest boyfriend, or else 2018’s TimesUp movement, has made watching the betrayal of his trust into a hugely negative experience.

Another problematic aspect to the film is the numerous jokes made about Sierra and lesbianism, as well as the scene involving pretending to be deaf in front of Jamey’s ACTUALLY DEAF younger brother. Yes, you read that right. In 2018, when acting roles are still shockingly slim for members of the ASL community, the (anti)heroine genuinely impersonates deafness in front of the love interests’ deaf brother, and yet the movie still has an ending where Jamey somehow is unbothered by this.

The phrase ‘plot hole’ doesn’t even begin to describe that. America’s Next Top Model and Dancing With The Stars winner Nyle diMarco slammed the movie for this very reason:

@NyleDiMarco Twitter

It’s worth remembering that the internet is a dangerous place, and social media is not always a tool for positive change.

Sierra Burgess for example hacking into Veronica’s instagram and playing havoc with her emotions is another viral betrayal of trust that sends messages the movie doesn’t appear to have intended to send out. While they attempt to convey that body positivity and self-confidence are the subliminal messages, the dominant theme appears to be to protect yourself from your phone.

This is why the ending really dampened the film for the viewer. After being catfished by someone who literally hid undercover beneath your car, who hacked someone’s Instagram as revenge, who lied about who they were and who Skyped you as someone else, and pretended to be deaf, I highly doubt your instinct would be to kiss that person and take that person TO HOMECOMING.

Now this could just be jealousy speaking, but Jamey deserves better than that. He is a jock who somehow made playing football sound deep, has an emotional range and doesn’t judge people based on their looks. He must be protected at all costs.

Alas, even Noah Centineo’s endearing longing gaze and Shannon Purser’s adorable Sunflower song cannot save the ending of this movie from itself. Having insecurities is not an excuse to deceive a person who believes he has romantic interest in your false alter-ego.

Instead of forcing the two leads together into a romantic ending that makes no sense, the movie failed to make female friendships its main focus.

Veronica and Sierra overcame social boundaries of the high school zoo to form their bond, and the finale should have elevated that.

Though the movie tries its best to put forward positive themes of body confidence and self-esteem, the message of taking caution online overtakes them all. Oh and Sierra, maybe go to a class on ethics, you’re kind of lacking in that department…
