Singer Ashlee Simpson and her husband Evan Ross have some exciting news!

The couple revealed before Christmas that they were expecting their first child together, and now Ashlee has confirmed that the pair are expecting a little girl.

The singer says she was anxious to know the baby's sex to help her to plan and prepare before the big arrival. "I like to know – I want to do the nursery," she told PEOPLE magazine. 

A baby girl will be the perfect addition to Ashlee's growing family, which also includes her six-year-old son Bronx Mowgli from her first marriage to Pete Wentz. 

Ashlee and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete divorced in 2011 after three years of marriage, but they continue to co-parent Bronx, who is also a big brother to Saint Laszlo, Pete’s 5-month-old son with longtime girlfriend Meagan Camper.

Having only met in the summer of 2013, Ashlee and her new man, Hunger Games star Evan, were together for just over six months before he popped the question at the beginning of 2014. The couple married in a bohemian-style ceremony last August, before flying off to Bali for a tropical honeymoon.

Reflecting on the last twelve months in an interview in December, actor and musician Evan said, "I got married, I have new music and I'm part of Hunger Games. It's been a great year."

Add a new baby to the mix and we reckon 2015 will be pretty exciting for the couple, too!
