Meghan Markle has confirmed the devastating news that her father will not be attending her wedding to Prince Harry on Saturday, May 19.

The former actress released a statement following mass media attention over the past few weeks. It is understood that her father, Thomas Markle, had open heart surgery yesterday.

Kensington Palace released the statement on behalf of Meghan:

"Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health. I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to share our special day with you on Saturday."

It has not been confirmed who will walk Meghan down the aisle, but rumour has it that her mum may step in on her daughter's special day.

Prince Philip has been seen for the first time since he undergoing planned hip surgery on April 4.

According to Town & Country, the 96-year-old was photographed in a car at the 75th annual Royal Windsor Horse Show.

The Royal Windsor Horse Show, which is also famed as the UK's largest outdoor horse show, took place on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The Duke of Edinburgh was seen chatting to the Queen at the event on Friday while she was just outside the vehicle. She wore her signature floral headscarf as she spoke to her husband of over 70 years at the royal residence.

Oh, and another exciting event is set to take place on the grounds of Windsor Castle next week – the royal wedding!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to tie the knot at St George's Chapel, and Philip's appearance yesterday has sparked hopes that he is in good enough health to attend the ceremony.

Regarding whether Philip will be able to attend, a spokesperson for Kensington Palace told the Mirror earlier this month, 'We very much hope so', but said they wouldn't know for sure until 'closer to the time'.

Health wise, the father-of-four has reportedly been 'in good spirits', according to a statement from Buckingham Palace.

The statement, which was issued while he was still in hospital, also said that the Prince is 'progressing satisfactorily at this early stage', the Guardian reported. He was discharged after 11 days in hospital.

We hope that this public appearance means Prince Philip is well enough to attend his grandson's wedding. And if he can't, well, he's in good company – Prince Louis won't be witnessing his uncle's nuptials.

We got a glimpse of the new price when Kate and William stepped outside St. Mary's Hospital on April 23, 2018, and now, the Duke and Duchess have kindly released the first official photos of their darling son, and they are far too cute.

Kensington Palace shared the photos on behalf of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

They wrote, "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share two photographs of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, taken by The Duchess at Kensington Palace."

As per tradition,  Kate took the photos herself at ‬Kensington Palace.

"This image of Prince Louis was taken by The Duchess of Cambridge at Kensington Palace on 26th April.‬ ‪The Duke and Duchess would like to thank members of the public for their kind messages following the birth of Prince Louis, and for Princess Charlotte’s third birthday.‬"

The parents also shared a stunning photo of Princess Charlotte kissing her baby brother's forehead as she holds him in her arms. The image was taken on Charlotte's third birthday, May 2, 2018.

It looks like Charlotte has taken to her new role as a big sister like a duck to water.

The young princess and her brother Prince George were the first to meet their newborn brother, after Prince William of course, when he was born on Monday, April 23.

Kate gave birth to her son at 11:01 am, with Louis weighing in at 8lbs 7oz.

Kate and William revealed that their son’s full name is Louis Arthur Charles.

The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.

Kensington Palace has confirmed that the new royal baby is named Prince Louis Arthur Charles.

The official title given to Will and Kate’s second son is His Royal Highest (HRH) Prince Louis Arthur Charles, and he will be fifth in line for the throne.

Louis may not come as a surprise as it has been embedded throughout royal history and has some very close family ties.

Prince Louis' name references his own father, Prince William, who holds the name as his middle name, along with Prince George.

The Baptism:

Royal babies are usually baptised within two or three months after their birth. Prince George was baptised in October 2013 and Princess Charlotte was in July 2015.

According to The Telegraph, royal babies tend to follow Queen Victoria’s tradition of being baptised over the Lily Front. Queen Victoria started the practice in 1841 with her eldest daughter Princess Victoria.

According to reports, six godparents were selected for Princess Charlotte and seven for Prince George. The water from the Jordan River is used in the ceremony.

Both Georges' and Charlotte’s services were held in private, but during Charlotte’s baptism, members of the public were welcomed to come to the churchyard.

It is reported that both Kate and Prince Louis are doing well and in a tweet, Kensington Palace thanked the hospital staff on Kate’s behalf.

Prince Louis was born on Monday at 11.01am and weighed in at 8lbs 7oz. The name Arthur was the bookmaker’s firm favourite with 9/4 odds.

Do you think the name Louis is a good fit for a prince?

Prince William recently spoke about how they grew close after the tragic death of their mum Princess Diana. “Our relationship is closer than it's been because of the situation we've been through. Losing our mother at a young age it's helped us travel through that difficult patch together,” William admitted.

The Duke of Cambridge explained that supporting one another through the grieving process strengthened their relationship, “You're like-minded. You go through similar things, it's a bond and it's something you know you've tackled together and come out better for it."

William was 15-years-old, and Harry was 12-years-old when Diana lost her life following a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris, in 1997.

Reports suggest that Meghan Markel and Prince Harry are set to make their first official royal appearance later this month.

According to the Mail on Sunday, the couple are expected step out together at the Toronto Invictus Games, an international Paralympic-style event founded by the Prince.

The speculation comes as rumours of an inevitable proposal announcement begin to spread.

A royal source told the paper: “Behind Palace gates everyone is expecting an announcement.”

“It’s a case of when not if. The consensus is there will be a wedding next year.”

It's thought that an offical announcement may have been stalled over fears that it would overshadow Princess Diana's 20th anniversary.

The Mail on Sunday also reported that Megahn will likely spend more time in London following the official appearance.

The Suits actress is already well acquainted with many members of the royal family including William and Kate, and indeed her perspective in-laws, Prince Charles and Camilla, and is believed to have made a good first impression.

It's thought that royal protocol means that Meghan won't meet the Queen until an official engagement announcement has been made.

Meanwhile, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently announced that they are expecting their third child – and with a potential wedding on the cards, it's looking like 2018 is going to be a busy year for the royal family.

We all have our own special Christmas traditions with family and friends, and it looks like the royal family is no different.

The former chef of the Queen has opened up about what Christmas is like with the family, and how from year to year, everything basically stays the same.

On the 19 or 20 December, the Queen will travel to Sandringham House in Norfolk, with the rest of her family travelling up to meet her on Christmas Eve.

Darren McGrady was former chef to Queen Elizabeth, Diana, William and Harry, and according to Delish, this is exactly how they spend the day.

"All the Christmas gifts get placed on trestle tables for each member of the royal family. Christmas morning, the family eats a hardy breakfast before heading off to church.

"After church, that's when they have a big lunch that includes salad with shrimp or lobster, and a roasted turkey, and all of your traditional side dishes like parsnips, carrots, Brussels sprouts and Christmas pudding with brandy butter for dessert.

"They stick with the same meal year after year. Once they've eaten, everyone sits down and watches the Queen's Christmas speech. Afterward, they all go their own way before coming together again for afternoon tea and traditional Christmas fruitcake, then they gather again in the evening, where a buffet dinner with 15-20 different items awaits them.

"It's always a buffet with the chefs at the table carving. They don't do appetisers on Christmas, instead, appetisers and canapes are reserved for New Year's Eve."

Well there you have it. Do you have any traditions that are the similar?
