For less than, well than most things, today you can grab yourself a flight to a load of European destinations.

Hurrah!

But you only have until 11.30am TODAY.

Yes Ryanair has just now kicked off its rapid-fire Black Friday sale – and suffice to say it's even better than we hoped.

In fact, the low-cost Irish airline is selling off a load of seats priced at a ridiculous €2 – albeit for a seriously limited time only.

Sure, where would you be having it?

The destinations up for grabs aren't half bad either: think Oslo, London, Nice, and Paris from Dublin, Cork, Derry, Shannon, Kerry, and Knock. And there are further bargains for around a tenner if you reckon that Barcelona or Basel is more up your street.

Did we say HURRAH!?

Ryanair has a handy budget calculator too which allows you to source the cheapest flights – at a glance most of them seem to be in December and January.

All we can say now is… be QUICK because only a limited number of €2 journeys are on offer and it all wraps up frustratingly fast!

‘Tis the season indeed! If there was ever going to be a time to treat yourself then it seems like today is the day.

The latest sale from Ryanair is making us feel very excited at the prospect of a spontaneous weekend away. You can book until midnight on Wednesday, November 25, to avail of 100,000 €5 seats for travel in December.

The sale includes 31 routes to/from Ireland, according to the airline. These include Dublin to Oslo, Nice, Edinburgh and Basel, among others.

The €5 fares are showing on the airline's home page (ryanair.com), but passengers can also find them by using the Fare Finder feature (which features a roundtrip to Nice for €10).

To see the sale routes on offer just enter your departure airport, a destination of "anywhere", a budget of less than €10, and a travel period of December.

Since October 30 2015, the airline has been responsible for approximately two million seats at sale prices. They have ranged from €5 to €15 across Europe.

There are more European airlines choosing to take advantage of low fuel prices and increased demand. Earlier this year, Chief Executive Michael O'Leary predicted the "mother and father" of airfare wars following IAG's €1.36 billion acquisition of Aer Lingus.

The airline is this week offering UK flights from €19.99, European routes from €29.99 and Dublin to NYC from €249 each way.

Its offers must be booked by midnight on Thursday, November 26.

We were warned by Met Éireann that Barney was about to hit – and those rather clever meteorologists weren't wrong either: the storm has well and truly arrived in Ireland.

Indeed, 45,000 people are currently without power: ESB says the outages have been reported in parts Clare, Offaly, Westmeath, Kerry, Tipperary, Kilkenny and Wicklow.

Those in Limerick and Clare have even been told to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.

Meanwhile, flights are being diverted from Dublin and Cork airports, while Shannon Airport has recorded a wind speed of an astonishing 129km/h.

Furthermore, Dawson Street and Trinity Street in Dublin's city centre have now been closed for safety reasons.

And southbound Dart services are currently only operating to/from Dalkey due to a power failure near Killiney.

The Dublin Fire Brigade has instructed those without electricity not to use any naked flames for light other than candles. It added that wheelie bins may need to be tied down.

This afternoon a Ryanair flight was forced to abort two attempted landings at Shannon – before diverting to Liverpool.

With winds at Cork and Dublin also too strong for flight FR-1183 from London Gatwick, the pilot had to safely steer the craft towards Liverpool instead.

Aer Lingus flights to and from Edinburgh, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol have all also been cancelled, as have City Jet planes to and from London City Airport.

Met Éireann this evening is saying that it will remain very windy, especially in the east – but that conditions will gradually ease before midnight with good clear spells developing.

If you haven't had a holiday this year due to time or price constraints then fear not, because Ryanair has just extended its winter sale by 24-hours.

The airline announced the news today which means its bumper sale – which was supposed to end tonight – is now extended until midnight tomorrow, November 3.

Seats are going for just €9.99 on a number of routes across Europe, which means you can now fly to Copenhagen, Edinburgh, London or Paris for a very reasonable rate.

The carrier said it's able to fund the price cuts by taking advantage of new lower fuel costs.

Ryanair's Robin Kiely told The Mirror: "Due to overwhelming demand, we are extending our winter seat giveaway by 24-hours on over 370 routes in our European network, with 500,000 seats for sale for just €9.99 – making Europe's lowest fares even lower.

"These winter giveaways are only available to book until Midnight Tuesday for travel between November and February next and since these crazy low prices are sure to be snapped up quickly, we urge customers to book them today on www.ryanair.com before they sell out."

Get to it, people!

It's not the first time that Michael O'Leary has checked-in Ryanair passengers, but Twitter nevertheless reacted wildly when it emerged that he was at it again this morning.

The airline executive, who earns about €1.75m annually between his salary and related bonuses, was up bright and early getting travellers promptly on board their Dublin-London flight.

Gary Dunne, who was en route to the English capital, captured the moment on Twitter, much to the delight on his fellow social media users, who retweeted his images more than 100 times.

Back in December 2013, shortly after Mr O'Leary announced he was eager to change Ryanair's cheap and not-so cheerful image, he was also spotted at Dublin Airport lending a hand to check-in staff.

A statement at the time revealed: "Yes, from time to time Michael likes to check boarding passes at the gate, so that he can personally tell our passengers that we love them just as much as they love us."

Last week, it was announced that the Irish airline was considering allowing passengers to bring their small pets on board into the cabin with them.

Ryanair have really beefed up their management team in the past few months and now the airline plan to sell hotel rooms, concert tickets and airport security fast passes in order to grow the company's revenue.

Greg O'Gorman has been headhunted to join Ryanair from Easyjet and will help in the growth of ancillary (or non-flight ticket) revenues at the airline.

Last week, Ryanair boss, Michael O'Leary, said he plans to double the annual profits of the airline to over €2bn in the next six years by expanding it's services.

"We now have an opportunity with the new website to build Ryanair.com not just as the airline's website but as a kind of Amazon for travel in Europe."

"All the services will be available on Ryanair.com – hotels, TripAdvisor… We have the scale to do it."

Ancillary revenues are inclined to remain at about 20 to 25pc of the airline's total revenues but are likely to make a far larger contribution towards its profitability in the future.

Furry friends have previously been unable to join us on our jaunts abroad – but it seems all that may change shortly.

Yes, Ryanair has announced that it is now considering implementing a policy that would allow passengers to bring their pups into the cabin with them.

Although owners of larger breeds will still have to leave their hounds at home: weight restrictions mean only smaller canines would be permitted.

Chief commercial officer David O'Brien said this week: "We are open to lots of suggestions, it's one we're looking at.

"It could be quite difficult. What makes one person happy would make another unhappy.

"But we'd be interested to hear what people think."

The likes of Iberia currently accepts pets in the cabin, so long as the animals weigh less than 8kg.

At the moment, cats, dogs and ferrets can be taken on board flights within the EU without the need for quarantine, but they all need to be vaccinated, microchipped and have a pet passport.

We'd usually be pretty chuffed with ourselves if we ended up with an empty seat next to us on a busy London-Dublin flight.

However, in the case of one recent Ryanair flight from Gatwick, an empty seat was reportedly not the only thing one passenger had next to him.

Noel O'Hare, a marketing student, boarded flight FR113 on Sunday morning, bound for Dublin. On arrival, he says he was greeted with a pile of vomit on the floor in front of the seat next to him – supposedly from a passenger on a previous journey.

He claims to have asked staff for it to be cleaned up, but was told this wasn't possible.

Taking to Twitter before take-off to express his anger, the 24-year-old posted a picture of the alleged offending mess, writing: "@Ryanair boarded flight FR113, looking forward to next 1.5hrs looking at vomit, was told will NOT be cleaned #filth."

Afterwards, Mr O'Hare told Mail Online: "It made me feel uncomfortable to sit next to and my attention the entire flight was directed towards the vomit."

He also explained: "I asked a male cabin crew member what was the mess was, he replied it was vomit and someone got sick on the previous flight.

"I asked is it going to be cleaned and he replied no, it would not be cleaned until the aircraft had reached Dublin."

A statement from Ryanair said the issue arose due to a shortage of staff at Gatwick – something which meant there was no time to have the aircraft properly cleaned.

"We sincerely regret this incident which was caused by a shortage of cleaners at Gatwick Airport, which would have delayed the return flight by more than one hour," they wrote.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

To celebrate 30 years in business, Ryanair have treated us all to a sale on more than one million seat prices.

And yes, we are DELIGHTED!

The slash on prices began last night at midnight, but don't worry, it continues until midnight on Sunday night.

This sale is across is a load of their European destinations including London, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Prague and lots more, travelling between September 1 and January 31.

Understandably, the website was almost impossible to get on to last night with thousands of people hoping to get themselves a cheap flight. However, at this stage there are still plenty of the sale seats left and no problems accessing the site.

Not all flights are €19.85 (boo!), depending on whether they are peak times or not, so make sure you have a good look around for the cheapest dates and double check the price (as well as all those extras) before purchasing.

If you are planning a visit to friends or a long weekend away, you can fly to London Luton for €19.85 one way or you could also enjoy some winter sun with flights to Morocco and Lanzarote which are on sale too but still up around the €60 mark.

Helpfully, the homepage of the company's website has a picture saying: "Sale, 1 million seats at €19.85" and once you click on that link it will bring you to the cheap flights.

This sale has gained the website a lot of popularity so if you have the funds to hand and you fancy a cheeky mini-break away – it's definitely best to get on booking as soon as you can… the 1 million seats might be gone before Sunday!

We have ALL been there.

Running late for a flight; scrambling to shove the last of your toiletries into your suitcase; searching desperately for your passport.

AND then you're supposed to find the time to check-in a full four hours before departure – lest you feel like forking out €40 for someone at the airport to do it for you (nice work if you can get it, we say).

Ryanair is notorious for two things: opening up Europe with amazingly good-value air travel, and punishing you harshly (read: 'financially') should you mess up even the tiniest element of your booking, checking-in, printing-off process.

It's just something that we've all had to learn to live with, should you choose to fly Ryanair.

But could all that be about to change?

Because when the stepfather of Adam Armstrong’s girlfriend booked him a flight to Ibiza under the wrong name, the 19-year-old had a brain-wave: it would be cheaper to change his name and get a new passport than it would be to ask Ryanair to make the tweak for him.

Yes, as it would have cost clever Adam an eye-watering €300 – double the price of his flight – to change the name on the ticket, he instead simply changed his name for free by deed poll (from Armstrong to West) and then had a new passport issued for €140.

Speaking to The Sun, Adam explained the mix up: “Her stepdad got my name from Facebook but I had put it as Adam West as a joke, because he was the actor who played Batman on TV.”

A hilariously canny move, we’re sure Adam is only delighted that he outsmarted Ryanair… not to mention that he is now officially Batman too.

When Galway man Jamie Kelly sat beside Katie Moreau, a Canadian girl, on a Ryanair flight from Barcelona to Dublin, he must have been very charming indeed.

Apparently the two passengers spent the whole flight chatting and totally hit it off. Jamie forgot one VERY important thing though – he never asked for Katie’s number, and he didn’t know her second name, and then they got separated at passport control! Disaster!

However, Jamie’s friends decided to help and launched the #loveatfirstflight campaign on Twitter. Jamie also got some help off Today FM, as he went on national radio in the hope of being reconnected with his disappearing Canadian girl. He told Ray D’Arcy:

“We talked from the plane into the terminal together and stayed talking until we reached the passport control. See, I was so engrossed during the flight and being the gentleman that I am I didn’t want to go to the toilet in front of this beautiful girl so I used the time I had at the passport control to nip to the loo.”

Jamie is one lucky man though, as his attempts to find Katie have not been in vein – the pair are to be reunited at the end of this week!

Some of Katie’s relatives in Canada caught wind of the campaign and told her about it. She is said to be very flattered that the "handsome Irishman" had been so eager to find her. She said:

“When I was on the plane I talked to him incessantly because I had just been travelling for two months in Italy and Spain and it was just so nice to be around English-speaking people, plus I’m a talker.

“We had lots in common, plus he was very easy on the eyes.”

Katie is due to return to Canada at the end of the week, but we doubt a mere plane journey will put Jamie off!
