Award season is upon us and we are so ready to spend the next few weeks swooning over gorgeous gowns as Hollywood’s elite walk the red carpet.

Last night, the 76th Golden Globes took place and we felt like giving the best dressed award to every nominee.

However, there were quite a few dresses that won a special place in our hearts. Saoirse Ronan oozed class in a custom Celine gown with a thigh high slit and open back.

The actress looked breathtaking in a glittering Oscar de la Renta gown. This was Beanie’s first time attending the Golden Globes and she certainly pulled out all the stops for the momentous occasion. The detail on her dress is nothing but breathtaking. The off the shoulder look is simply flawless. And the matching hairband? Perfection.

The holidays are over and we must admit we are feeling pretty heartbroken about it. Why do they have to go by so quickly?

It feels like Christmas Eve was here in an instant and now we’re back in the office.

It’s been a long and draining day and it feels weird to be wearing something other than pyjamas, but the weekend is only one day away.

There’s no doubt that everyone will be feeling a little miserable, and most definitely shattered, after the first day back at work so do yourself a favour and curl up on the sofa for the evening with the remainders of your selection box.

Like us, you’ve probably grown tired of Christmas movies and binge-watched the new series of You in the space of two days but one of our favourite movies is on TV tonight.

Brooklyn will air on RTÉ One today and we honestly couldn’t think of a better movie to watch after being at work all day.

Starring Saoirse Ronan, Domhnall Gleeson, Jim Broadbent and Julie Walters, Brooklyn follows Eilis, a young Irish girl who moves to New York in the 1950s, as she starts a new chapter of her life far away from home.

Brooklyn airs on RTÉ One at 21.35 tonight.

Saoirse Ronan is our red carpet queen. The Little Women actress always manages to stand out in a unique and classy way when it comes to her style.

She wowed us at the 2018 Oscars in a beautiful pastel pink Calvin Klein by Appointment dress and left us speechless when she arrived at this year’s Met Gala in that sequin Gucci gown.

The Brooklyn actress debuted one of her best looks at last night’s Paris premiere of Little Women.

Saoirse Ronan has put her Greystones home on the market and I’m ready to move in- has anyone got a lend of €1.5 million?

The beautiful five bedroom house is located along a sweeping tree lined driveway, surrounded by high walls and manicured lawns.

Each room in the Mary Queen of Scots star’s home looks as classy as the next.

The Little Women star certainly modernised the home which was built in the 1970s.

We’re honestly obsessed with that kitchen- just look at those blue cupboards.

Photo 24

And the emerald green sofa in the sitting room? Obsessed.

Don't even get me started on the adorable garden.

The house features five bedrooms and five bathrooms, a reception hall, two interconnecting reception rooms, a dining room, a reading room, a private garden

One of the most elegant rooms is the living room, located at the rear of the house. The room features a stunning marble hearth and open fire place at its focal point.

The huge kitchen would be the dream place to drink your early morning cup of coffee.

The listing states;

‘As you ascend the elegant timber framed staircase upstairs, the first floor is home to five bedrooms – all of them substantial, with fitted wardrobes and four with full en suite. One of the bedrooms close to the master bedroom has been converted to a large walk in wardrobe with a luxurious en suite bathroom with separate shower comparable to a hotel suite in uptown New York. On the second floor there is room for a home cinema, gym or full guest accommodation with fully functional kitchen.

‘Details externally include a beautiful west-facing veranda that runs almost the length of the front, the wooden sash windows and granite sills, the red-tiled roof, tall chimney stacks and filigree ridge tiles.

‘Once you arrive at the property there is a real sense of peace and tranquillity where the only sounds pervading the quiet calm are the birds in the day time and the noise of the ocean nearby by night.’

I was your typical Irish mammy heading to the O’Reilly Theatre on Thursday night. I wore pink and told my sister to wear pink too. We weren't the only ones, of course, because it turns out feminists DO wear pink but they also wear anything else they want. I brought my book and made my partner take a million pictures. I gushed at the number of lads who attended because Irish men are UNREAL allies. I wished my 5-year-old daughter was old enough to attend and understand the significance of being in the presence of these gals who were changing the world, one interview at a time.

Scarlett Curtis is as gorgeous, adorable and fierce in real life as she is on her podcast. I was so excited to see Saoirse Ronan, THE voice for my generation of Irish women in the public eye. I cried because Sinéad Burke, Irish fashion writer, primary school teacher and activist blew me away with her strength, beauty and mesmerising knack for public speaking.

The two guest speakers were fresh off the Met Gala pink carpet, Sinéad being the first EVER little person to attend, dressed in stunning Gucci. After a hilarious set by comedian Grace Campbell (which centred around clitorises and cornflakes), the three speakers delved into a discussion about representation in high places within the fashion and film industries. The determination in their voices made me confident that the world is becoming better at accepting, better at encouraging and an all-around better place for my daughter and her generation to inherit.

Here are some of the key points I took away from the Feminists Don’t Wear Pink (And Other Lies) podcast, live from Dublin.

Irish women are a force to be reckoned with

Sinéad silenced the room by asking us to ‘remember this time last year?’

You could feel the intake of breath. "We didn’t know and the loudest voices told us it was going to be a no," she said. That hit hard and many of us felt the familiar sting of Repeal tears we had held back over and over again last May. Scarlett told us that the women of Ireland gave her hope and comfort with their bravery as she sat in her apartment in New York, at a time where American women were feeling less valued every day.

Feminism MUST be intersectional

If we took anything away from the evening, it was that intersectional feminism is the only feminism. Try not to focus simply on the disparities between men and women. Listen to people of colour, the disabled community, the LGBTQ+ community and any other group that can use feminism as away to gain support and understanding. Learn what you can about the struggles of individuals and as Sinéad pointed out, go looking for it. Follow Instagram accounts that promote the visibility and representation of everyone. Why wouldn’t we join forces to create this immense power that’s hell-bent on the representation of ALL kinds?

Confidence Is EVERYTHING

Saoirse Ronan spoke about the strong women in her life and how they helped her believe she could do anything. Scarlett Curtis spoke about surrounding herself with like-minded, strong women who encouraged her feminist journey. Sinéad Burke encouraged us to ask for things want. A woman won’t apply for a job if she only meets 90 percent of the required criteria. A man, on the other hand, will give it a go if he meets 10 percent. "Think you’re the shit because everyone else does," she told us.

We need boys

Men and boys have a central role to play in the strive towards gender equality. Not simply as allies nodding their heads in agreement, but to improve their own lives too. Two fab suggestions were offered when an audience member asked how she could teach the feminist message to boys in her primary school class. Sinéad Burke, a primary school teacher herself, spoke about the significance of representation in books, workbooks and classroom materials.

Have a poster showing a diverse team of firefighters hanging on your wall when teaching about jobs and careers. Though it may take more time, print off worksheets that show the diversity of all kinds. Small things matter. Scarlett suggested that since many of us have discovered feminism within our own struggles, to explain to boys how this ideology will personally benefit them by creating a world where their vulnerability and individuality is cherished.

Of course, I could go on and on about this panel, that I was lucky enough to see. I could talk for days about the importance of these discussions and to makes sure there are ALL KINDS of people at the table when they happen. We all deserve to be at these tables and in these rooms. The world needs the input of everyone to become a better place.

Melissa McCarthy is genuinely one of the funniest women on the planet, and we love her even more (how is that possible?) after last night.

The actress and her husband Ben Falcone opted to attend the Vanity Fair party after the ceremony in somewhat unconventional attire; Adidas tracksuits.

The comedic pair were matching in their black outfits with white stripes, choosing comfort for the red carpet; "It's not less glamorous to me guys, I've doubled my diamonds – I feel great," the actress joked to Entertainment Tonight.

McCarthy was nominated for the Best Actress category for her portrayal of Lee Israel in Can You Ever Forgive Me? but ultimately lost out to Olivia Colman, who gave a memorable speech when accepting for her performance as  Queen Anne.

McCarthy admitted that it was her decision to choose the tracksuit, rather than her husband of 14 years; "When I heard it, I was like 'Oh god, yes'" said Falcone

He starred alongside his wife in Can You Ever Forgive Me? as well as Bridesmaids, Identity Thief and Tammy. His unsurprising response to Melissa's suggestio was; "150% yes, let's do this." Absolute heroes.

Despite losing out on the award of Best Actress, she presented the Best Costume design award hilariously impersonating both Margot Robbie's Queen Elizabeth and Olivia Colman's Queen Anne.

The Favourite and Mary, Queen of Scots were a major part of her costume; she even had the numerous rabbits surrounding her, and ginger mess of hair. We're crying. Her and Ben are couple goals for life.

Ruth E. Carter was handed the award for Black Panther and became the first black person to win the coveted prize, deservedly. Those Wakanda costumes will forever be inspiring.

NOW TV has revealed the Irish public's faves for this Sunday's Academy Awards, and some of them just might surprise you.

While many are speculating that Green Book or Bohemian Rhapsody will take the gong, Ireland's top choice for the Best Picture Award is A Star Is Born, featuring Lady Gaga and directed by and starring Bradley Cooper.

Black Panther is also a dark horse in the category, being the first superhero movie to ever be nominated for the coveted prize.

20 percent of survery participants said that they will be following the results and outcome on social media, and we suspect many of us will be gaggin' to see the gorgeous couture being donned.

The La La Land Best Picture error in 2017 topped the poll as the most memorable Oscar moment, with more than one-third of respondents recalling the horrendous moment that the film was called out as Best Film by MISTAKE, stealing Moonlight's thunder.

Ellen DeGeneres' star-studded selfie was next in line, taking 22 percent of the Irish public's vote.

In terms of red carpet fashion highlights, 26 percent of participants chose Cher's 1986 bare stomach look with a feathered headpiece as the biggest fashion fail. Bjork's 2001 swan dress with egg laying motion was also a high contender in the faux pas category.

Sacha Baron Cohen appearing as Admiral General Aladeen took 21 percent of the fashion fail vote, and Gwyneth Paltrow’s braless goth look from 2002 had 19 percent of the vote.

Kevin Hart stepped down as Academy Awards host in January after homophobic tweets were revealed and he failed to apologise this year for them, leaving the 2019 Oscars hostless. It's a shame Graham Norton wasn't asked…

31 percent of Irish people want A Star Is Born to sweep the ceremony, and hope for Gaga to win Best Actress (39 percent) and Bradley Cooper as Best Actor (32 percent). They do have outrageously great chemistry… and he should have gotten the Best Director nod too. I stand by that,

Ronan plays the titular Mary, who was Queen of France at just 16 and widowed at 18, and defied pressure to remarry and returns to her native Scotland to try and take the throne.

But Scotland and England fall under the rule of her cousin Elizabeth I, who was played by Margot Robbie.

"We asked for it (the separation), it was a cool experiment to stay apart, we didn't know what the other person looked like… we were revealed to each other the shock of seeing the visual of what they looked like," she continued.

"How we felt as actors after three weeks of being kept apart was how Mary and Elizabeth would have felt, it gave us so much adrenaline and emotion."

Actress Margot Robbie is set to earn HUGE praise for her role in Mary, Queen of Scots, and now the Australian is set to star in a totally different movie.

She's officially signed on to produce and star in a live-action BARBIE movie, E! News reported today.
