Sarah Michelle Gellar has her hands full minding her two small children, so she doesn’t have a lot of time for shopping. However, she has come up with a technique she calls ‘speed shop’:

“I do this thing called a ‘speed shop,’ which is I have 10 minutes and I will come in and I’ll see how much (I can buy). If that was a television show I would win it!”

She says that since becoming a mother, her style priorities have changed:

“You have to think about certain things. My heels have certainly gotten a little bit lower, so thank you platform sneakers, I appreciate you.”

If we looked as good as she does with only ten minutes to shop, we would be very happy indeed!

Picking out the perfect bikini is no easy task. Here are some things you should take into consideration when choosing yours:

1. Skin tone
If you have paler skin, remember that colour such as white may not look as striking on you as they would on someone with a tan. Go for a cream or ivory colour to give yourself a lift.

2. Shape
Highlight your best assets. If you have larger breasts, you may want more support and so an underwire bikini top may benefit you more than a flimsy string top. Likewise, if you do not like your bottom half, you can always find a cute bikini with a little skirt to give yourself more beach confidence.

3. Too late
Don’t leave it too late in the season to buy your bikini as all of the good ones may be gone. Get in there early and have your pick from all the lovely new arrivals.

4. Don’t spend a fortune
There is absolutely no need to go crazy and drop lots of money on a bikini. Think about it. We live in Ireland, this will be worn 1-2 weeks a year MAX. There are plenty of stunning bikini choices out there without having to break the bank.

5. Accessorise!
It’s not all just about the bikini y’know! You can jazz up a plain coloured bikini with a cute hat, sunglasses and even some elegant body jewellery.

Imagine having a friend who is clued in on how to create the perfect outfit on a night out.

Well, now shop dummies have been fitted with a devise which allows them to tell you all about the outfit they’re wearing, the prices and how to best accessorise it.

The new technology, that enables the mannequins to transmit information about the clothes on display directly to an app on the shoppers’ smartphones, was launched yesterday.

Regular customers might be offered a personal discount on the dress on display by way of a loyalty reward, or they would be able to share the images with friends to get advice on whether or not to buy it.

Shoppers can also store the information on their phone to think about it and buy later from the retailer’s website.

The VMBeacon system has been developed by the British technology and design company Iconeme.

The beacons installed inside the mannequins have a range of 100 metres and a battery life of three years and so can communicate with shoppers even when stores are closed.

Let’s get shopping!

All the look of a pretty skirt with all the safety of shorts (not that we fall over…much).

This first green skort is from River Island at ASOS and has great zip detailing. A perfect colour for summer nights.

We do love a bit of tartan and this green/navy skort from Boohoo adds a touch of punk to any wardrobe.

The next skort is from ASOS and is classicly black with a high waist. Great for the office or out for dinner with the girls.

The final piece is a pretty floral skort from Missguided. We love the black and white – it will go with anything!
