shopping

You’re scrolling through Instagram, find the outfit of your dreams, but by the time you’ve rounded up all of its deets you’ve totally lost interest.

If this situation sounds familiar, listen up, as Instagram is about to launch a new feature which will allow users to shop directly from the app.

Until now, third-party sites like LiketoKnow.it have been the only way to buy products semi-directly through the ‘gram, but soon the image sharing platform will begin testing a new shoppable posts feature.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, these shoppable posts will contain a “tap to view” icon which will produce a tag with information about the product involved when tapped.

Once a tag is selected, a more detailed view of the product will open which then leads to a “Shop Now” button.

To begin with, the feature will be tested on 20 brands and will only be available to users in the States.

If it’s successful, we could all be shopping while scrolling in the near future.

Here at SHEmazing! we love a good dose of high street shopping, so you can imagine our excitement upon learning that Ireland is set to get another Topshop.

As part of Jervis Shopping Centre’s first major revamp in 20 years, a new flagship Topshop-Topman store will take over five of the Dublin centre’s existing shops.

According to the Irish Times, Wallace, Miss Selfridge, Burton and the current Topshop and Topman will be replaced with one big Topshop-Topman next summer as part of the Arcadia Group project.

The new store is expected to occupy 20,000sq ft between the ground and upper ground floors.

That sounds like a lot of clothes to us!

After learning that a Chanel bag is a more solid investment than a house, our fashion focused daydreams became that bit more luxurious.

And while it is obvious that designer goods will never come cheap, it seems there is no better place to splurge than on the other side of the Irish Sea.

Thanks to Brexit, the pound has fallen to a six year low against the euro which means the UK has some major deals to offer Irish fashion fans.

According to new research from Deloitte, designer goods now cost less in London – when compared in dollars – than anywhere in the world.

Earlier this month, a Speedy 30 Louis Vuitton handbag cost £645 ($802) in London, €760 ($850) in Paris and $970 in New York.

As reported by the BBC, China was the most expensive place to make the purchase, with the same piece costing 7,450 yuan or $1,115.

The argument for a shopping spree is quickly gaining pace.

There’s only one thing better than shopping and that’s shopping with a discount!

The students of Dublin are in for a major treat this October as Dundrum Town Centre has announced its first ever student shopping night.

As part of a joint venture with SPIN1038, Ireland’s biggest shopping centre will be offering “massive discounts” to those in possession of a student card from 6-9pm of Tuesday October 4.

According to Dundrum TC’s website, a list of the available discounts will be released 24 hours before the event takes place and there will be live music and loads of prizes on the night.

While retail therapy is definitely up there as one of our favourite pastimes, there are times when we have arrived home from a shopping spree feeling more stressed than we ever thought possible.

Form crowded fitting rooms to mile-long queues, sometimes the search for a new dress can be more effort than it's actually worth.

Thankfully, the good folk at Zara have realised that we need a bit of a helping hand in this department, and have decided to introduce a few features which will make the day of any regular shopper.

According to Refinery 29, the store plans to kit out their fitting rooms with touch screens meaning that the awkward half-dressed mooch back to the shop floor for another size will soon be a thing of the past.

Oh, and those queues that make you want to simply drop to your knees and howl?

They will be replaced by a collection of self-service tills which means if the person in front of you really DOES want to shoot the breeze with the shop assistant, they can still do so, but you don't have to suffer behind them for fifteen agonising minutes.

While the features have been introduced in various branches of the popular store, it may be some time before they reach the Emerald isle, but that doesn't mean we can't celebrate, right?!

Ladies, it's definitely a step in the right direction!

Penneys has gone global over the last year with stores opening up in the US, Spain and most recently France. With level upon level of immaculately arranged clothes and accessories, beauty salons, phone charging areas and entire walls of cosmetics, these are no ordinary Penneys stores either.

After every new megastore opening we've lusted over the pictures on Twitter and Snapchat, all the while wondering when our humble Irish stores would get the same uber-glam treatment.

Well, it seems we didn't have long to wait, as one Penneys branch in the heart of Dublin has just re-launched after a major image overhaul. The re-design was done in stages over the last six months to avoid having to close the store entirely, so if you've been battling with hoarding and closed-off escalators whilst shopping there recently, that's why.

So, does the O'Connell St branch compare with the amazingness that is Primark Madrid or Boston? Let's take a look…

The shoe area alone looks incredible…

And we've got our very own Penneys-tastic map of Dublin…

Plus this EPIC make-up wall…

Oh, and a bikini wall too…

Plus a tech accessories wall for good measure…

And in true Penneys style there's still heaps of bargains…

Yup, we're sold.

While we love shopping (loveeee), we can't help but get all flustered every time we go to pay for something.

You either can't find your purse, or your money falls out, or your bank card won't work… it can be super annoying.

But that's where Google's new app comes in. In a world of technology, it seems that we don't need cash anymore, right? All we need is an app.

The Hands Free app is debuting in San Francisco today and it sounds pretty damn good.

"Once you’ve installed and set up the app, Hands Free uses Bluetooth low energy, Wi-Fi, and location services on your phone to detect whether you’re near a participating store. When you’re ready to pay, you can simply tell the cashier, “I’ll pay with Google.” The cashier will ask for your initials and use the picture you added to your Hands Free profile to confirm your identity," said the website.

While it'll only be available in America for the moment, it'll probably hit our shores pretty soon – so we can all say goodbye to our bank balance.

Now that Christmas is over (sob!), it's January sales time (wahey!). But like most years, you go shopping with the hope of getting major bargains BUT come home with a ridiculous amount of stuff you will either never wear or use. Oh, the wonder of a '50 per cent OFF' price tag.

So, in order to get you ready for the shops, here's five wardrobe essentials you need to snap up this year:

1. Statement leather jacket

No matter what the season or what trends are in, a leather jacket will always be your best friend. So take advantage of the sales and nab yourself a statement leather jacket.

2. The perfect LBD

The highstreet obviously go WILD selling dresses for the festive party season so this is your best chance to get the perfect little black dress at a discounted price.

3. Slick runners

Runners are mega pricey at the moment since they have been a style staple in the past few years. So if you want to get your hands on the Nike's you've always wanted, now is the time to buy them at the best price.

4. Party heels

A pair of heels are the perfect choice for many occasions and can add total glamour to any outfit. Search the shops for your perfect pair; you're bound to find them.

5. Jeans please!

Another wardrobe essential that will do you all year round is the perfect pair of jeans. Whatever style or size, there is always LOADS to choose from come sale time. You just need to have the eye to find them!

This year marks the first year that retailers in Ireland have properly embraced the idea of Black Friday, with hundreds of stores offering shopping discounts today and over the weekend.

One store manager – from Ecco Shoes on Grafton St – described this morning's scenes at 6.30am as "pandemonium," telling Today FM he had "queues down the street."

Thankfully though, the crazed shopping madness has yet to reach its peak here, in comparison to the US and the UK.

Many US retailers opened on Thanksgiving Day this year, meaning that today's Black Friday queues have lessened a bit compared to 2014 – but a look at the above video will prove there's still a LOT of people out there wanting bargains.

And some of the Reuters photos from today and last year have us thinking online shopping might be the way to go for the next… well, forever.

1. Ah, just a relaxed stroll through the tunnel of doom

2. At least this woman's headgear is on point

3. HANDBAGS, everywhere.

4. The zombies shoppers have arrived

5. You can really feel the love in this picture

6. Everyone's just having a great time, y'know?

7. We bet this poor lad was happy to get home after his shift ended

8. And this lad, crushed into a corner by TVs

9. No. Just no. We're done.

Black Friday is nearly upon us. Yes, the unashamedly American retail tradition has officially become a ‘thing’ worldwide.

As stores reopen after Thanksgiving in the US, here in Europe we just want an excuse to avail of a bargain.

It’s basically like another Stephen's Day except you are not falling into a food coma from too much turkey. Oh and you probably have to work too.

But whether you plan to scramble to the checkout from your desktop or slug it out with all the overenthusiastic Christmas shoppers, you need to know where you find the best deals.

SHEmazing! has you covered babes.

Some of us love Christmas, and some of us… not so much. But one thing that everyone can agree on is that it's a pricey time of year.

And according to a survey commissioned by the Credit Union, the average Irish adult will spend almost €600 in the run up to Christmas this year.

The annual spending survey shows that the average shopper in Ireland can expect to spend €563 this festive season, which is actually lower than the figure produced last year.

“We all need to remember that Christmas really is about giving, not robbing the family finances,” says Ed Farrell of the Credit Union.

A huge number of us are planning to shop online this year (67 percent), with most people saying that value can be found online and 26 per cent of shoppers said it's more convenient to shop online than trek around town.

But many of us (70 per cent) feel worse about our financial situation than we did last year. So, do you think you'll spend that much this year?

Yes, with doors opening at 6pm, lucky VIP invitees have been flocking to H&M's flagship store on College Green in Dublin's city centre for the retailer's high-profile collaboration with label of the moment, Balmain.

Officially for the rest of us, the collection goes on sale at 9am tomorrow in the College Green shop and on H&M's website. Undoubtedly, demand will continue until the items sell-out.

Elsewhere around the world, the queue to get into H&M's flagship outlet at Orchard Building in Singapore began on Monday, while on Fifth Avenue in New York, lines of shoppers are also well-established by now.

In Sydney, those first in the queue at the Pitt St Mall were being paid hundreds of dollars by eager fashionistas.

As one 19-year-old student there explained to the Daily Telegraph: “I’ve gotten $200 from someone who asked me to buy a dress for them.

“The dress costs $200 and she handed me another $200. People are really desperate for the clothes in the collection but not willing to line up overnight.”
