It's been a year of losses for The X Factor, and now the show is set to say goodbye to yet another family member.

The iconic voice of the live shows will be no more, as voiceover artist Peter Dickson has revealed he won't be appearing on the upcoming series.

"After the best 11 years with the X Factor, it's time for me to check out and cut loose," he wrote on Twitter today," prompting shock and sadness from fans of the show.

"X Factor isn't going to be the same without you," wrote one follower. "But you're the best thing on it," wrote another.

Over the years Peter's voice has become as synonymous with the show as Simon Cowell's nasty comments and Cheryl's Geordie accent. From his iconic slogan, "It's time… to face… THE MUSIC" to his impeccable pronunciation of Rachel Adedeji's name, the show will be a different place without him.

Peter's shock departure follows months of dramatic changes to the show's lineup, which saw Dermot O'Leary leaving his post as presenter, Louis Walsh and Mel B ending their tenure as judges, and Sarah-Jane Crawford saying goodbye to The Xtra Factor.

With the first round auditions starting across the UK earlier this month, Olly Murs and Caroline Flack took up the reigns as co-hosts, while Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw joined the judge's table alongside Cheryl and Simon.

This year's live shows are set to be very different indeed…

It looks like the judge's houses stage of the X Factor is going to be bringing back some familiar faces this year.

Judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has reportedly called in former cast memeber Danni Minogue for some help narrowing down the acts she wants to bring to the live shows.

According to The Metro, Cheryl has reached out to the Aussie native with a personal request that Danni join Cheryl as a guest mentor in France later this summer. Danni was an X Factor judge from 2007 to 2010 and won the show twice with Leon Jackson and Matt Cardle.

A source has told the website about Cheryl’s decision being “the biggest news this year.”

“Dannii is doing her judges’ houses for the Australian version of the show in the UK this year and as Cheryl is doing hers in France, it’s quite an easy distance for Dannii to travel.”

The other judges are also said to be changing things up with their picks for guest mentors.

Most notably there are reports that Simon Cowell has replaced long time X Factor friend Sinitta for Paloma Faith. Nick Grimshaw is supposedly set to be joined by Jess Glynne. There hasn’t been any word ad of yet who Rita Ora will be joined by at Judge’s houses.

According to the insider; “Simon isn’t happy with Sinitta. She looks set to be axed.”

They also reported that Simon and Danni are on “good terms” and “she is one of the best judges for spotting talent he has ever worked with.”

Meanwhile, Cheryl has been the focus of much media attention of late as more pictures have emerged of the star with a noticeably thinner frame.

The 32-year old was pictured on Sunday evening and reports are saying there is concern over her dramatic weight-loss. Cheryl herself has hit back at the reports. Most notably on Instagram when she was the victim of skinny-shaming with some users calling her a 'bag of bones'.

Former X Factor contestant Katie Waissel has revealed her true feelings about her ex-mentor, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini… and boy, it is NOT pretty!

The 29-year-old admitted that she even warned Rita Ora, who is a good friend of hers, that she thinks Cheryl is a “pr**k”.

It is no secret that Ms Waissel and Cheryl didn’t see eye to eye, with Katie having previously opened up about her distaste for the former Girls Aloud singer.

Speaking to Star Magazine she said that, “People think I have this huge thing against Cheryl. And granted, I do. I’m pissed off for various reasons. If you ask me she is fake as s**t.”

And Katie didn’t stop there. “I just think there’s no substance to her,” the singer went on. “She can be very abrupt and rude. I don’t think she’s a very nice human.”

Katie, who finished seventh in the seventh series of the show had some advice to give to upcoming contestants. And that was “to f*****g beg to get someone else as a mentor.”

Wow, we can’t imagine Cheryl is going to be too pleased hearing about this!

Warning new judge Rita Ora against her, Katie admitted that “I told her I hung out with Simon and Louis Walsh, and Cheryl sat with her Benson and Hedges in her dressing room staring at her diamonds. Rita, if you ever lose Cheryl, that’s where she is.”

With the first-round auditions of The X Factor kicking off earlier this month, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has been back in the spotlight on an almost daily basis, and one thing fans have been quick to notice is her noticeably thinner frame.

The former Girls Aloud singer has always been relatively slim, especially over the last four or five years, but when she stepped out in a tiny crop top and palazzo pants combo last week in Manchester, her dramatically smaller waist and thinner arms were on full display. Cheryl has already defended her weight loss on social media on two separate occasions over the last two weeks, and now her close friend and fellow X Factor judge Simon Cowell has spoken out too.

Speaking to The Sun over the weekend, Simon said that Cheryl "eats like a horse" and that her weight loss has not been intentional. "This is not someone who's trying to make herself thin," he explained.

"I think she did pick up a bug and I think the way she's approaching what was addressed about her weight in a very open way – by saying she is thin and trying to put on weight – I don't think she would have done that two years ago."

Taking to Twitter two weeks ago, Cheryl hit back at critics of her weight, saying, "You have no idea what I have been through. Just losing my father in law v recently and everything that comes with that. Not that I am [too thin] or should justify myself to anyone."

Simon even insisted that Cheryl has the same appetite as he does, admitting they went on a fast food hunt around Manchester together last week. "For some reason we wanted a Wimpy rather than a McDonalds. We couldn't find one in the end but we found another burger shop and she had the same as me," he told the newspaper.

Speaking to reporters at the auditions last week, Cheryl herself said she was "eating lots" to help her regain some of the weight she had lost.

News broke last week that Louis Tomlinson was expecting a baby with Us stylist Briana Jungwirth.

It has been reported that Simon Cowell has spoken out about the news and he gave Louis some advice when he rang him to tell him.

The X Factor boss told The Sun newspaper "I said to him, 'You man up'. You're fortunate because you're in a position to be able to look after the baby and not worry too much about that."

"But I also told him, 'I've received bad calls in my life but this is not one of them. This is your business but I'm here for you'."

Simon rejected the allegations that the baby news would damage One Direction's reputation. He said "He didn't kill anyone. He got someone pregnant. It happens every day all over the world. Again, Louis has got great family around him and, look, it's a plus, not a negative."

According to Simon, it seems the boyband may take some time off for themselves after the release of their fifth album.

"In terms of the band, they've got enough hits now they can take some time off and do some other stuff they want to do. Then I hope they'll have a little bit of time apart and want to get back together again. It's a fun job, but it's absolutely their decision."

Neither Louis or his ex-girlfriend have confirmed that baby news to the public.

The X Factor was set to return bigger and better this year with new judges, new hosts and even rumours of a new format, but there have already been problems one week in.

The series got off to a bad start at the weekend when the Manchester live auditions were cancelled due to the death of Simon Cowell's mother. But with the auditions rescheduled for today and tomorrow (July 6th and 7th), new judge Rita Ora has already had to pull out, as well as Olly Murs' co-host Caroline Flack.

Rita had apparently cleared her diary for the original audition dates last weekend, and with the changes she will no longer be able to appear on the show tomorrow.

While the Shine Ya Light singer will be there to film today, she then flies out to France for commitments at Paris Fashion Week with Karl Lagerfeld, according to The Mirror.

She had hoped to make it back for a 1pm start in Manchester on Thursday but now has decided to pull out of tomorrow's filming altogether. A spokesperson for ITV confirmed the news, saying the producers were making other arrangements for tomorrow. "Rita obviously wanted to be there but it is just unfortunate that with the change in filming dates there is an issue," the rep said.

"We will go ahead either with Simon, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Nick Grimshaw, or drafting in a guest judge."

Rita was confirmed as a new judge on the show last month, along with BBC Radio 1 host Nick. The pair will join Cheryl and Simon on the panel for this series.

As for hosting duties, Olly Murs will be left to run the show by himself as Caroline flies to Mallorca to work on another project. "Caroline has to jet off to Majorca to film Love Island, so Olly… is going to have to host on his own," a source revealed.

Simon Cowell took to Twitter this morning to thank his fans for their support after the death of his beloved mum Julie:

Hopefully by the next round of auditions everyone will be present and correct once again…

Simon Cowell was left devastated yesterday after his mum Julie passed away aged 89.

A statement from the X Factor boss' brother Tony confirmed the news, saying the Cowells already missed their mum "so very much" and that she was the "heart and soul" of their family.

As a result of the sad news, the first round of auditions for the  X Factor's new series have been cancelled today, with no news yet about tomorrow's and Wednesday's. "They were due to start today and carry on into Tuesday and Wednesday. Today's have been cancelled and we have not made any decisions beyond that," a spokesperson for Syco Entertainment said this morning.

UK ticketing company Applause Store last night announced the cancellation of the auditions, due to take place in Manchester, saying it was due to "unforeseen circumstances."

The late Mrs. Cowell was mum to four boys  Simon, Nicholas, Tony and Michael, as well as being stepmum to John and June. She had reportedly been ill for some time and was in a home for her final months.

"Simon is absolutely devastated. His mum was the most beloved person in his life and they were incredibly close," a source told The Sun. "But at least she got to see him settle down and start a family which was one of the great wishes of her life."

The music mogul welcomed his first son, Eric, last February, and it's clear he is already the apple of his dad's eye.

Our thoughts are with the Cowell family at this time.

The real reason he chose Caroline Flack and Olly Murs as the new hosts for the X Factor has been revealed by Simon Cowell himself.

Simon explained that he thinks the pair “have great chemistry” and are ridiculously attracted to each other. According to Simon, this makes for excellent TV viewing.

But wait, doesn’t Olly have a girlfriend?

Yes, and we don’t think Olly’s girlfriend Francesca Thomas since will be too pleased with Simon’s latest comments.

That’s possibly why Simon was very quick to stress that he was just “kidding”, after he made the comment. Nice save, Simon.

The 55-year old music mogul went on to say that he thought Olly was a particularly good person for the gig because he is a former contestant of the show.

“He's perfect to be in that position," according to Simon, who also said that Caroline and Olly were the best choice because of their love for the show and “they have amazing energy.”

Caroline has admitted previously that she did once consider a romance with Olly. She told the Daily Telegraph that at one point she did think “Do I? Could I?' There's always been a barrier where we just couldn't ever cross that line and we never have.”

She also described him as the most confident person she’s ever met, “but it never border on arrogance.”

So, Caroline doesn’t seem to be interested in crossing that line with Olly any time soon, but let us remember that she did find love on the X Factor once upon a time.

Caroline dated then 17-year old One Direction star Harry Styles back in 2011, which she has admitted was a bit “strange”.

According to Simon Cowell, this year is the “make or break” year for The X Factor.

Joining the notorious music mogul on the panel this time round are Rita Ora, Nick Grimshaw and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

The singing competition has suffered a huge loss of ratings in the last few years. Its last season struggled to compete with other talent shows, primarily Strictly Come Dancing.

However, you can dry those eyes because all hope is not lost just yet.

Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday, the 55-year-old admitted that “It does feel like make or break this year, but I feel like every year is make or break to be honest.”

He went even further saying, that “There were certain years when certain people won and it was like, ‘Oh, Christ’.”

Who could you ever be talking about, Simon? While he didn’t elaborate, we certainly have a few names in mind!

Although the father-of-one is certainly worried about the show’s ratings, he is forever inspired by the possibility of finding new talent. “Last year’s show made me realise there’s still a lot of talent to be discovered,” he admitted.

“You never forget those days when you feel a star is being born.”

This year Caroline Flack and Olly Murs will be co-hosting, while Rochelle Humes and Melvin Odoom are to present The Xtra Factor

Vlogger Zoella, otherwise known as Zoe Sugg, is rumoured to be the new host of the Xtra Factor.

The YouTube sensation is apparently being scouted as a presenter in order to attract a younger crowd to the talent show.

A source told The Sun today: ''Simon wants ideas that are different and is really thinking outside the box when it comes to shaking up the show.''

Last year, the Xtra Factor was hosted by Sarah-Jane Crawford, but she only lasted one season.

It is reported that she has left the show due to a clash in scheduling but it seems she will still be tuning in: "Wishing the new team the best of luck," she said on Twitter earlier this month. "I can't wait to watch you all."

Also rumoured to be in the running for the job is Big Brother star and Co. Kildare-native Brian Dowling. According to sources, Brian has been interviewed already for the position and is eager to make a return to television.

Meanwhile, Zoella has a following of more than 8m on social media and Simon is hopeful that she would draw a huge audience to the programme, which is now in its 11th year.

Apparently the millionaire music mogul has already met with the young star and ''he is keen to hear how she developed such a huge online following with young people''.

Simon Cowell has revealed he doesn't want his 15-month-old son to follow the same career path as him.

During an interview on Good Morning Britain the X Factor judge has said he would prefer Eric to work behind a desk rather than in front of the cameras like he does.

He told Richard Arnold: "Yes, I would rather he do that, yes," he then joked he would send his son to work in seven or eight years.

Continuing to speak about the future, Simon said: "I always believe in the apprentice thing, where you learn from other people and that's what I would say to him, which is absolutely start at the bottom and you get to find out who you like and how you communicate with people and that's what I would say to him. And be kind to animals!"

Aw, we love Simon's sensitive side.

However, when your dad is working with the likes of Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and One Direction, it may be a bit difficult to stay out of the spotlight.
