How to make your own milk
With many people discovering they have an intolerance to dairy products, alternatives like soy milk have risen in popularity.
While supermarkets have a number of options, another substitute for cows milk is your very own homemade version – it really isn’t as hard as it seems.
Almond milk has gained a following in recent times and given all its benefits, this comes as no surprise. Here’s how you can make your own.
What you need:
- 1 cup of almonds
- 4 cups of water
- honey to sweeten (optional)
Method:
- Put the almonds and water in a blender and whizz until it becomes frothy.
- Use a sieve to filter this into a glass (or jar).
- Whatever remains in the sieve can be put back into the blender and go for round two.
- Repeat.
If you don’t want to enjoy it right away you can leave it in the fridge for a couple of days.
