As proven by our very own Saoirse Ronan this week, having an Irish name can make life pretty difficult at times.

No matter how many times you painstakingly S-P-E-L-L it out or come up with "easy" pronunciation tips ("It's Colm… like Gollum"), some people just can't seem to get their heads around your bizarre title.

Nowhere is that pain more real than at Starbucks, where busy baristas tend to write down a jumble of letters and hope for the best.

More often than not, they make a total hames of it. Here are a few of our favourite #StarbucksFails…

1. "A-O-I-F (for Frank) – E."
Um…

2. Niamh
Two attempts, both unsuccessful.

3. Blaithín
Zero points for effort on this one.

4. Liam
This atrocity took place on Irish soil, to make matters worse.

5. Oisín
Sounds like a type of sushi.

6. Sorcha
First name 'Sur', last name 'Cih'.

7. Sinéad
Because who doesn't want their name to sound like 'snail'?

I spelled it for her! #fail #starbucksirishnames #london

8. Rory

This weekend marks the end of everything ghostly and ghoulish – and with that, Starbucks have ALREADY teased their new Christmas drink.

The Starbuck's red cups are available in some countries around the world (which we think is a bit soon but, hey, Dublin already has it's Christmas lights up so it appears that nothing can be too soon), so it's only a matter of time before we see Gingerbread lattes on the menu.

The coffee giant is preparing to release an insane new holiday drink upon the masses: The Holiday Spice Flat White will join this year's stellar seasonal line-up.

Basic flat whites were introduced earlier this year to much success so, the obvious next step was to give it a winter-time kick, and thus the Holiday Spice Flat White was born.

While it won't be available until later in the month, this drink will join returning favourites such as the Chestnut Praline Latte—which was introduced just last year—Gingerbread, Eggnog, and Caramel Brulee Lattes, as well as everyone's adored Peppermint Mocha.

While there's no word on how the new coffee tastes, we bet it's going to be something everyone will go crazy for.

Just when you thought we had reached pumpkin spice latte levels, another caffeinated beverage comes along to take the top spot. We genuinely thought that this season only had room for one intense blended drink but we were so wrong.

No no- there are no canines involved in this new move. Your pugs are safe. Allow us to introduce you to the Beast Mode Frappuccino.

Yes, you read that correctly, Starbucks have official turned beast mode on, and now we don’t know what to do with ourselves.

Do you drink it? Do you try and lift it?

Actually, if you were feeling the need for some added protein in your life then you’re in luck because that’s exactly what has been added to this beverage.

“The new blended beverage, as unique as its creator, is a double mocha Frappuccino with a hint of mint and cream and just enough protein powder to unleash your inner Beast Mode.

It’s topped with whipped cream, then finished with a purple berry drizzle and a sprinkle of matcha.”

Sounds, powerful.

The creator of the Beast Mode Frapuccino is Marshawn Lynch, who plays for the Seattle Seahawks in the US. He’s a running back, FYI, and he has an interesting thing about Skittles.

Thankfully (we think) there are no Skittles included. However, despite the lack of Skittles, he is a big fan of his creation:

"I’d drink this before a workout," Lynch said in a statement. "…I'm all 'bout that."

Starbucks will donate 24 cents — Lynch's jersey number — to the Fam 1st Family Foundation for every Beast Mode sold. He co-founded the foundation in 2011 to mentor children on education, literacy and self-esteem.

We're always happy to caffeinate for a cause.

Unfortunately, no word has come as to whether the Irish Starbucks will be unleashing the Beast Mode of the nation, but if they do we feel like it could be very interesting.

If you’re a caffeine fiend, and so many of us quite simply are, then you know that when it comes to coffee certain drinks can end up being more like cake than the delicious beverage.

Trying to cut out excess sugar without abstaining from coffee entirely can therefore be a bit of a challenge.

While plenty of coffee chains (Starbucks, we’re looking at you) tell you how many calories are in their drinks; the sugar breakdown is less than visible.

So, if you’re trying to cut down on the sugar consider branching out and giving one of these orders a try instead of your usual.

The World Health Organisation recommends no more than six teaspoons or 25 grams of sugar to be your daily sugar consumption, these are a few orders that fall within those guidelines.

Skinny latte: 0g

Cappuccino: 10g

Americano: 0g

Latte: 17g

A Starbucks Skinny Peppermint Mocha (festive): 13g

Sadly, this is not on the Irish menu yet but we reckon the fact that it is much lower in sugar than some other seasonal drinks makes an excellent case for the possibility of seeing it next year.

Let's face it, there's a few of us in this world that love nothing more than a good cup of coffee.

Whether at home, in work or at lunch, coffee is something that will always be by your side; so it's fair to say it's your true love (until Prince Charming comes along, that is).

So, here are the the 12 signs that coffee is your boyfriend:

1. You smell coffee the minute you wake up in the morning.

2. You need coffee to wake up, BUT you need to wake up to get coffee. #TheStruggleIsReal

3. Pro-caffeinating – yep, it's a thing.

4. You think people that drink tea are wimps.

5. You impose silence in your house until you've had your first cup of the day.

6. You know all the hip cafés in town and in your local area.

7. Your daily excuse for running late: "Sorry, the line in Starbucks was so long!"

8. You proudly share any news story claiming coffee is good for you; and ignore any that say otherwise.

9. Heart palpitations and shaking hands are just part of your life now.

10. You think drinking decaf is like wine without alcohol.

11. Your purse is over-flowing with coffee shop loyalty cards.

12. And when you get a free coffee from said loyalty cards, you order the biggest and most extravagant coffee of them all. And it makes you so happy.

Nowadays, the minute autumn hits, everyone becomes obsessed with pumpkin spice. There’s no escape from it!

Last year, roughly one in three people picked up something pumpkin-y, with the assumption that the number will grow this year.

Everyone has put their spin in the Halloween treat, from scones to soda – but here are five facts about our pumpkin spice obsession that you should know:

It’s a $361 (€322) MILLION business

Yep, that figure is correct. It’s no wonder companies are coming out with everything pumpkin-spice to capture a bit of the buzz. They want to bank in on the cash too.

Pumpkin gets more attention than apples

No other fruit or vegetable is as popular this time of year. Apples haven't had the same marketing blitz behind it that say, the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte has, with countdowns to its release, an official Twitter account and a 10-year anniversary campaign in 2013.

The world loves to add caramel to their spice

According to Pinterest, this year, pumpkin isn’t the only thing we’re obsessing over. Nope, the people of the world have stepped it up a notch and like to mix it up with some salted caramel. Indulge? Us? Never…

The calories are shocking

There are 410 calories in a pumpkin-spiced latte. Wow, we know. Now that includes whole milk and cream. But if you want to enjoy a bit of spice on the lighter side, stick to non-fat milk and no cream as it brings the calories down to 260. Still though, you can’t have a spiced latter with no cream.

RUN to Starbucks on Halloween

According to My Fitness Pal, Halloween day is the most popular day of the year to consume the autumn treat. There was a 7.3 percent rise in people drinking the spiced coffee on that day than any other. So if you want to grab a bit of spice, run to Starbucks! You don’t want to miss out.

When it comes to seasonal drinks, Starbucks definitely have the monopoly on the latter half of the year.

Any new flavour launched by the company results in worldwide excitement, and it was no different when the Toasted Graham Latte was revealed this morning.

The new drink will stand alongside the Pumpkin Spice Latte to form the coffee giant's limited edition range of autumnal drinks… with special fall-themed cups, too.

For those of you who have never tried a graham cracker (that would be pretty much any Irish person), it is something akin to a Digestive biscuit.

They're made of graham flour, a type of whole-wheat flour which gives them their mealy, sweet taste.

Graham crackers are often used in cheesecake bases, and now they're entering the world of beverages with Starbucks' newest addition.

Described as an "espresso beverage with steamed milk, flavours of graham and sweet cream and finished with a sprinkling of cinnamon graham crumbles," the Toasted Graham Latte sounds DELISH.

And we reckon it'll be much more universally appealing than the strong cinnamon spice of the PSL.

But – the big question – will the Toasted Graham Latte be available in Ireland?

Sadly it seems like the new drink won't be making it over to this side of the pond, with official press statements saying it's just a US and Canada addition.

Happy Fall! #starbucks #toastedgrahamlatte #fall

Starbucks Ireland have made no mention of the new drink on Facebook or Twitter, nor have they responded to questions about it today.

A visit to our local branch of Starbucks revealed that staff knew nothing of any new additions, though we were told that there IS hopefully another flavour coming in November… "Spiced Apple or something."

For now though, we'll just have to be happy with Pumpkin Spice, and the return of the Toffee Nut Latte, Eggnog Latte and more come Red Cup season.

If you're sick of Pumpkin Spice Lattes and feel that the dawn of the Starbucks Red Cups is a long time away, fear not, as the coffee giant is cashing in on the seasonal fun with a special Halloween drink, available for just three days.

Behold, the Franken Frappucino – a Green Tea Frapp with peppermint and white chocolate mocha added. Yum!

Look at all that scary, green goodness!

Starbucks Ireland don't officially have the Halloween drink advertised in their branches (maybe they're waiting to use the recipe for Paddy's Day), but you can just be cheeky and ask for one anyway – here are the instructions!

  1. Start with a Green Tea Frappuccino
  2. Add java chips
  3. Add three pumps of white mocha sauce
  4. Add three pumps of peppermint syrup (and substitute that for the classic syrup – there’s no classic syrup in the Franken Frappuccino.)
  5. Top with whipped cream and mocha drizzle.

We will definitely be giving this one a go!

We do love a good morning coffee/sugar fix, but we still kinda hate the fact that Starbucks seems to have a global monopoly when it comes to hot beverages.

Whatever your opinion on Caramel Frappucinos and Toffee Nut Lattes, we bet you'll get a kick out of the coffee giant's latest promotion.

In an effort to boost sales over the Christmas period, Starbucks are launching a "Free Drinks for Life" Competition." Ten lucky Starbucks card users will apparently be surprised with the long-life prize sometime between December 2nd and Christmas Day.

A lifetime supply, by the way, actually only translates to 30 years of free drinks, but that's still pretty impressive. And just a little bit scary.

The competition is currently only open to customers in the US, but who knows, it may be extended to Europe too.

Think how far you could go with the Starbucks secret menu if you had those privileges! A Kit Kat Frapp for us, please. Or a Cinnamon Roll Frapp. Or a… The choices are endless!

If you felt a bit sick even reading that, you are not alone.

Always one for experimenting with flavours, Starbucks has launched a new Dark Barrel Latte inspired by Irish stout such as Guinness.

Starbucks describe the new latte as a “blend of espresso, and chocolatey stout flavoured sauce and freshly steamed milk, topped with whipped cream and dark caramel drizzle.”

It's also available as a Frappuccino, but if you want something cold that tastes like Guinness, you could always, you know, drink some Guinness.

It's currently only available at a few locations in the US while they test its popularity, and the reaction on Twitter has been… mixed.

It looks like the Guinness Latte is a contender to be the next Marmite.

Anyone with an Irish name, or any name over two syllables really, will know this pain.

You join the queue at your local Starbucks, order that long-awaited Pumpkin Spice Latte, and clearly state your name… yet when your drink comes out it's been TAINTED with a jumble of letters that is not even remotely close to what you just said.

Sure, those misspellings make for very entertaining Facebook posts – and there's even a Tumblr full of them – but did you ever consider that this blatant butchering of your name might actually be for entertainment purposes?!

One barista has set the record straight in this video and we can't help but agree with him. Okay, it might be a spoof, but he has a good point!

Word on the street is that you can walk into Starbucks and order something that isn’t even on the menu – well, at least not the menu that we all see. There is another, SECRET menu that has been created for Starbucks fans, by Starbucks fans.

Here are five drinks from it that we think sound absolutely delicious – have you tried any of them?

Peppermint Chocolate Chip Frappuccino
If you’re a fan of Aeros, then you’ll probably enjoy this too!

Cinnamon Roll Frappuccino
Made up of mocha syrup mixed with cinnamon dolce syrup and topped with cinnamon powder, this one should satisfy cinnamon loves no end.

Kit Kat Frappuccino
There aren’t any actual Kit Kats in this, but it’s meant to taste just as good!

Cha Cha Latte

If you like green tea, you should give this mix of green tea and chai syrup a go. A healthy option, perhaps?

Almond Roca Frappuccino
A mixture of caramel and toffee nut syrup, this sounds like the dream coffee. We’ll definitely be giving this a go one of these autumn evenings!
