Strictly Come Dancing

We are not gonna lie. We love a bit of Strictly Come Dancing

From the sparkly outfits to our favourite dances (which is the jive obvs), we literally love it all. We even love Craig's resting bitch face.

But behind all the glitz and glamour, Strictly has faced quite a barrage of controversy this year which is quite surprising considering the squeaky clean front put on by the beloved BB1 show.

So is Strictly as innocent as it makes out? Or has it fallen into the over produced traps of so many hit talent shows in the past? (we're looking at you, X Factor). Let's investigate.

1) Ola Jordan's recent claims

Given that the judges scores are added to the publics vote, that score is pretty influential in terms of deciding which contestants stay in the competition.

One of the shows long standing professional dancers, Ola Jordan, recently made quite a number of surprising claims about the nature of the show and how the judges score.

"Some of the marking is way off. People are over-marked and under-marked. All the pros talk about the marking. We ask each other, 'What is all that about? Why are they trying to over-mark that person?' "

It would seem that the comments did not go down very well, as Ola announced her retirement from the show a week later. Yikes!

2) Bias towards certain contestants

Olympic boxer Anthony Ogogo slammed the BBC after he was voted out in the second week of the competition.

Anthony claimed that he knew he would not get very far in the competition because he was not a "BBC face" like fellow contestant and journalist, Jeremy Vine.

Ola Jordan's husband and former strictly dancer, James Jordan also claimed that the show tended to give bias in favour of certain contestants when his wife was voted out in week one.

In a tweet, James said: "I love Peter [Andre] but I wonder if he will open or close every show? Fairness."

Do these guys have a point or are they simply sore losers?

3) Outspoken Jamelia has a go

Jamelia is renowned for being honest and outspoken and she certainly did not disappoint when she left the competition this week after a dance off with Peter Andre.

On the Strictly spin off show It Takes Two, Jamelia claimed she knew she was going home when the producers reportedly RE-RECORDED the end Peter Andre's dance so that it would appear the crowd gave him a standing ovation.

Despite the dance receiving negative feedback from the judges, Peter was then indeed saved. Watch the awkward moment here.

While we don't want to believe that anything untoward is happening on our favourite show, all the controversy probably only makes us want to watch it even more.

We hoped he might go all the way… but this evening Daniel O'Donnell became the third celebrity to be voted off Strictly Come Dancing

The Donegal crooner had been one of the favourites from the outset but he and his professional dance partner Kristina Rihanoff were ultimately eliminated following a tense dance-off against Kirsty Gallacher and Brendan Cole.

Still, the 53-year-old was in reasonably good spirits afterwards.

Speaking to presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, he lauded Kristina's dance talents and also went on to wish the remaining contestants the best of luck in the competition.

And Kristina took to Twitter after the show had finished to publicly praise Daniel. "So glad I got an opportunity to get to know a great person," she stated.

Mr O'Donnell and Ms Rihanoff had earlier danced to Frank Sinatra's Fly Me To The Moon. A total of 13 couples now remain in the contest.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday 24 October at 6.35pm, with the results show on Sunday 25 October at 7.15pm on BBC One.

Harry Potter fans are going to be very excited with this latest revelation.

No, unfortunately it is not JK Rowling up to her usual social media lurking, this time it’s Daniel Radcliffe himself making some interesting announcements.

After making a name for himself as the most recognised wizard the world over, the actor has confessed that there is one project he feels would make his parents very proud.

The BBC One ballroom dancing competition, Strictly Come Dancing, is the one reality TV series that Daniel says could tempt him.

“I guess Strictly, because at least my mum and dad would be proud,” he told Radio Times. Dashing hopes everywhere though, he added quickly “That’s not an option!”

Never fear however, Daniel will be reappearing on the small screen soon as he joined BBC Two’s new drama The Gamechangers.

“It’s the story of the computer game Grand Theft Auto, which was a huge part of my life growing up,” he explained.

“I play Sam Houser, one of the guys who invented it. But I never had any idea about the detail of the trouble the guys got into, or even that it was such a British story.”

Since the ended of the Harry Potter films in 2011, Daniel has had a number of decidedly darker roles, he doesn’t seem to consider this a planned move. Instead he said he chooses his projects taking into consideration what experience they will provide.

“I choose scripts by asking: what is the experience that is going to make me most happy? I’m very lucky, but there’s no grand career plan.”

While on the topic of his formative years, Daniel said that The Simpsons were one of his things to watch. He confessed that whole travelling outside of the UK he misses one particular show dearly: Come Dine With Me.

“I watch a lot of it. It’s all down to the voiceover guy, Dave Lamb. Other versions in different countries just aren’t as good.”

Uh-oh, it looks like Peter Andre is going to be feeling serious pressure with his latest project.

The 42-year old pop star has been named as one the many celebs to take on the challenge of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

It looks like he has an awful more than simply remembering his routines and getting the perfect sequin to flesh ratio perfect however. He has revealed that his performance is going to be a matter of house and home.

If his appearance on Strictly doesn’t go well, apparently he’s going to be facing eviction!

Don’t worry though, the father of three has admitted that it’s not an unruly landlord that is piling on the pressure. Instead it was his eldest kids that gave him the ultimatum.

“Mine said, 'If you embarrass us just once, don't come home'. So now I'm thinking, so when did it become your house?”

Peter isn’t the only cast member who has a family that are going to be difficult to impress.

Singer Jamelia also revealed that her daughters told her if she didn’t take the job then she wouldn’t be welcome in their home anymore.

"My daughters were literally like, 'Mummy, do not even come home if you're not going to do Strictly this year',” the TV presenter admitted.

Sounds the pressure is on for the two stars this year then. Luckily Pete does have two special people in his corner, no matter if he wins or not.

Speaking about his new wife’s feelings about his new gig Peter said “she’s a really sweet, supportive person.”

He and Emily wed in July of this year, the 25-year old and Peter have a daughter together, Amelia who is 18 months old.

It's official, Daniel O' Donnell has been announced to take part in the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The Irish musician has just been brought back to the public's attention with a performance on the Rose of Tralee which sparked somewhat of a debate on live radio when the presenter suggested that Daniel may not have been singing in tune.

But Daniel has distracted from all that fuss today with his big announcement that he will be one of the contestants on Strictly Come Dancing.

The singer was speaking on Steve Wright In The Afternoon on BBC Radio 2 earlier today when he said:

"Earlier this year, I decided to take a short break from touring and told myself that I would only consider doing something if it was both different and exciting."

"Well, what could be more exciting than Strictly Come Dancing? I love to dance and boy am I looking forward to getting started and being the best that I can be!"

We think the other celebs probably have quite a bit of competition on their hands as Daniel is no stranger to success.

He has sold 15 million albums in his career since shooting to fame in 1983 so it's fair to say he has the public's backing.

Daniel is the eighth celebrity so far confirmed for the dancing contest, alongside Peter Andre who was announced yesterday and Ready Steady Cook presenter Ainsley Harriott.

O’Danny Boy! Welcome Irish international singing sensation Daniel O'Donnell to #Strictly.

Also included in the line-up are an English weather presenter and a Coronation Street actress.

We wonder if anymore Irish will feature?

He's better known as the hard-working family man – but earlier today presenter and singer Peter Andre proved he's well able to demand plenty of attention too.

Snuggling up in bed with his fiancee Emily MacDonagh, the 42-year-old smiled warmly for the camera with his lady-love by his side.

And although the duo, who have been together since 2012 and are engaged to be married, were careful not to give fans too much of an eye-full – it certainly seems that they are, in fact, totally naked.

It is a rare glimpse into the under-the-radar couple's intimate world. Parents to 18-month old Amelia, Emily, 25, has only recently completed her medical studies.

They often shun red-carpet events to spend time at home with their daughter, as well as Peter's two children, Junior, ten, and Princess, eight, from his four-year long marriage to model and TV personality Katie Price.

Engaged since January of 2014, last week it was rumoured that Peter was happy to have their wedding indefinitely on hold so that they can add more children to their brood before tying the knot.

Born in Australia but based in England for many years, Mr Andre is still best-known for his huge summer hit Mysterious Girl, which was released in 1995, and re-released in 2004.

More recently, it has been widely speculated that he will take part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing show, alongside the likes of Michelle Keegan.

If you're a fan of Strictly Come Dancing, prepare to get very excited, as it's strongly rumoured that Michelle Keegan will be joining the show's ranks this autumn.

As well as her acting chops, the Coronation Street star apparently has some serious dancing talents too, so much so that she and her new husband Mark Wright performed a special Dirty Dancing routine at their recent wedding.

In an interview this week Michelle hinted that something exciting was coming her way later this year, though she refused to divulge anything further. "We've got something in the pipeline for the beginning of Autumn but I can't say too much because nothing's been signed yet," she told OK! Online.

"I can say though that it's something really exciting."

With Mark's history on Strictly, having made it to the quarter-final last year with professional dancer Karen Hauer, Michelle is no doubt keen to show what she can do too.

The newlywed said she is enjoying being able to focus on new projects outside of acting now that she is not tied into a contract with Coronation Street. As well as her BBC show Our Girl, the actress is also working on her next collection for Lipsy, as well as being the face of Garnier Ambre Solaire. Quite a lot for one lady!

"I mean with Coronation Street you're very restricted with what you can and can't do because you're contracted – so when I was in Corrie I couldn't do anything else," she explained.

"When I left, I can still act which is obviously my passion but I can do other things on the side like the Lipsy collection – I'm just in a really lucky position at the minute."

We really hope one of those "other things" happens to be the new series of Strictly…

Former rugby player and Strictly Come Dancing contestant Ben Cohen is set to take his ex's mother to court later this month on a harassment charge.

The sports star was married to Abby Cohen, the mother of his twin daughters, for eleven years, before the couple split in 2014.

Ben now claims that Abby's mother Felicity Bassouls bombarded him with calls and emails after the split.

It's widely believed Ben and Abby's marriage breakdown was linked to rumours the rugby star had grown close to his Strictly partner, professional dancer Kristina Rihanoff, while appearing on the show as a celebrity contestant in 2013.

Both Ben and Kristina strongly denied there was anything going on between them, although the chemistry between them was widely commented on.

Last year it was revealed that Kristina had apparently been banned from partnering with married men on the show, after the break ups of Joe Calzaghe, Vincent Simone and then Ben were linked to her.

Back in September, Felicity branded Ben a "bully" and responded to his official statement about his split from Abby by saying, "I have experienced a great deal of bullying from you myself. Your behaviour has been so disrespectful and very intimidating not just to myself but my husband also."

She continued by saying, "I know you very well Mr. Ben Cohen and I am not going to stand back and let you bully and intimidate me again. You have broken my daughter's heart and the little girls' and also my heart."

Now Ben plans to take Felicity to court on a harassment charge, with a date set for later this month.

Sounds like a very messy split indeed.

Saturdays singer Frank Sandford turns the ripe old age of 26 today… and as well as making us feel like TOTAL under-achievers, it's also got us thinking back over some of the star's top style moments!

The Strictly Come Dancing finalist is well known for her amazing taste, so here's a look back at some of the moments she was totally on fleek…

1. The time she completely outshone all the other Saturdays
"I'll see your dresses and raise you an AMAZING polka-dot playsuit…"

2. The time she got winter style down to a T
We need that camel coat… now!

3. The time she still oozed red carpet glamour while six months pregnant
If we look half as good as that when we're preggers we'll be delighted!

4. The time she rocked this bizarre colour combo and still looked amazing
Blue, yellow AND red together kind of screams "Boy Scouts" to us but Frankie made it look classy!

5. The time she was part of S Club Juniors and yet was still a style icon
Spot her on the right! We lusted after those flared jeans with the floral embroidery for our Confirmation outfit…

Happy birthday Frankie!

Poor Ola Jordan has received some very bad news this weekend – she’s set to be out of action for nine months after her ski injury.

The professional dancer and star of Strictly Come Dancing was training for reality show The Jump when she fell and seriously injured her left leg, with sources claiming the injury may be ‘career changing’.

The star stepped out for the first time today on crutches, with her leg in a brace.

A source close to Ola, who is married to fellow dancer James, said that she is “devastated” by the awful news.

“It looked bad from the beginning but Ola hoped it looked worse than it was. But the professional advice has come back and the news is very disappointing,” said the source.

They added: “She’s absolutely gutted as there were loads of things in the pipeline which will now have to be put on hold.”

Poor Ola. We hope she has a full and speedy recovery.

She is renowned for her amazing dancing skills, so there are major fears for the future of Strictly Come Dancing professional Ola Jordan’s career after this latest news.

According to reports, the dancer has suffered a ‘potentially career-changing’ injury sustained during her training preparations for Channel 4’s ski-themed reality show The Jump.

Sources told The Sun that the 32-year-old fell during training at The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead, with her subsequent injuries now ruling her out of participating in the competition.

“It was a freak accident and nobody’s fault, but she fell heavily and the injuries are very serious,” said the source, adding, “She definitely will not be taking part in this weekend’s Strictly dances, nor The Jump in January.”

In a devastating admission, the source revealed: “The injuries could leave her unable to dance at the same level ever again. She’s in a bad way.”

What awful news for poor Ola. We wish her a full and speedy recovery.

We wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of Katie Price, that's for sure.

The former glamour model caused a bit of a stir last month when she posted a cryptic tweet during an episode of Strictly Come Dancing about a mystery man on the show who had tried and failed to date her. Although she has yet to name the contestant, she now claims she has "a vault of evidence" about the man who pursued her.

The tweet, which was shared late last month, said, "Watching @bbcstrictly funny how he became arrogant v quick & can't say hi yet 2 years ago were wanting 2 me me in a hotel & his house mmm."

Correcting her wording, she added: "Meet me #fake."

The male contestants left in the show at the time were Blue's Simon Webbe, Michelle Keegan's boyfriend Mark Wright, Eastenders star Jake Wood and naturalist Steve Backshall.

Mark's rep was quick to note that he and Katie had never met before this year and that he had certainly never invited her to a hotel, with a source close to Jake saying the same. As for Simon, Katie really seemed to be rooting for him in the show, even asking viewers to vote.

So that leaves us with… Steve.

Really?!

Katie still refuses to name her mystery suitor but she claims whoever he is, he's stupid to think he can lie about her. "I still don't want to name him. But what I will say to anyone who denies something that's true, never deny it where I'm concerned. I'm honest," she told Now! magazine. "I always tell the truth and I always keep proof and backups of everything. I have a vault of evidence to prove it, if I have to."

We sense we haven't heard the end of this one!
