Actress and comedian Melissa McCarthy has revealed the reason she decided to design a plus-size clothing line.

Melissa was talking to Redbook magazine when she spoke about the difficulty she had in finding a dress for the 2011 Oscars, saying: “Two Oscars ago, I couldn’t find anyone to do a dress for me. I asked five or six designers … Very high-level ones who make lots of dresses for people, and they all said no.”

The Bridesmaids star also spoke about the hard time she has when shopping: “When I go shopping, most of the time I’m disappointed.”

Thankfully, Melissa knows exactly what is important in life – and it isn’t fame or the “perfect” body: “Success doesn’t define us [her and her husband], even though we love what we do. The important thing is our family and kids.”

Well, we hope those silly designers are kicking themselves now!

Picking out the perfect bikini is no easy task. Here are some things you should take into consideration when choosing yours:

1. Skin tone
If you have paler skin, remember that colour such as white may not look as striking on you as they would on someone with a tan. Go for a cream or ivory colour to give yourself a lift.

2. Shape
Highlight your best assets. If you have larger breasts, you may want more support and so an underwire bikini top may benefit you more than a flimsy string top. Likewise, if you do not like your bottom half, you can always find a cute bikini with a little skirt to give yourself more beach confidence.

3. Too late
Don’t leave it too late in the season to buy your bikini as all of the good ones may be gone. Get in there early and have your pick from all the lovely new arrivals.

4. Don’t spend a fortune
There is absolutely no need to go crazy and drop lots of money on a bikini. Think about it. We live in Ireland, this will be worn 1-2 weeks a year MAX. There are plenty of stunning bikini choices out there without having to break the bank.

5. Accessorise!
It’s not all just about the bikini y’know! You can jazz up a plain coloured bikini with a cute hat, sunglasses and even some elegant body jewellery.

What item do you think every girl should have in her closet? 
A great coat. I have so many coats – too many even – but I honestly think they are so important. A stylish coat can make even the simplest outfit look effortlessly chic.

What’s the most expensive item of clothing you’ve bought?
At the risk of sounding really spoiled I have to admit most of my really expensive, designer pieces have been gifts. I’d probably have to say my Senso boots were among the most expensive I’ve bought myself, partly because they were expensive and partly because they came from Australia and customs sent me an additional bill!

What’s your best bargain?
My camel coat, which I got for £5 in a vintage shop in Glasgow. I love vintage finds.

What would you say is your favourite accessory?
Definitely my Michael Kors rings. I’m quite the magpie when it comes to accessories. I also love sunglasses.

If you could only shop in one store for the rest of your life, which would it be?
That would be so difficult but I’d have to choose Zara. Their pieces are very classic and I love their bags and shoes.

Little Mix went for a seriously sophisticated look for last night’s Glamour Awards.

The girls looked stunning in their outfits and even went for a matching monochrome look.

Leigh-Anne slicked her hair into a low ponytail and went for a very classy gown with grey detail while Jesy broke up her all black outfit with crimson lips.

Perrie went for a flowing dress with black detail, which we love, while Jade kept it simple in all white with a red lip.

While we do generally love the girls’ individual and sometimes crazy style, it’s lovely to see them like this for a change!

Vanessa Hudgens took to her Instagram account to début her new blue hair.

The actress had been sporting dark locks with a blonde ombre for some time now, we like this change!

The summery colour may be hard to match clothes to though…

Swimsuits for All have recreated the 50th anniversary edition of Sports Illustrated with their own version.

The original featured models Chrissy Teigan, Lily Aldridge and Nina Agdal.

However, the swimsuit company have created their very own cover featuring plus-size models Robyn Lawley, Jada Sezer, Shareefa J. and blogger, Gabi Gregg.

The beautiful photos were taken on the beaches of Turks and Caicos and will appear in the company’s upcoming calender.

Gabi shared her thoughts on the shoot in a behind-the-scenes video, saying: “I think it’s sad that the representatives of women in mainstream culture are usually so small just because we have such a diversity of sizes in the real world … so many women see those girls and think they have to look like them. And I know plus-size models and bloggers, like myself, are really helping to change that.”

We think this is great – there is beauty at every size, small or big. You go, ladies!

Cheryl Cole has revealed her top style crush – Victoria Beckham!

The pop star has been having a ball at the Cannes Film Festival this month and lusting after the stunning designer gowns on the red carpet.

Cheryl said, ”Blake Lively has looked gorgeous this time in Cannes, but if I think of someone who always gets it right every single time, then Victoria Beckham. She looked stunning at the Met Ball with David recently.”

After five years in the Cannes spotlight representing L’OREAL Paris, Cheryl has learnt what works best for her on the red carpet and what really doesn’t!

”A couple of years back, I was having my nails painted while I was getting ready and as I got out of the car to walk the red carpet I smudged my wet burgundy nails on my white gown,” said the X Factor judge.

”I was horrified, but I just smiled and walked and kept my hand over the stain. The next day the newspapers reported that I had a perfect manicure; if only they knew.

”Now, I go for a neutral nail and avoid any rich body lotions before I get dressed – although I do love a tinted skin shimmer if I’m wearing black or a dark dress.,” she said.
