Our overuse of smartphones might be giving us jowls
Many, many people over the years have spent lots of good money to get rid of jowls – and it doesn’t sound as if that will be stopping any time soon…
A report by The Telegraph has said that something known as "tech-neck" is beginning to increase in people between the ages of 18-39 due to our overuse of smartphones, with experts saying we look down at our phones up to 150 times a DAY! Scary.
So, what is "tech-neck"? Well, apparently it’s a crease that develops on between our chin and neck – in other words, jowls.
Dr Christopher Rowland-Payne of The London Clinic explained the increase of tech-neck, saying: “The problem with wrinkles and sagging of the jowls and neck used to begin in late middle age but, in the last 10 years, because of tech-neck, it has become a problem for a generation of younger women.”
Hmm, what about the men?! Surely they use their phones just as much AND have necks?!
Well, this might answer that! The research was commissioned by Yves St Laurent to coincide with the release of their new Forever Youth Liberator Y-Shape crème specially designed to target the ‘Y-area’ of the lower face, throat and décolletage.
We reckon this news is enough to put us off stalking that girl that was in our primary school and is now a famous make-up artist in Hollywood for another while…
