the late late show

It seems comedian James Corden can do no wrong when it comes to viral hits and his latest venture with Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick is another absolute winner.

Appearing on The Late Late Show, Anna joined James on stage to perform an awesome musical mash-up of some very famous love songs.

In keeping with the romantic theme, the pair work through falling in love with The Weeknd's Can't Feel My Face, get married to Bruno Mars' Marry You, break up with Shaggy's Wasn't Me and eventually reunite to the classic ballad I Will Always Love You.

Lauded as one of the best Carpool Karaokes so far, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' appearance on on The Late Late Show's popular music segment has had EVERYONE talking this week.

But while most of us were fascinated by what was going on INSIDE the car, we had no idea that James and the four lads had been caught up in one truly terrifying moment during the filming.

Speaking to Chris Moyles on Radio X, the Under the Bridge singer revealed that it hadn't all been fun and the games during the segment's taping.

"We danced off, we tied and then we were going to celebrate with some Mexican food on the corner," Anthony told the British broadcaster. "And a woman came out of her house, holding a child saying ‘My baby, my baby, my baby can’t breathe!’"

"We all ran across the street, the woman thrust the baby into my arms, the baby was not breathing and I thought ‘I’m gonna try and do a little baby CPR real quick, see if I can get some air in this kid," Anthony explained.

After unsuccessfully trying to open the child's mouth, Anthony tried another method, saying: "I started rubbing the belly, bubbles came out of the mouth, the eyes rolled back into place."

Finishing the jaw-dropping story in classic laidback Kiedis style, Anthony simply said: "The ambulance showed up and I handed the baby over, who was now breathing and fine, and we went back to Carpool Karaoke."

Hats off to that man.

James Corden might be best known for his karaoke skills, but last night the comedian proved he also knows his way around a race track as he competed with former Friends star, Matt LeBlanc, in the “Bottom Gear” challenge.

With lilac children’s scooters as their vehicles of choice, the two TV personalities went toe-to-toe as they raced over bumps, through walls and around the Late Late Show studio with comical results.

In the end LeBlanc’s Top Gear experience gave him the edge as he bet the show’s host back to the finish line.

Ladies, check this one out!

If anyone has the right to weigh in on a discussion surrounding The Late Late Show , it's the man who brought it to our screens in 1962 and fronted it for the next 37 years, right?

And it doesn't sound like veteran broadcaster, Gay Byrne, is at all happy with talk that the long-running RTÉ show is due a major revamp

Despite ratings being at an all-time low given the rising popularity of RTÉ player, Gay insists it' should be the last thing on the mind of new director general, Dee Forbes.

"I can tell you there would be a lot more important matters on the plate of an incoming RTÉ director general than sorting out The Late Late Show."

"I would be a rich man if I had a penny for every time somebody announced The Late Late Show was on the way out, or in trouble, or going down the plughole," he added.

Reminding those who have recently slammed the quality of the show that little can be done to overhaul its standard template, 81-year-old Gay insisted: "How could RTE revamp a chat show?"

"A chat show is a chat show. It does what it says on the tin," he blasted. "The idea of revamping The Late Late Show is plain ridiculous."

Look, if Uncle Gaybo says it's graaand, then it's graaand.

Every single time we think Carpool Karaoke can't possibly get any better, James Corden goes and pulls it right out of the bag, doesn't he?

After snagging the Red Hot Chili Peppers for The Late Late Show's hugely popular music segment, James and the lads cruised LA while belting out the band's biggest hits…as well as some lesser known, much more questionable ones.

Between demanding to know what the lads meant by specific lyrics – 'What have you got that you're going to give to my mum?' – to revealing he loves a good man wrestle, James is clearly pumped that he's getting to shoot the breeze with one of the industry's biggest acts.

Proving the excitement may have gotten too much for him, James even strips off while rocking The Zephyr Song, and frankly we're all over it.

Chili fans, you need to prepare yourself for this one because it's as epic as you'd expect.

For most of us, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl was our first introduction to the unimaginable horror endured by millions during the Holocaust, and it's a story that has remained with most of us long into adulthood.

Offering further insight into the Nazi regime on this week's Late Late Show is Anne's stepsister, Eva Schloss, who is set to share her story with Ryan later tonight.

After becoming separated from her brother and father, Eva, along with her mother, experienced extreme deprivation, starvation and terrible cruelty in the notorious Nazi death camp.

In one of the most incredible examples of will and determination, Eva will tell Ryan how she triumphed over evil and found the strength to carry on by keeping her family's memory alive.

This is one interview we will not be missing out on.

During the Late Late Show last night, there was a segment on how sausages are really made – and let's just say, it didn't go down well.

To make matters worse, the audience and viewers became very frustrated when Ryan Tubridy began to play with a pig’s head which was sitting on a table.

Some didn’t think the head should have even been there and others thought it was highly distasteful of Ryan to play with it. It's safe to say that Twitter was absolutely flooded with complaints:

While there is a lot to talk about regarding the Late Late Shows' Valentine's Special, one standout moment was an audience members absolute disgust during one outrageous part of the show.

Yep, one woman really thought Daniel O' Donnel was making a surprise appearance to make all her Valentine's Day dreams come true and got understandably… well… very excited.

So of course when Daniel turned out to actually be Mario Rosenstock doing a pretty gas impression of the Irish crooner, this woman was not at all impressed.

In fact, she looked downright disgusted.

And while the audience members seemed to be having the time of their lives…

… all the rest of us could do was watch from our couches in sheer disbelief.

Well, all we can say is this is going to be one very interesting Late Late.

Hollywood stars Kevin Hart and Ice Cube are set to appear on The Late Late Show this Friday, and we can't WAIT to see how Ryan Tubridy is going to handle them.

The comedian and rapper have both turned to acting for their role in Ride Along 2, which will be discussed between the three men on the show.

Ice Cube will also be talking about Straight Outta Compton, last year's box office hit, which portrayed the rapper's early days in music.

Kevin, who has a massive 25 million followers on Twitter, will chat to Ryan about turning from a popular comedian, to a film star.

Either way, we're betting this Friday's Late Late will be full of laughs and certainly a bit different from the rest. Let's just hope Kevin doesn't go a bit OTT with his jokes.

If you've been swiping on Tinder and matching on POF to no avail, it could be time to call in the big guns.

By which we of course mean Ryan Tubridy. And The Late Late Show.

This February, RTÉ is bringing back the Late Late Valentine's Special, with the hope of sparking some looove amongst the audience members at Montrose.

If you're "not camera shy, up for a laugh and looking for love," you can apply for tickets to be an audience member on the February 12 show via the RTÉ website now.

And no, you can't go along as a wingman/wingwoman for your single friends – this is a call-out for people who are "definitely" single, a statement from RTÉ says.

"Last year was great fun – there was a palpable excitement in the studio," said Ryan of the decision to do a match-making show again this year.

"I’m really looking forward to some great guests and to bringing in a new batch of singles."

Who knows, you could witness first-hand another celebrity gaffe of Ronan O'Gara's "I wouldn't be nervous getting up on Jessica" proportions, as happened on last year's Valentine's Special:

Only in Ireland.

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg graced Irish soil earlier this week, as they hit Dublin for the premiere of their new film, Daddy's Home.

RTÉ confirmed yesterday that the pair had pre-recorded an interview with none other than Ryan Tubridy in front of a live studio audience.

So yes, you'll be able to hear all about Will and Mark's Irish trip tomorrow night on The Late Late Show.

Rumour has it we'll even get to see Mark's impression of a drunken Irish dad – the two actors apparently found themselves in the middle of a group of competition winners at the premiere who were only there "to get pissed." Standard.

"The great thing was, the guy beside him said ‘I didn’t understand a word he said either’ and he talked to us for probably five minutes," Mark told Ryan.

As well as appearing on our nation's TV holy grail, Mark and Will also dished out the selfie love very freely indeed, posing with countless fans outside Dublin's Savoy Cinema:

Oh, and they visited a fair few pubs, too:

Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell we officially award you Legend status.

During last night's Late Late Show, rapper Professor Green took centre stage, off screen his wife Millie MacIntosh was keeping us all very entertained.

Prof. Green sat down with Tubs to talk about his new book. He also gave an interesting insight into his most famous tattoo. The ink, which says 'lucky' is in the same place on his neck where he was stabbed.

"People always say you got the lucky tat there because you survived but no!" He explained he got the art before the incident and was lucky the surgeon could put it back together. Ouch.

While former Made In Chelsea star Millie, 26, was not on camera during the interview, she did sneak into the studios before filming began.

Unusually camera shy on her trip to Donnybrook, Millie kept her followers up to date on the rest of her Dublin visit on Instagram.

She's been sharing snaps of her very stylish Dublin visit, starting off with her all black look for Prof. Green's 3 Arena performance:

The pair have also been enjoying some of Dublin's finest eateries during their stay. Foodie Millie shared some snaps of her fabulous looking lunch from The Marker hotel.

She and Stephen also took a trip to Dylan McGrath's Taste at Rustic for their Dublin date night before filming The Late Late Show.

Fashionista Millie made sure that she kept everyone in the loops with her wardrobe from the trip. She donned a printed skirt from her own line for her trip to RTÉ studios. She paired it with a Chanel bag that we are all now lusting after.

Fitness fanatic Millie also made the time for a gym session in the middle of her hectic schedule. She squeezed in a session with Dublin-based trainer John Belton of No.17 personal training at the Marker.
