Jersey Shore star facing years in prison after serious legal charges
Cabs are here! Since MTV's Jersey Shore finished in 2012, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has made a fine living for himself with nightclub appearances, product endorsements and guest appearances on other shows.
It seems he wasn’t letting revenue officials in on his success though – Mike’s been charged with income tax evasion on earnings totalling $8.9 million (€6.97m). Ouch.
The 32-year-old and his brother Marc appeared in a New York courtroom yesterday to plead not guilty. Mike is charged with one count of conspiracy and two counts of filing false tax returns.
If he’s found guilty, Mike won’t get off easily – he’ll face up to nine years in prison, as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines.
The TV star hasn’t made any official comment, but he has been busy posting lots of inspirational quotes on Twitter and Instagram over the last few days, like these wise words:
Mike’s currently out on bail, but he is not permitted to leave New York or New Jersey without official permission. He'll return to court at the end of October.
This isn’t the first time the muscular star has been caught up in legal drama. Back in June he was arrested for brawling with his other brother Frank at the New Jersey tanning salon they share ownership of.
