Former co-directors of the Together for Yes campaign have been featured on Time magazine’s list of most influential people.

Grainne Griffin, Ailbhe Smyth and Orla O’ Connor are said to be thrilled to feature in the TIME 100 list.

They stand alongside Jacinda Ardern, Brie Larson, Taylor Swift and Greta Thunberg.

The women were recognised for their efforts in leading the Together For Yes campaign during the abortion referendum in Ireland in 2018.

Ruth Negga penned a touching note for Time magazine about the impact the campaign has had on the country.

She wrote: “In May 2018, Irish society voted to lift the near-total ban on abortion that had been in place for 35 years. Society gave its overwhelming blessing to the fundamental rights of women and girls to bodily autonomy, after generations of secondary status, largely dictated by the power and oppression of the Catholic Church.”

The actress praised the activists: “Together for Yes, the campaign to repeal the eighth amendment to the Irish constitution, put the Mná na hÉireann (women of Ireland) front, centre and in control of their own bodies and rights like never before.

“It was breathtaking to witness the determination, intelligence and sheer hard work of its leaders Grainne Griffin, Ailbhe Smyth and Orla O’Connor, who mobilized people of all different backgrounds in the lead-up to the vote. They put the experiences of women and the needs of their country first.

“Their incredible tenacity and integrity and courageousness will be an inspiration for generations to come,” she added.

Huge congratulations to Grainne Griffin, Ailbhe Smyth and Orla O’ Connor and everyone involved in the Repeal the 8th campaign.

Cillian Murphy has been an active advocate for a 'Yes' vote in the upcoming abortion referendum, lending his voice to various campaigns supporting the repeal of the Eighth Amendment. 

And now, the Peaky Blinders star has given one final salute to the Yes side in the form of a delicious chocolate cake. 

As a way of thanking campaigners for all their hard work, Cillian sent the good folk over at Together for Yes a well-deserved treat. 

A tweet on the Together for Yes Twitter page read: ''Cillian Murphy sent us in cake! Fantastic to have support from men around the country to will stand with us and vote YES on Friday May 25th''.

The cake was accompanied by a hand-written note signed by the man himself.  

 ''Thank you all so much for your hard work on the Yes campaign," it read. 

''Together for change, for equality, for love. Together for Yes! Best wishes, Cillian Murphy''.

What an absolute gent!

A number of celebrities have been voicing their support for the Vote Yes side of the debate to repeal the 8th amendment in recent weeks. 

From Saoirse Ronan to Corteney Cox, singers, actors and comedians, both Irish and international have been having their say. 

Kate Nash is the latest musician to lend her voice to the repeal side. 

Taking to Twitter, the Foundations singer wrote:

'Ireland! On May 25th vote to repeal the harmful eighth!' 

'Unsafe and Illegal abortion is barbaric, ancient, harming women and must change!'

The GLOW actress has portrayed the difficulties of abortion in the Netflix show, after her co-character Ruth has a secret termination.

When designer Helen Steele took to the VIP Style Awards red carpet, all eyes were on the 'fashion is repealing' slogan adorning her statement dress. 

The dress is one of many designs which will be hosted in The Atrium tomorrow evening, in a benefit for the Together For Yes campaign, the National Civil Society Campaign to remove the Eighth Amendment from the Constitution.

12 of Ireland's most creative minds in fashion have come together to create a 12 piece, one-off couture collection, along with 50 other limited edition pieces per designer.

Helen Steele, Natalie B Coleman, Margaret O’Connor, Chupi, Pearl Reddington, Jill DeBurca, Caoimhe MacNeice, Tissue, Manley, Sphere One, Atrium and Louise Kavanagh are the designers involved. 

The ‘Fashion is Repealing’ collection will feature hats, necklaces, jackets, dresses and tees.

'As the referendum mostly affects women, we wanted to work with the Irish fashion industry to create a visual conversation within an industry primarily absorbed by women,' said The HunReal Issues founder Andrea Horan.

'We worked with the best designers and makers to come up with some of the most powerful responses to the fight for reproductive rights in Ireland.'

'Whoever is lucky enough to end up with these pieces will be getting a piece of fashion history.'

The designers themselves are impassioned by the project. 

'The defiant feeling of the boldness of the word repeal in the hard metal just makes you feel and believe that we can do this,' designer Chupi Sweetman said of her design. 'This is our chance.' 

All items will be available to buy in Atrium, Powerscourt Centre tomorrow night from 5-7.30pm.

Modern Family star Sarah Hyland just took to Twitter to giver her support to the Repeal project.

The actress tweeted to her 1.6 million followers expressing her thoughts on the 8th amendment, growing awareness of Ireland's abortion rights laws on a global scale. 

The New York-born actress paid homage to her Irish roots in the tweet, saying: 

'I am a woman. I am Irish. I have a slew of health complications that COULD put me in a situation where I would be forced to make a heartbreaking decision,' she wrote. 

'If I was a resident of Ireland, the laws in place would kill me. I understand this all too well. #repealthe8th.'

A number of renowned Irish actors have lent their names to the Together For Yes campaign. 

Stars like Saoirse Ronan, Robert Sheehan, Cillian Murphy, Pauline McLynn, James Nesbit and Game of Thrones' Liam Cunningham have come together to create a video about why they will be voting Yes in the upcoming referendum. 

The video opens with the line, “In Ireland today” and goes on to list the variety of ways in which women are currently affected by the 8th Amendment in this country.

It calls for this to change, “for women’s safety, for a just society, for a fairer Ireland”.

Saoirse and co are also joined by the likes of Sinead Cusack, Ciaran Hinds, Brian Gleeson, Toni O'Rourke, Aisling Bea, Tom Vaughan Lawlor and Victoria Smurfit.

A new poll published in today's Sunday Independent shows majority support for a 'Yes' vote on May 25, though the gap is narrowing. 

Figures show that 45 per cent of respondents say they intend to vote 'Yes' and 34 per cent say they will vote no. 

18 per cent of those survey were still undecided, while 4 per cent did not have an opinion. 

The results were welcomed by Together For Yes who say poll shows consistent support for a Yes vote on the referendum to repeal the Eighth Amendment. 

Campaign Co-Director Ailbhe Smyth said: “We note today’s referendum poll which shows a consistent pattern of support for a Yes vote on May 25th. It demonstrates that the Yes campaign’s message of care and compassion for women in Ireland is hitting home with people across the country.

"In particular we note the strong support among young women, whose future healthcare will be directly affected by the referendum result." 

However, she did acknowledge the 18 per cent of voters who are yet to make up their mind. 

“However, Together For Yes knows that each and every vote will matter over the next 19 days, and we recognise the large number of undecideds who have yet to make up their mind.

“That is why our 'Get Together For Yes’ conversations tour being launched today in Athlone is an important opportunity to speak directly to voters and encourage people to start the discussion with friends and family about the harms of the 8th Amendment.

“The poll shows a growing appetite among Irish people to ensure that abortion in Ireland is safe and regulated. People are well aware that we already have abortion in Ireland, and that it is a reality.

"Voting Yes will regulate it, make it safer and ensure we provide care to women in Ireland who need it."

The Together For Yes initiative has warned voters on both sides of the debate to be wary of tactics used by particular organisations on social media. 

Described as 'Trump' style tactics, the campaign wishes to draw voters attention to the facts surrounding the referendum. 

'It has been reported that a website claiming to be promoting unbiased information was in fact a ploy to capture the Facebook information of Irish citizens in order to target them in the weeks before the referendum on the 25th May, similar to the recent Cambridge Analytica scandal,' said Together For Yes Co-Director Ailbhe Smyth.

'Other reports suggest a video circulated on Facebook was manipulated to look like an RTE news report. Both of these cases have been reported to Facebook and one to the Standards in Public Office Commission.'

'We are all aware of the huge impact that manipulative online and digital campaigns can have on voter sentiment, as was witnessed in the Brexit vote in 2016.'

'Together for Yes understands that the decision to repeal the 8th amendment is not one that Irish people are taking lightly. It is imperative that people are given the opportunity to hear both sides of the argument in a way that allows them to make a fully informed decision and this includes having access to facts, evidence and personal stories. Both sides in this debate have a responsibility to ensure the integrity of all information that is used to support our respective cases.'

Today, the Together for Yes campaign launched a Register4Yes registration drive.

The drive aims to encourage people to make sure they are registered to vote ahead of the deadline on May 8, to vote in the referemdumto repeal the 8th Amendment on May 25th. 

There are 122,000 young people who have turned 18 since the last general election who are eligible to vote.

Overall, 466,000 young people between the ages of 18-25 are currently eligible to vote in Ireland if they are registered.

Any person who turns 18 before the referendum on May 25 is also eligible to register in advance of the deadline.

'This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to vote for a more compassionate and caring society,' Laura Harmon, Together for Yes Mobilisation Team Lead said.

'Nobody under the age of 50 has had a chance to vote on this issue.'

'We are encouraging everyone, especially young people and those who have changed address recently, to make sure they are on the Supplement to the Register of Electors before the deadline of May 8 so that they can vote Yes on May 25.'

Annie Hoey, Together for Yes Canvassing Coordinator said: ‘'Young people have a critical part to play in this historic referendum and Together for Yes is urging them to make sure they are registered to vote so they can vote Yes.'

With a referendum date set for Friday, May 25, canvassing for both sides of the vote is in full swing. 

As signs and banners begin to pop up all over the country, Together for Yes, the national campaign to remove the Eight Amendment from the Irish constitution, begain running a fundraising campaign for poster production.

The campaign originally sought to raise 50,000, but have raised over ten times that.

The Together For Yes Instagram page revealed that the final fundraising target of 500,00 had been met.

The total goal was raised a number of times after the figures were continually surpassed. 

'We are raising €500,000 to continue to put posters across the country, and to fund additional advertising and promotional materials in other key outlets for a positive outcome on the 25th May,' reads the description.

'We are so amazed and proud that this is still going!! Please keep the donations coming so we can reach our final goal for this crowdfund of €500,000 to spread our caring and compassionate Yes message.'
