Former Love Island star Chris Hughes has slammed the 'sickening abuse' experienced by girlfriend Jesy Nelson after she was called 'the ugly one' out of Little Mix.

The 26-year-old jumped to his girlfriend's defence after a cruel troll wrote a horrible comment on his latest photo with 28-year-old Jesy.

The couple are shown cuddling in bed with snacks resting on Chris' chest, and Chris captioned the post;

“So today we went to the cinema, but didn’t watch a film, we just bought chocolate and sweets instead,” adding pig emojis for good measure. Jesy wrote back; "My piglet" with a heart emoji. ADORBS.

The girlband member later posted the same cute image to her Instagram feed, captioning it: “Just a couple of curly-haired posers on a Sunday evening.”

One person wrote a cruel comment about Jesy's appearance saying: “I would rather pay cinemas prices than be led next to that sooooooo much makeup but she was always the ugly one.”

Chris has been vocal about a number of issues that are close to his heart, including animal cruelty, and made sure to stand up for his girlfriend by naming and shaming the troll;

Reacting to the message, Chris shared a screenshot of the comment to his Instagram Story and wrote: “What a c***.”

Chris added in another post: “Find it so strange that grown women enjoy insulting young girls they don’t even know…. honestly.

“Some of the people that follow me and give my girlfriend abuse is actually sickening. Your lives must be so miserable, that you can only feel for them.”

Jesy recently got candid about being branded "the fat one from Little Mix" and the impact which it had on her mental health in a moving Instagram post;

“6 months ago this girl was someone I just wanted to forget. I wanted to erase her from my mind and everyone else’s memory. I didn’t see her as Jesy I saw her as 'the fat one from Little Mix.'

“Up until now I hated her not because she’d ever done anything bad but because I was made to hate her by endless amounts of trolling. Since filming my documentary for @bbcone and @bbcthree I’ve learned so much more than I ever expected to. Thanks to all the inspirational people I’ve met on this emotional journey, I now love the girl in this photo.”

Jesy added: “I’ve made this documentary for 2011 Jesy and for anyone who might be feeling like she did. I refused to speak about how I was feeling for so long. I was embarrassed and scared to. But I was so wrong to feel that way. "

The BBC One documentary references body image and mental health. Chris and Jesy began dating in January after the singer broke up with Harry James.

The couple have sinced moved in together last month, with Chris telling The Mirror; "Oour schedules aren’t too bad. We obviously live together now, which I think everyone knows. But we fit around it."

"I also want to get married. That’s something I’m looking forward to doing one day.” Gushing about Nelson, Chris recently revealed that  his favourite thing to do was “explore new places” with her.

"I’m happiest when I’m travelling around, exploring new places, with my other half not having a clue where we’re going,” he said.

“Being lost in a foreign country with my girlfriend makes me feel free and is when I’m at my happiest.” What a great couple, we simply have to stan.

Diversity is merely one issue in a large spectrum of problems perpetuated by ITV2's hit reality show Love Island.

It speaks volumes that Irish contestant Yewande Biala has already been racially abused by trolls only hours after she was announced as part of the cast.

The 23-year-old is among the 12 participants entering the Spanish villa for the summer, which sees the Islanders couple-up and compete for the cash prize.

The scientist, who is of Nigerian descent but is from Enfield in County Meath, has seen her friends leap to her defence after online bullies asked racist questions regarding her nationality.

One troll remarked that Biala is "far from Irish", while another said, "not Irish and never will be." *Rings bell* SHAME

Luckily, her fans leaped to her aid, saying, "“Born and raised here I’m pretty sure that makes her Irish.” Another wrote, "Just because she hasn’t got white skin doesn’t mean she’s not Irish. Small minded people.”

The Dubliner who is self-confessed unlucky-in-love has seen her Instagram followers increase from 3,000 to more than 21,000 in just one day.

"I don’t think there is a science to finding love and if there is then I have clearly been reading the wrong books," she said of her love life. Twitter supporters were over the moon to see representation onscreen.

One fan wrote: “Today has been a great day for black Irish women…A black Irish woman was elected to the Irish local council and a black Irish woman is gonna be on Love Island."

A Wakanda-level protection group has been made online: "Black Twitter listen the hell up. We are gonna support our queen Yewande Biala to the end no questions, no fuss.. it is what it is.”

“Officially announcing that I am apart of the Yewande Biala defence squad #LoveIsland," wrote another fan.

These ignorant scumbags who are targeting Biala are no match for her fan-base, and we are loving it. We stan an Irish queen.

Pink has had enough of social media trolls when it comes to her kids.

The singer, who regularly posts snaps of her two little ones, slammed the mean comments she received on a post of her young son.

The 39-year-old is mum to seven-year-old daughter Willow and two-year-old son Jameson.

She went on to say that she understood people's concerns but that they could be kinder in their responses.

After posting a snap of her son and daughter and a pelican that had wandered into their home, it was the fact her son had taken his nappy off that accused issue among her followers.

Pink responded with, ''I deleted it because you’re all f*cking disgusting. And now I’m turning off my comments and shaking my head at the state of social media and keyboard warriors, and the negativity that you bring to other people’s lives.''

She also received criticism after she posted a video of her son playing with cars and saying, "Ah, damn it."

She said, ''Some people were like: 'Nice language, I'm sure that came from you' and 'What kind of mother do you think you are?'''

She continued, ''And I understand people saying you need to be more careful because you are in the public eye and you should have thought of that – they're right. But there's a nice way to say that. There's a kind way to be online.''

She said the time was right to stop posting images of her daughter as she is getting older.

She said, ''It's probably time to pull her back from the world and let her live her best life."

We love Pink and her real posts about family life – but we applaud her choice to keep that part of her life private.

While Wes was on the show, he and Megan split, with many believing that Megan was not happy with Vanessa and Wes' budding friendship, after Megan posted to Instagram to chastise her for never introducing herself to Megan.

What should have been an amazing 21st birthday celebration for Modern Family actress turned sour, when body-shaming trolls attacked her weight-loss.

The gorgeous actress posted a number of photos from her birthday bash, alongside her beloved boyfriend Levi Meaden, and the comments quickly became focused on her physique.

The images show Winter wearing a plaid jumpsuit, showing off her beautiful body, but trolls claimed her slimmer figure was because of plastic surgery.

Comments have since been disabled on the series of snaps, after horrible social media users targeted her with hate. One said; "You’re losing your thick", referencing her famously curvy body.

"Healthier? She got work done to her face. She looked 'healthier' before,” one person wrote.

“Nothing wrong with being honest and telling her we liked her better before 'the change' she was so beautiful before she started chopping up her body and if me saying so helps one girl out there to feel beautiful who's thinking of surgery then its worth it,” another person added.

The judgemental, harsh words prompted a response from Ariel herself.

“I appreciate you wanting to help girls love themselves the way they are, but you are also kind of cutting me down,” she wrote.

“I also didn’t get plastic surgery. That is also not being supportive of women if you’re just assuming something about the way they look," she added. She's had to fight back the haters multiple times before:

She tweeted a few months ago: "My friend sent me the funniest article that's apparently in OK Magazine about my 'super strict diet' and how I only go out to eat if it's healthy food and I don't allow sugar in the house…I eat every carbohydrate possible…"

"I make chocolate chip cookies every week," she added. YES GURL.

Winter has long been the subject of criticism online, especially since her breast reduction surgery at the age of 17 and her choice of fashion.

“Yup… I dropped 30 bodies of water so fast…” she said. ”And yes!! My psychiatrist switched me from my previous antidepressant that didn’t work and made me gain weight, to coke/meth!!

Little Mix are known for lots of things – their catchy lyrics, girl power and super supportive friendships that they have with each other.

They have long been on the receiving end of criticism  for their revealing stage attire and it looks like they have had enough of it now.

The pop group, made up of Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson, got candid in an interview about their sexy outfits and how the backlash they get shows serious double standards.

The X Factor-winning group made the point that Olympic athlete's are never getting attacked by the media or trolls on social media for wearing skimpy clothes.

But they do, because they are dancing.

Many people have slammed what they wear when they perform on stage as ''provocative'' but the girls aren't planning on changing any time soon.

They compared what they wear to Olympians, who are also usually clad in similar costumes.

Jesy said, ''but I'm thinking, 'Do you say that to people at the Olympics, that they're too provocative?' No you don't, but because we're dancing, 'Oh, you're too sexy'."

Jade says that they are all feminists, but that doesn't have anything to do with how they dress.

She said, ''being a feminist doesn't mean that you have to wear a polo-neck jumper and a pair of trousers. Anyone can be a feminist. Feminism is just believing in equality.''

Lili Reinhart is so DONE with online bullies right now.

She has always been vocal about the huge amount of attention that has come her way since she joined the Riverdale cast, and not all of it is positive.

Some of her fans seem to have trouble realising that both Lili and her co-star and real-life boyfriend Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead Jones, are not actually their characters.

Since Shannon Purser shared an on-screen kiss with Jughead, all of the #Bughead army have been sending MASSIVE amounts of hate poor Shannon's way.

Shannon Purser has never been one to shy away from defending herself, like the true queen she is, and LIli Reinhart has her back.

The former Stranger Things star plays the character of Ethel on the hit Netflix show Riverdale, Wednesday's episode had fans up in arms about a plot-line that was totally out of the actress' hands.

Ethel told Jughead that he had to kiss her in order to get the “scripture” for G&G, so Jughead gave her a quick smooch and they both moved on. Sounds simple, doesn't it? Nope.

Twitter trolls proceeded to attack Shannon, calling her "fat" and "ugly" simply because her FICTIONAL character kissed Jughead. *Sighs*

The Sierra Burgess is a Loser actress allegedly posted a Spongebob meme accompanying the phrase: "All the stans who finally feel comfortable calling me fat/ugly now that Ethel has interfered with their ship.”

She then went on to add, "I’m not stressed about it, trust me. I just wonder what these people will think in like 10 yrs when they remember their twitter and realize they insulted and attacked real human beings for their character on a tv show…"

The Riverdale fanbase is passionate, to say the least, especially regarding relationships. At the end of the day, the show is fictional.

While Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse date IRL, what happens to their characters onscreen is totally unrelated, but some viewers are still angry AF.

Here's a lil video that the Riverdale cast made to teach 'Safe Shipping'. Watching characters fall in love and desperately wanting them to get together can be a draining process, but the actors themselves are here to teach you.. enjoy gals.

The Kardashian family are well used to getting their fair share of criticism and not-so-brilliant press.

However, when those mean comments from trolls online start to aim for their children, that's a whole other story.

This has been happening to Khloe recently, who has had to deal with her four-month-old daughter True, getting the brunt of angry people commenting on social media platforms.

Khloe uploaded a photo of True, her daughter with Cleveland Cavaliers' basketball player Tristan Thompsom, on Instagram recently and it faced a huge backlash.

The baby was pictured smiling as she sat sitting in a child-sized Bentley, which Khloe captioned, ''I’m not sure what’s cuter, the cute teddy bear driving the Bentley truck or True’s cheeks and smile.Thank you Auntie Kimora and family for the precious gift!''

Some people simply saw a happy baby surrounded by new toys, while others saw red and were quick to point the finger of judgement.

One wrote, ''MATERIALISMMMMMMM imbedded in her skull already.''

Another said, ''Just remember- kids don’t need crazy big toys to be happy!''

You don’t know this yet but you’re my best friend for all eternity!

A post shared by Khloé (@khloekardashian) on

Others couldn't see why people couldn't let it go, with one commenting, ''seriously people if you cannot accept the fact that it is a picture of a cute baby sitting in a gift that was given to her and her mom took a picture then scroll along…. Quit being so negative…..ACCEPT the simple fact cute baby nice picture!!!''

Khloe did hit back though, when one of her followers suggested that she should encourage her daughter to be "closer to God.''

To which Khloe had an articulate response.

''We read children's bible stories everyday and we say prayers every single night but you should not pass judgement either way. Why be so negative if you are a child of God? She's a baby who received a beautiful sweet gift and I was SOOO excited to put her in it and take a picture! I'm enjoying every single moment I can with my sweet angel! The angel GOD gave me!''

You may not be he biggest fan of the Kardashian's but you have to hand it to Khloe, she handled that perfectly.

Internet funny man, Cian Twomey, has gained quite a significant social media following thanks to his short sketches and overexaggerated impressions of his girlfriend, but it looks like not everyone is a fan.

The cork native is regularly bombarded with negative feedback, however it seems one troll just took it a step too far.

On Tuesday night, Cian posted a screenshot of messages he had received from someone by the name of Kevin.

The messages used vulgar language, were highly insensitive and even made reference to Cian's late father.

Now, while unacceptable at any age, this type of behaviour would be expected from teenager, but as it turns out, these messages came form a 45-year-old man.

Cian explained on his official Facebook page: “I thought it was a kid. Turns out it's a 45 year old man.”

Not content with just responding to the messages directly, Cian did “what any other person would do” – he told Kevin's mother.

He finished the post by saying: "Don't mess with me big boy, I'll go telling on you whether you're 12 or 45."

So, basically, unless you want to deal with the wrath of an angry Irish mammy, don't mess with Cian Twomey.
