TV

It's been 12 years since the last episode of Friends aired and a staggering 22 years since it first hit our TV screens, and yet it remains a steadfast favourite among millions.

While some sitcoms are incredibly quick to date, there's just something about Friends which makes it as relevant today as it was in the mid 90s, isn't there?

And while we still sing along to its iconic theme tune and get a frission of comfort from its title sequence, it seems there are six particular people who weren't as impressed by the show's lead-in.

Opening up about the programme which catapulted her into super-stardom, Jennifer Aniston revealed that she and her five co-stars weren't exactly bowled over by requests to dance in a fountain.

Speaking on The One Show recently, Jennifer said: "We felt it was a little… I don't know. Dancing in a pond? A fountain felt sort of odd."

The star, whose hairstyle during Friends revolutionised salon trips, admitted they agreed simply because they didn't have a say in the matter, confessing: "We did it because we were told to."

And while the idea of waltzing around a fountain for the heck of it didn't exactly appeal, there's no doubting Jennifer holds her decade on the show in very high regard.

Confessing to watching re-runs of the show, Jennifer told host Alex Jones: "I can't help it."

"First, I'm trying to remember which episode it is, and then half the time I'm saying to myself, 'I don't remember that,' You get sucked into the nostalgia of it."

We're with you on that one, Jen.

By the end of this week, we will have successfully ploughed through the upcoming episodes of Gilmore Girls and will almost certainly be back hunting for our next Netflix feast.

With this grim prediction in mind, we were delighted to come across the first trailer for the site’s Barack Obama biopic, Barry, which is due for release in mid-December.

Set in the Autumn of 1981, Barry tracks Obama’s junior year at Columbia University as the future 44th President of the United States grapples with many of the same social challenges he went on to face in office.

With the trailer suggesting Obama’s diverse ethnic background “makes him American”, Barry appears to offer a refreshing contrast of opinion to those expressed by the new President-elect on his journey to the White House.

Barry premieres on Netflix December 16.

As any fan of the Ellen show will know, a celebrity's dignity is often checked at the door with their coat.

Unlike other chat shows where a star can sit back and shoot the breeze about their upcoming movie, Ellen encourages her guests to take part in games which generally leaves them looking pretty ridiculous.

And this week, that celebrity was Emma Stone.

While appearing on the show to discuss La La Land, Emma took part in a dance-off with the host, and it seems like it really got the better of both of them at certain points.

From Emma forgetting the rules mere seconds after beginning the game to Ellen looking more sheepish than we're used to seeing her during certain dance moves, Last Dance with Emma Stone wasn't quite as slick as we expected.

And to be honest, it only made us love the pair of them even more.

While X Factor viewers took to social media in their droves to slam the show's reliance on novelty acts this weekend, the latest contestant to leave the show is much more matter-of-fact about the whole thing.

After losing out on a place in next week's show, Ryan Lawrie appeared to suggest that he knew he'd be heading home if he was to go up against controversial act, Honey G.

Appearing on both This Morning and Lorraine earlier today, the aspiring star took the results in his stride and suggested that the judging panel are more interested in the entertainment value of the show rather than the search for a star.

"I knew when I was with Honey G, I was going home," he admitted while reflecting on his time on the long-running ITV show.

Sounding unperturbed by the results, he added: "I just feel like the whole entertainment production vibe, that was what the judges wanted than me."

Unsurprisingly, when Ryan was asked his opinion of the aspiring rapper, he attempted to be diplomatic, but it sounds like he's as baffled by her success as the rest of us.

"Sometimes she’'ll be really posh and then she’ll be street talk," he revealed. "The accents change. She’s really smart and it's working really well."

"I personally think Honey G… Well, I like to use Keith Lemon as a good example. I think it's a character she has."

Admitting that he was sad to go but grateful to have taken part, he added: "It was a bit frustrating when you’re trying your hardest but I’m happy I got the opportunity."

So, Honey lives to rap another week…

Just hours after performing on Strictly Come Dancing last Saturday night, Gorka Marquez was the victim of an unprovoked attack in Blackpool.

According to emerging reports, the professional dancer, who was partnered with Tameka Empson, was with fellow dancers Alijaz Skorjanec and Neil Jones when he was attacked by a group of individuals.

Speaking to The Sun, a friend of the popular dancer explained: "Gorka and a few of the other dancers were heading to a nightclub to let their hair down after another brilliant show."

"All of a sudden this group of local louts came out of nowhere," the source continued. "One of them punched Gorka in the face and broke two of his teeth."

Confirming the incident, a spokesperson for the show said: "Gorka was sadly the victim of an unprovoked incident in Blackpool on Saturday night but he will be back in training this week and is looking forward to the group routine next weekend."

Stunned by the incident, Gorka's friend expressed disbelief, saying: "This was an entirely random and shocking attack on a group of friends simply trying to enjoy a night out."

According to a source close to Gorka, the dancer, who returned to London for dental treatment, is equally stunned by Saturday night's attack, saying: "He wasn't angry, he was just more shaken by the event."

It is understood Gorka will be returning to scheduled training in preparation for the show's Christmas special.

In a move which won't endear her to many Frankie Bridge fans, Wayne Bridge's ex, Vanessa Perroncel, may be on course to join him in the Australian jungle.

Vanessa, who had an affair with Wayne's team mate John Terry, is reportedly set to join the I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here cast as revenge for being kept in the dark about Wayne's decision to take part in the long-running ITV show.

According to reports, Vanessa, who shares a nine-year-old son with Wayne, is furious that she was misled when her former partner told her that rumours he was set to enter the jungle were nothing more than 'gossip'.

"Vanessa was offered the jungle six years ago and refused. When she texted Wayne to ask him if it was true or not, he told her to ignore the gossip," a source told The Sun.

Apparently, Vanessa is furious that her ex-partner accepted an offer of a reality TV show when she has made a habit of turning them down since news broke she had had an affair with John Terry.

"Now he'll be in the jungle for weeks and she wasn't even told," the insider added "It was only very late in the day that he did admit it. The gloves could come off – until now she's refused many shows."

Wayne is now married to Frankie of The Saturdays fame and shares two sons with the 27-year-old singer.

We wonder how Frankie will take the news…

If you've spent the last few weeks insisting that you and your mates would have been a better choice for Gogglebox Ireland than Paul and Paul from Youghal, then it's time to put your money where your mouth is.

With news emerging that TV3 have commissioned a second season of the hilarious Thursday night show, this is your chance to show the nation just how much craic you and the squad really are.

Giving the nation an insight into what the good folk behind the scenes are looking for, series producer, Simon Proctor, reminded us that potential candidates need to possess more than just a love of telly.

"Families, friends and partners can all be considered – two, three or four people who are already connected, so long as you are opinionated, funny, likeable, smart and have lots to say about what's on the box."

Oh, and if you happen to have a priest or nun in the family, now is the time to call in a favour.

"Top of our list would be a member of the clergy so, if anyone has an aunt who happens to be a nun who loves her telly or knows a perfect priest, we would love to hear from them!" Simon added.

So, if you think you were what was missing from the show's debut season, it's time to step up and email casting@kiteentertainment.com

See you on the box, ladies.

In late October, Netflix offered fans a brief glimpse at the highly anticipated Gilmore Girls reboot by releasing the first Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life squeal-inducing two minute trailer.

And now, just days before Rory, Lorelai and co return to small screens across the globe, the revered entertainment specialist has sent hearts racing with a SECOND GG preview.

The clip shows Rory struggling to deal with life as an unemployed college graduate, Lorelai questioning her relationship with Luke and Emily coming to terms with the loss of her husband.

But it’s not all doom and gloom, as in true Gilmore Girls fashion, the video is laced with girly humour, unorthodox advice and musings like Lorelai’s “I believe in a former life I was coffee”.  Classic.

Drake isn't like other rappers.

Unlike the rest of the crew, Drake wears his heart on his sleeve and doesn't care who knows it.

And if he's scared or creeped out, he's not going to try hide it if yesterday's upload to YouTube is anything to go by.

While appearing on David Blaine's Beyond Magic, Drake looked like he needed a right ol' sit-down for himself when the world-famous magician began doing what he does best  – messing with people's minds.

Mouthing 'I don't like it' over and over, Drake made his feelings for David's act pretty clear, and after you watch it, you'll probably see why.

While no stranger to controversy, Helen Woods is likely to have infuriated countless members of the public this week after she tore shreds off of Scarlett Moffatt in her latest column for The Daily Star.

Offering her opinion on the latest series of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, the former escort suggested we were having the wool pulled over our eyes by the popular contestant.

Slamming Scarlett, who has gained a loyal following since taking part in Gogglebox, Helen branded her 'fake as f*ck' before comparing her to a former Geordie Shore star.

"Jesus, those drag queen lashes and terrible fake tan. Transparent, just another Charlotte Crosby," wrote Helen.

"She tries soooo hard to be funny, when in fact she's funny putting zero thought into what she's saying."

"People who try too hard get on my tits, leave the comedy to the experts like Joel," Helen suggested.

Acknowledging the public's love for 26-year-old Scarlett, the former Big Brother star suggested we need to raise our standards.

"If she's what we get for a nation's sweetheart, we are even lower than wherever rock bottom is."

Well, thanks for that Helen.
