Niall Horan is no stranger to the Ellen De Generes studio set, and yet he still finds himself blindsided by the chat show's host unconventional approach to her interviews at times.

While appearing on the show this week, Niall fielded the standard questions; career, love-life and his relationship with the four guys he travelled the world with as part of One Direction.

Lulling him into a false sense of security, Ellen got Niall chatting about Liam, Louis and Harry before pulling a stunt which left the Mullingar-native shrieking in his chair.

"I honestly… eh… cardiac arrest nearly happened there," a distinctly uncomfortable-looking Niall told Ellen after having the bejaysus scared out of him in front of a live audience.

"Why is it not just straightforward on this show?" he asked Ellen who looked pretty damn proud of her 'Harry' stunt.

And if you suggest, for even a moment, that that didn't scare the life out of you, you're lying.

Oh, and one more thing while we have you! Don't forget that you can catch up on all your favourite shows for free for a month right here, so sign up now!

Over the course of the last ten years, the Kardashian family have come in for a wealth of criticism.

Accused of being talentless, fame-hungry socialites with little more to offer than sex tapes and scripted spats, the blended family have endured their fair share of condemnation.

Reflecting on their ascension to superstardom following the launch of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Khloé has penned an essay for Glamour which provides an insight into what it felt like being one of the most filmed families on the planet.

"In 2007 my sister Kourtney and I were living together in a townhouse in Calabasas where we grew up. " Khloé explained.

"We were running our clothing store, Dash, and our kids’ store, Smooch, right next to each other in the mall. We were there every day, and we had no other employees."

"We did everything ourselves, from the taxes to the housekeeping and inventory. We would take our 15-minute lunch break together and eat in the back."

Khloé remembers the family dinner which ultimately signalled the beginning of a whole new chapter in her family's story, writing: "At my mom’s house, we’d always have these big family dinners. Ryan Seacrest came to one and was like, “You guys are crazy. You need to be on TV'."

"My mom and my sister Kim wanted to do the show, but Kourtney and I were really against it. We were like, “No – we love our little life. We love what we’re doing.” But Ryan said, “We need the whole family or nobody at all.” So my mom kind of sold it to us as a great commercial for our stores. We were like, “Ugh, fine.”

The show's popularity intensified massively as the year progressed, with Khloé recalling how the family began by shooting just three days a week – minimal in comparison to the current schedule.

"Now our lives have evolved. We film six days a week, 12 to 18 hours a day, every single day. When you compile that much footage into 13 or 14 44-minute episodes, you can find a lot of drama."

And while this means that millions of viewers are kept glued as the seasons progress, the family often second-guess their decision to capture certain trials and tribulations.

"If you put a microscope over any family for 10 years, you’re bound to find cracks in the foundation," the 33-year-old reasons.

"Not every episode is juicy to us; it’s only juicy to the audience. Things like Kim’s robbery or Caitlyn’s transition? That’s the kind of stuff we wish we had never filmed," Khloé admits.

"We aren’t ever like, “Oooh! Let’s do this for season nine.” This is our life, and these are the things that happen. And it’s funny – when we decide not to shoot things, people feel slighted. But when we film too much, they’re like, “Oh, you never should have filmed that.” It’s a catch-22."

And yet despite these regrets,  Khloé continues to support her family's approach to the show, writing: "This is what we’ve chosen, and we’ve chosen to be as raw and honest as we can."

Earlier this year, Modern Family fans were delighted by the news that the hit sitcom had been given the go-ahead for two more series – however, it looks like that's all we'll we getting.

That's right, prepare to say goodbye to Phil's epic one liners and Manny's pockets of wisdom as the heart-warming comedy looks sets to end with the show's creators hinting that season 10 will be the last.

The beloved ABC show first hit our screens back in September 2009, and while the creator's original intention was to keep the show on air for as long as possible, they have now revealed that they are begining to play around with ideas as to how the story will come to an end.

Speaking to Deadline, co-creator Steve Levitan said: “Our original goal was to just stay on the air.”

“But after awhile we thought we may be in control [of] our own fate, and 10 sounded like a nice round number.”

When asked how the Modern Family will end, he said: "We haven’t had that exact conversation yet how we want to end the show episode-wise, those discussions will start in earnest as the writers start mapping out the second part of the current ninth season. We’ve talked about areas that we want to go and tonally what we want to do."

It's not yet clear how exactly the Emmy award winning series will conclude but creators have admitted that they want to finish the way they began – with a big family event.

For those of you who watched Big Little Lies earlier this year, there's no denying that Nicole Kidman put her heart and soul into the role of Celeste.

Regularly abused by her husband – both physically and emotionally –  the outwardly poised mother-of-two sets about concealing the domestic hell in which she is living.

And if you found it almost unbearable to watch, the Australian actress found it even more difficult to act.

Reflecting on the role which won her new-found acclaim, Nicole revealed that the nature of the scenes she portrayed with Alexander Skarsgard left her traumatised.

Referring to one particularly harrowing scene, she told The Hollywood Reporter: "I remember lying on the floor in the last episode, being in my underwear and having just been really thrown around."

"I just lay on the floor. I couldn't get up. I didn't want to get up. And I remember Jean-Marc [Vallée, the show's director] coming over and putting a towel over me in between the takes."

Nicole went on to explain that those feelings didn't disappear with the sound of the director's clapperboard.

"I just felt completely humiliated and devastated. And angry inside. I went home and I threw a rock through a glass door," she revealed.

Remembering a phone call she received that particular evening, her co-star, Reese Witherspoon, agreed that Nicole's role in the programme brought about a shift in her perspective.

"She says, "I've just done the craziest thing." Reese recalled.

"She got home from work and she had one of these horrible scenes and she goes, "I couldn't get into my hotel room so I threw a rock through the window…I don't do stuff like that.'"
