So, in case you've yet to hear, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting her third child with her husband, Prince William.

The royal couple, who are parents to four-year-old Prince George and two-year-old Princess Charlotte, were the subject of much excitement this morning when Kensington Palace announced the news on Twitter.

And while thousands upon thousands of people celebrated the announcement this morning, small sections of the internet were (unsurprisingly) all about the saltiness.

We mean, take a look for yourselves…

1. Ouch.

2. Right, so.

3. How do you really feel?

4. In fairness…

5. Ah, heir!

6. Fine, so.

7. Fair enough.

8. And what about us?

9. Hmmm…

Look, there's absolutely no denying that interest in the X Factor has waned in recent years.

At its height (we're looking at you, One Direction), the show was a Saturday night staple, but as the years have gone on, the public appear a little jaded by the whole format.

And with whispers of fixed auditions and behind-the-scenes record deals, TV critics have been quick to say that reality TV fans are looking elsewhere for their fix.

Yet despite the apparent dip in interest, Twitter was absolutely lit last night as the viewing public – and Louis Tomlinson – settled in for episode 1 of season 14.

From Kayleigh who wowed the judges to Grace Davies who had Nicole Scherzinger in tears, the calibre was pretty high for the first day of auditions.

And here are just a selection of tweets which sum up Simon, Sharon, Louis and Nicole's return to Saturday night entertainment…

1. Well, if Louis is on board…

 2. Preach.

 3. Ouch

 4. Time will tell…

5. We feel you.

6. She speaks the truth.

7. Sayin' it like it is

8. Touché

Over the course of her career, Katie Price has earned a 'no holds barred' reputation when it comes to her private life.

And while the public accept that much of her career is built on tell-all books and high-profile relationships, they are less comfortable by Katie's decision to speak openly about her children and wider family.

Illustrating the extent of their distaste, many Twitter users scorned Katie's recent decision to reveal that her mother was suffering from a terminal illness.

Speaking to The Sunday Mirror, the 39-year-old, who shares an incredibly close bond with her mother Amy, confirmed that her mother had been diagnosed with a terminal lung condition.

"My mum’s got something wrong with her lungs and she’s been told she hasn’t got very long to live," Katie explained.

After explaining that she intended to maintain a positive attitude for the sake of her mother, Katie revealed the details of her mother's recent hospital visit.

And sadly for the former Celebrity Big Brother contestant, the public is focussing more on Katie's candour than her mother's heartbreaking diagnosis.

Taking to Twitter to comment on the reports, one member of the public wrote: "She's awful selling out her mum's privacy but funny how she's more bothered about her stupid tour than spending time with her dying mum."

"Is there nothing sacred enough for her to keep private!! Unbelievable!" wrote another while someone else questioned: "Can't she keep anything private?"

Katie's reputation for selling the highs and lows of her private life to the press has resonated among Twitter users this weekend, with another remarking: "She will be selling her mums story to make more money now."

Thankfully, Katie's loyal army of followers have been on hand to defend her against the barrage of criticism she has received since announing the sad news.

We hate to drag it back up, but remember the last time you got up on your high horse, lashed out and then realised you were wrong?

Yes, it was absolutely hideous, and you made a right fool of yourself, but thankfully few people know the ins and outs of your mortification.

Unless you're a Twitter user named Bikergirl4Trump, that is.

Earlier this year, Bikergirl4Trump decided to pour scorn on the Obama administration in a move which has caught the attention of thousands of social media users this week.

Taking aim at the former First Lady, Michelle Obama, Bikergirl4Trump shared a photo of Michelle shoe-shopping in the days that followed Hurricane Katrina.

Except it wasn't Michelle Obama at all. In fact, Barack Obama wasn't President when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005.

Put simply, Bikergirl4Trump mistook Condoleezza Rice, who was National Security Advisor and Secretary of State during the Bush Administration, for the former First Lady.

Falling on the post with glee, one Twitter user highlighted the inaccuracy, writing "[Michelle] was a private citizen in another state and the picture isn't dated and it isn't of her. Unfathomable levels of ridiculousness."

"OMG you're adorable! You thought Obama was president during Katrina. *squeezes your cheek*," scoffed another.

Taking a more serious stance, another lamented: "We wish it was a joke, but these folks are just ignorant. There should be a test for voting."

Indeed.

Let's be honest, there's a typical Mighty Boosh viewer, and there's a typical Great British Bake Off viewer.

And if one were so inclined to create a Venn diagram, it's highly unlikely the two would intersect… until now, that is.

With Noel Fielding as one of the new presenters on the hugely popular baking programme, it's no surprise that Mighty Boosh fans have found themselves tuning in in order to get Old Gregg's take on a Bakewell tart.

And with the latest season of GBBO kicking off last night, Twitter was, understandably, awash with viewers desperately trying to reconcile the Mighty Boosh star they know and love with the mild-mannered presenter they saw before them.

It wasn't easy, but the great viewing public managed to come up with some pretty accurate comparisons while assessing Noel's performance alongside Paul Hollywood, Prue Leith and Sandi Toksvig.

And here are just a selection of some of the best…

1. We all have that mate.

 2. Been there.

3. He really did.

4. Anyone noticing a pattern?

5. Maybe he is.

6. Ash, you've nailed it.

7. Don't we all?

8. Everyone did.

9. Keep 'em coming, Noel.

10. In fairness, like.

If J.K Rowling has taught us anything during her reign as the undisputed queen of Twitter, it's that she has absolutely no time for negative comments.

Regardless of whether or not they have been directed at her, the Harry Potter author has no problem shutting down any sexist, racist or generally ignorant tweets that make it onto her radar.

In her latest attempt to rid the internet of negativity and uneducated statements, J.K scolded one Islamophobic user for his outrageous comment.

The authors response quickly went viral and haa garnered over 70,000 likes so far.

Her followers then decided to get in on the action and began tweeting some very interesting 'facts' of there own.

Meanwhile, the adaptation of J.K Rowling's crime books, written under pseudonym Robert Galbraith, will debut on BBC this evening.

Stike tells the story of private investigator, Cormoran Strike, who is hired to to determine whether a fashion model who fell from the window of her apartment did so by her own choice, or if foul-play was involved.

The mini-series is said to follow the book very closely, and even if you are yet to books, Strike will surely excite any J.K Rowling fan.

Strike – The Cuckoo's Calling airs on BBC One tonight at 21:05.

If you have been looking for your daily dose of amazing things on the internet, then settle back my friend, you have arrived.

Catcalling is one of those infuriating and sometimes terrifying components of the female experience that we would rather not have to deal with.

Do you ignore them? Yell at them to go away?

Author Zoë Quinn, or UnburntWitch on Twitter, had a slightly creepier and ultimately epic response to one street harasser.

While out one day after dental surgery, one man decided he needed to catcall Zoe, who was minding her own business.

Rather than ignore him, Zoe looked decided to open her mouth and allow a measure of post-surgery blood dribble from her mouth like she was some kind of demonic creature from the underworld.

We think it's pretty safe to say the guy probably thought twice about catcalling a woman again.

'Don't hassle someone who has three of their own back teeth in their pocket at the moment' she continued in another Tweet.

BRB, we're literally crying with laughter.

Whether she intended to make a splash or not, there's no denying that Sarah Harding's stint in the Celebrity Big Brother house has certainly caused ripples.

Support for the former Girls Aloud member started to wane within days of her entering the house, with Sarah's emotional outbursts doing little to curry favour with the viewing public.

And as the tide started to dramatically turn against the singer this week, her former band mater, Nadine Coyle, took to Twitter to share her thoughts on Sarah's time in the house.

After acknowledging that she is a little behind on the drama unfolding inside the house, Nadine was keen to share her perspective on Sarah.

"Inside info on Sarah, she is a very natural being. She dwells on of her feelings & acts on them. It is what makes her so unique," she wrote in a Twitter post.

Sounding incredibly protective of her former bandmate, Nadine added: "If I was there, no one would DARE utter a bad word to her!"

Nadine's stance appears to differ dramatically from other former band mate, Nicola Roberts, who recently made a referece to Sarah's scathing assessment of Fifth Harmony.

Taking to Instagram in the days that followed Sarah's less than complimetary opinion of the American band, Nicola wore a hat which read: "Women in Music are Dangerously Underestimated"

Nicola added the caption: "And that's why we should support each other."

As any Girls Aloud fan will know, Cheryl, Kimberley and Nicola shared a particularly close bond while Nadine and Sarah formed a tight friendship during their time in the group.

It's a sad truth. but the vast majority of women have found themselves in a position where they were unable to physically stop someone from inappropriately touching their body.

Whether it was because your hands were full carrying drinks or because the offending individual managed to slip away in a crowd, most of us have been touched without our permission, and given the circumstances, unable to do anything about it.

Having witnessed this first-hand during a recent concert in Holland, Architects frontman, Sam Carter, felt compelled to speak out, and condemn the actions of a man in his audience.

From the stage at the Lowlands Festival in Amsterdam, Sam spoke mid-set to explain that he was unsure whether to broach the topic, but ultimately felt that he couldn't continue until he had addressed what he had seen take place in the crowd.

The Brighton-based musician explained that he had seen a woman crowd-surfing when a fellow music fan chose to grope her when she was unable to defend herself.

"I've been going over in my f*cking mind about whether I should say something or not about what I just saw in that last song. And, do you know what, I am going to say it," Sam shouted from the stage.

"I saw a girl, a woman, crowd-surfing over here. I'm not going to point out who but I saw you grab at her boob," he continued.

Clearly furious on behalf of the woman, Sam shouted: "It is not your f*cking body. It is not your f*cking body, and you do not f*cking grab at someone. Not at my f*cking show."

Footage of Sam's response to the appalling incident has been uploaded to Twitter, with many social media users taking the opportunity to praise the singer for his condemnation.

"Thank you for saying something, it makes me so happy to see that people are talking about this issue instead of ignoring it," wrote one

"I started sneaking into shows in high school and have seen countless bands. This is the FIRST I've heard a band call out this obvious problem," added another.

"Thank you. It's so important that bands make it clear that they will not tolerate abuse at their gigs," remarked another Twitter user.

It's fair to say that the press and public have taken a real shine to Australian actress, Margot Robbie, in recent years,

Talented, beautiful, and down to earth, there's not much to dislike about the 27-year-old actress, who went from the small screen to the silver screen in what seemed like the blink of an eye

While there's little doubt that the actress's talent speaks for itself, Margot who played Naomi Lapaglia in The Wolf of Wall Street and Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, is often the subject of headines which focus more on her appearance than her latest role.

Given the narrative that surrounds her, it's perhaps no real surprise that the public are utterly fascinated by a transformation Margot underwent for her role as Queen Elizabeth I.

With the help of a bald cap, ginger wig and some very skilled make-up artistry, Margot is almost unrecognisable from the blonde, sun-kissed actress we know and love.

Margot will be starring opposite our very own Saoirse Ronan in the film which is currently being shot in England and Scotland.

The movie will document the reign of the Mary, Queen of Scots, who was crowned queen before she reached her first birthday in 1542.

As race relations in America reach a tumultuous point, with white nationist rallies on the streets and the POTUS Donald Trump saying there are 'very fine' people among them, we could probably all use a little humour.

Which is why we were delighted to spot this gem of a video as we were scrolling through Twitter.

Uploaded by user RiotWomenn, the video shows a white nationist march walking through a US town.

In a twist, a tuba player is following the marchers, playing hilarious 'lumbering cartoon music' as they go.

The video is definitely ridiculing the marchers, and the whole thing is comical.

The tuba player has come forward online as Matt Buck, and we have to applaud him for making us laugh.

The talented tuba player starts off playing the plodding cartoon music, but then switches to Ride of the Valkeries.

We dare you not to lol.

As publications like The Economist denounce the President of the United States for his lacklustre reaction to racial tension across the United States, social media has acted as a platform for members of the public to discuss the narrative surrounding the various acts of violence being perpetrated across America.

As people from varying political backgrounds and affiliations argue back and forth over the difference between 'black pride' and 'white pride', one particular explanation has stood out among countless others, with hundreds of thousands of Twitter users sharing it online.

"A common and seemingly reasonable argument for white pride or white nationalism is "why can't I be proud of my culture?" the post began.

"Well, you can," it continued. "Always have been able to."

"We have Irish pride celebrations, we have German drinking festivals, we have Serbian food festivals. Any European culture you can of has multiple organisations in North America dedicated to taking pride in their heritage and no one gives them sh*t."

"But, you see, when you start talking "white pride", that's not a culture," the post explained. "That's a skin colour. There is no white culture, never was. There is no pan-European culture, never was. Europe is a continent, not a culture or ethnicity."

"Now, some of you are probably about to go "But wait! Black pride! How is that okay?" Well, easy. Go find a black person and ask them if their ancestors were slaves."

Reminding social media users that black people were enslaved and had their cultures taken from them, the writer says: "They can't have Liberian pride or Congolese pride, or 'insert African country' pride because they have no f*cking idea where their ancestors came from other than the broad region of West Africa."

"Meanwhile us white people can often trace our ancestors to specific cities and regions." the writer continues. "I can trace my mother's maiden name to a single f*cking village in Ireland. I know where I come from. I don't have white culture, I have Irish culture."

"So, that's why white pride makes you an asshole, but black pride actually makes sense."

The post has been shared widely across social media over the course of the last 24 hours.
