In an industry utterly obsessed with body image, it's hardly surprising that the incessant scrutiny young actresses find themselves under on a daily basis can eventually take its toll.

Having clearly had her fill of ill-advised remarks pertaining to her appearance, Sarah Hyland decided to address the narrative before highlighting the misconceptions which have been made in relation to her size.

I hear all the kids are wearing chokers now a days. #criticschoiceawards

The 26-year-old Modern Family star took to Twitter yesterday to both silence her critics and provide her fans with an insight into the struggles she has endured over the last 12 months.

"I'd like to address something that has not only been brought up on Twitter, but has been HEAVILY discussed by all of you in my Instagram comments. That something is my weight."

Acknowledging that she generally seeks to ignore the dialogue, Sarah admitted that she felt compelled to address it this time around.

"Here goes… I haven't had the greatest year. Maybe one day I'll talk about it but for now I'd like my privacy. I will say this year has brought a lot of changes and with that physical changes.I have been told that I can't work out. Which for me is very upsetting."

Devastated that she has been prevented from training, Sarah continued: "I am not a fan of 'being skinny'".

Having been told to 'eat a burger' and that her 'head was bigger than her body', Sarah said she agreed with her critics, writing: "No one's head should be bigger than their body but considering I've basically been put on bed rest for the past few months, I've lost a lot of muscle mass."

While Sarah is determined to return to full health, she insists that she refuses to let the public's insensitive remarks get to her, writing: "I know that when I get clearance, I will be able to get back to the strong, lean and fabulous self I know I can be."

And in a move which illustrates Sarah's understanding of her vulnerability in the public eye, she concluded by writing: "My self confidence is not rendered from your comments."

"I will always be too fat. I will always be too skinny. I will never have enough curves to be called a real woman, And I will always be a slut for wearing a push up bra."

When you don't feel well you're supposed to post vain pictures of yourself correct?

Finishing by encouraging her fans to err on the side of positivity, she wrote: "Smile, Laugh, Love, Be happy. Support your peers. Love. Work hard. Be confident. Love."

Sarah's post has been inundated with supportive comments from fans who encouraged the actress to stay positive in spite of her poor health.

"You're such an inspiration! Sending positive vibes your way and a quick recovery," wrote one.

Sarah, who rose to fame playing Hayley Dunphy in the smash hit sitcom, had a kidney transplant in 2012.

It's safe to say Game of Thrones has a pretty hardcore fanbase.

The hugely popular fantasy series has captivated audiences across the globe, and the latest trailer has left fans shook.

The seventh season returns this July and according to the trailer, ''The great war is here.''

In previous years, the series has kicked off around April, but this year fans must wait until mid summer to get their fix.

The penultimate season will contain just seven episodes and will feature a cameo appearance from Ed Sheeran.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, show-runner, Davis Beniff said, “For a long time we’ve been talking about ‘the wars to come’.”

“Well, that war is pretty much here. So it’s really about trying to find a way to make the storytelling work without feeling like we’re rushing it.”

The seventh season of Game of Thrones begins on July 16.

Here we go again.

First it was the dress, then it was the flip-flops and now there's another ambiguous photo dividing opinion online.

Twitter users have entered a huge debate over the background of the photo below.

Some are saying it's a river, while others are adamant it's a wall.

What do you think?

We can see where the confusion lies.

Either a river or wall would fit nicely into the outdoor picnic scene but the angle makes it difficult to determine.

And now, just like every optical illusion – everybody's got an opinion.

Some even got technical about it.

After a brief office poll, we here at SHEmazing HQ are team wall all the way.

Let's face it, there are few among us who haven't endured a woeful date.

Whether it was a blind date, a first date or 'not even sure if this is a date' date, navigating the scenario as it unfolds can be agonising at best and soul-destroying at worst.

Thankfully, Twitter knows how to own their own hideous experiences, and have no qualms about sharing them with the wider world.

And here are just some of our favourites…

Ah, now.

Of course, he was.

Sorry, what?

No, he did NOT.

It's important to stay informed.

He's probably just locked in, babes.

The classic 'no offence' move.

We can't believe it either.

It's been six years since the world watched Pippa Middleton's older sister make her way up the aisle at Westminister Abbey to marry Prince William.

And while Pippa made an impact all of her own the day she acted as bridesmaid to Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, the 33-year-old will take centre stage as the bride at her own wedding to James Matthews later today.

Much has been made about Pippa's big day; from the guest list to her bridal party, but like anything to do with the royal family and the plethora of high-profile names contained within its inner circle, not everyone is enthused by the constant coverage.

And as a result, Twitter is, unsurprisingly, lit this morning, with some members of the public only dying to share in the excitement and others… well… not so much.

Meet Feminista Jones.

The author, activist and social-worker can often be found using her social media platform to discuss women’s issues, and her latest Tweet has prompted some hilarious responses.

Last Friday, she jokingly challenged her followers "to piss off a man today. Tell him you agree with his compliment of you."

Speaking to BuzzFeed News, Feminista revealed that she felt compelled to talk about the issue in a "tongue-in-cheek" fashion after hearing other women’s stories and experiencing the dynamic in her own life.

"It's not a new idea, but in my own experience when [a man] complimented me and I say, 'I agree,' they get upset."

She added, "It’s the idea that they bestow the compliment on you, and you’re not supposed to be aware of it."

"Generally we’re taught that we’re not supposed to compliment ourselves," she explained.

"When a women does that, she needs to be humble."

After the tweet was posted, Feminista was almost immediately inundated with replies from woman looking to share their own experiences.

However, Jones did acknowledge that this does not apply to all men.

"This is my blanket commentary: Just because you don’t do it or you don’t see it being done, doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen" she said.

"When men go, 'Not all men,' they make it about 'I’ve never seen it, I've never done it…so it can’t be true.'”

"I’m saying to listen to what women are saying — try to understand what’s going of."

After 53 years or trying, Portugal finally came out on top for the first time with Salvador Sobral's performance of Amar Pelos Dois.

Unfortunately, Ireland failed to secure a place in the Eurovision Final last night.

As expected, Irish folk gathered to watch the events unfold on screen, and while the show was amazing, the real action was all happening on Twitter.

With disappointment, anguish, and plenty of Father Ted references, here are some of the best reactions to Ireland's Eurovision bid:

Dare we say the One Direction split was a blessing in disguise?

The guys have all gone solo, and to be honest, they're putting out some seriously quality content.

4 down, 1 to go. It's finally time for Liam to show us what he's been working on.

The 23-year-old may still be adjusting to his life as a daddy, but that doesn't mean his career has stopped.

Earlier today, the star took to Twitter posted a five second teaser clip, in which we see a scantily clad Liam bopping along to the beats of what fans are assuming is his new single.

According to recent reports, Liam recruited hit-maker, Ed Sheeran to co-write the track.

So basically, it's a guaranteed banger.

For many women, navigating leers and catcalls is part and parcel of daily life, and while the vast majority are regrettably left to deal with harassment by themselves, we'd like to assume that if they do reach out for assistance, they will be properly supported.

However, one woman's recent encounter on public transport reminded Twitter users that unfortunately this isn't the case.

After enduring a particularly distressing encounter with a man who began 'rubbing his crotch' after she deflected his advances on a bus, Nathalie Gordon left her seat and approached the bus driver for assistance.

Frightened she explained what had happened to the driver, telling Twitter users: "I tell him that a man is rubbing himself on the bus. The driver, a man, says 'he probably isn't – sit somewhere else'."

Nathalie, understandably stunned by the driver's disregard, replied: "Remove him from the bus, call the police – I don't care'."

And in a move which has caused uproar on Twitter since Nathalie shared an insight into her experience, the driver replied: "What do you expect me to do? You're a pretty girl, what do you expect?"

In a series of tweets which have gone viral since their upload, Nathalie laid out, in no uncertain terms, exactly what she wanted from the driver in that situation.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter users have responded in their droves since Nathalie took to the website to voice her concerns, with hundreds of women sharing similar experiences online.

"If you ever see me on public transport or anywhere in London and you feel vulnerable, find a way to tell me & I promise I'll stand with you," Nathalie wrote in response to her supporters.

We love a good old sandwich, and you can't beat combos such as ham and cheese or chicken and stuffing. Yum.

So, when journalist, Chris Deerin, came across a rather odd sandwich, he decided to post it on Twitter with the caption, "name a less edible sandwich. I'll wait."

The double cheese, onion and salad baguette does sound (and look) quite nasty, however the people of Twitter delivered when it came to naming other rotten sambo fillings.

We're honestly gagging at some of these:
