She’s never been one to hide her opinions, but last night Harry Potter creator JK Rowling offered America the best summary of its ongoing presidential race.

Taking to Twitter to comment on Hillary Clinton’s latest debate with Donald Trump, the author wrote: “Well, there you have it.  A highly intelligent, experienced woman just debated a giant orange Twitter egg.  Your move, America. #debate.”

Naturally social media users are loving the 51-year-old’s wit, as in the 13 hours since it was posted, the tweet has received more than 100,000 likes and has been retweeted 45,000 times.

In celebration of the statement, one user wrote: “They didn’t discuss climate change but JK Rowling SKEWERED Donald Trump on Twitter so everything’ll be fine.”

While another said: “JK Rowling just called Donald Trump an egg.  What a moment in history.”

Our thoughts exactly.

As Ariana Grande questions her decision to join Ellen for Halloween, her Irish fans are celebrating their inclusion in her upcoming European tour.

This morning, the Side To Side singer took to Twitter to reveal when and where she’ll be gigging in Europe next year and, much to her fans’ delight, Ireland made the cut.

As part of the 18 city tour, the former Disney star will play Dublin’s 3 Arena on May 20 2017.

While ticket sale information has yet to be announced, the star’s Irish fans are already sharing their excitement online.

Remember the last time you managed to exert a little self-control and your period magically did everything you wanted?

No? Yeah, us neither.

And that's because no matter how much women might wish they had more control over their monthly cycle, once it arrives we're all basically along for the ride.

But as far as one lad from Essex is concerned, us women need a lesson or two in self control before we start demanding an end to tampon tax.

In an analogy which boggles the mind, 19-year-old Ryan Williams took to Twitter to compare menstruation to urination, and insists women should 'control their bladders'.

Yeah Ryan, because that makes complete sense.

In a move which suggests Ryan was asleep under the desk during Biology lessons, the helpful youngster suggested he thought they was a connection between a woman's bladder and her ability to control her need for sanitary products.

Unsurprisingly, Ryan has experienced more than a little pushback from men and women alike who were quick to provide him with a few handy anatomy lessons.

Sending Ryan some handy links, one Twitter user wrote: "Some information – I've chosen a version aimed a kids so you'll understand."

However, it looked like Ryan's pontificating may have had the desired effect on one woman, who wrote: "But what if it is how it works? What if we have just been thinking about this all wrong with our girl brains?"

She's right, you know. Damn it Ryan, you may just be onto something.

With Zayn penning an autobiography, Harry turning to acting and Niall releasing his first individual single, it was only a matter of time before Liam stepped forward with his post One D plans.

Having just signed a lucrative record deal with American label Republic Records, the 23-year-old singer took to Twitter to announce his excitement.

But as Liam celebrated the launch of his solo career, his fans started celebrating something else altogether.

I miss you!…the things you make me do home soon!

Last night, the X Factor star became a trending topic on Twitter after writing: “Amazing to have signed to @RepublicRecords I am celebrating as I tweet thank you so much for accepting me to your roster of amazing artists.”

Initially fans started the hashtag “CongratsLiam” in response to the news, but as the tag gained momentum those who were a little late to the conversation thought followers were celebrating the confirmation of rumours that Liam is about to become a dad – something which has never been clarified by the star or his partner, Cheryl.

The situation quickly generated Twitter gold as users eventually figured out that “Chiam” had not shared any baby news *sadface*.

We're only two weeks in, and it looks like Lord Sugar isn't the only one who can barely believe this year's Apprentice contestants have made it as far as they have in life.

Following last night's episode which saw teams, Titan and Nebular, go head to head in an advertising campaign for Japanese jeans, Twitter went into complete overdrive.

From Jessica's tearful meltdown to Karthik's nonstop ranting, this year's contestants have a long way to go before they've proven they're up to the task.

And with Lord Sugar looking like he'd be more than happy to pull the plug on the whole thing with every passing moment, this year's series is definitely one of the most tense to date.

Thankfully however, the episode – which saw neither team win – was peppered with classic one-liners, woeful puns and individuals you wouldn't leave in charge of a balloon, let alone a quarter of a mill investment.

Twitter, take it away.

As an increasing number of sources confirm that she is struggling to cope after her armed robbery ordeal, Kim Kardashian West has made a fleeting return to social media.

The reality star – who was bound and gagged in a luxury apartment during Paris Fashion Week – has reportedly logged into Twitter to unfollow 13 people.

According to The Sun, the mother of two’s fans began to share encouraging messages with her as she reduced her “following” list to 108 people.

The peculiar move comes as insiders claim the 35-year-old remains “paranoid” after the attack which saw her lose $10 million worth of jewellery.

While Kim continues to keep a low profile, yesterday TMZ reported that she has filed a lawsuit against a media outlet who suggested she had lied about aspects of the robbery.

Former Destiny’s Child star LaTavia Roberson fell head first into an awkward moment last night after a tweet from her account left people wondering who she is.

The 34-year-old Texan – who was one of the band’s original members – used Twitter to thank fans on behalf of herself, Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams and LeToya Luckett for their support, but was quickly met with questions surrounding her identity.

The actress wrote: “I just wanna say from Myself @KELLYROWLAND @Beyonce @LeToyaLuckett & @RealMichelleW we have the best fans individually and collectively WE [heart] U.”

After the message got fans wondering what LaTavia’s role in Destiny’s Child actually was, the mother jumped on the defensive.

Responding to a tweet asking her who she is, the singer wrote: “LaTavia Marie Roberson founding member of the ICONIC girl group Destiny’s Child.”

When another site user criticised her for staying in the band for “5 minutes”, LaTavia fired back: “Naw I was in there long enough to get to 2 Grammys.”

And when branded as the “queen of not singing leads”, the star bragged about receiving royalties on DC’s music.

“No need to sing lead when you wrote on the album #Royalties #checkTHAT,” she quipped.

Sadly, all but the original tweet have since been deleted.

Just a few days after she sent Instagram into a tailspin with a series of nude shots, Jodie Marsh has taken to Twitter to announce she has had a run-in with the law.

The fitness enthusiast, who split from her husband of eight months last April, has been busy retweeting reports that she has been arrested for harassment.

Without offering her fans and followers any specific details, the 37-year-old tweeted: "I'm not allowed to comment sadly but if you see @KTSTalentMgt – he is my spokesperson from now on…."

Considering she couldn't provide her followers with an insight into the circumstances which led to her arrest, you'd be forgiven for thinking the former glamour model might lay low, but instead appeared to boast about the incident.

"You thought I was a bad girl cos I'm covered in tattoos and ride Harleys….. now I'm the ULTIMATE bad girl #arrested." she tweeted.

"To sum up; I have been arrested and charged with "harassment" – see @KTSTalentMgt for details… I'm a very bad girl…."

Fans of the star wasted no time throwing shade at Jodie's ex, James Placido, with one writing: "Sorry to read about the stuff you are going through. It is a shame how your Ex behaves."

"Wow – your well rid of him. You deserve so much better x," added another.

Commenting on the harassment charges, Jodie's management said: "Jodie strenuously denies these allegations and we think that they are utterly ridiculous."

Hmmm… we wonder how this one will play out.

A quick glance a Katy Perry’s Twitter profile confirms that the singer is well and truly “with her”, but it’s her ability to demolish Hillary Clinton’s opponent in two words that’s got everyone’s attention.

Amid the stream of ridiculous statements which flowed so naturally from Donald Trump’s mouth during Sunday night’s presidential debate was a boast about his 25 million strong social media following.

“Tweeting happens to be a modern day form of communication, you can like it or not like it,” said the potential president.

“Between Facebook and Twitter, I happen to have almost 25 million people, it’s a very effective way of communication.”

Choosing to highlight Trump’s childishness, one NBC journalist tweeted: “They say the best way to appear Presidential is bragging about your Twitter follower count.”

To which Katy – who just happens to be the most popular person on Twitter with more than 93 million followers – responded: “Measly numbers.”

The Roar star polished off the now viral statement with a nail varnish emoji.

Bravo!

Four years ago, the United Nations General Assembly declared October 11th the International Day of the Girl, and did so in order to recognise the unique challenges which 1.1. billion girls around the world face on a daily basis.

From being denied education to enduring forced marriages, girls – from conception through to adulthood – face considerable obstacles, and it is the United Nation's aim to counteract the disadvantages experienced by girls on a global scale.

Commenting on the motivation behind it, they called it an "investment in realising the power of adolescent girls and promises a more equitable and prosperous future,"

From celebrating daughters, sisters and mothers, Twitter is fully behind them on this one.

When it comes to the Kardashian / Jenner sisters, it's the youngest who seems to get the most attention when it comes to her personal style.

By switching up her hair and wardrobe on a regular basis, Kylie comes in for the most criticism, with many of her followers suggesting she cheapens herself with the looks she opts for.

Kylie, however, appears more than able to deflect criticism and ignore the haters, but it looks like a recent tweet hit a nerve with the cosmetic queen.

Deciding to disparage the star with an unsettling comparison this week, one Twitter user wrote: "Kylie Jenner looks like a 14-year-old prostitute."

Making the decision to respond to her critic, Kylie hit back with a tongue-in-cheek response which has gained considerable traction on the site.

"IDK, I feel like I look like a 19-year-old prostitute," she replied in a post which has been liked more than 130,000 times since its upload last night.

Goading the original tweeter, social media users wasted no time telling him he had been 'ended' by the young star while many more were eager to remind others that Kylie had partially agreed with her critic.

"How? By calling herself a prostitute? Lmao," wrote one while another hit back, writing: "Kylie is savage and I like it for once."

"I'm cracking up that she even answered," added another.

We're not sure that there are any real winners in this exchange…

They may not be quite as popular as they were back in 2002, but it looks like Nickleback are up there with James Blunt when it comes to hitting back at online haters.

The Canadian rockers, who performed in Dublin over the weekend, decided they weren't going to take a particularly nasty dig from English duo, Royal Blood, lying down.

And in fairness to them, it was a pretty slick comeback.

After the Brighton-based duo decided to compare the two American presidential candidates to the How You Remind Me crooners last Friday, the lads hit back and pretty much slayed.

Calling the lads out on their snarkiness, Chad and the crew replied: "NIckelback jokes are like @royalblooduk, they were a lot cooler a couple years ago. Don't drink and tweet fellas. Stay safe. XO"

And it looks like Twitter users were on Nickelback's side when it came to this, with one writing: "THANKS GUYS BECAUSE INSULTING NICKELBACK IS HOW YOU RELEASE AN ALBUM."

"Maybe fist start selling an album or two before attacking another band. #Nickelback rocks btw…y'all dus suck #bye."
