Since last night, the hashtag #FreedomForKesha has been trending worldwide, and some people are curious as to why exactly that happened.

Yes, I'm obviously talking about Kesha (that's what the post is titled and that's why you clicked lol)... BUT SERIOUSLY, our lack of Kesha is problematic.

Kesha has not released any new music since 2012.

Although at the time aside from the single Die Young, her album didn’t appear to make much of an impact in the first place. This was largely viewed as a result of her working with producer Dr. Luke.

Fans even set up a petition that aimed to release the singer from her contract with the producer as he was holding her back creatively. That year Kesha told Rolling Stone:

“What’s been put out as singles have just perpetuated a particular image that may or may not be entirely accurate.”

Two years later Kesha went to a rehab facility in order to recover from an eating disorder. Her mother later revealed on Twitter that her daughter was suffering from bulimia and Dr Luke was part of the problem.

In October 2014, Kesha filed a law suit against the producer in order to be released from her contract with him. The suit also alleged that she suffered “mental manipulation, emotional abuse and sexual assault” while working with Dr Luke.

He claimed she was trying to extort him and since then Kesha has been stuck in a legal battle unable to release any music. Court documents released this week had her attorneys saying that she is facing a “point of no return.”

Since then her fans have taken over social media in efforts to show their solidarity with Kesha.

Dr. Luke’s spokesperson said:

“As long as she continues to stand by her false claims of abuse against Dr. Luke and remains in breach of her contracts, he will continue to protect his professional and personal reputation.”

In case you missed it today, the Irish rugby team took on Canada in Cardiff the first of their Rugby World Cup matches.

The result was pretty widely expected but that didn't stop either side from putting in an impressive performance.

The boys in green came out victorious though scoring seven tries from seven different players: Seán O'Brien, Iain Henderson and Johnny Sexton and all scored in the first half. Meanwhile, Seán Cronin, Rob Kearney, Jared Payne and Dave Kearney then added to the full-time score of 50-7.

Naturally, Twitter had quite a day of activity as supporters took to the social media platform to express their satisfaction with the win:

We can only imagine these lads are going to be all about the celebrations:

Pretty much all of Bressie's tweets were on point:

Oh, but the Canadians were less than pleased:

In case you thought everyone was having a great time though, there was also Gordon D'Arcy. He lost a bet with his wife, model Aoife Cogan.

It might be time for Ian Somerhalder to change his Twitter password.

The Vampire Diaries actor's Twitter account was hacked yesterday and the hacker embarrassingly confessed Ian's love for former flame Nina Dobrev.

Awkward! We're not sure Ian's new wife, Nikki would be too happy about that.

The man (or woman) tweeted for about 20 minutes before writing, "I am so sorry," and deleting the tweets.

When the hacker first revealed that he seized the account, he or she asked followers, "who even is ian somerhalder."

The illegal computer operator then went on to praise the US TV show, Mr. Robot – which coincidentally (or not) is about a hacker.

The person in question then asked Ian's fans to get them get in contact with the TV star.

They later idenified themself as @clou9nin3, but it was deactivated earlier today.

Here's a quick look at the tweets:

He or she also spoke to other followers throughout their time on Ian's Twitter.

In July Cara Delevingne had a very awkward moment when she was on the promotional trail for her film Paper Towns. The model-turned-actress was interviewed by anchors for Good Day Sacramento when things took a turn for the worst.

Things got off to a rocky start when one of the anchors introduced her as 'Carla', and then just went downhill for there.

Her signature sarcasm and humour didn't translate to the American hosts and by the end they asked if the star was "exhausted", Her reply: "Perhaps it's just you," led to quite a social media stir. Once the interview ended the hosts continued to slate Cara with comments such as:

"You make $5m for six weeks of work, you can pretend to talk to Good Day Sacramento with some oomph."

We thought that everyone had moved on from the incident by now but it seems that at least one celeb still had something to add to the misadventure.

Richard Madden, AKA Robb Stark from Game Of Thrones, made reference to the ordeal when interviewed by Style magazine:

"It made her seem ungrateful. It showed her age. For Cinderella I did 6 weeks of those interviews."

Ouch, don't hold back Richard. He added:

"If you're not capable of doing that gracefully then don't do it."

Cara did not take the criticism lightly and took to social media to sound off:

Fans reacted expertly:

Oh and then Richard had to come back and try to diffuse the situation:

When will they ever learn?

As of yesterday Queen Elizabeth II became Britain’s longest reigning monarch. She beat Queen Victoria to the title who held the record at 63 years, 7 months, 2 days, 16 hours and 23 minutes.

Elizabeth, 89, has said that this achievement was not something she “had ever aspired to”.

She opened a new railway line in Scotland yesterday and only mentioned the honour briefly in her speech as she thanked the crowd for welcoming her.

Meanwhile, internet users had much more time to spend marking the historic occasion. As usual, they gave their very best reactions.

There was many Game of Thrones references, some of which were executed perfectly:

They gave us a quick rundown of her schedule for the week:

There was also one or two dodgy puns, because of course:

Of course the corgis then had to do something to mark their owners big day. Mashable hosted a tea party for the furry royals

Forecasters have asked the public to help them come up with names for storms that are due to hit Ireland sometime in the autumn and forthcoming winter.

Met Éireann, and the UK Met Office, reached out to twitter users to provide them with some suggestions for new names to attach to the storms. As you can imagine, once people got wind of the #nameourstorms hastag, the puns started come in rapidly.

We imagine it could be because some of our storms can be a touch more tranquil than the tropical monsoons we see abroad, but there were plenty of users out there who couldn’t wait to have some fun with the idea.

We have to admit we are looking forward to seeing who made the cute for this one.

While we have all considered at some point or another a nice cup of coffee to get us over that post-dinner slump, we didn’t exactly envision this as the way forward.

As part of an in-store and outdoor advertising campaign, Sainsbury’s is suggesting that customers add coffee to their spaghetti bolognese.

Many customers have not taken this news well. Many had serious questions concerning quantity, quality and just general coffee to water ratios.

Then there were a few foodies who didn’t understand all of the fuss.

There's always one…

Buzzfeed spoke to Sainsbury’s to clear up some confusion and make sure they are actually advocating such a recipe. They are, and they had an interesting explanation.

“The coffee adds a underlying depth of flavour that helps to balance the sweetness of the tomato-based ragu.”

They also added that it is not the first time sweet and savoury have collided on our dinner plates:

“Rather like adding chocolate to chilli con carne, which is another of our recommended twists – although that one is a little better known.”

If you are in any way intrigued, then make sure you check this video for a full explanation:

The University Challenge generally keeps things relatively conservative when it comes to fashion.

There tends to be plenty of warm looking jumpers and chinos, alongside the requisite shirts. Alast night however, a contestant came along who really shook things up for viewers.

The team from King’s College Cambridge was comprised of Lin, Mariani, Smith and Shah. Shah, had many viewers confused as whether they were watching an bunch of intellects show off their giant brains, or Shah introduce his new hip-hip album.

With his vest and gold chains, Shah certainly raised the fashion stakes for the other contestants.

Social media users just couldn’t help themselves but have a laugh at what an unusual sight it was indeed.

That swag though…

Some people in life want nothing to change – ever.

So when One Direction's heart throb Harry Styles stepped out on stage with straight hair, clearly, the world went mental.

The Twitter world that is.

We all remember Harry as the adorable, curly-haired kid when he first auditioned for The X Factor

And even as his hair has grown over the years, it has still remained in one wavy format or another.

But when he played a show in Detroit, Michigan recently, Harry decided to let his hair run free. Very free that is, and very straight.

Twitter erupted with questions on whether he used a straightener? Is it just wet and droopy? Or has Harry been curling his hair THE WHOLE TIME?!

No one knows.

Some fans became pretty obsessed about it though and tweeted to their hearts content.

Some fans however, were not so keen.

The big weekend is finally here; Electric Picnic has begun. Unfortunately not everyone could make the trek to Stradbally for all the antics.

The FOMO is string this weekend, it seems that no matter where you look there are constant reminders of all the musical fun people are having.

Comedian Chris Williams was given charge of the Ireland Twitter account today and came up with a genius and hilarious  tactic to help ease the pain for those not at the festival this weekend.

#EPathome was trending on Irish twitter for most of this afternoon. We rounded up some of the best tweets to give you a good laugh so you don’t feel too bad about missing out on the festival craic.

Basically, the idea behind the trend was to come up with suggestions of how folks stuck at home could make themselves feel like they were at Electric Picnic with everyone else:

There was some gems:

The people at The Daily Edge were really enjoying the challenge

She has long been known for being one of Hollywood’s most outspoken stars, and it seems that when it came to this year’s VMAs Pink has not changed a bit.

Following Sunday’s award show, she commented to a fan that she felt “embarrassed” while watching the performances unfold.

According to E! News the singer said: "I felt sad because music is supposed to inspire. It saved my life. This trash won't save any kids life.”

She continued to add: "In a world that is even scarier and with lives still worth saving, who will stand up and have soul?"

So she found herself felling “disenfranchised” by the whole ordeal, aside from a few more noteworthy moments. Artists such as Tori Kelly, Justin Bieber and Macklemore were all bringing their A-game as far as Pink was concerned.

"The rest was gross and embarrassing and hard for this aging pop star to believe.”

One of the performers falling under the “gross” label was Demi Lovato, who was not impressed with Pink’s review on Sunday’s events. She responded with a series of tweets:

Fans of both singers were, naturally, less than pleased and a supposed ‘feud’ began to ignite social media.

However, Pink was quick to dismiss the unrest asking for people to stop creating drama between the stars.

Her forgetting about Demi's performance was apparently supposedly another thinly-veiled dig at the star but she insisted that was not what she was trying to do. She then shared a fan's tweet which she felt summed up the situation perfectly:

We have scientists to thank for an awful lot of things, but most recently they are responsible for abundance of adorable animal photos taking over social media.

It began with some bat-eared foxes and baby bears competing to be the world’s cutest baby animal. Things then escalated very quickly when a tiny sea turtle entered the competition, and also a squirrel glider.

Then everything got very out of hand but we really really don’t want it stop.

Competitors are not just limited to small animals either:

Even the non-fluffy types are vying for attention.

We honestly didn’t know baby fish were capable of being this adorable.

This might be one of the best trends yet.
