It's that time of year again, people.

Summer's over, college is starting back and… the giant spiders are here. If you've been keeping an eye on social media over the last week or so you've probably noticed an increase in the number of folks having complete meltdowns over massive spiders taking residence in their homes.

Like this one, for example… *runs for cover*

Finding a massive spider or three in your home is never going to be a pleasant experience, but experts say it's nothing to worry about.

Late August/early September is typically the time of year when creepy crawlies start looking for warmer places to live and lay eggs (i.e. your bedroom wall), and it's also when they go on the hunt for a mate.

All those little spiders we might have paid no attention to earlier in the year are now reaching full adult size, and they're on the lookout for a partner, pest control expert Trevor Hayden told Spin 1038 this week.

According to Trevor, there are two main types of spiders we can expect to find in Irish homes… wolf spiders and giant house spiders.

"Excluding legs, we regularly find wolf spiders with bodies around an inch long," Trevor explains.

Thankfully though, he promises they're generally harmless, even if you do get a nick or a bite. "The spiders we have here are not threatening." As for getting rid of our eight-legged friends, if you're not too squeamish, you can simply pick up the spider with some tissue or trap it in a glass and place it outside.

This way, you'll hopefully catch them before they really get comfy and start laying eggs (WHAT).

Whatever happens, by this time next month those spideys will be a distant memory. We hope…

Let's face it: a lot of folk would love to look even just a little bit more like Rosanna Davison.

Indeed, her forthcoming book, Eat Yourself Beautiful, has been on plenty of people's wish-lists for weeks.

Promising a load of recipes to "help you look and feel amazing," here in SHEmazing! we've been pretty excited to discover what goes into creating a Miss World worthy glow (not to mention a killer bikini bod).

But last night on Twitter, the model and nutritionist caused all-hell-break-loose OUTRAGE – prompting so many thousands of tweets that her name was soon trending nationally.

The issue? Quotes credited to the Playboy cover-girl in the Irish Independent's Weekend magazine reveal that her husband-of-a-year, Wesley, had recently been suffering from significant discomfort and pain in his joints and back.

And when the aches didn't go away, Rosanna suspected his ongoing symptoms could be because of rheumatoid arthritis.

Drawing on her nutritional qualifications and experience, she subsequently told Wesley to "stop with the pizzas and beer," encouraging him to embrace a totally gluten-free diet.

And "within a couple of weeks," she explained, he was pain-free and moving more freely. "So now he is really receptive to anything that I say to him."

In the same interview, the 31-year-old Dubliner went on to say: "A huge proportion of preventable diseases are attributable to a deficiency in certain nutrients… Wheat, dairy and refined sugar are trigger foods for a lot of people."

And further comments attributed to Rosanna (although, significantly, she is not quoted) in the same piece cites research that links gluten to autism spectrum disorders and schizophrenia.

Understandably, it was these remarks in particular that proved hugely divisive within the Twittersphere – with even the likes of Embarrassing Bodies' celebrity medic Dr Christian weighing-in.

Ms Davison has since clarified her comments with statements on her hugely popular website, rosannadavisonnutrition.com (in fact, so many people were attempting to log on last night, that the site temporarily crashed).

"I completely agree with Arthritis Ireland, in that those who have been diagnosed with RA must manage their disease with the advice of their GP and consultant, and not through diet alone," she states.

She also asserts: "I was by no means stating that gluten causes arthritis or any other diseases, or that they can be cured by removing it from the diet."

And this afternoon, the model issued fresh comments on the matter.

Welcoming questions and queries from those unsure of her sentiments in the Irish Indo interview, she took to Twitter to tell her 63.5K followers: “I think I'd better clarify a few things: I do not believe gluten is responsible for autism, schizophrenia or arthritis.

"Or that those suffering from those conditions can be cured by going gluten-free.

“My point was, and remains, that diet may play an important role in alleviating symptoms of serious conditions. This is well documented."

She furthermore links to a more detailed statement on her website.

Ms Davison also replied to Dr Christian, telling him: "The sentence that appears to be at the root of all of this, is not a quote, does not appear in the book and does NOT reflect my views."

Today, the commotion seems to have died down somewhat (phew!), although Twitter has a new distraction: namely the now-trending hashtag, #BlameGluten, which was kicked-off this morning by radio station, Spin 1038

And we have to say, we've been getting major lolz from the resulting tweets.

In the meantime, it's full steam ahead for Rosanna Davison's Eat Yourself Beautiful launch, which takes place this week. She's doing a signing too in Dubray Books on Grafton this Saturday at 3pm too.

What do you think of Rosanna's comments? And will you be attempting to Eat Yourself Beautiful

'Round SHEmazing Towers, we can't help but notice that mega successful singer-songwriter Taylor Swift is fond of a high-profile celebrity spat

Yes, whether it's Katy Perry (obvs), Nicki Minaj, or Tina Fey AND Amy Poehler (unforgivable!), Tay-Tay certainly isn't afraid of jumping in for a scrap when she feels slighted (which seemingly is quite often).

The 25-year-old has even managed to get her boyfriend, Calvin Harris, in on the act: a week ago he didn't like a comparison made online between his Shake It Off love and Miley Cyrus.

When the message was retweeted by none other than Zayn Malik, formerly of One Direction, Mr Harris let his feelings be known in rather spectacular fashion.

And now it's a case of another week, another celebrity shade throwing bonanza. This time, Taylor has been pitted against Canadian songstress, Avril Lavigne.

Here's the back-story (pay attention): Swifty liked a post on Tumblr which suggested she was nicer to her fans at meet and greets than many other singers – the 'other' examples used being Kanye West, Britney Spears, Katy Perry (eek)… and Avril herself.

When this came to Ms Lavigne's attention, she quickly amassed a montage of her own.

Depicted was the musician engaging warmly with the many followers she has met over a career which spans close-to a decade-and-a-half. It included the caption: "So let's keep it all about the love and stay positive."

And another tweet stated: "Comparison is judging and judging a person does not define who they are it defines who you are. We all Love our fans," – a message her 19.3million followers responded positively to.

Cue Mr Harris jumping in. "She didn't judge you she doesn't judge anyone!

"She was only having fun with her fans, not trying to compare you," the 31-year-old Scottish DJ said addressing the Sk8r Boi singer, 30, directly on Twitter.

And needless-to-say, it didn't take long for respective fans to express their outrage at the opposing side's actions. Indeed, social media has been positively alight since the incident.

Today, a source also told HollywoodLife.com that Calvin reckons Taylor is involved in so many feuds simply because "everyone" is jealous of her.

"Calvin thinks it’s plan and simple, everyone is jealous of his girl," the insider explains.

"Taylor is constantly being picked on for every little thing she does and Calvin’s advice is to stay positive and not take it personally."

Well, in that case we can't wait for next week's instalment of Tay-Tay's topsy-turvy world. Surely we're due a Britney-Swiftney spat soon?

He was controversially denied the coveted Star Baker title – despite constructing an INCREDIBLE lion entirely from bread.

However, Great British Bake Off's Paul Jagger, 49, has at least achieved another great honour: he's sparked waves of online memes and tributes which affectionately nod to his delicious show-stopper.

The prison worker's feline was created using a white bread head, a wholemeal tail, and a body filled with figs and walnuts.

Even the notoriously grumpy Paul Hollywood couldn't help but be blown away: the judge declared the lion to be "one of the best things I've seen in bread – ever!"

Mr Jagger was subsequently given a "special commendation," – with GBBO presenter Sue Perkins explaining that the honour was being bestowed because Mr Hollywood "has never ever in his life seen a bread sculpture as magnificent as that one".

Still, Paul was ultimately pipped to the Star Baker post by rival Ian Cumming – a decision which caused countless viewers to take to the likes of Twitter to vent their frustration.

With a full six days to go until next week's episode, and in order to pay our respects to Paul's magnificent lion, SHEmazing! has decided to round up the very best online responses to the great Great British Bake Off lion…

You might have seen a few interesting looking belts floating around social media of late. Supposedly responsible for helping countless celebs attain hour glasses figures, waist trainers are popping up everywhere.

They remind us of corsets, to be honest, and apparently we are not the only ones because Twitter users are furious with one particular ad for the Miss Belt.

The video has definitely got a few interesting moments in there. It claims that the Miss Belt can give you the “ideal shape in just two steps!”

The before and after shots are certainly shocking, but people are also very annoyed with the how the ad addresses the ‘post-baby bodies’.

The claim that it will help you “hide” your body after you have given birth is not going down well, at all.

There are two colour choices for people to choose from, “stylish black” or “nude”. The ad is also claiming that no one will notice you’re wearing your waist trainer except for the men in your life.

Naturally, people were angry with the ad:

Some people were also just confused:

Basically, there was a lot of this:

Amanda Bynes has finally made a return to Twitter following a four month hiatus since March.

The former child star really got fans worrying about her health and well-being over the passed few months.

But people's worries are now eased as she posted a snap of herself and a pal in which she looks happy and healthy with extremely blonde hair and long extensions

Amanda looks as if she's back to her best now as she posed with fashion designer Michael Costello saying "me and the fabulous Michael Costello (I'm wearing one of his beautiful gowns) at the SOAR Los Angeles Gala!"

She wore a black dress standing next to the designer and he also posted a photo to his Instagram account with the She's the man actress.

It is reported that Amanda is doing great after she had been treated in a psychiatric facility in 2014. She was in the facility following a DUI charge she received two years earlier.

At the time, Amanda tweeted saying "I was diagnosed bi-polar depressive so I'm on medication and I'm seeing my psychologist and psyhciatrist weekly so I'm fine :D"

Thankfully, according to reports she is on the mend.

Wowsers. We probably didn't need confirmation that you just don't mess with Taylor Swift – but if we did, that's now happened.

And it's happened in SPECTACULAR fashion. Here's the back-story:

Earlier this evening, former One Directioner Zayn Malik shared a now deleted tweet from the @FemaleTexts account with his 15.4m followers.

The message (ouch) negatively compares one Taylor Swift to fellow pop star, Miley Cyrus, and includes a screenshot of an interview with TIME.

In the interview, Ms Swift encourages her fans to download her music from iTunes now that she's withdrawn from Spotify

In contrast, Ms Cyrus's quote explains that as she's already “made [her] money” she doesn’t care if “no one buys [her] album.” Then there's a description of Cyrus’s Happy Hippie Foundation, which benefits LGBT youth.

The tweet concludes: “The difference is astounding.”

Right or wrong, the sentiment is clear: multi-millionaire Taylor Swift, 25, is intent on making LOTS more money for herself – while Miley Cyrus, 22, is more concerned with using her celebrity and fortune to help others.

Understandably, it is an accusation that Tay-Tay's boyfriend wasn't about to take lying down.

"You've made your money?" he began addressing Mr Malik via the social-networking site. "Cool… fuck the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah fuck em."

A series of tweets ensued, including the line: "There's some poor fucker in a basement making your new favorite record trying to survive."

Zayn then fought back: "Ha you just made an absolute fool of yourself mate," he began, adding: "I suggest you calm your knickers before them dentures fall out."

The 22-year-old concluded with: "Oh and I write my own shit too dickhead."

Taylor herself has yet to get involved – although 31-year-old Calvin did appear to offer an olive branch of sorts to his rival in the end.

For now, Mr Malik has bowed out of the contest: he's giving the Scottish DJ the silent treatment.

Whatever next… Perrie Edwards throwing in her tuppence worth? Well, Little Mix did just appear on stage with Taylor in California.

Yup, it seems lines have been drawn.

Pop star Ariana Grande is having quite a week it seems.

It was announced yesterday by The Hollywood Reporter that the 21-year old singer was ranked as the second most hated celebrity by Americans. Now she has also caused absolute outrage on social media.

This time it is not because of any pastry related incidents. Instead an American talk show host is being called out by Ariana fans after she made comments about Ariana’s appearance on her show.

#CancelWendyWilliamsShow is now trending all over the world on Twitter.

Why are fans so displeased? Wendy said: "I don't look at her as a woman."

She referred to the singer’s height (4’11”) and said “she’ll forever look 12… I don’t mean that in a good way.”

She said that while it is nice to look youthful, she considers that Ariana looks a little too young.

The Ariana Grande fandom did not take this well, they are seriously pissed off and they are not afraid to let the whole world know.

While her fans have taken the matter into their own hands and are calling for Wendy's TV show to be taken off the air, Ariana has yet to respond.

Demi Lovato is currently in Australia to promoter her latest single Cool For Summer.

While it appears the 22-year old pop star has been having the time of her life Down Under, one of her latest tweets has shown not all is as it seems.

You may have heard that just recently the singer was left devastated when her adorable pooch Buddy was attached by coyotes and died. She took to Instagram to say that since then she has been through “the most painful week” of her life.

While she has been leaning on boyfriend Wilmer Valderama for support, both were left heartbroken after the incident.

It seems that her painful loss as not something believed to be off-limits in a recent run in with paparazzi.

Demi tweeted her annoyance with the photographers yesterday:

It turns out this is not the first time that an American celebrity has raised issue with the actions of some of Australia’s paparazzi.

Last year Katy Perry took to social media to express her concern over their behaviour. She said that she believed that they had no respect or “character of humanity”.

She even labelled them as “stalkers” and posted pictures of the individuals she felt were targeting her specifically. Katy asked people to remember that anyone who printed unauthorised photographs of her in her bikini were "disgusting" and "perverted" old men.

In case you missed it today, 12 August is also known as World Elephant day.

Since 2011, this day has been set aside by many around the world to “spread awareness, share knowledge and provide solutions for better care and management of both captive and wild elephants”.

The world Elephant Day website explains that the animals face numerous challenges that include poaching, loss of their habitats, exploitation and abuse.

The Wildlife Conservation Society points out that ivory trafficking and poaching kill 35,000 African elephants every year.

"Ivory and rhino horn, derived from the illegal killing of elephants and rhinos in Africa and Asia, are typically trafficked by transnational organized crime syndicates across the world,” said Christian Samper, president and CEO of the WCS.

Throughout many today people, including celebrities, have taken to social media in efforts to raise awareness about the plight of some of their favourite and most endangered animals.

This guy just wants to say "hey".

They are known to be playful creatures.

Ricky Gervais is a well-known animal activist:

Ian Somerhalder is an avid animal lover and uses his foundation to fight for animals rights, includes those for elephants.

Look at how cute this guy is with his buddies!

And we could never forget this epic elephant pool party:

He set tongues wagging when he liked a week-old sexy snap of Kylie Jenner – and then turned up to her birthday bash in West Hollywood on Sunday evening.

But Zayn Malik is certainly keeping his options open. Not only was he reportedly making a beeline for older sis Kendall, 19, at Kylie's 18th celebrations, but the former One Direction singer now has his eye on another major Hollywood starlet… namely, Selena Gomez.

Yes, yesterday he made sure to follow her on Twitter; considering the Texan posts plenty of her own sultry pics, she'll no doubt be right up newly-single Zayn's street.

Actually, we reckon the 23-year-old singer and actress would be a GREAT match for Zayn, 22, but the fans' reaction was a mixed bag of the good, bad, and ugly.

Of course, Mr Malik reportedly dumped fiancee Perrie Edwards via text at the end of July. Meanwhile, Ms Gomez and superstar singer Justin Bieber have seemingly been an on-off stable for years.

Pretty only thing that could make this situation better? Perrie and The Biebs hooking up before the week is out.

Hey! Stranger things have happened, we say…

You may have heard that tomorrow will be very special day for teenagers up and down the country tomorrow.

The second Wednesday in August can send some school leavers into a state of despair at the mere thought. Parents have also been known to get a bit tetchy around this time of year as well.

A quick gander through the hashtag #LeavingCert on Irish twitter today proves that is very much true today as exam students shared their dread with the world.

We gathered up some of the best from today and you can be sure tomorrow will have plenty of gems too.

Plenty of messages have been shared on social media to remind students that tomorrow’s results aren’t going to determine their entire future.

More people have taken to twitter to reminisce about their results day memories. Plenty of students have also been letting us know they intend to celebrate (or commiserate) tomorrow.

Surely it won't be that bad?

Ah yes, we know the feeling well.

Bit harsh, no?

Some people have been counting down the days….

We're not sure we were that enthusiastic to get a hold of the mysterious brown envelope…

Ah here.

One thing that we know for sure, there’s going to be candles light across the length and breadth of the country tonight in preparation for the big day.
