Valentine’s Day

Valentine's Day isn't for everyone, and single or taken, some people just can't stand the cringe.

We'd much prefer to receive these gas paper tokens of love than a proper sappy love note.

Here are our favourite anti-Valentine's cards, we'll take all 10.

1. This one, for those who don't do cringe.

2. And this one, for those who want to get straight to the point. Perfect for a friend with benefits.

 3. This absolute gem, for couples who have hit the 'I love you but sometimes I want to kill you' stage.

 4. This one is for the perpetually pessimistic.

 5. This one sums up the sentiments of the non-gift exchanging couple.

 6. This one, which tells the tale of the highest expression of love, the mythical shaven leg.

 7. This one, which accurately portrays the depths of our dark souls.

 8. For the Luna lover in your life, this card is actually kind of cute but still non-traditional.

 9. Hipster boyfriends rejoice, this to-the-point card may be en route to you.

10. And lastly, this beauty of a card, which marries our love of unicorns with the realities of dating us

When you first begin dating your SO, Valentine's Day means roses and chocolates and pleasant surprises.

But, when you've been with your partner for yonks, the fad quickly runs dry and you'll be lucky to even get a card on V-Day.

So, if you still want that little bit of a spark on February 14, then we suggest you dip into one of these activities:

Cook a simple dinner at home

Going out on Valentine's night is extremely expensive, and it takes a whole lot of effort.

Keep things low-key by cooking dinner at home – it doesn't have to be anything fancy, just something you both enjoy.

Movie night

Pick a few movies that you both like, and then head to the shop and buy a heap load of popcorn, chocolate, cookies and whatever other sweets take your fancy.

Then grab a blanket a snuggle up on the couch together. Perfect.

Board games

Related image

We hardly ever play board games anymore, but if you have a little bit of a competitive side, they are SO fun.

Whip out all the old classics, pour a glass of vino, and your night is sorted.

Take away and TV

These two go together just as well as you and your significant other.

Sit back, order some yummy Chinese food, and binge on your favourite TV shows.

Stay in bed

Hey, why not? Put on your fancy undies (or *nothing*), light some candles and see where the night takes you.

You won't regret this one.

Same sex marriage has only been legal in Ireland for about 14 months, so celebrating inclusive campaigns like Lush's new Valentine's Day photo set is a must.

Lush is known for being progressive in its business ethics and for its support of the LGBTQ community, after the brand came out with a "Gay is Ok" bath product last year.

The new campaign is super cute and showcases two queer couples just doing their thing while being in love.

The male couple are shown enjoying a cuddle and a soak in a pink tinted bath, a simple way to add a splash of diversity to the usually heteronormative Valentine's Day conversation.

A lesbian couple are shown having a bubble bath, complete with bubble beard.

Campaigns like this help to normalise the concept of LGBTQ relationships and seeing homosexual couples on a commercial platform shows the progress society has made when it comes to being accepting of all sexualities, making them super important for the community.

Lush have tagged all of their Valentine's social media postings with the hashtag #LoveIsLove.

Keep doing you Lush.

If you are thoroughly lacking a signifigant other and have accepted the fact that no amount of Tinder swiping will cause you to acquire one before the big event, then it's time to gear up for Galentine's Day.

Galentines Day involves eschewing the shackles of romantic relationships and celebrating the annual day of love with your besties.

But what to do when the restaurants are full of PDA-offending lovers and Instagram is full of pictures of Mchael Kors bags with the hashtag best boyfriend ever?

1. The ultimate girls night out

A photo posted by modàfashion. (@glamxmoda) on

An obvious choice but a complete classic.

Get your unattached ladies around for some predrinks and make some cocktail recipes you found on the internet, then paint the town red.

Everyone will be out for the shift, so if that's not your style, cackle in delight as you rebut the advances of the opposite sex. Or get the shift, you do you, girl.

2. Have a date night with your favourite actor

Not literally unfortunately, George Clooney will probably be busy with Amal.

But settling in for the night with a handful of movies featuring your ultimate thespian crush is the next best thing.

Don't forget to stock up on popcorn, pizza and wine so you don't have to move for the night.

3. Fifty Shades of Grey

Just like last year, the new Fifty Shades of Grey instalment is out around Valentines Day.

There is no better way to spend an evening than giggling at a rude movie with your best friends, and the experience will only be heightened by the fact that the cinema will be full of fellow females laughing at the cheesy romantic film. If BDSM can be considered romantic.

Booking in advance is probably a good idea, as cinemas can get pretty busy on V-Day.

4. Laugh until you cry…

…instead of just crying.

There are plenty of comedy gigs going on every night around the country, so if you and your girls need some cheering up on Galentine's, then a comedy show is a good way to get the laughs going.

Plus it's Valentines Day, so the comedian will probably be taking the p*** out of couples and romance to please your bitter, single heart.

5. Pamper day

While this one is the ultimate cliche, getting a mani pedi with your best friend and then heading home to veg out wearing face masks is a pretty relaxing endeavour.

Meet up after work (V-Day lands on a Tuesday this year) for some evening treatments and then relax and reminisce on the ghosts of boyfriends past.

After all, sometimes romance can be fleeting, but your girls are there for life.

OK, so Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and most of you are probably wondering what to get the man in your life.

Look no further, lovelies, because broquets are the answer to all your problems.

"Flowers are lame, say it with beef" is the slogan supporting the company that creates pretty flower arrangements… out of beef.

That's right, ladies; you can buy glorious flower bouquets, made entirely from dried beef jerky!

For the cool price of €32, you can hook your man up with the meatiest flower display you could imagine.

Love peppered #jerky, but cleaning up from making a #Broquet can be annoying. #worthit #Broquet #SayItWithBeef #beefjerky

Yes, it's totally bizarre, but we kind of love it!

Getting your act together for Valentine's Day can be extra difficult, especially when you're broke.

However, skimping on the splurging doesn't spell the end of date night for you and your partner.

There are plenty of free things you can do to make that day special, no cost involved.

1. Cycling

A photo posted by Cal Good (@calgood) on

The best thing about nature, besides its beauty, is that it's free.

A cycling date is an amazing way to explore parts of Ireland that you have never experienced before, all the while accumulating a smug sense of self-satisfaction knowing that you're getting your daily dose of fresh air and exercise.

Pick a delightful scenic cycling route for you and your bae, along the coast or through a big city park.

2. Back garden picnic

Weather permitting, a dusk back garden picnic is the ultimate dream date, and it's totally free.

Rig a fort in your garden using sheets and make a sitting area underneath with rugs, throws, and plenty of cushions.

Keep the food simple so theres no need to keep dashing inside to make sure nothing is burning, and lose the run of yourself with the fairy lights, draping them all over everything to create a special, romantic ambience.

You can even prop the laptop up and enjoy a movie chilling in your outdoor fort, or if it's getting too cold as darkness approaches, wrap up and take the movie inside.

3. Night in

A photo posted by jenna_cosentino (@jenna_cosentino) on

Nights in have a shameful reputation for being boring, but there's no need for that.

Save the Netflix and chill for another day and get out some board games or a deck of cards for you and your love interest to play.

Making your own pizzas from scratch (or just popping a frozen one in the oven) is the perfect relaxed games night food, and a scattering of throw pillows, fairy lights and candles gives the place some ambience.

4. Catch a gig

A photo posted by Matt (@matt_s_jolly) on

The great thing about pubs is that there is a great atmosphere, great music, and most importantly, no cover charge.

Bringing your potential bae to a great pub to enjoy a spot of live music is always a good idea, and if you can bear not to buy a pint it's totally free.

Some of the best bands and singers out there began doing pub gigs, and there are some seriously talented musicians singing their hearts out in pubs all over the country every weekend.

5. Surfing

A photo posted by katiesurfs (@katiesurfs) on

Pack up your car, bike or bus ticket and head to your nearest surf spot for a day of riding the waves, amongst other things.

Surfing is free if you already have your own board, and while it's technically not free if you don't, a two hour lesson is usually around €30, so pretty reasonable.

Bring a picnic of sandwiches because you're sure to be starving after, or splurge even more on some seaside chipper food, and don't forget a giant blanket to cuddle in on the beach when you're freezing to death after your foray into the Atlantic.

Red is the colour of the moment, with Valentines Day just around the corner and Kylie Jenner rocking a ravishing red floor length gown over on her Snapchat.

The makeup mogul opted for the vibrant shade while enjoying a mini break with her bae Tyga and sister Kendall.

The new spring season means that there are plenty of colourful options to choose from when it comes to integrating some red into your wardrobe, but a pretty party dress is the best way to dive into the new season head first.

Red symbolises passion, desire, and love, so add these elements to your life with a sultry gúna dearg.

1. ASOS

This ASOS dress is like a boho version of Kylie's high end glamour.

And using the flamenco dancer emoji while wearing it is obviously a must.

2. Boohoo

Short and sweet, this peasant style dress will be ideal now for work with tights and boots, and perfect for spring barbecues and nights out with bare legs in the warmer months.

3. Missguided

If girly dresses are not your thing, try a cosy, on trend, oversized hoodie styled as a dress.

This type of dress looks just as good with heeled boots as it does with tights and converse, so the options are endless.

4. & Other Stories

& Other Stories just opened up on Dublin's Grafton Street last month, and we are beyond obsessed with it's selection of styles.

This red lace skater dress is seriously on trend with its high Victorian collar, and even better, its on sale right this second.

5. Missguided

This ruffled hem dress is without a doubt a show-stopping party piece.

The simple style lets the on trend hemline do all the talking.

6. ASOS

Embroidery isn't going anywhere this season, so this statement dress is ideal for the fashionista within.

The gorgeous detailing on this piece makes it stand alone look, only a simple pair of heels and an understated clutch are required.

7. Parfois

When it comes to accessorising a red dress, black and neutral shades are best to let the dress do the talking.

A minimal watch and a lightly detailed bag are all you need, and the gorgeous embroidered rose detail on that handbag is the perfect compliment to a rosy red frock.

Date or no date, these red dresses have us totally in love with Valentines-inspired dressing.

In our opinion, Lush can really do no wrong, and this special Valentine's Day collection is simply proof of that.

Whether you're buying a gift for your significant other, or you simply want to #treatyoself, these gorgeous products are perfection.

From bath bombs to shower gels, there really is something for everyone, and we want them ALL.

There's even a lip scrub that will have your pout soft, smooth and ready to smooch.

The collection includes some fabulous pink products, like emoji bath bombs and Prince Charming shower cream (smells like HEAVEN).

OH, and there is also a bath bomb… that is inspired by a UNICORN horn.

Say no more…

We know what we want this Valentine's Day.

Tyga must be raking in the cash: he was happy to drop a five-figure sum on his girlfriend Kylie's Valentine's Day gift.

And rather than buy her jewellery, or showering her with flowers and chocolates, the rapper opted for a rather more unconventional expression of his love.

Yes, the 26-year-old splashed out a cool €13,500 on a GRILL for Ms Jenner, 18.

How romantic.

TMZ reports that the stunning 18ct diamond and gold piece was bought at Johnny Dang & Co – an outlet favoured by celebrity types including Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg.

Tyga is certainly a generous boyfriend: he famously gifted his reality TV star love with a €300,000 Ferrari for her 18th birthday last August.
