McDonald’s will launch their first ever vegan meal from January 2, with the introduction of the new Veggie Dippers.  

The new Veggie Dippers, made with red pepper, rice, sundried tomato pesto and split peas surrounded by light and crispy breadcrumbs, have been accredited by The Vegan Society.

Customers will be able to order a fully vegan meal for the first time when the Veggie Dippers are teamed with a Vegan Society approved Fries and any of the soft drink options and sauces. The Veggie Dippers will also be available as a fully vegan Happy Meal® following the success of the first ever veggie Happy Meal® earlier this year.

Thomas O’Neill, Head of Food Marketing at McDonald’s UK & Ireland, said: “In the last 12 months we’ve seen an 80% uplift in customers ordering vegetarian options at McDonald’s, so it is time for the brand famous for the dippable McNugget to launch a dippable option for our vegetarian, vegan and flexitarian customers. The Veggie Dippers are a delicious addition to our menu and we’re looking forward to seeing what customers make of our first vegan Extra Value Meal and Happy Meal in the New Year.”

The new vegan meal options are:

  • NEW Veggie Dippers meal – Four red pepper and pesto dippers with light and crispy breadcrumbs, served with Fries and a soft drink.

  • NEW Veggie Dippers Happy Meal® – Two red pepper and pesto dippers with light and crispy breadcrumbs, served with choice of vegan friendly side (vegetable bag, fruit bag or fries) and water or a Fruit Shoot.

  • Alternatively, the four Veggie Dippers can be purchased separately.

January has been officially taken over by the vegans.

If you haven't heard of Veganuary yet – it's when people sign-up to take part in going vegan for the month of January.

Veganism is, of course, more than just a diet but the food is a massive part of the lifestyle.

That's why Dublin will host the Vegan Foodie Festival from January 24 to 27.

In its second year, the festival aims to show how easy and accessible it is to be vegan around the capital – and all at a special discount for participates. 

SHEmazing spoke to the organiser, Katy Morgan who explained that 22 vegan restaurants will be taking part this year.

Although the festival is currently Dublin-based, Katy hopes to expand and bring it to other cities in Ireland this year.

If you've taken part in the popular foodie event last year, make a note that for 2019 you will need a ticket.

The tickets are €2.50 each and Katy advises to hold onto the one you buy for the entire festival. 

Katy explained: "Tickets avail of all the special offers. All you need to do is to get a ticket and visit as many participating places with one ticket."

Restaurants such as Brother Hubbard, Take A Veg, Sova Vegan Butcher and McGuinness's (Camden St) are all taking part in the foodie event. 

Participating restaurants, takeaways and cafes will be offering festival goers entertainment, new set menus, discounts and other special offers.

So whether you're a vegan, plant-based, trying Veganuary or just fecking nosey – this festival is open to everyone and anyone.

Ice cream lovers, vegans and lactose humans assemble.

Tomorrow, Saturday November 24, Ben and Jerry's are giving out FREE vegan ice cream.

The ice creams Gods are collaborating with three vegan joints around the country to celebrate World Vegan Month – which, FYI, is this month.
