When Adele's album 21 came out back in 2011, we all listened to Someone Like You and had a bit of a sob.

Whether you've had your heart broken, wondered 'what if' about an ex, or just fancied someone who didn't feel the same, there's no way you can listen to Adele's biggest hit without welling up.

Now, the singer is back on the airwaves (and in our hearts) with a brand new album and a heap of downright amazing singles – and her return to music stirred up a few memories for one Irish fan.

Stephanie Pope, from Derry, penned an amazing letter to Adele via Facebook last night, recalling how Someone Like You helped her get over a particularly crappy guy.

"I had just split up with my 2 timing, lying, cheating dirt bag of a fiancée 2 weeks previous when you sang at the Brit Awards" she writes.

"I still lived with the p**** and went on a 'f*** you and your secret love child' night out with my mates. I had got pissed as a newt in an hour!"

Stephanie then goes on to explain how she "stumbled" home and started belting out Someone Like You in her living room, much to the disgust of her love rat fiancé.

Here's the letter in full, because you NEED to read it all – it has a happy ending, we promise:

Since it was posted last night, Stephanie's letter has over 36,000 likes… and counting.

There hasn't been a response from Adele yet, but there's no way she could read this without smiling, we reckon.

Australian MP Andrew Leigh sent out his annual family Christmas card this year, but one member of his brood was having none of it.

The Canberra-based politician had his festive greeting gatecrashed somewhat by his youngest son, who flat-out refused to smile for the snap.

Just by looking at this photo we can guess exactly what went one – 25 failed attempts to get the little fella to smile, followed by a 'Fine! Well we'll take the photo without you then' which Andrew and his wife actually decided to follow through on.

The Christmas card has gone viral since it was sent around this week – we're sure Andrew's only delighted with the increase in public popularity.

But we all know it's his toddler son who's the true hero. Meme waiting to happen.

Over the weekend, for perhaps the first time in the history of the Internet (although not Irish internet) meteorologist fashion took over everything.

One woman posted an Amazon link to an inexpensive, brightly coloured dress in a Facebook group for female TV meteorologists about a month ago. Yes, these types of Facebook groups exist… now that we know it is all we can think about.

Is Jean a member?

Since then, weather broadcasters all over the US have been buying this magical dress. Now, meteorologists on Twitter are talking about the Sisterhood of the Travelling Dress.

The dress costs around €20 on Amazon and €57 straight from the vendor, Homeyee, a China-based the e-commerce site whose website is full of “lorem ipsum” text and some interesting translations.

Meteorologists are hungry for fashion recommendations, apparently.

Their profession require clothes that are comfortable enough to move around in and fancy enough to be seen wearing on the telly. Which is fair enough really when you think of how many times you have heard people pass comment on ‘that one from the weather’s’ outfit of the day.

“Sometimes what to wear is biggest stress of my job,” the Weather Channel’s Jen Carfagno told Slate. “Don't look too old, or too young. Too tight will make you look like ready for the dance club.”

“Too baggy will make you look frumpy. Black every day is boring. Patterns are tough with the lights and camera.

"Staying wrinkle-free is tough. How many styles of red dresses are there anyway?”

We are exhausted just thinking about it, to be honest.

The appeal of this dress is not just the flattering cut that many meteorologists are raving about – it also have the perfect neckline for pinning a mic on to.

Practical, flattering and cheap!

The holy trinity of dresses basically. We understand the internet obsession now. When can we get one?

Ruairi McSorley became an internet sensation after he was interviewed in January during a particularly cold morning in his native Derry.

His line: “You wouldn’t be long getting frostbit” was repeated up and down the country (and further afield) for months after his TV appearance. Now, he is back and better than ever.

It seems that Ruairi has relocated to Connemara to study media and Irish. To nobody’s surprise, he had been told many times that a career in media would be in his future.

Naturally, he’s decided to make a go of it, and with his latest interview as Gaeilge we foresee a bright future.

As for the local scene in Co. Galway; the “sean-nos” dancing is not exactly his favourite way to spend a Saturday night.

However, he does say “is maith liom an jiving”. Please, someone consider an entire series of videos of Ruair’s jiving adventures. It is the reality series we desperately need.

Does he have any plans if a career in media doesn’t work out?

“There’ll be turf to cut somewhere.”

If you needed a reminder of Ruairi's first media appearance:

Hello, your dreams called and they have the package you have been waiting for!

We all know that time of the month comes with cramps, back aches, bloating, plus all kinds of other pain and emotional devastation. So much emotional upheaval.

25 GIFs That Perfectly Sum Up Having Your Period

While we are all different, we can generally all agree that sometimes we just want to crawl into bed and never leave.

As different as we all are, there are some ways to address the worst of our PMS symtpons.

There are the rational things we can do, such as exercising or healthy eating but there are other things we do, too.

These things are more about comfort than actual logic. Sometimes you just need the comfort that comes along with your favourite comfy pants, junk food, and Titanic. No judgement here.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if some sort of a period fairy (a menstrual nymph, as it were) delivered a package to your doorstep when you’re desperate for your favourite comfort items?

Well, but this magical being is actually the PMS Package and it is now real.

From the comfort of your computer, you can go on the PMS Package website and subscribe to receive a period care package every month. You can pick the size of the package and the date of arrival, so your cycle is synced with this service.

Sounds amazing, right?

The person behind the PMS Package is 19-year old University of Miami student Luke Buchy.

He told Cosmopolitan that they have “a team of girls dedicated to helping us put box ideas on a month to month basis,” but a photo that Buchy tweeted in October of the “PMS squad” depicts mostly boys running the company.

Not exactly who we envisioned to be behind a product developed for menstruating women, but that certainly hasn’t stopped the company for becoming a huge success.

Look, we all know that there is one thing that without fail will make us turn into a blubbering mess.

Everyone has something that can get the waterworks started instantly. However, there does tend to be certain individuals who just cannot seem to stop themselves, ever.

The glass case of emotion quote is not even sufficient to describe their habits. We know certain people whose hydration levels we worry about on a near daily basis.

We don't know why, and sometimes it seems perhaps too forward or insensitive to ask.

Maybe they've been given some bad news, then it is probably best to leave it alone. Or maybe they are just too in touch with their feelings. Something will no doubt set them off at some point. We can’t imagine how you would cope when living with one such individual in close quarters.

Well, one writer does and has decided to document what makes his wife cry. His list has become a viral sensation.

Since he wrote the list, and then very kindly posted a picture on Twitter, people around the world have been sharing the snap.

“There were no biscuits in the house,” is a fairly common cause for a few tears thank you very much.

Also, who hasn’t ever been in a terribly fragile state and gotten teary eyed at the sight of an adorable animal?  She is not alone in her love of small animals!

"A lot of people have accused her of being pregnant or having emotional problems but the thing is she is just a sensitive soul," Aaron told Cosmopolitan.com.

"She's quite fantastically sweet like that. I don't think she ever thought the world would be worrying about why she randomly cries at everything."

Do you take a patch test every time you dye your hair? Nah, us neither.

But after seeing the completely crazy allergic reaction this woman had to a standard colour, we'll definitely be more careful next time.

One Imgur user posted these snaps (with permission) of her friend's "pretty ridiculous allergic reaction to hair dye." Behold:

And if you're thinking that this poor beauty victim must have grabbed the cheapest bottle of dye she could find in the Two Euro Store and rubbed it maniacally into her scalp, you'd be very mistaken.

In fact, her friend insists that she went to a professional stylist for the colour, and "they have used that dye on her in the past, so it wasn't expected."

After getting the colour applied, the woman experienced no pain for a full day, but within 24 hours her scalp had started to itch.

Within 48 hours her head and face began to swell, and she quickly headed to the ER.

Luckily, the swelling began to drain and subside by Day 4 or 5, as you can see:

But – unsurprisingly – the woman says she's "never dyeing her hair again."

Shudder.

Another day in the life of a woman who was just trying to go about her daily routine when cat-callers couldn't resist shouting some led comments as she passed. But this time, there's a sort-of happy ending.

Julia Price was jogging when a man started shouting at her. However, on this day there happened to be a little boy standing nearby and he responded to the street harasser to stop being so rude.

Julia writes that James said: "Hey. That is not nice to say to her and she didn't like you yelling at her. You shouldn't do that because she is a nice girl and I don't let anyone say mean things to people. She's a girl like my sister and I will protect her."

Julia took to Facebook to remark on the little boy's act of kindness and since then thousands of people have been hailing him a hero for his actions.

In a post Julia wrote:

"I was on my usual running path when I heard an older man yelling loudly enough for me to hear through my headphones. "Sexy lady, hey hey hey sexy lady!" He kept screaming it and I decided to just ignore him and keep running.

This ignoring seemed to piss him off so he lashed out and said "eff you, dumb B****!" Now let's keep in mind he was well-dressed and appeared to be on his lunch break from an office job."

She explained that she was about to go and tell the man off for his behaviour but James stepped in and told the man to stop.

I was on my usual running path when I heard an older man yelling loudly enough for me to hear through my headphones. "…

There are plenty of folk who confess to not being all that crazy about their name.

Maybe their parents opted for a traditional moniker that nowadays just doesn’t appeal – or perhaps their mum or dad were alternative types who had a moment of madness in the labour ward.

However, as the internet proves again and again, there is ALWAYS someone far worse off.

Take, for example, one poor Australian chap – who certainly sports one of the more cringe-inducing titles we’ve stumbled across recently.

In a frustrated Facebook post, Mr Phuc Dat Bich – who has been accused in the past of making up his name – stated: “I find it highly irritating the fact that nobody seems to believe me when I say that my full legal name is how you see it.

Indeed, taking matters into his own hands, 23-year-old Phuc decided to share a snap of his passport, proving once and for all he’s the real deal.

“I've been accused of using a false and misleading name of which I find very offensive,” he added. "Is it because I'm Asian? Is it?”

And although Phuc Dat Bich is actually correctly pronounced ‘Phoop Dook Bic,’ native-English speakers – overwhelmingly in the majority in Australia – can’t help but say the words phonetically.

Indeed, Mr Dat Bich furthermore highlighted that his Facebook account has even been “shut down multiple times”.

On the plus side, his online complaint, which was actually posted back in January but has only now gone viral, has received more than 125,000 likes and has been shared some 67,000 times.

Police in Perth are reportedly on the hunt for a group pf nine men who have been spotted driving motorised picnic tables along the roads of Scarborough Beach.

While many other people are finding this not quite high speed chase highly amusing, Western Australia Police are not.

Photos and videos of the men driving along Scarborough Beach Road towards a section of the West Coast Highway have gone viral on social media.

Police are putting a call out on Facebook requesting help to identify those involved.

"Police are concerned for the safety of those riding on the tables with no protective clothing, especially when on roads alongside motor vehicles," Western Australia Police said.

The police said those involved "could face a number of charges including driving an unlicensed vehicle, driving an unroadworthy vehicle and drink driving".

Definitely not suited for driving in busy roads we agree, but we also can’t help but wonder who thought this was going to be a good idea.

Also, where does one find a motorised picnic table?

Well, what are the chances of something like this happening of a Friday?

Actually, considering that there are not that many dedicated supporters on location in Zenica this evening, the odds of spotting your dad in the crowd on the telly is decidedly more likely.

Which is exactly why William Murphy’s dad is going to have some serious explaining to do when he arrives home.

Yesterday, William realised that he hadn’t seen his dad for the entire day. Naturally, he was beginning to feel a bit unsettled by the notion.

However, he need not have worried because once he turned on the on the nine o’clock news on RTÉ his questions were answered.

There’s dad! Right there on the streets of Zenica in his very fetching green jersey. He is quickly being branded a hero by social media users for his dedication to the sporting cause.

In case you were wondering, Zenica is 2,752.9 kilometres away. So, you know, a handy detour on your way back from picking up a few messages.

Fair play to him, but now we’re dying to know how he explains himself when he gets home.

Roberta Bernardo is a 19-year old student from Brazil. She is also now something of an internet celebrity since her adventures with her best friend have gone viral.

So, Roberta and her BFF do pretty much everything that your usual besties do. They hang out, eat snacks and enjoy some fabulous fashion.

The reason their friendship has gone viral is because Roberta’s new pal is not actually human. She’s not even a pet. She’s a potato, named Potato- obviously.

“She looked like a little baby with little arms,” Roberta told BuzzFeed Brazil.

Roberta took it upon herself to bring Potato home, and made her a very important part of her life.

She gave her a total makeover and the two spent some quality time bonding over contouring and hair accessories.

When she shared her story on Facebook, the internet couldn’t get enough of the pair.

So Bernardo took her home and gave her a bath.

When asked how Potato was handling her newfound internet fame, Rpberta said Potato was currently in the fridge so she wouldn’t rot. Good looking out, Roberta.

What could possibly be next for the pair?

“Life is ephemeral,” Bernardo said. “I believe she will live these moments as if they were the last, enjoying the laurels of fame.”

In the meantime, Potato seems to be enjoying a very luxe lifestyle. Her newfound internat fame may have possibly influence her style, possibly.
