Ivanka met with boos after calling Trump a ‘champion of families’
Ivanka Trump was booed and jeered during her first international outing as a White House advisor following comments she made praising Donald Trump’s views on women.
She is in Berlin to participate in talks aimed at encouraging women’s economic empowerment, but it wasn’t long before to topic of discussion turned to her father.
In a video obtained by The Independent, a reporter can be heard asking the first daughter about the President’s attitude towards women, to which she replied, "I've certainly heard the criticism from the media, and that's been perpetuated."
She continued to defend her father’s actions, insisting that her own personal experience, and the experience of ‘thousands’ of other women did not add up with the media’s portrayal.
"He encouraged me and enabled me to thrive. I grew up in a house where there was no barrier to what I could accomplish beyond my own perseverance and my own tenacity."
The panel discussion was also attended by German Chancellor, Angel Merkel, and IMF director, Christine Lagarde.
This is not the first time Ivanka has been the subject of public criticism.
Just last month she was impersonated by Scarlett Johansson in a Saturday Night Live sketch.
