This weekend, artist Kady Berry will host her first solo exhibition ‘Hot Messes’ in Dublin at the beautiful light filled space at Studio 10 in the heart of the city.

'Hot Messes' are appealing for a number of reasons, most notably because they are unexpected, capricious and agonizingly provocative. In addition, numerous contingent factors make duplication rare and continual repetition virtually impossible.

Kady Berry is an Irish artist based in Cork city. She studied fashion design at the Mallow College of Design and Tailoring where she was awarded Design Student of the Year.

Coming from a background in fashion is what influences her work to this day. The texture, layering and detail that once influenced her designs are now at the core of each carefully considered piece.

In her latest series of paintings, Kady moves from paper to panels allowing the viewer to fully appreciate the medium of encaustic. Through the medium of encaustic she has found a way of combining the elements of what she loves and translates them in to her vibrant, abstract paintings. Working with encaustic, a wax based paint, she begins the drafting process. Layer upon layer is constructed, within each of which are thoughtfully placed details. By applying heat to the wax, textures emerge and as the layers build, colours and patterns form, resulting in a vibrant, tactile paintings.

'Hot Messes' An Exhibition by Kady Berry will open Friday September 27 and will open to the public on Saturday 28 10am-5pm and Sunday 29 1pm-5pm

Prices from €180- €2765

The excitement of this festive season can sometimes overtake the real meaning of Christmas. We can get caught up in shopping for presents and finding the perfect dress for the Christmas party, but at the end of the day, this holiday is all about thinking of those you love.

Christmas can be a very lonely time for many, so SuperValu is set to help address this by supporting ALONE and raising funds to support people who are suffering from loneliness this Christmas.

SuperValu will open its special All Things Considered Christmas Café on 41 South William St for two days from November 23 to 24,  from 10 am to 8 pm.

Bring a friend along who you may not have seen for some time and enjoy some festive treats, choosing from a menu of Christmas favourites from the Specially Sourced wine range, SuperValu Christmas bakery range, sandwiches and Signatures Tastes meats and cheese platters with proceeds from the menu going to ALONE.

In addition, with SuperValu at the heart of 217 communities, this year they are asking their shoppers to Consider Taking Time to Catch up with someone in their community who may be lonely this festive season and drop around to have a chat and cuppa along with a mince pie.

A 0.20c donation from all packs of Signature Taste mince pies will go to ALONE. Retailers around the country will also be hosting local coffee and mince pie mornings and wine and cheese evenings from Friday, November 23 to  Saturday, December 1 to raise further funds and awareness for the charity.

You can pick up plenty of delicious treats from the dlr COCO Market before the movie begins. A few market vendors will even open late on Saturday and Sunday to cater for the movie-goers.

It’s been less than 24 hours since I went to see Coppers: The Musical and I am itching to see it again. Have I been on the Olympia’s website for the past 15 minutes umming and ahhing about buying tickets? Possibly…

I have to admit I wasn’t expecting much from the musical, mainly because of my limited love for Coppers and it’s sticky floors, overpriced drink and love for cheesy pop music, but boy was I pleasantly surprised.

My stomach hurt from laughing so much, my cheeks ached from smiling and Maniac 2000 will be forever stuck in my head.

The show follows the love story between Kerry girl Noleen who moves from small town  Cahersiveen to Dublin and GAA player and clamper Gino Wildes.

The musical features comical songs about working for the VHI and gay GAA players-that will be stuck in your head forever, but most importantly, Coppers will leave you feeling oddly proud about Ireland and our unique cliches.

The cast really won me over, especially Noleen’s hopeless fiance Mossy and his side-splitting performance. They're a genuinely talented group of people and certainly deserve a standing ovation each night.

The show is silly and witty, and serious fans of the theatre may call it foolish, but Coppers: The Musical is full of heart.

It’ll brighten your day and leave you yearning to go to the over-crowded club on Harcourt Street with hopes of finding your very own Noleen(t) or Gino.

Kudos to Paul Howard, Karl Harpur and the entire cast of Copper Face Jacks: The Musical.

Do yourself a favour and go see this joy of a musical. It’s too good to miss.

Copper Face Jacks: The Musical runs in the Olympia until Sunday, August 12.

Have you ever wanted a good excuse to have to avoid cooking? Well, thanks to Deliveroo your prayers have been answered.

The last thing you want to do on the weekend is slave away in the kitchen like Cinderella. We can't help but daydream about going out for brunch or dining at that fancy new Italian restaurant your colleague has been raving about, but sadly our bank accounts won’t allow it.

Luckily, Deliveroo is offering free delivery across all restaurants this Friday and Saturday.

Hallelujah!

Every restaurant on Deliveroo in Ireland will be taking part in this special free delivery deal across Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Belfast over the two days.

Liam Cox, General Manager of Deliveroo Ireland shared: “We’re thrilled to be able to give our loyal customers the opportunity to take advantage of our free delivery offer."

He hopes this offer will encourage people to try new food: “I'm hoping this will encourage more people to want to try out some of their favourite local delicacies, so there’s no reason not to indulge!”

We will certainly be treating ourselves this weekend thanks to Deliveroo.

Why not make the most of this offer and gather up your friends for a night-in. You could all order your favourite dish and share with one another, that way everyone can try something different, whether that’s a gourmet burger or some salmon and avocado sushi.

If, like us, you're partial to a few drinks on the weekend, you'll know that one spirit in particular has captured the heart of the nation.

In recent years, the humble Gin and Tonic has undergone somewhat of a transformation, proving itself the beverage of choice for millennials across the country.

We're right at the centre of a gin Renaissance – and the latest event on Dublin's social calendar is here to prove it.

The city's biggest ginthusiasts are invited to sample products from some the best gin producers in Ireland and across the globe, in Dublin Castle this weekend.

Guest will can the chance to sip on gins of every kind while nibbling on specially selected food pairings, and generally feeling fancy AF.

You'll also have the opportunity to attend a masterclass and take part in a foraging lesson with Ireland's leading ambassadors.

Hosted at Printworks at Dublin Castle, Gin Experience Dublin, will donate €10 from every ticket sale to DEBRA Ireland, a charity devoted to helping those people with rare genetic skin conditions.

Tickets are priced at €40.00, plus booking fee, and must be purchased in advance.
