weight loss

Holly Hagan, 23, started out on Geordie Shore in 2011 and since then she has admittedly dealt with both the positive and negative side of the media spotlight.

She says she has struggled with her weight and as a result of this she embarked on a huge lifestyle makeover in efforts to become fitter and healthier.

The result has been an incredible weight loss of four stone and she has revealed all of her healthy tips and tricks in her new book The Body Bible.

Despite this, Holly doesn’t think that people should be allowed comment on her weight.

She explained to BBC Newsbeat that the nasty comments about her appearance are something she finds “really upsetting.”

She added: Regardless of what job I do and regardless of whether I'm on the TV, I still have feelings.

It doesn't mean I am a robot, I'm still a normal girl. I still live with my parents and comments like that hurt [them]. How would they feel if their daughter was being called these things?”

She has said that she agrees with X Factor judge Cheryl’s recent comments about punishments for ‘bodyshamers’. Holly says she “couldn’t be more for” stricter action being taken against people criticising her weight.

Speaking with Reveal not too long ago she said: “I’m either too fat or I’m too think- there’s no in-between. It’s really sad because I’ve worked hard for four years to get to where I am now.”

She explained that despite felling much healthier and happier now that she has adopted a very different lifestyle to her previous party-girl ways; she still admits the battle with ‘bodyshamers’ hasn’t gotten any easier.

Forget faddy diets or gruelling gym sessions… Scientists have discovered that drinking a pint of water before eating could be the secret to losing weight.

A new study conducted by the University of Birmingham found that overweight adults who drank 500ml of plain tap water before eating lost about 9.5 pounds in 12 weeks.

Sounds too easy? That's what we were thinking, but it turns out it's true!

Scientists involved in the study said the simple trick turned out to be extremely beneficial for increasing feelings of fullness and satisfaction.

Half of the participants in the study were told to drink a pint of water before their meals, while the other half ate as normal. The first group lost almost three pounds more than the second.

Those who drank a pint of water before all three meals a day reported the biggest weight losses over 12 weeks.

Researcher Dr Helen Parretti says it's an easy rule for dieters to follow. "The beauty of these findings is in the simplicity," she explains.

"When combined with brief instructions on how to increase your amount of physical activity and on a healthy diet, this seems to help people to achieve some extra weight loss – at a moderate and healthy rate. It's something that doesn't take much work to integrate into our busy everyday lives."

These days, we are all very busy people – and sometimes eating en route to work or at our desk is the only way to fit in food during the working day.

But new research from the University of Surrey suggests that eating on the go can thwart people who are watching their weight.

The study involved three groups of women, with 60 participants in total. Experts tested the effects of various forms of 'distracted snacking', such as eating while walking, watching TV or having a conversation.

It found that eating while distracted generally led to the women eating substantially more a short time later.

Jane Ogden, Professor of Health Psychology at the University of Surrey said, "In the real world there are many other factors — such as [food] availability, mood and peer pressure — that influence what and how much we eat. But the results from this study indicate that for dieters, eating on the go may well lead to them overeating later on in the day.”

Women who eat while participating in something else may not be fully aware of what they're eating, or they may feel like they need more food later on because they were so active during the day.

“We often overestimate how much we burn when we move, or believe that even walking for a mere five minutes potentially justifies the intake of food," says Professor Ogden.

In order to stop "distracted eating," she suggests scheduling break and snack times during the day, making every meal an occasion.

"It’s important to punctuate your day with breaks so that you can recharge and take stock as a means to relieve stress and work more effectively," Professor Ogden says.

Jamie Oliver is looking better than ever these days!

For the past ten years Jamie has campaigned tirelessly to reform children's school dinners all around the UK and even in America – but in the background he admits that he let himself go.

According to an interview with the Sunday Times magazine, Jamie admits he had "a bit of a freak out" 15 months ago when he realised he wasn't as young as he used to be.

"When you come to 40, you think you’ve got a while, but it’s ticking," he said.

So after all the hard work is over Jamie took three months to concentrate on getting himself back in shape.

And he did well!

"You start to realise that you’re half dead, so let’s get on with it. I want to get as old as possible, and to do that you’ve got to live a certain way. That’s the rules of the game."

The middle-aged TV chef studied nutrition and consulted sleep experts to lose the two stone.

In another interview with Radio Times he told them, "Sleep has become profoundly important to me".

"I was never getting enough of it and I didn’t understand the value of it. And I treat it like work. Just like I do with little Buddy [his four-year-old son] when I tell him to get to bed, I get to bed! I have little vibrating things that shake me when it’s 10pm"

He added: "I thought seaweed was hippy, globetrotting stuff but our ancestors ate seaweed. It’s got a load of iodine and it’s the most nutritious vegetable in the world. I’m saying lose it in a minestrone because that stuff is really, really good for you. It’s like dynamite – fibre, nutrients, all the minerals, aids digestion – unbelievable."

We think Jamie looks great and if it's all down to sleep and seaweed, we think we just might give it a go too!

Some people take it to extremes and would literally try anything to loose some weight, but this latest fad is definitely a step too far.

It has been reported that in North Korea, women are now resorting to Meth to help them shed some pounds, yep you right that right, methamphetamine.

According to Vice News, some of the more privileged women in North Korea and has not become that wide-spread just yet, but it is worrying nonetheless.

"The meth diet" has become popular as the drug suppresses appetite while providing an energy boost at the same time.

The country is said to have a huge problem with meth but it seems using it for dieting purposes is limited to a select few in the country. The majority of the country have no need for an extreme diet like this as they are forced into labour and it is believed many are on the brink of starvation.

"The average person has no time, let alone opportunity, to gain weight between mandatory work mobilizations and a shortage of food," a source told Daily NK.

"If the wives who are keen on losing weight would simply share the food that they and other elites hoard," the source said, "they wouldn't eat it all alone and get fat."

She began a healthy eating regime and committed exercise programme more than a year ago in the aftermath of the breakdown of her four-year marriage to Lamar Odom.

And certainly the results are impressive: Khloe Kardashian has never looked better.

Now, the 31-year-old has revealed just how much weight she's lost: a cool 35lbs from her heaviest! That's two-and-a-half stone.

Ms Kardashian recently posed on the front of Complex magazine in a fitness-inspired shoot and in an interview broadcast on Australian radio show NOVA FM, she revealed that she loves hitting the gym.

"I'm so into it," she explained. "Even this morning, I've been up since 2.30 because I was jetlagged and couldn't sleep, and I still went to the gym this morning."

The Californian furthermore stated: "It wasn't that intense because I'm still jetlagged, but I make sure that I go.

"Even 30 minutes you feel, 'Okay, I feel good about myself.'" And she added that when she's in LA she goes "hard".

"I know how I want to feel in clothes, and it does become addicting," Ms Kardashian admitted. "Once you start losing weight and seeing results, you're like, 'I want to see more!'"

It emerged today that Khloe reportedly plans to release her own line of gym gear.

"Khloe's been looking around the gym and noticing what people are wearing, and she knows she can come up with a better fashion line," a source told The Fix.

They also said: "She wants to design a line that is dry fit clothing, but better, sexier and a bit wild. She thinks people should show a certain side of themselves while working out.

"She thinks the current stuff is so boring. She thinks that if the workout clothes were sexier, it would make people want to work out more."

Most people are guilty of indulging in an energy drink now and again: the ultimate pick-me-up when you’re tired and can’t face another coffee.

Others more regularly knock back the caffeine stimulant – though few people could claim that they get through an astonishing 7litres A DAY.

However, that is exactly the quantity consumed by one mother-of-three from Newtownabbey in Co. Antrim.

Shockingly, Lena Lupari consumed so many calories as a result of her Red Bull habit that her weight now hovers around the 26st mark.

Even more serious – doctors also believe her brain has swollen and she risks going blind.

She first sought medical attention in June when she collapsed suddenly.

Doctors then discovered she had developed a condition known as Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), which they said was a result of her being overweight.

Ms Lupari told Mail Online: “I used to drink 28 cans of Red Bull in a day and I'd only have a meal at night but it would usually be something fast-food like a takeaway or a packet of pasta.

“I've got three young children, one with special needs, and didn't have time to make anything.

“I'd been suffering from migraines and headaches for about five years but I just ignored them and took painkillers.

“Then my vision went and I couldn't even lift my head off the bed and I ended up in hospital for six days.”

Specialists have now told Lena to lose seven stone – 30 percent of her body weight – and since cutting Red Bull from her diet entirely, she reports that she’s already shed two stone.

Intracranial hypertension (IH) refers to abnormally high pressure inside the skull and is quite rare, although it usually affects people who are overweight and obese.

The most common symptoms are severe throbbing headaches and changes in vision due to swollen optic nerves.

Let's face it, plenty of us work hard to slim down and tone up when the beach looms – only to pile a load of it back on once away.

Cocktails by the pool at noon, late night eating out in restaurants, and an exercise regime that involves flipping over on your sunlounger and very little else: it's a killer combo for your figure.

But one celeb who's spent much of the summer jetting off on amazing holidays seemingly without gaining a pound is certainly Chloe Goodman.

The 22-year-old reality TV star shed a stone in ten weeks earlier this year – and evidently hasn't looked back since.

In recently months, Chloe has enjoyed breaks in Egypt and and Las Vegas with her footballer boyfriend, Jordan Clarke, 23, who plays for Scunthorpe United and is now back in pre-season training.

She also took part in a sunrise bikini photoshoot in Mallorca – and the resulting photographs confirm she’s kept off the ‘kangaroo pouch’ she got rid of in the spring when she went from 8st 10lbs to 7st 10lbs.

The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant furthermore admitted that her relationship with Jordan continues to go from strength-to-strength.

"Summer makes me feel sexy," she explained.

"Who doesn't feel a bit more passionate on holiday? It's great way to really bond with that special person in your life.

"I feel so much sexier when the sun is out and I'm relaxing with my man. It is the perfect pick-me-up."

Chloe, who first made her name on the MTV show Ex On The Beach, has been spotted out and about lately showing off her figure.

Indeed, on Friday she attended an event in London with Bianca Gascoigne, opting for an all-white jeans-and-top ensemble teamed with fringed black suede sandals.

Chloe credits her new figure to old-fashioned healthy eating and exercise combined with Forza Supplements' Raspberry K2 diet capsules.

She said: "When I put on weight it goes straight on my hips – no woman wants love handles around her bikini bottoms.

"So I was doing lots of stomach exercises and sit-ups to make sure that my stomach was flat.

The model, who once was a body double for Cheryl Fernandez Versini on a L’Oreal ad, claimed: "Forza Raspberry K2s really make a difference.

"I used them to lose 16lbs to get in shape for Celebrity Big Brother during the winter and they did the trick again with my beach body."

Ms Goodman does make some sacrifices, however, namely not overindulging on champagne, wine, and cocktails when she’s away.

She also explained: "My fella has the best six-pack in football. Looking at him in the shower in the morning is all the inspiration I need to stay in shape.

"It stops me letting myself go when we are relaxing."

She's been hitting the gym hard – as evident by her inspiring gym selfies and her Complex magazine cover, not to mention her brand-new, walk-in exercise closet

And while Khloe Kardashian's love of healthy-living has certainly been highly praised before, it seems the reality TV star has now majorly upped her game.

She's currently in Australia to promote the family's range of children's clothing – and donning a skintight black jumpsuit, the 31-year-old proved she in the best shape of her life.

In fact, Khloe looks seriously skinny!

In an Instagram post made by Popsugar Australia, her tiny waist and slim legs and hips are apparent – something which wasn't lost on commentators.

"How skinny does she look!!!!" said one user. "Sooo skinny, she looks tiny," chipped in another, though a third also cautioned: "She's starting to look like a bobble head."

Last month, Ms Kardashian admitted that cutting out fizzy drinks had been the cornerstone of her successful weight-loss programme. And earlier this week, her trainer revealed that she's "an animal" in the gym.

Celebrity favourite Gunnar Peterson explained that with Khloe there is never any "complaining," or "bitching," – she "just gets after it".

For years, the younger Kardashian sister endured cruel taunts that said she was the "fat, ugly one" in comparison to her petite sisters, Kourtney and Kim.

But these days she's a lot more confident. "I don’t know if I’m ever gonna feel like 'daaamn, you look good,'" Khloe told Complex. "But I’ve never felt as comfortable in my own skin than I do now."

Hear, hear, we say!

Kylie Jenner’s snapchat stories are forever giving us brief glimpses inside the life of the world’s most famous 17-year-old.

And in one of her latest snapchat videos the youngest Jenner can be seen showing off her teeny-tiny waist and… her potentially pumped up bum?

Although Kylie has admitted to having lip-fillers, she has kept totally silent on the questions surrounding whether she has had breast or bum implants.

But in this latest video, a friend of hers asks the awkward question. “Oh! Kylie, what is happen… Is that? Are you pumping it up? Like what’s going on?”

To which Kylie laughs and simply says “stop!”

The accompanying snapchat videos do also lead us to wonder just where Kylie got her insane body from. Aside from showing off her skinny waist, she also seems to be loading up on rice krispie squares and biscuits.

Wherever her skinny stomach and amazing curves are coming from, we have no doubt that Tyga thinks she looks beautiful.

A source told HollywoodLife.com that Tyga “loves women with ample backsides,” and that “He’s told Kylie he wouldn’t mind if her booty got even bigger!”

It’s tough to find the time to eat right and exercise – but actually a few simple changes can make ALL the different to your waist-line.

Here, SHEmazing! gathers up a handful of insider weight-loss tricks and tips, so you can be trim and healthy without even trying…

1) Take the stairs:

No more excuses! But something as simple as taking the stairs can have a BIG impact on your waistline. Plus, after a day or two you won’t think twice about skipping the lift or escalator.

The same goes for standing; instead of diving for the nearest seat on public transport, stand up tall and burn calories while you commute.

2) Don't shy away from a cold blast:

OK, it’s maybe not the most pleasant thing at the time – but afterwards you'll feel great. And an added bonus is that a cold, 30-second blast during your morning shower could help you burn fat for the rest of the day.

If you just can’t manage that – at least then drink plenty of iced water. Indeed, German researchers found that drinking a litre-and-a-half of cold water daily can raise resting metabolism by about 50 calories: enough to shed a 1.5kg over the year.

3) Have more green tea:

Aim to drink a cup of green tea four times a day, and you could burn an additional 100 calories. That could result in weight-loss of a full kilo over the course of a month: not bad for doing very little other than sticking the kettle on.

If that’s not your thing a blast of caffeine can rev your metabolism by as much as eight percent, also burning around 100 calories daily.

4) Make sure to eat breakfast:

Mammy was right all along: it IS the most important meal of the day. That’s because eating breakfast jump-starts your metabolism. In fact, those who skip it (and there are a lot who are guilty of that) are four-and-a-half times more likely to be obese.

Stick to plenty of protein and slow-burning carbs though; that means that cereal, toast or fatty meats are out. A good bet? Scrambled eggs: in one study, overweight women who had two eggs a day for eight weeks lost 65 percent more weight than those who ate plain bagels.

5) Whip up some soup:

Home-made vegetable or chicken broth takes just minutes to put together. You can whip it up in the evening before you go to bed, ready for the following morning.

Have a mug before you head out for a meal (it will keep you away from the bread-basket and encourage healthier menu choices) or simply fill up a bowl and heat when you feel hungry – it will tick you over until dinner-time nicely and help you avoid nutritional pitfalls such as crisps, biscuits and chocolate.

6) Make Epsom salts part of your routine:

Weight-loss with no pain! Add one or two mugs of Epsom salts (available from pharmacies) to a hot bath to help draw out toxins in the evening. Get into a regular routine of two or three baths a week, and really speed up your weight loss.

Apparently this is a firm favourite with a load of models and celebrities – so certainly worth a try, we say.

7) Go to bed earlier:

A study in Finland looked at sets of identical twins and discovered that in each set of siblings, the twin who slept less and was under more stress had more fat gain around their tummies.

So switch off completely – that means leaving all electronic devices at the bedroom door – and move away from Netflix, you have some serious shut-eye to catch up on.

8) Just ditch the diet!

Sure, we’ve heard it all before – but it’s said for a reason: diets don’t work! If you’re carrying excess weight, then pretty much the only way to shift it is to come up with a long-term, slow-and-steady programme that champions a healthy diet combined with exercise.

Juicing, shake, meal replacement or supplement plans are a waste of your time and money. Not only that, but you could end up heavier than when you began.

So eat more nutrient-dense food, avoid empty calories and make real efforts to stay active. Give yourself one meal a week too to eat whatever you want so you’re never deprived.
