X Factor finalist Chris Maloney has revealed that abuse from online trolls drove him to spend more than €80,000 on plastic surgery.

In an interview with ITV's This Morning he said: "I was called Mr Potato Head and told I had a big nose."

Chris was finalist in 2012, and he said he had a breakdown once the live shows wrapped up – a breakdown he attributes to the stream of comments which labelled him "ugly".

The 46-year-old went on to say that the abuse left his confidence levels at an all-time low, and so he decided to resort to surgery.

Maloney, who placed third in the X Factor final, has now revealed that he's had a nose job, three hair transplants, an eye lift, and cosmetic work on his teeth.

Speaking on the ITV chat show yesterday, the singer said: "X Factor was great, but as the series was going on and the further that I got in the competition, I was getting really bad trolls and they were telling me that they were going to kill me, shoot me.

"I was called Mr Potato Head, that I was ugly, that I had a big nose and it just affected me so much and at the end of the final, I did have a breakdown."

Despite all of that, it's been a great year for Chris as he announced his engagement in January. He's also kicking off a solo tour in the autumn.

"I just hated myself. And now, I feel so much more confident. And I now look to the future."

Oh you just have to love Simon Cowell!

The X Factor judge has spoken in an interview about the recent feud between Louis Walsh and Cheryl Fernandez Versini.

Speaking honestly about the situation he admits that the pair were never the best of friends.

"There was always going to be a clash," he said.

He admitted: "They’ve never liked each other those two…[When Cheryl was in Girls Aloud ] he was their manager.

"Now Louis managing a girl band, disaster, he just doesn’t do it well"

Hmmm, Simon doesn't seem too bothered then.

Louis and Cheryl were at war recently as Louis called the stunning singer "lazy" and "irrelevant".

Cheryl was quick to defend herself as she shared with Twitter the fact that she thinks Louis is obsessed with her.

Who isn't obsessed with Cheryl though?

Simon Cowell is really planning major changes for the X Factor. After apparently axing Louis Walsh and Mel B, and making Caroline Flack and Olly Murs the new hosts, we have no doubt that the show will be a breath of fresh air this time around.

Another dramatic change has now been revealed, Simon is considering making the judges houses live.

This means the contestants and viewers will be informed of decisions at the same time.

Well now we're very glad we didn't audition for the next season…

A source has told The Sun: "This is a hugely ambitious plan and in many ways we are giving ourselves a massive headache, but if it comes off, it will be gripping TV. The emotion of the judges' houses stage is always one of the best things about the series, so if we can capture that live, it's going to be amazing."

We bet this will be much more thrilling, but nerve wracking if you're a contestant.

We don't yet know how it will work, being all over the world and in different time zones because the judges bring their acts to many different places.

However, we're sure Simon will work something out.

Since the news broke that Mel B may not be returning to the X Factor fold for the next series, talk has turned to who is set to replace the former Spice Girl.

With names like Rita Ora and Louis Tomlinson being bandied about over the past number of weeks, it looks like there is a hot favourite – and we couldn’t have possibly predicted it if we tried.

According to various sources today, the new front-runner to nab Mel’s spot on the judging panel is none other than Call Me Maybe singer Carly Rae Jepsen.

A show insider revealed this weekend that Simon Cowell is keen to sign the 29-year-old up to the show, mainly due to her worldwide success.

The source told the Daily Star: “X Factor producers have made initial enquiries to see if Carly is up for a role on the show. It is early doors and no offer has been made, but Simon is keen to get someone fresh who is current and has international appeal.”

It was recently revealed that Louis Walsh would not be returning to the show as he wants to focus on his boyband, Hometown, while further reports claimed that Mel B was axed from the show by Cowell.

What are your thoughts on Carly as a new judge?

The new X Factor hosts have officialy been confirmed by Simon Cowell.

There was a lot of speculation around it but it has now been confirmed that Olly Murs and Caroline Flack will definitely replace Dermot O’Leary on the show.

The former Xtra Factor hosts appear to be very excited about the new role.

Caroline said: “I’m beyond excited about presenting the X Factor with Olly.”

She then went on to add, “To have the privilege of doing this with someone who makes me laugh out loud is a massive bonus.”

Olly also expressed his excitement: “I’m incredibly excited and proud to be returning to the X Factor alongside Caroline.” He then added, “I love the show and it kick-started my career in music which has given me the opportunity to do what I love.”

They both hosted the Xtra Factor in 2011 and 2012 so are familiar with the way the show works.

Olly came second place in the show in 2009.

It seems like all of the One Direction members are trying to spice up their careers a bit lately, first Zayn leaves, then Niall caddies for Rory McIlroy, and now it looks like Louis Tomlinson is a favourite to replace Louis Walsh on The X Factor judging panel.

Louis Walsh has recently said “I think I’m done with X Factor. I’ve done 11 seasons.

One Direction member Louis is the favourite to become the new judge if Louis Walsh leaves the judging panel, while Robbie Williams is also on the cards.

Zayn Malik is also an option because he is now free after leaving One Direction but it looks like Louis is a lot more likely to claim the spot.

Eighties music star and X Factor regular Sinitta has described the possibility of Louis joining the show as “amazing.”

“He spent a lot of time with us last year, mentoring the talent and watching rehearsals. I could definitely see him going into music management and production so it’s a good place to start,” she said.

This would definitely be a big change for the star and the show but we have no doubt that Louis would be a great judge and mentor.

Rumours have been rife that Simon Cowell may be planning a bit of a shakeup on The X Factor, and it looks like we already know one person who won’t be returning for the next season – Louis Walsh.

Louis dropped the bombshell during an interview with TV3, in which he said he is ‘done’ with the show.

“I think I’m done with X Factor honestly. My day job is as a manager, I’ve kind of neglected that. I want to get back to being a manager,” said the 62-year-old.

Admitting that he “never wanted to be on TV”, Louis added that he is looking forward to concentrating on future projects with two of his acts, Shane Filan and boyband Hometown.

Louis appeared to hint that his absence won’t be the only change to the judging panel, saying: “I think they’re going to change it, go for a few new faces.”

Hmm, we wonder if he knows more than he’s letting on.

Recently, we reported that none other than One Direction star Louis Tomlinson was rumoured to be on the list of potential new judges – could he already be lined up to fill Louis place?

It’s only been a few days since Zayn Malik announced that he was leaving One Direction, but already it looks as though another band member may be looking to other projects.

Clearly Simon Cowell is looking to shake things up a bit on the next series of The X Factor, with the departure of long-term host Dermot O’Leary, and now it seems as though he may have his eyes on a new judge.

Indeed, word on the internet today is that One Direction star Louis Tomlinson is being hotly tipped to take up a spot on the judging panel.

The report comes as Louis’ plans for life after One Direction were revealed this week, with the 23-year-old eyeing up a career in talent management.

As well as having launched his own company called 78 Productions Ltd., he has also been signed up as a mentor for Sony’s ‘Be in the Band 2015’.

A source told The Sun: “Louis has his business head screwed on and is busy making plans for the future. He’s rated very highly at Sony and they knew he’d be great to get on board.”

“There are even industry rumours he’ll end up as an X Factor judge at some point down the line,” the source added.

Of course, Louis got a taste of life as a judge on last year’s show, during which he helped Simon and co. during the audition stages.

Do you think he'd be a good fit for the show?

Former X Factor contestant Stephanie Nala has opened up a about a terrifying incident on Twitter after a night out went wrong.

The singer, who appeared on the most recent series of the TV talent competition, got a fright on Sunday when she woke up in a hospital bed, and took to Twitter to warn her followers to stay safe.

"Did not expect to be in hospital this morning," she wrote. Stephanie's fans were quick to respond, with one writing, "Steph you're worrying me, are you okay baby?" and another saying, "woah what's happened."

After a day of recovery at home, the singer gave some further explanation, though she didn't go into detail.

"Girls especially.. Be so careful when you're out. Something really bad happened to me the other night. Just be extra careful," she wrote in a now-deleted tweet, following it up with another message which read, "Don't want to worry anyone. Just want people to be aware of certain things when they're out. I am all good now and home xxx."

On Saturday night Stephanie had tweeted her excitement at the prospect of a big night out, writing, "Haven't had a good night out in a while. Time to celebrate."

It's unclear what happened later in the evening but we are glad to hear Stephanie is safe and well all the same.

X Factor producers have revealed there is a big shake-up on the way for the next series of the show, in a bid to boost ratings.

The official judging panel line-up will not be announced until May but at the moment only Simon Cowell has been confirmed as safe.

"There will be some exciting changes. The name of the show will stay the same but we are looking at format and the judges. There will be some surprises this year. But I can’t go into detail," said X Factor executive producer Richard Holloway in an interview with The Mirror.

Speaking about the new plans, Richard said it was definitely time for a change. "We have been making the show for 10 years and to make it popular you have to refresh the show." However he admitted Simon would not be turned away from the panel, adding, "It is safe to say Simon is staying."

Given that Simon's production company Syco was the brains behind the show, we reckon he wouldn't be too happy to be kicked out!

Richard says that X Factor bosses would "love to beat" Strictly Come Dancing once again when it comes to viewer numbers. "There is an ongoing battle with Strictly," he revealed. "On overall volume they beat us last year. It has been a few years since we beat them on overall volume. It is quite interesting the split of the audience. It is very defined."

So with Simon confirmed, what about Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Mel B and Louis Walsh?

Mel B's last few weeks as a judge on the 2014 series of the show were full of drama as she had to miss the live semi-final for a mystery trip to hospital, amid reports she had left her husband Stephen Belafonte.

"It could be the case that Mel, Cheryl and Louis all don’t return but it’s still early days in discussions to say for certain and too soon to speculate," said Richard.

Hmmm… guess we'll have to wait until May for the big reveal.

Former X Factor contestant Chris Maloney was left "battered and bruised" after a car accident yesterday afternoon.

The singer and his fiancé Gary were driving through Blackpool in England when a speeding car drove into the back of theirs before driving off.

An ambulance, fire crew and police all came to the scene, with Chris and Gary being hospitalised along with actor Kurtis Stacey who was also in the car at the time.

Luckily nobody was left seriously injured and Chris admitted he felt grateful for his good luck, taking to Twitter to write, "Hey guys I’ve been discharged, very battered and bruised but thankful to Lord above it wasn’t more serious. Thanks for your lovely tweets xx"

The singer had just finished a press call for his upcoming Easter pantomime appearance in Peter Pan when the incident occurred.

In a statement to the press, Chris expressed his anger at the needless crash, saying, "Well this is what you get when idiots speed and I would just like to say a big thank you to Blackpool’s emergency services for everything today regarding this situation.”

Chris brought viewers to tears during the 2012 series of The X Factor when he overcame his stage fright to perform in the live shows. He now runs his own stage school in Liverpool.

Could Ed Sheeran make us love him anymore? Evidently, yes.

Following the scandal on Sunday night’s X Factor NZ where contestant Joe Irvine was cruelly targeted by judges Natalia Kills and Willy Moon, Ed has lent his two cents to the argument.

Tweeting to Joe, Ed wrote: “@jooe64_joe don’t worry about what anyone else says man. Enjoy yourself with it, that’s what singing is about, not what other people think.”

Excuse us, there’s just something in our eye…

Needless to say, Joe was over the moon (sorry) about Ed's kind words, replying: "@edsheeran thank u so much I'm a huge fan of yours love all your songs I really want to meet you."

Thankfully, Natalia and her husband have now been fired from the X Factor panel and won’t be given another chance to inflict such hurt on any other contestants.

Stay strong, Joe – Ed believes in you!
