We're often advised to treat ourselves like we treat our best friends, but how many of us actually do it?

When the ladies in our life lament their stretch marks, hair style or wobbly tum, we rush to their defence and insist they acknowledge all their wonderful attributes.

And yet we rarely do the same for ourselves; deciding instead to berate ourselves over every perceived flaw and imperfection.

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone.

In an effort to overhaul her own attitude to her appearance, YouTuber, Rachel Levin, made a video which has racked up an impressive 2.2 million views in four days.

I Am Ugly, which was shared on YouTube on Sunday, shows Rachel struggling to list her imperfections when confronted by her younger self.

"You said my dark circles were too dark, my nose was too big, my lips were too small, and my eyebrows were too bushy," the young girl say to her older self. "What else is wrong with me, Rachel?"

Everyone else picturing their own six-year-old face? Yeah, us too.

From Anap to Furnunculus and Langlock to Reducio, those Hogwarts kids had their work cut out for them mastering every spell in the book.

But one guy –  a Muggle, no less – has managed to incorporate almost every single spell into a rap, and YouTube officially has a new hero.

Alex Day uploaded the impressive footage on Monday, and since then the clicks have been going through the roof.

After sharing the words of the rap with YouTube users, Alex realised he had accidentally omitted Levicorpus, and used Mobilicorpus twice.

"I was devastated whe I realised," he wrote, but it doesn't look like anyone is holding it against him as thousands have flocked to the page to check out the performance.

"Holy sh*t, everything about this is perfect," wrote one while another YouTube user added: "This is simply the best thing that happened today."

Ladies, prepare yourselves for this one.

Alright, alright, alright (sorry, I had to).

In unexpected news of the day, Matthew McConaughey has had a YouTube account for the past TWO years.

For unknown reasons, not a lot of people seem to know about this – until this week that is.

During the week, Redditor user S1icedBread revealed Matthew's account to the world.

He shared a thread titled 'Matthew McConaughey has a Youtube channel that nobody watches' AND HE WAS RIGHT.

AND IT'S GAS.

Matthew vlogs about random things, like his day and what's in his bag (hilarious), but mostly, he vlogs to ask people to help charities.

What a sound lad.

A dazzling white smile has long been seen as something to aspire to, but how far would you be willing to go to ensure that your pearly whites are, well, white?

A random new trend has been gaining momentum in the blogosphere recently as online beauty gurus have started endorsing the use of charcoal as a tooth whitener.

Activated charcoal – a powder created when carbon is treated with an oxidising agent – is now being used to whiten teeth, as people believe the black stuff’s adhesive nature will bind with stains and remove them.

According to Oddity Central, the formula is commonly used in medical environments to treat poisonings and drug overdoses and while it is an excellent absorber of bad substances, it is equally good at removing healthy substances from the body.

Activated charcoal can be bought in supplement form.  Once a capsule of the substance is opened and mixed with water, it turns into a paste which can be used like regular toothpaste.

A dental expert told Indy100 that there is no scientific evidence to support the use of charcoal as a tooth whitener, so those encouraging its use are doing so solely based on their own experiences.

While its benefits have yet to be properly tested, activated charcoal toothpaste sure does make for a murky-looking mouth.

“The weirder the better” has long been the motto for success when it comes to YouTube and if the latest ‘100 Layer Challenge’ trend is anything, it’s weird.

Over the last few weeks we’ve seen people apply 100 layers of liquid lipstick in a single sitting, create a ‘polish mountain’ with over 100 layers of nail polish and pile on 100 layers of foundation with totally grotesque results so it was probably only a matter of time before someone decided to do it all at once.

Cue YouTube sensation Jenna Marbles.  The LA vlogger decided to create “the epic meal time of beauty videos” by applying 100 layers of foundation, nail varnish, lipstick, fake tan, hairspray and false eyelashes all at once.

The completion of this phenomenal challenge has already earned the 29-year-old Internet star more than five million video views since the 14 minute test was posted on Thursday.

Before she embarked on her 100 layer journey, Jenna set up the challenge by explaining her inspiration and goal and asked viewers to pray for her skin, lips, arm and beauty blender, all of which she expected “to die” during the application process.

Even by coat number ten the entertainer looked more than caked in makeup and by coat 21 her lashes looked like furry black caterpillars so you can only imagine what she looked like after more than seven and half hours of intensive makeup application.

Remember when pranks involved calling up a neighbour and asking if their fridge was still running or texting a mate's crush and asking for the shift?

Yeah, us too. (LOLS forever)

Well, it looks like those old chestnuts are just too tame for one particular group of co-workers who recently decided that the best way to prank a colleague was to trick him into thinking his mate had been murdered.

Sound, right?

The footage which has sent YouTube into overdrive since its upload at the weekend shows one poor unfortunate bloke’s reaction when he thinks he’s next in the firing line.

Ah lads, we couldn’t cope.

Every week comes a new beauty or hair trend.. and this week it involves cutting your OWN hair. *Shivers*.

Youtuber and make-up artist Camila Bravo shared her hair-cutting techniques on Instagram, and the Internet is obsessed with how perfect it turned out.

Press Play Before Calling me Crazy, I been cutting my own side bangs since forever ago. I love how they come out just by doing what I am showing here , so I thought I should share with you guys. If you have curly hair like myself cut them alittle lower than the actual desire length because keep in mind the hair will shrink. ♦Eyes: @motivescosmeticsElement Color Box ( use referral code Kamilabravo for Off ) ♦Lashes: @shophudabeauty in Style Marilyn. I find this style to be the perfect lashes for when you want something simple on the eyes but you want your lashes to be poppin ! ♦Skin: Born This Way foundation from @toofaced (Light Beige) Age Rewind Concealer by @maybelline ( Light/Pale shade) ♦Set with @lauramercier Translucent Powder & Mineralize skin finish by mac. ♦Hoola Bronzer by @benefitcosmetics ♦Highlight Grace by @gerardcosmetics Lips : Serenity by @gerardcosmetics #kamilabravo #bangsturoial

Camila is seen taking a section from the top of her hair, twisting it and then poof! She cuts it off – which is not for the faint hearted.

To be fair though, she does make it look pretty easy, and we were thinking about getting a side fringe…

Now that's determination.

A 17-year-old Galway student has successfully managed to persuade his parents to let him quit school – and it's for a very good reason.

Conor O'Flaherty started his first online business when he was just 14, and in the last year has successfully launched his own YouTube talent agency, Pursue.

Having secured a €5,000 bursary prize to help his business along, Conor is expected to turn over around €2,000,000 in commissions in 2016, according to the Irish Examiner.

So how did he convince his mam and dad to let him abandon secondary school without any Leaving Cert qualifications? Using a PowerPoint presentation, obviously.

"They [his parents] took about a month to decide so I went through six presentation drafts," Conor says.

"They chatted with successful business people around Galway to ensure my plan was solid – and I was credible. But it took a huge amount of energy to convince them, and also for them to decide as it was a very big and bold decision."

The Kinvara native started making YouTube videos when he was just ten years old, and his first YouTube business, Centure, had "turnover of €250,000 a year" despite him being in school full-time.

"I’ve always been active in the YouTube community and I’ve always been following people," he says.

Here's hoping Conor's plan pays off.

In an extremely weird turn of events, Charlie Sheen claims he is nearly HIV negative.

The actor, who is being treated by a controversial doctor, Dr Sam Chachoua, claims to have mixed his HIV-infected blood with an uninfected sample to test the results of his treatment.

“I’ve been under the care of Dr. Sam for a couple weeks now, and we’re seeing some incredible results,” Charlie said on a YouTube video, which shows him having blood drawn.

The 50-year-old then said he will see “what shakes out” after his HIV-positive blood is added to clean samples.

After a few weeks, Mr Sheen resumes filming and claims that there is "glaring evidence" he and the doctor are on to something.

If this sounds very odd and confusing, here's the video:

George Shelly has come out in a very emotional Youtube video.

The singer decided to come out to his fans to clear up speculation that has been surrounding the media lately.

"I don't feel that I should hide anything. I've been reading a lot of speculation online as to whether i'm straight or gay or bi," he said.

The 22-year-old revealed that he has dated both women and men in the past, and said that he doesn't want to be judged for who he dates in the future.

"I've been on a personal journey and I want you to be part of that journey from now on. I want to start 2016 with a clean slate.

"I've had girlfriends that I've loved. But I've also had boyfriends. I want you to know that whether I decide to be with a girl next or be with a guy next it's because I love them. It shouldn't be a big deal."

Whether you happen to have a penis or a vagina, many of us would be relatively familiar with both.

Unless, you happened to know from an early age that you were in fact not straight.

In a bizarre but utterly sweet and amusing YouTube series, Vloggers Bria and Chrissy decide to do a little social experiment in which they ask gay and lesbian men and women to touch a vagina or a penis for the first time.

It is definitely a bizarre video to watch strangers getting pretty intimate with each other, but the reactions are hilarious and probably not what you would expect.

In the first video, three girls are pretty much terrified at the though touch of touching a penis with one literally commenting that she's "shaking."

Meanwhile the second video, one gay man literally screams his head off at the sight of a woman's downstairs area and another compares it to a "deflated balloon".

One simply expected it to be "hairier."
