Taylor Swift shares heartbreaking news about her mum

Taylor Swift has always been open and honest with her fans, throught the good and the bad.

Now, the singer has decided to share bad news about her mum, Andrea.

Taking to Tumblr, Taylor told her fans that her mum is sadly battling cancer at the moment, writing: “I’m saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer.”

The diagnosis was made partly due to Taylor’s wish for her mum to get her health checked: “For Christmas this year, I asked my mom that one of her gifts to me be her going to the doctor to get screened for any health issues, just to ease some worries of mine.”

Unsurprisingly, Taylor chose to keep details of her mum’s illness private for the moment, but told her fans that her mum wanted them to know: “She wanted you to know because parents may be too busy juggling everything they’ve got going on to the to the doctor, and maybe you reminding them to go get checked for cancer could possibly lead to an earlier diagnosis and an easier battle.”

Taylor's mum has always been a big feature of her tours and shows, and always her biggest supporter; which is why Taylor says she chose to share the news.
