Teenage actress has opened up about getting a breast reduction
Modern Family actress Ariel Winter is talking about the breast reduction surgery she underwent earlier this year.
In the new issue of Glamour magazine, the star opens up about how she now feels so much “relief” at being comfortable in her own skin.
In June this year, Ariel went under the knife in order to reduce the size of her breasts as they were leading her to experience incredible discomfort.
She says that at age 15 the change seemed to happen “overnight” and “it started to hurt so bad that I couldn’t take the pain.”
“I really couldn’t’ stand up straight for a long period of time. My neck was hurting so bad and I actually had some problems with my spine,” she revealed to the magazine.
At just 5’1” tall she had a size 32 F chest and explains that she had been considering the surgery for a long time. According to the star when she initially brought up the procedure with her doctor he said. “Your back is going to thank you so much.”
Ariel confesses that before the procedure she felt a lot of pressure from people online commenting on her body and shape.
“The Internet bullies are awful. I would post a photo where I feel good, and 500 people will comment about how fat I am, and that I am disgusting.”
She explains how she began to feel like her physical appearance was being talked about more than the work she was doing on the hit series.
"Every article that has to do with me on a red carpet had to do with 'Ariel Winter's Crazy Cleavage!' or 'Ariel Winter Shows Huge Boobs at an Event!' That's all people would recognize me by –.”
Now 17, she says that since the surgery she has found herself feeling much happier and more confident in herself. She hopes that being open about her experience will be of benefit to other young women.
It's something that I did to better my life and better my health, and I think that can benefit a lot of young girls. I have felt happier with myself than I ever have."
