The Michelin stars of the airline world…and Aer Lingus wins BIG

by

Back in our parents’ day, air travel was considered the absolute height of sophistication.

But with the advent of last-minute flights, online booking and reduced fares, we’d be lying if we claimed the same for our generation.

For the vast majority of millennials, most flights trigger the same level of excitement as the morning commute – none, whatsoever – and yet there are some airlines who still manage to capture a little old-school magic when it comes to air travel.

Acknowledging this through their leading Airline Rating system, Skytrax have awarded Aer Lingus its distinguished 4-Star rating thereby placing it among the top 40 airlines in the world for quality and service.

Commenting on the accolade, Aer Lingus Chief Executive, Stephen Kavanagh, said: "We are delighted to have achieved a 4 Star rating from Skytrax which recognises our product offering, service and overall guest experience as word-class.”

With Aer Lingus announced as Ireland’s only 4-Star airline, Stephen continued: “The needs of our guests are central to everything we do and this achievement not only confirms that our service enhancements are responding to those needs, it also confirms our status as global leader within the air travel industry."

Mike Rutter, Chief Operating Officer, is determined that the Irish airline – recognised worlwide by the shamrock on its tailfin – will maintain the high standards for which it's been known since its establishment in 1936.

"We will fight on a daily basis; to maintain that rating; to continue to deliver punctuality better than our competition and to retain a listening ear to our guests."

"We are thrilled to have achieved a 4-Star rating from Skytrax, to receive official recognition for Aer Lingus’ world-class product offering and service," he added.

We feel a holiday coming on…
