Christmas wish: Irishman answers this woman’s heartbreaking plea
It doesn’t get much more Irish than the longest running family magazine in the country; Ireland’s Own.
With everything from features to competitions to puzzles, Ireland’s Own has spent 114 years entertaining Irish families.
Refusing to bend to modern times, the magazine still prides itself on its ability to match make potential pen pals.
Yes, every week a list of hopefuls post their ads in a bid to a friend or something more.
One such person is this 83-year-old lady who is in search of a “penfriend”.
Describing herself as a lovely woman who enjoys music and travelling, number 1611415 now spends her days living in England after spending 12 years in Ireland and taking a bit of detour to the US on her travels.
With poor health and feeling homesick, this woman’s heartbreaking post has drawn the eye of one Irish man who says he’s going to reach out.
With the festive season approaching it’s nice to know that this “lovely lady” will be getting a new friend for Christmas.
