TV star engaged after super-romantic public proposal!
Actor Oliver Mellor must be delighted with himself today, after he popped the question in a seriously romantic way last night.
The actor, best known for his role as Dr. Matt Carter on Coronation Street, proposed to his girlfriend Rhian Sugden in front of a packed theatre audience in Manchester.
Oliver had just finished a performance of his show Black Coffee at the Manchester Opera House when he asked glamour model Rhian to marry him.
Watched by a full house of over 1,000 people, Oliver presented his girlfriend with a stunning diamond ring, as she shouted "yes" from her seat. So cute!
Speaking about the emotional moment, Rhian told The Sun that she "started blubbing like a baby" straight away.
Oliver took to social media to share the happy news – as if proposing in front of 1,000 people wasn't enough! He posted this happy snap of the lovebirds kissing to Twitter with the caption, "I have never been so happy."
Rhian shared the same photo, captioning it, "So this just happened!! I am engaged! Happiest person ever."
The couple have been dating for just over a year. Before meeting Rhian, Oliver notoriusly had a five-month affair with Corrie co-star Kym Marsh, during her marriage to to Jamie Lomas. Speaking about the clandestine relationship after it ended, Oliver said, "It wasn’t something we intended to happen, but we couldn’t stop our feelings."
Hopefully Oliver's settled down for good this time!
