Uh-oh: awards put Zayn up against One Direction for the first time

The Teen Choice 2015 nominations were announced today… and attracting the most attention was certainly the Fashion Choice Male Hottie category. 

The reason?

Zayn Malik AND the rest of his former bandmates are simultaneously up for the accolade. 

And there will be only one winner when the glitzy bash takes place on August 16.

Up for the same gong is Justin Bieber and Aussie band 5 Seconds Of Summer.

Still, at least One Direction also picked up nominations for the likes of Best Male Group and Group Song. 

The Teen Choice Awards are entirely dictated by the fans' votes – so it will be particularly interesting to see where their allegiances lie in the aftermath of Zayn's shock exit from the mega-selling group. 

Tens of millions of votes are cast annually, and millions tune into the show itself, which this year takes place in Los Angeles.

Last year, the awards were hosted by Teen Wolf star Tyler Posy, and Modern Family's Sarah Hyland. Performers on the day included Jason Derulo, Demi Lovato, Cher Llyod, and Rita Ora.
