Watch: Footage of plane landing in Dublin Airport amid Opehlia gales

As Hurricane Ophelia made its way across the country today, social media users shared footage of the devastating effect the storm has had on the country.

While many flights in and out of Ireland were cancelled due to the extreme weather conditions, some air passengers were forced to endure the impact of the storm.

Taking to Facebook to pay tribute to the pilot who ensured the safe arrival of hundreds of passengers in Dublin, one member of the public uploaded footage which showed the conditions pilots had to navigate when arriving into the Irish capital today.

"My parents flight landing at Dublin Airport earlier, my heart was in my mouth watching it! Well done to the crew of EI491 #Ophelia," wrote Facebook user, Sean Hassett, earlier today.

Sean's post has been viewed more than 160,000 times since its upload earlier today.
